HGI seems to have solved their parking issue with stricter control of their hotel parking areas.  Hope this continues when Quiet Cannon gets busy (in summer months and weekends).  Strangely, they didn't have contol on a Wednesday night and that was busiest of all.  They need to coordinate with Quiet Cannon a lot more closely.

The traffic on Garfield has definitely picked up and its a little harder to get in and out of this place.  They are putting up a traffic light at Garfield and Via San Clemente so this should help immensely.

The hotel has recently upgraded their TVs with some awesome flat panels.  Hotel cafe continues to be outstanding and I greatly appreciate their morning complimentary coffee, especially at 4:30 in the morning.  Thanks for the evening cookies and free wi-fi.  The little touches make the stay here top notch.

For a 3 star hotel this is as good as it gets.

Polite staff, neat and clean room, great good service, quiet and pretty place, affordable prices.

The Hilton Garden Inn was a suprisingly nice place to stay!   The area is a tiny bit sketchy but the actualy hotel is tucked away in the middle of the Montebello Country Club Golf Course so it is very well insulated from the street.  The rooms were comfy with flat screen t.v. (HBO is free).  Free wi-fi is included.  There was a pool out front which I did not use but it looked clean and free of floaters.  Hotel staff was very nice and willing to offer advice with places to eat in the area.  There is a banquet hall/ night club that is adjacent to the hotel but as it is not physically attached to the hotel noise and wild patrons was not an issue.  The final selling point was the price which was $80 a night!  In my mind that is a steal for what you get.

I stayed here for two nights (the night before my wedding & my wedding night).  I loved it!  The room had a 37" plasma TV, a desk with a kick ass chair, an awesome jacuzzi-jet tub and one of those sleep comfort beds.  The people that worked at the hotel were extremely nice.  We went to breakfast the next morning and the omelettes were fantastic.

It's in the middle of the Quiet Cannon golf course so you don't hear the freeway or the other city noise.  It was extremely quiet and we had a nice view of the golf course.

What was really cool is the tub had some shutters so you could open them and see the bed or watch TV while soaking.

My family stayed here over the weekend.  The Hilton Garden Inn Montebello Los Angeles is a diamond in the rough.  The property is located so centrally to so many things.  We were able to go downtown Los Angeles to Staples Center in minutes.  The hotel sits on a 18 hole golf course and they only charge the resident rate of $26 when you stay there!  We had complimentary parking and complimentary wireless internet access.  Our room overlooked the beautiful swimming pool with the golf course behind it.  The restaurant had an excellent breakfast that we were able to enjoy out  on the terrace overlooking the 1st tee.  The staff was very welcoming and friendly.  We will for sure go back!

Stayed there for a night and loved it!!!

Can't wait to go back, very quiet and well taken care of.  For the price, staying here is a steal.

Pretty nice place considering the location. I was faintly familiar with the area and was surprised to find that there was a Hilton in Montebello aka East LA. The area immediately surrounding this hotel is a little sketchy. There weren't any homeless wandering around and there wasn't much trash blowing around on the street. They've cleaned up Montebello quite a bit. I think the 20 foot sound wall kind of creates a vacuum where the hotel is in a different world.

When you pull up the driveway to the hotel, you realize that this place is different from the rest of the city. The company spent some money building this place. It's very nice and modernized. The entrance has a nice open area with an open restaurant with fireplaces everywhere, though I'm not sure why you need a fireplace in LA it's so warm. The room had a view of the golf course, but the smog was killer for the 4 days I was in LA. They did a really nice job of updating the rooms. I thought the bed was a little too soft though. Plus they don't charge you for parking, which was a nice change.  My family and I used the pool, which the kids loved. No one else was out there so it was very quiet and private. Great since my kids yell like crazy.  The cookie at the end of the day is a nice touch too. I grabbed a handful for the road.

actually got 3 nights free using my amex points, so the price was right. But it's not that expensive. I believe it's between 80-100/night. For LA that's not bad. The location is centrally located so it only took about 10-15 to get down to downtown LA. Plus you're right between the 710 and the 605 so there are a lot of ways for you to avoid traffic.

Uh oh... Where am I? What is this place? Woah, I see trash on the sidewalks... Oh crap, I see a homeless colony.. More trash, more homeless, did we take the wrong exit?

My time machine must have broken in 1980 and I got stuck in this pastel parallel universe. This simply can't be where the Hilton Garden Inn is located. It just can't be! Where is the golf course? Where is the quaint, quiet looking hotel that was showcased on the Internet? I was in the middle of a white girl panic attack, when my boyfriend lurched the car to the right. He found the Hilton Garden Inn sign... But no hotel...

Awwwwwww.......there it was. A well manicured lush green lawn, little white golf carts racing each other to the next hole and to the right, the modern exterior to my room for a night.

I took a deep breath and entered this oasis of serenity. I was greeted with a large smile and prompt service. Check-in was a short, pleasant experience. Once the room keys were in my hand, it was time to go hunt down our room.

Slide key, wait for flashing green light and open.. open....open.. Yay! We're in... I have to say, I was 100% satisfied with this room.

It had:
Working Air Conditioning (much needed for a 100 degree day)
Comfortable Queen bed (bad back, comfort is a must)
Entertaining view (a voyeur's dream come true)
Hair dryer (it doesn't blow itself)
Microwave & Fridge (score, DOUBLE score!)
and my favorite of ALL

FREE WiFi!!!!!!!!

I would highly recommend this place. It's a GREAT deal for a GREAT hotel.

Things to remember:

No Valet parking
No covered parking
No bell service (you haul your own luggage)

But it's worth it.. Besides a little exercise can be a good thing =)

5 Stars..

One more thing, it has a pool and spa. Not just any pool and spa, but a pool and spa that looks to be on a roof. A pool on a roof is a must. Go swim in it.. For me.. Because I didn't have a chance to. *Sigh* I'll be back though!

After reading the previous glowing reviews of this hotel, I'm wondering if I stayed at the same place.  But I know I did.

This is not a five-star Hilton Garden Inn by any stretch of the imagination.  It's A-OK though -- the very definition of a three-star Yelp rating.

The front-desk was friendly and efficient and the price was reasonable (about $99 per night) but this Hilton Garden Inn could use a bit of sprucing up.

The carpeting in the hallway has seen better days, and the carpeting inside my room could have used a deep-steam cleaning.  The furniture inside of my room was a bit worn too with some of the corners chipped from wear.

And where was the flat-screen T.V. someone else mentioned?  Definitely not in my room!  My room had an old-fashion 25" tube TV.

Also, I paid extra for a room with the view of the golf course, and while my third-floor room faced the golf course, the view of it was blocked by several large mature trees.

Still, overall the room was fine with clean quality bedding, a large work table and a nice large bathroom with a good shower and large vanity, and this Hilton Garden Inn does have a nice large pool and a well maintained spa.  But overall, all the other Hilton Garden Inns I've been to in the L.A. area and elsewhere have been better with newer furnishings and better kept up rooms.

Country club living at a garden inn price!  Well okay, not that nice, but I love that the hotel is behind the gates of a golf club.  You feel so secluded from the city and don't have to worry about parking and safety, yet are only 2 minutes from the 60, and 5 minutes from Monterey Park.  Prices are always in the $80-90 range, so getting a nice fluffy bed with white sheets and comforter, clean bathrooms and carpet, free wireless internet, and the free bottled water is very well worth it.  So conveniently located when I come home to visit family.  Never sleazy, not touristy, nor skewed too far towards family nor business travel, my experiences here have made the Hilton Garden Inn my hotel chain of choice at the under $100 price point.

I like this Hilton Garden Inn a lot.  Firstly, the location is awesome...it's on top of a hill and it overlooks a golf course.  Everything is above average at this "Inn".   The staff is patient and friendly.  The rooms are spacious and clean.  The furniture is new.  They gave you free bottled waters.  I've stayed there a few times over the past year...a couple of times for business.  One time when I got to my room, there was a personalized letter on the bed thanking me for staying with them.  I know it's no big deal...but it was definitely a nice touch.  Another tip, try going on the Hilton website to check the rates, you can almost always beat the rates on Expedia or other websites.

I must say wow.  I was in town for a friend's wedding, and I must say I was very impressed.  I was worried, driving through it wasn't the best part of the neighborhood I was starting to think that the website photos on the Internet grossly misled me... but as we turned the corner we drove past a golf course and gate those concerns eased away.  Eventually we made out way up and found the hotel, I was shocked at how inexpensive it was to stay here, (less then 95 a night ) especially considering how nice the amenities were, nice soft pillows, adjustable beds, fresh and good thread count linens, flat screen TV, facilities were nice too and some beautiful views.  I got the room with the golf side view, and got to  watch people tee off.  It was a real nice and pleasant stay.  The Internet was a little spotty with my laptop but my friends was fine.  Additionally, the gate way on one night we were there was stopping people because they were having a some sort of club or dance thing at a complex on the same street.  Parking was bad that night and the people at the gate were charging me to enter to get to my hotel.  I understand what they are there for and the hotel did reimburse me, but still it was a little inconvenient.  Other then that there is not much else to fault here, I enjoyed the room and if I'm ever in those parts again Ill defiantly be back.  Oh it sounds knit-picky but if I am going to watch something on a HD flat screen TV, I really wish they got some HD channels....
