all of the below is true. plus, the room had amazing bed, and FEATHER PILLOWS! shower had good water pressure. soaps were eh. i'd bring my own next time.
the hotel must've been legit, 'cause when we left, some people were taking pictures with the sign out front.
minus 1/3 star for the ridiculously long walk to the elevator, 1/3 star for the ridiculously loud heater, and 1/3 a star for the annoying jackhammering-like noise that woke us up in the morning. and by "morning," i mean "11 am." so, you know.
**good to know: you can call to extend your checkout 'til 2pm at no charge. woo hoo!

HGI is my favorite of the Hilton budget offerings - I know I get free internet, the breakfast buffet is awesome and the rooms are just enough space for someone who spends most of her time away from her room and just needs a place to crash the weary body after a full day of activities. I stayed at this particular location as I was in town to see NIN/JA at Shoreline. Perfectly located a few minutes away from the venue and their staff was very helpful. Will definitely stay here again if I am in town for another show at Shoreline.

Hilton garden inn - lets see, what comes to mind. Fast, cheap, easy.
Well this is what that is trying to be. Empty on the weekends, packed during the week with silicon valley expense account execs with a powerpoint to give in the morning. It's clean, the pool is nice, breakfast buffet is great, and they have coffee machines in your room.
For 75 a night why the heck not.

This hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay whether it be just for one night or an extended stay. Sign up for Hilton Honors and earn your way up from Blue to Silver to Gold to Diamond status which allows you to cash your reward points out for complimentary stays at any of their family hotels. Free water bottles at check-in (not $10 a bottle in the room) and daily baked cookies!
Amenities include: Business center (open 24 hours), pool, fitness center, complimentary internet (wired and wireless) laundry machines, dry cleaning services, full breakfast buffet (eggs made to order), meeting rooms, catering, coffee makers and mini fridge in every room, plenty of free parking.
The front desk staff is very professional and friendly and checking in is a zip. Room service stays open until 10pm (the food is great for a hotel restuarant) and Castro Street is just 4 lights down for an unlimited selection of cuisines.

Frankly, I don't know the price of this place because of the good ol' company expense account. But the amenities are great. Let's see what we have...
Free breakfast - not just crappy Continental breakfasts or stupid Danishes and bearclaws. The have juice, milk and cereal, fruits, some chef to make omelets, Belgian waffles, or pancakes, and toast and some other things.
Free wired internet in the room, and free wireless all around the lobby (and possibly in the room, but I'm in the lobby and haven't checked the room).
Reception desk people are all very nice. And the have free cookies there!
USA Today delivered in the morning. I like being able to read the news, even if it is USA Today.
Pool. Too bad I'm here in the winter and it's raining. I guess you can't have it all.
Four stars because I'd definitely come back on the company dime. Minus one star because there are other Hilton Garden Inn's nearby that are closer to good eats. So it's really just the location of other Hilton Garden Inns (which I would assume have the same amenities) that would make me go elsewhere rather than here.
