The hotel is alright. I stayed on the fourth floor and kind of weirded out by the amount of white bright colors in the hallway and in the room. It kind of made me anxious and uncomfortable. The location is alright because its right across the street from Summit Mall, which has a food court, and a decent selection of shops. There are two pools, one indoor and one outdoor with a small gym, hot tub, steam room, and sauna. It's nothing special by any means but it does have the big comfy beds that I love and the thousands of pillows that seem to be necessary only when I travel.
There are a lot of sit down chain restaurants, ethnic restaurants, as well as fast food joints all over the area the hotel is located in. I'm not sure if it can get much better than this in Akron but what can you do.

I got the chance to spend a night at the Akron Hilton when I was in OH this past weekend. I really like Hilton hotels and I enjoyed my short stay here. The bed was extremely comfortable, the staff was very sweet, and the room service was awesome - I got myself a yummy ham & cheese omelette and hash browns delivered to my room within 15 minutes. If I am ever in the Akron/Fairlawn area again, I will definitely stay here :)

Relative to what else is in Akron, The Hilton Fairlawn is ok. It does need an update but if you're looking to save some $$ and still get into something nicer than a true budget hotel, this should suffice.
Unfortunately, it could be so much more.

some things get better with age: a good blue cheese, a meaningful relationship, the eiffel tower, a chanel tweed jacket.
i usually appreciate and respect items with a year or two on them.
enter the hilton fairlawn.
the automatic doors at the entrance sound like a thunderstorm IN YOUR FACE. the "room service" is even less favorable than the surrounding fast food chains. the hallways smell like the armpit of an orangutan. and the water running through the pipes must be directly streamed in from the snowy wonderland outside. oh! and the heater FARTS (the loud AND smelly kind) every time it turns on!
helas, the hilton fairlawn needs the nourishment of creme de la mer. or something. that cracked skin is really starting to show.
(though i will say that the one redeeming quality was the spinach salad. thank goodness for fresh greens).
