When we rescued Shadow, we had to find a vet pretty quickly because he had heartworms and an array of other health problems that needed to be dealt with. After trying 2 other vet clinics, we settled on Hillside because of the comforting feeling we got every time we had to take Shadow in.

Dr. French here is the shiz - she's so nice, welcoming, knowledgeable and EXTREMELY helpful. Every time we're in and she sees us in the lobby, she recognizes Shadow she comes over to say hi and he wags his tail like crazy (we think he's in love with her)! And that's always a good sign, right?

During some of his last heartworm days when he couldn't be active, we had to leave town and couldn't take him. We didn't want to board him in a normal kennel, because this time he needed special care and attention. He stayed over a weekend in Hillside, and I just KNOW they took great care of him. They walk the dogs several times a day, and if something ever happens there's a doc on staff to take care of him.

Hillside, we love you. And Shadow does too!

been customers at hillside since I moved to dallas in 97.   they took care of louie, my pomeranian, for over ten years until we (with their assistance) put him down last year.  they were also the vets that took care of my sisters cat until death as well.   they have a really comfortable way to have that procedure done.

they are great in my opinion.  they remember you, they have a big staff, and are open late and on the weekends.

not real sure about their boarding, never used that.

Once I moved into a house and established a more permanent residence than an apartment, I figured it was time to find a good vet that we could stick with and establish my kitty Bella as a patient. She is an indoor kitty and normally very healthy, but she still needs the occasional vaccinations and exams. I went to Hillside based on two things: recommendation from a friend and proximity to my house.

Once I started going there, I realized that this place has many more good points than just those two things. First, their hours are great. They stay open later in the evenings (even as late as 10pm some nights) and are also open on the weekend! This is so convenient for people who work and can't take off a ton of time for vet appointments. Their office is large and clean, and every member of the staff I have encountered is very friendly. They don't even roll their eyes at my cat, who hisses and growls menacingly every time a vet comes within 10 yards of her! Every time I call in need of an appointment, they always have something that fits my schedule perfectly.

When Bella had to have surgery to remove a growth on her leg, the staff was so great. They were very specific with their time table of what was going to happen, and they called and left messages with updates on my cell phone after the surgery was done. They were always quick to call me back when I phoned with a zillion questions about caring for her stitches after bringing her home.  I can tell the vets and employees here really do care about animals, and they are professional yet compassionate. Too bad I love them way more than my cat does!

I love this vet! They have great hours, they treat my pets great, resonable prices. My pug got stung by a bee and I had to take her to get the stinger pulled out becasue she would not let us do it, no matter how hard we tried. They did it for us, did not charge us a dime. We were certainly willing to pay for this service. That says a lot to me....I've been taking my pets there for about 3 years.

I LOVE Hillside vets! I've had my golden retriever for 2 and a half years now, but when she was a little puppy, she got very sick, possibly with parvo. Another dog from her litter was very sick too, and he was in a different city. At the time, they thought he was not going to make it. So, when she got sick with the same symptoms, I was so sad and thought I would probably lose her.

I took her to Hillside based on recommendations from friends. First of all, I called and they let me come in ASAP. I didn't wait for more than 2 minutes. The vet was awesome. She was very intelligent, kind, informative, honest and reassuring. I had to leave my puppy there for a week, and her chances of survival were pretty low. They saved her!! Every time I go in there, they always remember her name and are so welcoming. She's perfectly healthy and they were so good about updating me, letting me come see her any time, etc. They are so incredibly sweet there, from the docs to the girls up front.

Some conveniences: They have several doctors, so you can always get an appointment around the time you want. They stay open late, so if you work, you've got plenty of time to get your pet in and out. Also, if you do have a sick one, you can go see them late and early.

I have always been impressed with how kind, helpful and informative everyone is who works here. The hours are so convenient! Also, they have adoptions once in awhile too.  I definitely recommend Hillside to anyone!

I'm not really in a yelping mood, but wanted to share since I think they deserve it.  My best friend was over with her dog this weekend and she got out and was hit by a car.   Annabelle, a 10 month old boston terrier, was killed instantly, but not knowing what else to do we went to the vet.  This was before 10 am on Sunday morning, and we drove to 2 vets before finding one that was open.

As we burst in the door carrying this poor puppy wrapped in a blanket, both hysterical with tear streaked faces and bed head having been out of bed less than an hour, the waiting room was full and the Dr came immediately from behind the counter to assist.  She took Annabelle in the back and escorted us to a room where she talked calmly to us, helped calm Amy and tell us what the options were.

We didnt know what to do and they did all the right things.  Neither of us had been to this vet before, but they treated us like close friends and were very caring and sweet.  Annabelle didnt appear to have any injuries, which made it harder to believe that she wouldnt just get up and come home with us. I wish I could remember the Dr's name - she said all the right things and really made the awful situation better.

She brought us her collar and blanket and asked if we'd like to see her before we left.  When they put her on the table for us to say our goodbyes, the Dr was gently petting her and consoling us as if she had been a close friend.  They kept Annabelle until Amy could make the decision on what to do with her and assured us there would be no charge and take all the time we needed.

Despite the fact that Annabelle was still gone, leaving the vet I felt as if we had some closure and some direction - the staff there couldnt have been more professional and caring in a tragic and chaotic situation.

I found Hillside on Yelp shortly after adopting my cat Sunday and have been very happy with their services. The people working behind the desk are very friendly and efficient and I've never had to wait long. Their hours are convenient too, they're often open till 10pm on weeknights i.e., I haven't had to miss work. Dr. Huskey is very thorough and took the time to answer all my questions. I've had good luck here, so if you're looking for a new vet check them out.

I started going to Hillside based on Yelp comments and the fact that it is close to my new home.  My dog had a tumor that was growing daily and needed to be removed.  He had it surgically removed 8 days ago.  I am very impressed with the care this vet clinic shows.  I got a follow up call after two days just checking on him.  Then the doctor herself called a few days later with biopsy results.  Seems to be a great place for pets, and I will continue to go there for my dog.  The only draw back:  they must see lots of cats (which I'm highly allergic to) because I leave the clinic with hives, itchy eyes, etc. (and that's even when I take a benedryl before going)!

We've been using this vet for a year now at the recommendation of some friends. We are very happy with them. Their hours are wonderful and helpful for those who can't get to a vet between 9-5. I always get right in when I call to make an appointment and the staff and doctors are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them.

My dog Oscar has been going here since he was 3 months old, and we've had only good experiences.  I've seen a few different vets; Crittendon and Huskey were my favorites, but all of them made Oscar feel at ease and treated me respectfully.  All the workers were attentive and friendly to me and my dog.

Once Oscar's knee popped out of joint and he was freaking out pretty bad so I rushed him over to Hillside.  Well, by the time I got there (about 5 min later) his patella had slipped back into place and he was doing ok, but the vet examined him thoroughly anyway and the techs were really sweet to him.  The vet didn't even charge us for his time, even though he had worked us in at the last minute on a busy day.

I have never boarded my dog here, so I can't speak to the quality of that service, but for regular pet healthcare I think they are good.  The prices are competitive, and the hours are good for people with jobs, too.

I have taken my cat to Hillside since she was a kitten (she's 6 now) and have never had a bad experience.  I almost always see Dr. Stephanie Chritton - just ask for your preferred vet and make appts around their schedule, as you will most likely not see the same person each time if you don't ask.

Dr. Chritton has been nothing but wonderful and professional over the past 6 years.  She's so affectionate towards my very skiddish kitty and puts her at ease with soothing words and gentle handling.  If you've ever tried to get a 15lb hissing and spitting bear of a cat to the vet, you can appreciate her soothing effect.  Dr. Chritton explains everything she's doing, from basic procedures to injections and tests and always asks me if I have any questions or concerns or if I've noticed any change in my cat's behavior/eating/sleeping/bathroom habits.  I appreciate her proactive questions and attention.

Once when I was living in a new apartment, she was having respiratory/sneezing issues and I couldn't figure out what was wrong.  After taking her in and talking with Dr. Chritton for some time, she had a hunch that chemicals in my new apartment's carpet might be the culprit.  I would have never thought of it had she not mentioned it, but after a simple allergy injection, she was good as new.

Although Greg and Hollis' experiences are truly horrific and heartbreaking, I feel like this may be the result of one or two bad vets.  I'd be interested to know if any action was taken against the vets in question, such as reporting them to the State Board of Veterinary Examiners.  I certainly wouldn't want those vets treating any other animals and I would hope my fellow vet-goers would keep me informed of any malpractice at Hillside, as well as take the proper steps to ensure it didn't go unreported.

My only complaint with Hillside is that it does tend to get very busy, so I have on occasion waited for extended amounts of time to be seen.  That said, their generous weekday hours (M-F, 7 to 7) are very conducive to my 8 to 5 work schedule, so it's hard to fault them...  Beyond that, I can highly recommend Dr. Chritton without hesitation.

I would never recommend Hillside to anyone.  I took my dacshund, he had non-stop diarrehia.  They kept him a week, charged me $976, and couldnt figure out what was wrong. Dr finally said he was PROBABLY in kidney failure and recommend I have him put down to end his misery. I wanted some time, so I took him with me to my mom's house out in the courntry.  She called her country vet and described what was wrong, and asked if he had any more advice.  The old country vet said, "oh sure, he's just wormy.  Get him some worm meds from Wal Mart and he'll be fine in the morning." We did, and my little dog lived another 6 years to the ripe old age of 16.  They are a little bit too fast to recommend putting animals down at Hillside.  Not to mention the $900 they charged me for doing I dont know what.

After reading Greg's review, I am a little shocked!  I have been taking my cats, Buddy & Vince, to Hillside Vet for a few years now & fortunately, have had only positive experiences.  My cat, Buddy, has had some "irritable bowel-like" problems & our vet has been great about working with him.  They tried some different antibiotics & tests and decided that switching his food would be his best bet.  He is doing great now!  I am so sorry to hear about your poor experience, Greg.  All I can say is that our experience has been good & that I feel that the staff treat the animals with respect.

I truly wish I could rate this clinic with 0 stars.  It seems to really be hit or miss, because I have 2 friends in my building who take their dogs to Hillside, but I had an awful experience.  I used to volunteer at a very reputable animal shelter and after telling one of the vet techs about my terrifying experience at Hillside she told me that they refer to it as "Killside," and that is precisely what I have called it ever since (and it takes a lot to make me that angry).

It was 4 years ago and my elderly cat had been throwing up all night.  I discovered her in the morning - her chin, neck, and ruff covered and matted in dried and fresh vomit and bile.  Needless to say I was terrified.  I have grown up with cats because my mother used to breed them, and have had my cat since she was born.  I am well aware that cats throw up often, but this was not just normal hairballs.  She could barely keep her eyes open.  I checked the skin on her neck and she was extremely dehydrated.  She wouldn't stand up.  She wouldn't bathe herself, and she is fastidiously clean.

I had recently moved to lower Greenville and Hillside was the first vet that popped into my mind because I always saw it on the way to Pet Supplies Plus.  I called them and found out they opened at 7am.  I rushed her there as soon as they opened.  Told them the story.  The clinic was a bit crowded but I didn't see that as a bad thing.  They treated me fine I guess, but they didn't seem to have a sense of urgency or take me very seriously.  I should have left right then, but I simply didn't know where else to go.  I thought that since there were lots of people there, that they had a strong clientelle and that I was just being a "worried mom."  I left her there and headed to work.

At 10am I still had not heard anything from the vet.  I started to worry, but I didn't want to be neurotic so I decided to give it another hour, assuming they had looked at her but just hadn't called me yet.
At 11am I couldn't take it anymore, and I called only to find out that they hadn't even looked at her yet!!  I was LIVID.  If I had any idea that they would have left her in a cage for 4 hours I would have rushed her to an emergency vet.  They said they would look at her right away.  What?  You mean you're only going to FINALLY look at her because I called to check in on you?  Around 2pm they finally called to say that she had an intestinal infection and was severely dehydrated (um, YEAH!).  They put her on an IV 7 HOURS after I brought her in.  I picked her up after work, got some antibiotics and Pepcid AC (yes, apparently you can give your cat Pepcid AC cut in half).  She was fine in a few days, but I have never forgotten how they didn't take her symptoms seriously and took so so long to even look at her, and ONLY when I called to check in on her.

Now I take my animals to Dr. Sheets at the Animal Clinic of Grand Prairie on Beltline just south of 30.  They are amazing.  Attentive, well priced, no fancy office (but I don't care about that).  They've been there since the 1950's.  I have a greyhound now, and due to their thin skin, very little body fat, and small frames, they are extremely sensitive to anesthesia, certain medications, etc., so it was extremely important to me to find a vet that is reputable with greyhounds.  A lovely woman at Pet Supplies Plus recommended ACGP because she has 2 greyhounds and when I took Maggie in I was immediately comforted when I saw a greyhound already in there.  They saw me right away and spayed her that day, without an appointment, and they even helped me out with the invoice because she was a shelter dog that was adopted out to me with fleas, heartworms, and was also pregnant (they didn't tell me about the fleas and babies at the animal control).  She is doing so much better and I am so relieved to finally have a vet I trust wholeheartedly.

We love Hillside.  After bad experiences with my sick puppy at two other vets, I asked friends for a recommendation and saw Dr. Huskey.  We've been going to her ever since for all our pets.  She always takes all the time needed to chat with us and answer all my questions.  My dog even wags his tail when he sees her - and he HATES going to the vet office. As far as all the negative comments on Hillside - you just have to find an office and a vet that clicks with you.  Vets are human just like the rest of us and their patients cannot tell them what is wrong.  Diagnosis can be so difficult.  If I'd stayed with the other vets, I know my dog would be dead, but I am sure plenty of other people like them.  I've never been treated rudely at Hillside by anyone and while they aren't cheap, I don't find their pricing outrageous.  I've also seen Drs. Chritton and Sinapi and really liked them a lot too.  I don't think Hillside is out to scam people at ALL - I've even had them give me dosages for OTC meds for my pets instead of charging me for prescriptions.  Also, when my dog has had bloodwork done for his kidney values, they only charge me to test that value, not the whole blood panel.  I do dog rescue too, so I have dealt with a ton of vets over the years who vet my fosters.  Dr. Huskey is the best of all the vets I've ever seen.  I'd recommend her to anyone.

This great facility has some of the worst vets I've ever encountered.  There are multiple vets in this practice, and one cannot have just one vet for his pet -- whoever is available at a given time will see your animal.  My cat had kidney problems and was very sick, and was hospitalized at Hillside for a week.  Three Hillside vets misdiagnosed her, and recommended that she be put to sleep.  After bringing my cat to a specialist, I learned immediately that all she had was an infection, and all she needed was antibiotics.  She was treated and cured by the vet who made this discovery, and is still alive today.  Had I listened to Hillside, she would be dead.  Also, the boarding accommodations are terrible, and the animals are left alone overnight.  The clinic is open until midnight, and one night, I went in to visit my cat who was hospitalized there, and saw that her food was all tumped over and there was urine in her filthy cage.  I brought this to the staff's attention, and was told the doctor was too busy, and didn't have time to check on the animals.  The next day, Hillside changed its policies to prohibit pet owners from visiting their pets at night -- obviously, Hillside did not want pet owners to see the conditions under which their pets were hospitalized.  I would never return to see this vet, and do not recommend this clinic to anyone.
