Cheapest gas in the Davis area may be found here (actually, all the Hess stations in the Camberville area are cheap. You can tell because that's where the cabs fill up), and its ATM likes my ING Direct ATM card. Actually, vice versa, thanks to the AllPoint Network.

It's no Gas with a Smile, whose convenience store included jeans and PS/2 (as in the computer port, not the gaming console) keyboards, but it's a quality place nonetheless.

Hess, I love to hate you.

Ok, yes, you have the cheapest gas around and I still go to you to fill'er up, BUT:

1) Why, oh why, do all the people who pull into your parking lot drive like dumbasses and try to finagle their way in and out of the lot at awkward right angles, holding up traffic, and making me curse at them from inside my car?

2) Why was your air pump machine broken for 3 weeks?

3) Why are your gas pumps very often out of order?

4) Why are your attendants soulless asshats? They watched from the window as I drove from pump to pump wondering why no gas was coming out, until i finally had to walk up to the Kwikimart and ask them wtf was going on. They replied "No gas." -- "No gas at all of the pumps?!?" "No gas." Well put up a fricken sign up, why don't you? And as far as I can tell, their legs work, so why didn't they come out and tell me all the pumps were broken instead of snickering from the window? Jerks.

Not only do they have the cheapest gas around, but they also have, by far, the cheapest diesel around. Diesel here is about 20/gallon cheaper than diesel at most other stations (where it is usually about the same as regular gasoline). This is not only the closest diesel pump to me, but the cheapest, and as I drive a diesel car, it's just win win.

Plus, they're pumping the new ultra-low sulfur diesel here already. If you don't know, the lack of ultra-low sulfur in the US is the reason we need hybrids to break about 30 MPG. Modern diesel engines, such as the ones they have in Europe, can approach 100 MPG. Soon we'll be able to get those here too, thanks to stations like Hess that are pumping ultra-low sulfur diesel (and to Congress who mandated that it start to be phased in).

So yeah, this is my favorite gas station around.

this place used to be gas with a smile.  never been to gas with a smile so i can't compare the two.

i'm basing my review solely on the price of their gas.  it is the cheapest gas station around the cambridge area by far.  they typically beat other stations by 5 cents a gallon.  that goes for the high test as well.  i filled up 2 days ago and the high test here was 2.51 while the lowest at other places were at least 2.59.

it's self serve here which i personally like more then full serve, not that it matters because i generally ride a motorcycle most of the time and they alwyas hand me the pump when i go full serve.  i have a thing about other people touching my vehicle.  i also never trust those gas station guys taking my credit card either.  it's never happend, but i always get the feeling that they're swiping your credit card number.  i also like to pump my own gas.  i had aspired to pump gas professionally one day.  i still might attain that dream, but i still don't like those guys.

i haven't been inside their convienience store yet.  it looks like they sell scrath tickets inside there.
