HILLBILLY HALL, yes, that's truly the name of this place, tucked in the woods of the Sourland Mountains, up above the town of Hopewell. God this place is a gem. And I'm so pleased to be the first to review.
Hillbilly Hall is a restaurant and bar. The bar area features a huge square bar, pool table, popcorn machine, darts and video games. The bartenders are always very friendly and attentive, even if you're not a regular. And they make nice, strong cocktails. The hamburgers this place serves up are amazing. The rest of the food is decent enough.
Every Tuesday is country line dancing - hee haw! - and karaoke on Fridays. They also host a bunch of various events throughout the year including pig roasts, prime rib nights and live bands.
You'll find a lot of bikers, hunters and local-yokels hanging here. The crowd, well, it's Hillbilly Hall. What do you expect? But don't be intimidated by the name, everyone is welcome. Seriously, check it out.
