Funnest bowling alley ever. Dart boards. Bar with both karaoke and live music. All kinda games, including laser tag, pool, bumper cars, skating rink, the works. It's a bowling alley amidst a family fun center

As far as bowling alleys go, this place is A-OK. I wish they played music and didn't rely on people putting money in the jukebox. Beware, the jukebox moves so slow I ended up playing three 2 credit Michael Jackson songs in a row. Good thing in my impatience I somehow picked three of the good ones.
As far as roller skating rinks go, this place is kids only, sadness. I tried really hard to convince myself that we could skate here but we couldn't. It's smaller than a breadbox and filled with little kids falling and their parents picking them up. The skates are also plastic.
Other things we participated while there; the hurricane simulator. No it's not worth $2 but it was fun nevertheless. We played skeeball and the balls were plastic and ice colored. We also hit up the hoops and the air hockey. Both were standard issue.
As you can see it's not the best place but it does the trick. We also won a slinky and a back scratcher that broke immediately. Would I come back? Absolutely, it's a cheaper Dave and Busters. A pitcher of beer is also $10. Other reasons I would come back? The new Chick-fil-A is now open on Charlotte. They almost share the same parking lot, it's that close. -

It's a bowling alley.
They have a bar which is nice.
I've noticed that they tend to segregate the lanes. For real. Which is weird. -

Not a bad bowling alley. The food is kind of terrible, and the drinks are expensive, but they do night bowling, and I'm a sucker for night bowling. Last time I went, the front desk guy had an attitude about us coming in TWO HOURS before (their posted hours) they were closing, and kept telling us that everything was shutting down and we should just do something else. Poor customer service for sure!

You literally have to review bowling alleys on a curve rating system...
Seriously, am I going to deduct points for ambiance? sophistication? gourmet food?
As far as bowling alleys go, Hillwood Strike and Spare offers up a festive family entertainment environment, complete with bumper cars, arcade, laser-tag, and rollerskating. I didn't partake in any of that wholesome goodness but did hit the full-stocked bar for 3 pitchers of brew (2 Miller Lites and a Yuengling) that only set me back $31. Nifty!
The website offered up some great deals that included:
Wednesdays 6pm-12am - All You Can Bowl with free shoe rental = $8
You can find promotions for practically every day of the week.
I don't bowl often (which surprised many due to all of the strikes and spares that I was racking up!) but even I can sniff out a good deal when I see one. When our group arrived, the staff started to state that the offer was not available any longer but after I pressed that it was still posted on-line and that I confirmed the offer earlier in the afternoon with a staff member on the phone...they relented quickly and honored the deal. (with a smile too!)
Didn't try any of the food but many of the bowlers were noshing on pizza throughout the evening.
Overall this location was clean and a good spot to host a bowling party.Listed in: West Nashville, KingPin

I've been here 6 times now. It's a very clean and very enjoyable place, beer prices are decent and the pizza is edible (not bad, but not great) but it's a bowling alley.
The only real issue I have with this place is there can be 4 people behind the main desk and 3 people in line and only one person helps the people waiting. Perhaps the other 3 people behind the counter it's not their job and they're just hanging out there, but standing there waiting for someone to help you because your lane just went mental can be exasperating.
The technology there doesn't show you what pins you have left up, but that's not usually a problem.
I can't believe I've been there so many times and did not notice they had a roller rink, laser tag and video game pit.
They have the cleanest rental shoes I've run across, Miller light and Yuengling on tap, it's a great place to hold events (I've now been there for 3 or 4 medium sized groups)
It's teetering on being a 4 star place for me -

Well I attended my first Yelp event here tonight. I had a great time! I met some very cool people. I look forward to seeing again. Even though I'm a horrible bowler, me and my wife had a great time. Full bar, clean, fun atmosphere. If i wanted to pick at anything. $1.00 for 1 song on the jukebox. But who cares. We had fun! I'd be happy to bowl a 63 again! haha
Thanks Marcia! -

While I favor the other Strike and Spare in Donelson for its daily specials (they're cheaper), Hillwood is a very clean alley and includes a decent arcade and various other things to blow your money on. (Roller skating! Laser tag! Mini golf! Bumper cars!) If you do plan on utilizing everything Hillwood has to offer, I recommend going Monday ($5 a person from 10am to 9pm).

Okay, so the air conditioning doesn't work, only three of the eight bumper cars half work, they never turn on the lights over the skating rink and you will be the only two people playing laser tag. The beer is cheap and the grilled hot dogs are awesome!
For only $8.50 on Wednesday you can enjoy all the broken splendor of a local redneck dive and have cash left for a cab ride home. (the $8.50 includes one bowling game)
Dig in and bathe in the splendor of red neck America. -

Most of the time you step into a bowling alley and you feel as though you have stepped into the 70s again. I'm not hatin', those are my fave, but Hillwood Strike and Spare isn't one of those places.
So I think this place used to be a Kmart or something right? Anyway, so you can imagine that it is huge. There are tons of lanes so you are sure to get a lane to bowl. The counter for paying for shoes and games is to your right when you walk in. I mean, the guy behind there wasn't the most perky person I've ever met, but he wasn't rude so don't be skerrred off by the other reviews.
Figuring out the scoring pad is always a challenge at these joints but this one was at least a bit newer than some. The lanes seemed newer and didn't have any warped wood to make my ball go in the gutter (suuuure, that's why it was in the gutter!). I had a great time bowling and didn't do half as bad as I could have.
But WAIT, there's MORE! After bowling I went exploring. If you walk back inside the building what will you find? Yep, video games. Granted, not the hugest selection but they had the cranes (won a Pokeman), they had PacMan, and they had Dance Dance Revolution. Even farther back they had the basketball game, skeeball, and your very own little roller skating rink. The rink is smaller than a normal one, but no one was back there so at least you could have it all to yourself. There's an area back there near the rink that you can reserve for birthday parties. The area looked pretty big so I can just imagine the number of sugar-crazed minions it could fit back there. Anyway, there's something to entertain everyone. Try the DDR game - Sasha and I played and I was sweating like I had done a full workout. Yes, soooo sexy, but still, who knew you could play video games and get your workout on too.
Don't like video games and tired of bowling? You can also go to the 21 and up bar area and drink and shoot some pool. Sometimes you just need a beer-fueled rest you know?
Since this place is near my house I am guaranteed to want to go back. I want to go bowling again for sure, but I think I also want to sneak in the back and roller skate to my heart's content. -

This is the closest bowling 'center' (you will find out in a minute why I'm using this term rather than alley) to my house and is right across the street from the new Nashville West shopping plaza on Charlotte Pike. If you're coming here expecting just a bowling alley you're in for a treat (or a shock depending on your personality). Its main function is yes, a bowling center, but it is also so much more than that.
Strike and Spare is like a scaled down, less expensive, locally owned version of a Dave and Busters. They've got a large arcade area featuring many different games that cover all your bases. From DDR to shooting games to racing games, there's something for everyone. It doesn't stop there, however, Strike and Spare has bumper cars, a roller skating rink and even laser tag! Whether you have kids or just like acting like one, it's a great place to spend hours running around being ridiculous.
I can't forget about their bowling though. They offer the largest number of lanes in town and it is practically impossible to come and not find a free lane. Their pricing is great you can pay per game or by the hour and they've got specials and deals pretty much every day of the week.
They of course serve beer but for some reason not pitchers and their food is of the expected greasy quality (although their menu is a little more extensive than some bowling alleys). Because of its diverse selection of activities it is a popular place for birthday parties and get-togethers for all ages. The place is bright, cheery and clean which are typically things you don't associate with a bowling alley. The employees are helpful and you can't beat their location which is convenient to I-40 and just a 10 or so minute drive from downtown up Charlotte Pike. -

This is a great place to go with a group of friends for a cheap night of fun. I'm not picky with bowling alleys, though. As long as they have a good juke box and cheap beer... Then all is good. Except when they have the newer style bowling shoes... The ones that have neon colors... Those are bad.
You know if it's in a strip mall with Big Lots, and it used to be a K-mart, then it's got to be awesome, right?! It's good for families, teenagers, professional bowlers, and even a fun date spot. There's also a bar, which I believe has karaoke on some nights as well! -

Strike & Spare is a clean, non-sketchy (except for Bobo... the semi scary large man working at the counter) place to go bowling. It's not smokey. in addition to the arcade they also have bumper cars, roller skating, and laser tag. So there is really something for everyone. They have a full bar (except they no longer sell pitchers) and a separate "cafe" where you can find anything greasy. They almost always have a special at night ranging from "$1 bowling after 9pm" to "$8 all you can bowl". And if you are lucky Bobo will look over at you when you return your shoes, and in his deep voice say, "Thank you, baby".

Strike & Spare is more than a bowling alley it's an experience. Whether you are 5 or 55, Strike & Spare is bound to be a great time for anyone wanting to enjoy a fun night of bowling. Though I'm pretty sure that I am the worst bowler ever, I always seem to pitch Strike & Spare as the destination for nighttime amusement. Moreover with its 'eclectic' crowd I really can't think of a better place to people watch. If you are bored bowling or simply frustrated, their Arcade and Fun Center is always a good time. Personally I'm partial to Dance Dance Revolution or Buck Hunter. If you only have 2 quarters, however, play the carnival game; seriously with 2 quarters you could play for hours (for some reason it wont stop giving me free games). As for their food and beverages, I would suggest you eat elsewhere; after all it's bowling alley food. Their beer and booze assortment is pretty standard, though I will say that I was devastated when they stopped serving pitchers. Those coming with groups of drinkers now only have to option of a bucket.
