Highline College played a vital role in my American education. From 1996 until 2001, I went there, and I left with a good education. The school helped me with my studies by helping me land a part-time job at a local gymnastics facility. I wholeheartedly suggest for professional and academic advancement.

I absolutely love Highline. I am reluctant leaving this review as I am afraid their financial aid office will screw me even more. It's like they like f***ing with you. I have never had this much trouble with financial aid. They are jerks who keep making me jump through hoops for no reason. I gave them everything they asked for... now they want me to take off work to go in and fill out fotm IN PERSON. Never been asked to do this anywhere else. Honestly I wish I would have stayed at CWU. Their financial aid staff were awesome. Again I LOVE Highline but their financial aid staff are horrible and making me regret my decision to transfer. The school is awesome... financial aid staff ridiculously cruel... don't care that I won't be able to pay my rent because they want me to take off work. I am being punished for transferring to Highline.

Very disorganized application process. Staff is always short, busy, or unavailable to help.

The staff is very friendly, however financial aid SUCKS here. If you are using financial aid, I don't recommend going to this school! I've had my FAFSA submitted for MONTHS now and haven't heard anything back. Financial aid isn't on top of anything and it's ridiculous that I've had to send so many emails. And I definitely qualify for financial aid as I'm a single mother on one minimum wage income. Financial aid slacks at their job and doesn't care about their students, it's really sad. 10/10 would recommend not going to school here.

Review style: 4 the music fan n a side of education

a very nice little community college in the Des Moines area.. my experiences was a decade ago, as DJ Breakaway; also known as, since I did a few events 4 them, the Highline Comm. College DJ.. well, their Blk Student Union/Int'l Student Union had me do some events 4 them which included:

      1) a party w/ regular rap, R&B, hip-hop, neo-soul, reggaetone..

*for Item 2, this is more of a tribute paragraph to 1 of my passions: New Jack Swing! so I did another party:

      2) a NJS (New Jack Swing) Party which I busted out my Tammy Lucas, Guy, Bell Biv Devoe, Today, Samuelle, JoDeCi, Mary J. Blige, Paper Boy, N2Deep, Tony Toni Tone, Basic Black, Public Annoucement f/ R. Kelly, Big Daddy Kane, Heavy D & The Boyz, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Riff, Shai, Silk, H-Town, Xscape, TLC, SWV, En Vogue, Silk Tymes Leather, Keisha Jackson, Keith Sweat, Joe Public, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Shanice, Troop, The Rude Boys, Bobby Brown, II D Xtreme, Entouch, Christopher Williams, Father MC, Candyman, A Lighter Shade of Brown, Another Bad Creation, Kid 'N Play, P.M. Dawn, Johnny Kemp, Men At Large, Portrait, Perfect Gentlemen.. just so many don't get me started! ha ha n then

      3) a brkfst event where it was a piece of cake, as I played music softly in the bkgd in their cafeteria

but during the time.. I had fantastic memories of DJ'ing here n working w/ their student body.. they r so friendly, so personable n lively dancing.. my last time ever DJ'ing was here in '09.. as I retired since then

*short story* since where I started DJ'ing no longer exists.. I started in '04 as a DJ 4 Red Lion Hotel n love all kinds of music.. as 4 those of u who have been a part of my pg. knows I love: Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soft Rock, Neo-Soul, New Wave, New Jack Swing, 80s Freestyle, Funk, Electro-Funk, New Orleans Bounce, Hyphy, 80s & 90s Hong Kong Pop, Reggaetone, Progressive Rock, Texas Blues..

*I want to thank T for helping and paving the way for me to DJ. Thank you brother!

music is indeed good 2 the soul n I thank u Highline 4 ur kind staff n body working w/ me 2 create those classic memories

      Cheers!

college is racist towards students of asian descent (most notably chinese students) Residence staff are bad at managing students and lots of bullying happens behind closed doors here. Would not recommend. Professors were great. everyone else was not

I really like coming to this college! I am in the personal training program here at Highline. My only complaint is the financial aid department my first quarter here they left my file sitting for months. I didn't even get aid until Spring I started in Fall quarter. They don't tell you deadlines and some of the people working there are extremely rude. Other than that I'm enjoying my time here. My advice before starting here though is look at the catalog for what you want to do and then look for who the advisor for that program is unless you plan to just go for your genre AA degree! Otherwise you will be wasting your time as the main advisors will just tell you they can't help you and to schedule with the advisor for your program. Also fill out financial aid early otherwise you will be waiting forever to hear anything from them

My books spread out on the empty table....
I'm really early so it's really quiet out in the hallway! Perfect place to study because I'm to lazy to walk to the library

I'm a new student at Highline and my experience with admissions, financial aid, and registration has been an absolute nightmare. I transferred as a post-bac student from Gonzaga University where the administrative faculty actually helped the students with the admissions process. So far, I have encountered endless unreturned phone calls and emails and no one is willing to go above and beyond. I am frustrated with the lack of responsiveness from administration and hope that this is not every student's experience.

Luckily the professors seem intelligent and willing to help the students learn.

Don't ever take anyone's word for anything they loose paperwork which seems more of a dishonesty type move however always get a copy of proof that things are as they say because you will be told your good to go with a smile ...then-when the quarter starts you can't go.
It's a school population control game they do to student aid Students only.
Sounds like Discrimination to me but keep it all documented or you will miss out quarters of your school plan, and that's the point on their end to discourage and cut down aid.
I seen many students yelling and crying and told they are missing things and can't attend for the quarter I also heard and been through myself it's so common it should be investigated.
