I grew up playing Hillbilly Golf and still love it as an adult! Proud to say I've been putt-putting here for over 15 years.

Hillbilly Golf is a mini-golf course built into a mountainside. Golfers pick up their equipment on the street level, then ride an old-fashioned incline to the top of the mountain. What a view! http://s3-media3.px.ye...

Once at the top, golfers can exit the incline to the left or right. Each side has a different 18-hole course to play. That's right, there are two courses built into the mountainside! In traditional mini-golf fashion, there are obstacles to dodge on each hole. Hillbilly Golf features eccentricities such as old-fashioned steel plows, wine barrels, a covered wagon, and outhouses.

The courses are adequately challenging for both children and adults. Be sure to play both; they are fantastically different from one another. After you're finished playing, the incline picks you up at Hole 18. There is also a footbridge for pictures and taking in the view. Be sure to wave at the new people riding the incline to the top of the course!

    Price per person: $10.00
Activity Time: 60 - 90 minutes per golf course

Okay, I actually did this over ten years ago.  The hubby and I considered doing it while we were in town, we just didn't have time.  I can't imagine much has changed in ten years so I will just tell you it was a blast!  I have never heard of a similar putt putt experience.  I even still have our score card and the little Hillbilly Golf pencil.  And no, I'm not telling my score!

While planning a trip to Dollywood, I stumbled on Hillbilly Golf online.  It just sounded so hokey that I had to go!

When we finally got there, it was raining and I thought I was going to miss out since we were only in town for 2 days.  Luckily, the rain let up just enough that they let us play.

I'm from Orlando and have seen many mini-golf places.  Sure it's not the hardest course around, but riding the cart up the hill is awesome!  My friend and I just had fun being silly taking pictures with the props on the course.

Anywhere that requires a funicular ride up a hill as part of the activity is a winner in my book, but it helps that the rest of the game is fun as well.

Even with torrential downpours earlier in the day, the course held up well. Not tons of bugs around trying to eat you alive, and even though it's adjacent to the busiest road in the city, it manages to stay secluded.

At $10 for 18 holes it's a bit of a stretch, the holes aren't really challenging (I shot a 39 - 2 under par -  and I SUCK at putting), and it's missing a lot of cheesy animatronics that the other places around have. But given what it is, I found it more than acceptable as part of the 20 person group we brought there.

We all know what mini- or goofy- gold is. This place meets all the requirements. What sets this place apart is that it is on the steep side of a hill. You won't get any big views from the hill as it is heavily wooded. What you do get is a fun ride to the top of the hill. Tickets are purchased at the bottom and then players hop on an incline lift (rail car) to make the slow journey to the top of the hill. The game begins at the top and each hole is just a little bit further down the steep slope. The game ends at the bottom.

The many pictures posted on this side reveal a rustic atmosphere (you won't find any windmills or giant clown faces here... so keep that in mind if that is what you like).

I have always visited during the day, but I've passed the place several times at night, while looking at the lights shining out from the darkness between the trees. One of these days, I have to try this place at night because it looks like an even better experience.

I love hillbilly golf! It isn't mini-golf without outhouses.  Just saying.  I've been to Gatlinburg twice and I've been to Hillbilly Golf twice.  I think what makes it unique is that you have to take a lift up the mountain just to play.  It isn't your typical "run of the mill" mini-golf place.  There are tractors, plows, outhouses along the way...of course there are, duh? Lol.  I believe I have some pics I can post of when I went.  It had been raining, but it was still awesome.  If you are ever in Gatlinburg, take a ride up the side of the hill and putt putt!

This is one of the best in Gatlinburg simply because once you get to the top it's very secluded. It has two sides which is real nice and it always seems to be a bit cooler up top.
I was one of those people who for years looked at the sign and said, "no thanks". When I actually tried it, I loved it.
The only downfall is that they don't accept credit or debit cards. Cash only.

The chairlift up to the top is a fun little novelty. You really have to play the course to appreciate it.  It was a stroke (haha, get it?) of genius to take this plot of land on the side of big hill just outside the tourist strip and turn it into a mini-golf course.

The holes are basic mini-golf difficulty, nothing too special ... but definitely fun... so fun we forgot to add up the scores until hours later.

This is now one of my favorite mini golf courses of all time! It is set up on a mountain side in the woods, very cool atmosphere! You have to ride up the mountain side in this little cart to get to the starting point of the course. the course isn't overly difficult, but it is well maintained and fun. At the end, you have to wait for the little cart to come pick you up and then ride back down the mountain side. It was great and the staff was friendly. The only thing to keep in mind, is that they only take cash. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mini golf!

Outstanding time. Trolley car takes you up the mountain where you play 18 holes of putt putt golf...in and out of outhouses, tractors, etc... Great time. Very friendly and courteous staff. Went on a 95 degree day and the mountain trees keep you nice and cool. Take the time to do this!

    Hillbilly Golf - Gatlinburg

We've been playing HillBilly Golf up in Gatlinburg for years.  This is anything but your ordinary putt putt or mini-golf place - starting from the incline ride to the course...

If you are in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge - I'd recommend this place over any of the other mini-golf sites in the area.  We've played quite a few of them but it seems like we have the most fun here at HillBilly Golf!

I love Hillbilly Golf and make a point of going there every time I vacation to Gatlinburg!  Like other reviewers have said, it's not the hardest course but it's definitely the most unique.  Riding the cart up the mountain to play is really cool and it's just a fun experience.  The cost was $11/game and it's CASH ONLY!

We took a trip to the Smoky Mountains for summer vacation this year.  Many mini-golf courses were visible in Pigeon Forge along the "vegas strip" - we might have settled for Ripley's or glow-in-the-dark golf nearby, but a local suggested "Hill Billy minigolf" down the road in Gatlinburg and we took him up on it.  SO GLAD we did - had an excellent evening golfing amidst the fireflies on a very unique course!

The line was out the door and across the parking lot, a testament to the popularity among locals and vacationers alike.  Get there a little early... but the line moves fast.

A unique mini golf course with free parking - if you can get a spot. Even if you can't the lot on the other side is only 75 cents per hour.

As to the course it is nice because the trees are full grown and they provide good shade. As other reviewers noted you get to the start of the course via an incline machine - cool!

The course isn't loaded with electronic gizmos and it is a little basic but the course is well maintained.

Overall it's a nice place to enjoy some leisurely fun!  The current cost is $10 per adult and a bit less for children.  We would do it again!

Okay, so the big draw here is that is way up in the trees...and that is cool, as is the incline ride fun...but this was one of the more boring mini-golf courses I have played.  Nothing above a par 3 (and very few of those).  I kind of expected more...as one friend noted, it is probably quite lucrative that you can't see the course from the street or I don't know how many folks would go.

Yes this place is old, but it is AWESOME.

There are plenty of cookie cutter, new fangled mini golf places out there.  The charm in Hillbilly Golf is that it's OLD SCHOOL.  You start with an incline ride to the top then work your way down the hill (watch your step).  Littered among the course is some old farm equipment.  The holes are a little beat up but it all adds to the charm.

This is one of the most memorable mini golf courses I've ever played and we're sure to go back any time we're in town.

Hillbilly Golf is unique being a mini golf built into the side of a hill. It is pretty neat that you take a cart up the hill to start playing. However, the holes are not very interesting. On top of that, it is pretty pricey. $10 per person seemed a little steep.

Good for kids, mediocre for adults.  You work your way down the side of the mountain, which is nice/scenic.  Holes 1-17 aren't all that challenging.  Hole 18 steals your ball, without any challenge whatsoever, so really it's only 17 holes.  Overall, for two ppl in their late 20's... meh.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this place is old, but it's also rather unique and fun.

With only a small booth at street level, the entire mini golf course is built into a steep hill that sits directly behind the booth. To get started, you pay ($10/ea. for adults when we went), pick out your putter and hop on a lift which takes you to the top of the courses. From there, you choose one of the two 18-hole courses, working your way down the hill as you play.

The courses have a rustic feel to them, using old farming equipment as obstacles. Due to this, the age of the course added to its authenticity, rather than detracting from the experience.

There are newer, garish mini golf courses all over the Gatlinburg area, but this place is fun, unique, and fits right in with the motif of the region.

Great fun just in the ride up alone.  The ride to the golfing area is very unique and the course is up in the woods on the side of a small mountain.  The course itself is fun but given you're riding a small train to the top, you just can't beat the once in a lifetime mini golfing experience you'll find here.  It's cheap to and near all kinds of great attractions and food as well.

Very fun & unique mini golf course! You start off with an incline to the top, and then work your way down the mountain. As others have mentioned, it's very 'old school', but it's SUPER fun! Not to be missed!

Fun time with friends. Better than a lot of the mini golf we have been to elsewhere. Price is about the same.  I would do it again.
