I did not actually stay here - my friend was getting married here.
On the day of the wedding, the bride and us bridesmaids needed a place to change and get ready.  We were graciously offered a hotel room to use for the day free of charge.
The original wedding was supposed to be outside, but because of the weather, we had to use the Inn's chapel.  The colors in the chapel are not appealing (dusty rose pink) and clashed with the wedding's colors (chocolate brown and white).
The reception room was setup beautifully, and the Inn set up everything on the tables for us.  There was very minimal work that was left for the bridesmaids to do!
There are a lot of beautiful backdrops for the wedding pictures.  The gardens are lush and full of flowers, and there are several stairways (inside and out) that are great for wedding party photos.

my family and I had a lovely visit to the Hill House Inn it was hard to leave , we love the fact that it's walking distance to town but still nice and quiet , the continental breakfast was nice -it was a relief  not having to go find something in town when we just want to get on the road  . we had a suite  with fire place which was really relaxing  everything was neat and clean , the staff seemed really personable and happy to help . most of all I was so thrilled to have gotten to stay in the same hotel they filmed some ' murder she wrote' episodes at - definitely our new Mendocino coast  destination .

Recently, my husband and I took a quick trip to Mendo after going to Napa for a few days. Fortunately, we only went for one night. The town of Mendocino is very quaint and nice, though the weather was very foggy and cold. We were quite disappointed with Hill House Inn, however. We paid $189 for a "garden view" room, so we were expecting it to be fairly nice. The inn looks great from the outside...pretty gardens and looks well maintained. We felt differently once we entered the room, which smelled very musty. We almost asked for another room, but decided to tough it out. The decor was extremely outdated and I was scared to touch the comforter (usually the most germ-laden part of a hotel room). The hair dryer was so crummy I gave up trying to dry my hair with it and the iron didn't work at all. The only plus side was that it was close to town, so we were able to walk to dinner (at Cafe Beaujolais, which was AWESOME...review coming soon). Also, they allow dogs, so that was good for our pup. Overall, not a great place..certainly not worth the price.

Very cute inn with a great setting.  We had an ocean view room and the views were truly spectacular for $139.  The room itself was a bit dated but it did have a fireplace and a VCR of all things.  In sum, great views, great location but definitely could use some updating.

My Hubby and I just got back from 4 days at the Hill House Inn. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The town of Mendocino was quaint and lovely and the the coastal area itself was breathtaking. The Hill House Inn was nice (although somewhat dated) but we had a great view of the coast from our room. The bed was very comfortable and the Inn itself was very quiet. (Although that may have been due to the Thanksgiving Holiday) I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have a restaurant on-site for a daily breakfast. and/or lunch when we were there. I had the impression when we booked that they did have a working restaurant. However,  I believe they are going thru some type of process to get it up and running again. Another thing I noticed was that some of the Adorondack porch furniture was in disrepair. (a leg missing here and there on the foot rests) It may seem like a small thing but for a well known place that type of attention to detail shouldn't be overlooked. All in all a nice, restful, time. We'll definetly go back one day...
