Heritage Park Regional Library
12 reviews for Heritage Park Regional Library
This is the first library I've set foot in in the last 5 years. When I go into Asian mode and want to save instead of spend, I go to the library. Recently I decided to borrow some books on travel. While this library is small, they have a pretty decent availability.
It's nearly impossible to find parking on a weekend (who knew that people still went to libraries instead of bookstores to go and read books they will NOT buy?), so minus 1 star. BUT, I am adding the star back because of a recent incident.
So, I dropped off my travel books on the counter and went on my merry way. That night, I get an e-mail from "Diana" from the library. It appears that an undisclosed amount of moola was left between a couple of the books. She said to come back to the library and claim it.
Stupid me... I left a Benjamin (yes, good ol' Ben Franklin) in between two books to kind of flatten it out (I hate curled up bills). When I went to get the books off my counter, I just grabbed the stack of books,
When I went to the library the next day, one of the supervisors came to sign off on my retrieval of the dough. She looked at me and said, "You don't look blonde!" I paused and said, "Well... I do have my moments."
So, I am very grateful that Diana notified me of my missing cash. May good karma come right back at ya!
It's good to know that there are still honest people out there, especially during these economic times.

Not a bad library at all. The staff is really friendly and they can help you find anything. It's clean inside but a little dated in appearance. Lots of great books and you can use the online service to place books on hold (for 25 cents each) and if they're at another library in the OCPL system they will send them over here for you to pick up.
My only complaint is the paperbacks area, I can never find anything in there. They need more shelf space to organize it all better!
Otherwise I love this library and I'm here several times a week getting new books.

A quaint library with a great used-book "Friends of the Library" bookstore on the side. However, I feel that the interior could do with a little renovation to better maximize the space, as it seems a little fusty. Not exactly a place I would want to read at for an extended period of time...the lighting really gets to me. But being the non-native transplant that I am, I am going to leave it at that.
In terms of providing the information that I need, I would have to say that the collection isn't as well stocked as I expected. The fines for overdue books are a little steep (but I should be better about keeping track of that, eh?) But all in all, a nice community library.

being the total library nerd I am, I am always borrowing and returning books. Most of the time, the books I want aren't actually at the library so I have to request them online and have them delivered to the library (for each request, you pay a quarter once the book comes in). I don't like the rental section where you can borrow new books for a few days for a buck or so.
But the reason I'm giving the library five full twinkling stars is that once my checkbook got jammed into one of the books I borrowed (i have a massive handbag, alright?). Yes, I basically gave the library my blank checkbook, not that there is money in the account, but they wouldn't know. I immediately got several phone calls from the library informing me that they had found the checkbook and reassuring me the checkbook was safe (or really, I probably wouldn't have missed it until my next cable bill was due). My poor baby checkbook. When I rushed back in a panic, they unlocked a safe where they were keeping my checkbook. Very kind - and much more careful than me.

I just visited the Irvine Heritage Park Regional Library this afternoon and I was very impressed with the resources available there. The best part of my visit was the magazine selection. They had most of the popular magazines available with a wide range of subjects. Not only does the library have a great selection of books and magazines, the seating was ample as well....just wish they had some couches i could snooze on. i didn't know until later, but there was a nice patio facing the small pond and park. I hope to see it expand.
this library is tiiiight... they be havin all kinds of festivities up in here! I used to come here a lot cuz you can go online here using their computer and they let you print out 5 copies of whatever for free. Plus, you can just chill on the lil couches and bring you own laptop and do your thang that way if you want. BUT don't talk on your cell phone cuz the top flight security of the world will try to deebo you, he kicc'd me out! I was like "really?? i just got kicc'd out the library?!!?"

The library (pronounced "lie-berry"), of my childhood. How can I not love this place?
I actually came here for the first time in about eight (8!!!!!) years today. And aside from the PCs, the search engine to find books, and all the new items in the library, it hasn't changed that much (um, so... I guess it has changed a bit then).
As I went to grab a few books and fill out a library card form (since the last one I used mine was a while back), I waited in line, handed the librarian the form, and waited. After a few seconds she asked "what's your middle name?" I told her and she then stated, "you are here in the system". Wow, how's that for record keeping?
I paid the $2 replacement card fee and just before I was on my merry way, she said "oh, you have a fine". Just as she finished the sentence I had that episode of Seinfeld in my mind - the one where the library cop is investigating Jerry for a book he supposedly never returned. Horror instantly took hold of me.
But then she said "its 60 cents. From 1995." Hahahahahaha, wow. A 60cent fine from 1995. Yay for upgrading their databases!
Anyways, i paid the fine, grabbed my books, and headed out. Lots of good memories in this place, and I was able to add one more to the pool.

We had some time to kill before going over to my aunty's house for dinner so we stopped by this library to enjoy the cool airconditioning and relax a bit. They were really friendly and opened an account (internet only as I requested because I wasn't going to borrow any books) so I could use the computer. There weren't many computers, only 8 of them which were internet accessible, but I was able to get on one about 5 minutes of wait time. Only drawback is that you can only log in once a day and use time is only an hour, so you can't log off after 5 minutes and then try to log back on again. There is a really nice children's section as well as a bookstore where you can purchase copies of used library books at a fraction of the cost. We bought 3 books for 80 cents!!! What a bargain. It is a rather small library, but the service was just exceptional.
UPDATE:
If you choose to use wifi with your laptop it kinda sucks because the connections is very iffy. It drops when you're in the middle of something and then you're not able to get back on. I spent the entire afternoon trying to do some work but ended up only completing about 10% of it.

I really just go the the Friends of the Library bookstore here. When I was moving, I donated a ton of books (novels, old text books, cook books), and the volunteers seemed really grateful. I like to browse for books when I have some spare time. You can really find some bargains. I got a hardcover novel that was recently released for $5, and older hardcovers are $1 and paperbacks $0.25. They also have bargain racks for $0.10, but I haven't bothered looking. Then when I'm done reading the books, I just donate them back to the library.
I also have used the restroom here, and it's usually pretty clean for a public restroom, and definitely cleaner than the one at the Youth Services Building. It's a convenient location when I need a pit stop before running with friends from Heritage Park or the Irvine High School track (in case you were wondering why I'm familiar with these public restrooms).

I've been going to this place since I was in 1st grade. As a kid this place seems perfect, because I was always able to find the book i wanted to read. But the more I tried to used it for high school, the harder I found it was to find proper books for research. Every time I've used the book searching system I became frustrated because it just has never worked for me. But I do like the used bookstore. So this isn't the best library, but it is alright for a neighborhood library.
As a student at Irvine High, this library was directly half way between my home and my high school. Talk about convenient! I spent many a night there studying, doing research, etc to make sure I got into a good college. My BA from University of Washington thanks you!

The great thing about Irvine is that kids have so many options when it comes to activities when compared to my home town, Downey (memories of fights breaking out in and around the library). As a result, even though this library is pretty much right next to Irvine High, there are very few young students hanging out at the library even right after school and the place is reasonably quiet. Wifi is reliable today. The only comfortable and quiet place in Irvine where I can escape to and get free Wifi at the same time. Although Jack in the Box and McDonald's have free Wifi now, they are not comfortable.
