I actually lived in this hotel for a couple of months in 2008 (it's been open since at least November 2007) and really had a nice time.  It may be the only Garden Inn with a bar, I don't know.  But that was a great place to unwind and watch a game after work.

The food is so-so, although the breakfasts are pretty good.

They give you a free El Paso Times.  I love that.

Highly recommended if you want to be on the west side, have business at UTEP.  Easy-ish access to the freeway.

I stopped in El Paso for a night on a recent trip to California.  This Garden Inn is brand new.  It had only been open for a few months.  We stepped into the room, which was very large.  There was a living area, and a sleeping area.  There were 2 large TV's, so that I was not forved to be around my friend 24 hours a day!!!

We were tired from driving, so we made use of the hottub, which was very nice.  We headed back up to the room to get cleaned up, and then headed down to the restaurant located inside of the hotel.

We sat outside, and watched the sunset.  There were a few people walking by on there way to class... the University of El Paso is literally a block away.

The food was o.k.  I had grilled chicken bowtie pasta.  I remember thinking, 'I could make this at home in about 5 minutes with stuff I already have at home!'  It was nothing special.  My friend had fajitas.  And surprisingly, the entree was 'just the fajitas, tortillas, and some cheese, guac, etc.'  I thought, 'shouldn't there be rice and beans???'

We had a few drinks, and the bill was moderate.

The bed was GREAT!  Very comfortable.

The next morning went to have breakfast, my favorite meal of the day.  My omlet was cooked to order, and it was good.  I had bacon and potatos.  The portion was huge, and I didn't finish it.

I also grabbed some yogurt and fresh fruit.  YUM!!!  There were packaged muffins and danish that I grabbed for the road as well. Loved that!!!

We had a coupon for one free breakfast, and the waiter allowed us BOTH to eat for FREE!!!

We headed out, reluctantly, that morning for Phoenix.  The Garden Inn El Paso was really a great hotel.
