    This community center was a big part of growing up for me in the mid 80's.   They had concerts, and teen events that provided a safe place to be, where you could be without your parents and still have fun.

    They had concerts here and casino nights, and pool tables and ping pong.   The employees/counselors here really took care of kids.

    I haven't been in there in a while, but I see that it's still functioning.   They also hold summer classes for younger kids there, and my daughter took a few of the art classes.

    Friendly and competent staff.

    Teen Camp here in the mid 2000s!! The center has several offices, a theater, ping pong/pool tables, and a movie room. The park around it has a nice lake, a community library, large grassy fields, baseball fields, a playground, some basketball courts, a bunch of tennis courts, and some raquetball courts. Around that is a fire station, a swimming pool complex, and Irvine High. Great place to hang around!

    I have mixed feelings about this place. For one it offers great activities for kids as well as an after school program for children. Only thing is, I think it's more suited to older children more than younger. There are more older (3rd grade up) children and sometimes, those children tend to pick on the younger children (1st graders).

    The center hires college students which is great when it comes to doing activities. There is homework assistance available too if your child needs it. They will pick your child up from school if needed, they offer snacks (all for a small fee) and you have until 6pm to pick your child up.

    They DO have good programs for kids, but you do have to keep abreast of the situation because sometimes the staff can be scatter brained.

    Like everywhere else in California "early bird gets the worm" here!

    This park is fantastic. It offers so much and if you get there early then you should not have a problem securing whatever it is you are coming here for.

    Park amenities:

       * 3 pools
       * 2 multi-use buildings
       * 4 restrooms
       * 11 drinking fountains
       * 2 child play areas
       * 1 open play area
       * 1 amphitheater
       * 1 lake/pond
       * 2 concession stands
       * 3 lighted soccer fields
       * 12 lighted tennis courts
       * 3 lighted basketball courts
       * 1 volleyball court
       * 2 lighted racquetball courts
       * 2 lighted ball diamonds

    Can your park do all that?

    If you live in Irvine, come by Heritage Park Community Center and pick up some FREE compact fluorescent light bulbs!

    Other than that, I mostly stop in here to use the restrooms before meeting my running club in the parking lot, plus we have our monthly club meetings in the room upstairs.  Sometimes the restrooms are messy (why do kids like to throw toilet paper and paper towels around so much and put sand in the sinks?) but they were recently refurbished with self-flushing toilets.  This is a huge plus since kids sometimes forget to flush.

    This park gets major points for the following:

    -Being so shady. On really hot days, all those trees are sooo nice.
    -Convienently located bathrooms.
    -Decent enough parking

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this park!! I did my man's cday bbq here and we had a blast!! I really really really love that they have all different types of courts for different sports. Like they have tennis courts, bball courts, handball courts, soccer field, baseball diamond, and they have 3 lil playgrounds for the kids. We can't forget them kids now!! But it's soOo beautiful, they have a biggo pond in the middle and theres benches you can sit on so u can sit by the pond (which has special effects, it shoots out water is a cute circle flower display thingy), puff on a fat one and just chill. one time i was so pissed at the master, i took off walkin and came here... LOL he followed me but couldn't find me, i was smoking a bleezy in the lil clubhouse thing in the playground LMAO he was hhhhhhella lookin for me and i was tryna play it low key like all peekin thru the window. SO for all you who live close by and just wanna get away and chill, it was a good hiding spot LOL he never found me!!

    this is a nice park...  and it has the following: basketball, playground, soccer field, baseball field, handball courts, a lake, and what i come for, the very nice 12 lighted tennis courts..

    only thing is about the tennis courts .. most of these are taken up by the lessons/activities..
    for example: every day of the week, even weekends.. they offer kids tennis lessons that usually takes up 5 of the courts. now your thinking this isn't to bad, but 3 of the other courts are taken by the IRVINE tennis league, WTT. so that leaves 4 more courts, which is reasonable, but another problem arises.. there isn't really a time limit of play that the other courts in Irvine has. most of the people that come here have been regular for a long time, so they usually share a court with 4+ people and they just rotate in... so you end up sitting here and waiting for an open tennis court.. which opens up about 10 pm.. which was pretty good when the light timers used to turn off past 11:50 pm.. but it appears that the light turns off at 10pm now. so you can wait for 3 hours... and go home without touching a court.

    being able to play tennis to midnight was great... what happened to the timers from 3 years ago....
