first of all what the f happened to Paul Revere's house?!!! i recently paid a visit to the island in which Paul Revere's house used to be. i haven't been back here since high school days... they completely remodeled the island and now Paul Revere's house is no longer here! i was bragging to my friend that his house is here...

secondly, we attempted few times but the island was closed due to the weather... what, you can't visit if it's friggin gloomy in socal?!

tres- they put Clubs for cars on the basketball courts at nigth... what about those people who are drunk/high and wanna shoot some hoops at four o'clock in the morning?! c'mon!!!!!

they have summer night concerts here. which is cool i guess... but not if you live like 20 yards away. god damn people take up parking in front of your house! it's pretty annoying. but then i get to listen to some jams from my room. last week must've been the Cure cover band. i do recall hearing like 3 cure songs back to back to back before i left the house.

good for kids. for field trips. play ground. basketball courts. baseball field. soccer firled. small pond around the island. creeeepy ass looking ducks. yeah, this place is alright.

I like to go to heritage park with my friends just to hang out and play some games if we have nothing else to do. The park is very nice, the playground is pretty big and beautiful. However there are a lot of ducks that leave a lot of their waste like seriously some parts of the sidewalks have a lot of waste. But other than that the park is beautiful.

This place is da bomb!  I have many fond memories playing on the island as a kid and Cerritos has updated it for the next generation.  Maybe someday I'll bring my kids here and let them get chased around by the crazy ducks, too!  j/k they're pretty scarry =)

I took my daughter here because of the preceeding yelps and was very satisfied.  What a great park!  Somebody rich who loved kids (besides M. Jackson) took it upon themselves to create something really fun for kids to take off and explore.   Also, Ducks galore, but because of the kids I doubt they get much sleep.   Great time.   Good place to take the little ones!

This, by far, is the best park I've ever been to. We were here for a BBQ birthday, and got to wander around to the houses and slide down slides. They were houses that I would have designed as a dream house when I was 10. Also, there were TONS of wild turtles, which I've never seen before. Lots of super cute ducks, too!

This park is one of the two "big" parks in Cerritos, and though Heritage Park has a lot of "cute" decors around the park, such as the island, and the little pond with ducks and turtles, it's not very big, and the spaces are very limited. It's a good place to walk around and chill, but not to have a barbeque or something, in my opinion. Maybe I'm taking this place for granted, but you should definitely check it out if you're ever around the area.

I can't believe with Heritage Park in Cerritos, Guppies and the Auto Square are still more famous.  This tiny park is such a cool place to be.  I wish I had something like it when I was a young child.

So as others have mentioned, the playground is actually on an island that you  have to cross a bridge to get to.  That is awesome!  a playground on a freakin' island!  The playground takes on a very unique theme: colonial time buildings.  Just look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.  I felt like I was transported back to the East Coast during the times of Paul Revere.  Oh wait, that's exactly what the builders meant to replicate!  Anyways, the slides and bars are all housed inside these buildings so if you ever come here on a rainy day, you can still have a blast!  The playground is meant for 5-12 year olds, but why should they have all the fun?  I was shameless enough to play on the sides and climb the  bars and you know what?  I felt great!

Definitely take your kids here or even take a date here for an innocent, good time.  It's cheap and you can use your imagination to make things interesting.  If there weren't a bunch of loud, screaming kids running around, I'd dare say the park is a perfect "romantic date spot".

I am so jealous  friend lives only a few blocks away!

Oh yah, today when we were at the park we saw a couple taking wedding pictures here.  I heard it is a popular thing to do at Heritage Park.

One word...

AWESOME!

This park sits across the street from my old high school.  It's not the largest park around - it's actually on the small side.  There isn't a sports complex like Cerritos Regional Park.  It doesn't have a fitness trail or equipment to help you get in shape.

But how many parks have an ISLAND in the middle of it?  Complete with a miniature old colonial town and cutter ship with cannons?!?!?!?!

I love this park and have been playing in it since I was a child.

It also made a great film location for my senior year French class project...

If you have a child with a wild imagination, send him across the bridge to the island and let him / her run wild.

They won't be able to get too far.... IT'S A DAMN ISLAND!  There's only one way on, one way off.

DUCKS! DUCKS! DUCKS! = DUCK POOP! DUCK POOP! DUCK POOP!

Don't get me wrong, this park is great and my daughter has loved it since she first realized animals are awesome to scream at and I expect she'll love it all the way through the searching for a place to hotbox the flying-car teen years, but Jesus, wrap your shoes in plastic before you come, lest your feet get encrusted in duck doo. Actually, it's best to approach the playground in the middle of the island from the right so as to best avoid the poo-field on the left where the ducks seem to congregate.

Ducks is cute and everything, quack-quack and all that, but really, is Ted Nugent in town?

I loved this park growing up. It used to be a lot cooler since you were way more likely to fall from something and hurt yourself, but I guess, times change. Still, the park is awesome. Swings, ducks, a playgorund, basketball courts and of course, what we locals call "the island."

You cross a covered bridge from the front of the park and you're on the island. The island is like one giant playground. I came here with some friends last night and we played tag all day. Word to the wise, though, Cerritos has pretty strict curfew laws, so if you're under 18, don't be here after 10pm. And, the parks close at 10pm, anyway and the cops will come and kick you out. Otherwise, this place rocks.

Oh, yeah, when it gets dark, the lantern on statue of Paul Revere lights up and is horribly creepy. So, there is that, but I won't take one star away just because I'm a big scaredy cat.

Another great park in Cerritos.  This is great for kids or field trips.  During the day you can go over to the Island, which has all kinds of cool Heritage style buildings and paths to check out.  The ducks love the island.  This is a really clean park with baseball fields and a good amount of picnic space with attached grills.  It is also really nice to walk around.  This is right across the street from Cerritos High, so it's pretty convenient if you live in the area, and also close to Cerritos Towne Center.  I would recommend this for a party, group get together, or if you just want a really pretty clean park to chill out in and/or walk around.  Not huge like Cerritos Regional, but lovely just the same.

The renovation of this park only made this an even greater park.

When I was a young'un, I frequented this park before the renovation. I remember, before all the precautions we take to make our kids wimps now, I'd come home with some form of injury. I remember getting rope burns because of a fairly dangerous rope climb in the playground, bruises because of hard falls, cuts because of metal playground equipment, etc. There were also no woodchips or rubberized flooring near the swings or playground either.

There may have even been less fencing protecting the kids from falling into the moat surrounding the island. Ah, the good old days when rough playgrounds like the Heritage Park of old made kids like me tougher.

That's not to say that the renovations aren't welcomed. The colonial/Revolutionary theme was, and is, great. There's a large bronze statue of Paul Revere near the wooden bridge that takes to the island. They added more color to the colonial buildings. You don't find other parks like this anywhere! Just look at some of the pictures. The buildings actually incorporate playground elements like slides.

There's also a stage area where performances can be put on display and patrons can watch from across the moat.

I used to feed the ducks and geese that live in this park also when I was a kid. They were pretty aggressive and used to fight for the stale bread that I threw into the water.

Parks like this serve a patriotic purpose and are aesthetically pleasing. This is a top-notch park for a community that really wants the best for its residents.

This is one of the coolest park I had ever been to.

This is the kind of park that you would love to bring your kids to. The most fascinating about this park was that the playground is in a remote island surrounded by a moat pond. There is a Sleepy Hollow type bridge you will need to cross in order to get to the island.

Once you get into the island, there are several types of colonial club houses for kids to explorer. The big deal was the huge slide that is on the top of hill. My favorite experience was watching some jolly old guy get up on that thing and slit his pants wide open as he was coming down that slide. That was too hilarious!

The pond that surrounded the island to make it look like a moat was fascinating for me because ducks were be swimming along the pond while kids would aim a fake water cannon that springs out water at the ducks. Of course, the water cannon doesn't shoot that far as it was only a prop for a water fountain on the side of the island.

This playground is the big attraction to the park as they will only open during day time and locked up the gate at night. The park has a big open soccer field for weekend games and Fourth of July activities. It was also the site of a Presidential campaign for George HW Bush in the 1988 Presidential election where he made the pit stop at this very Republican city on a aptly named park called Heritage Park.

The only big bummer is that the park is not as big and not really a recreational park as it only had a few basketball courts and soccer field, with a community center on the side. The parking is sparse too as it can be hogged by High School kids who parked their cars there instead at School parking lot to avoid paying for parking permits.

Overall it is a very good park to take the family for some preschool fun and maybe learn a little Revolutionary history.

Just make sure to leave that big slide for the kids.

My favorite place in Cerritos. I come here to get away from it all and re-discover the kid in me.  Stroll across the bridge and enter a magical land of fantasy and adventure.  Love coming here with a book, sitting on the grass and just enjoying a perfect afternoon.

I went to school across the street from here, and I have to admit, it was a little frustrating for a the 1-2 years it took to renovate the stupid island, but after it was done, I have no complaints. They have created this new experience for the kids of Cerritos, so that the little girl/boy in you can venture around and experience what it would be like to be Tom Sawyer.

I have unfortunately gotten too old and too big to play in the little buildings (although I still do try to do so every so often), but the park itself is very scenic and beautiful. The Bridge that leads you onto the island unfortunately, does close around 5, so if you want the full experience, it is always best to go around noon.

Because of it's location right next to the sherriff stations, however, you will get caught for being there after hours. And they will try to spook you away with a story about scary people who come with a gun and steal your stuff. But that's not the parks fault.

This is a nice park. It has an island with a moat. The island is a giant playground for children. If you have kids, come check it out. There are picnic tables and a rec center available for rent for special events. Small basketball courts.

Too many ducks around so I don't like to bring my dogs here. But fun to come enjoy the park with your human companions.

Cute and fun park, although the graveyard always freaked me out as a kid.  The funny names engraved on the tombstones are supposed to add levity, but they still give me the heebie jeebies.

I used to love the place so much when I was a kid. I remember running around the island and pretending to be a unicorn or a power ranger (or both at the same time!). This place is great to take your kids, younger brothers/sisters, anyone else that is 11 years old or younger or your grown friends who still have that Toys R Us spirit. I can confidently say that I'm grateful my parents took me to this park because it really lets your imagination soar free. I can't give this place 5-stars because my friend got a ticket for sitting in the back of the park with me. We were just talking around 2AM in the morning, nothing harmless, and a cop pulls over asking us if we see the "signs that say curfew is at 10PM". We looked around and said "no" because my friend was getting written up anyway. There really was no sign in the back lot unless they put one up recently (I swear. We drove by to find it several times). He was really nice for not giving me a ticket and told us we should fight it anyway.

- Ducks, turtles, moat, island w/a playground.
- Clubhouse (you can host parties here for your kid's birthdays)
- Outdoor BBQ/Picnic area
- Large field. Cerritos will sometimes host concerts in the field behind the island. Walk your dog, take a jog, breathe in the fresh air.
- Additional playground on the side of the island where you can supervise your little ones.
- Parking lot (gets crowded during the weekends, esp. during the days) If you know your way around the area you can park in the residential areas and walk through.

This is an outstanding park. I wish I had something like this to run around in. When I was growing up I'd be lucky to have an empty dirt lot or a two story construction site. That was my playground. This place allows kids to imagine and just have a blast. I used to take my daughter there when she was little and my niece, too. It's a great park to just take a long nap. I used to park my car under a large tree, roll my windows down, and just snore away. You must see this place.

Beautiful park with an island housed full of little buildings and such that you can explore. A duck pond surrounds the island and a playground, many bbq areas(most of them are on a  first come first serve), and basketball courts lay just outside of that.  They close the island off at sunset and this park is located right across Cerritos High School. This park also has a free afterschool homework helper program where kids can stay after school til about 5 or 6pm. Wow free babysitting! Parking lot gets a little crazy at 3pm when parents are waiting for their kids to get out of the high school.

From my youth, I remember it being a grand castle, town, and pirate ship all on an island.  I went again a few months ago and it has changed a lot, probably for more safety, but it is still just as cool.  Plus there are all types of birds walking around hanging out in the pond/mote.  A cool place for all ages

Heritage Park is just down right cool. I came there for the first time when I was a kid. The YMCA summer program brought us there for the day. It certainly made an impression on me because I remembered it for years and years and always wondered where it was at. I finally found it again when my daughter was about a year old. I would bring her there often when she was little. We moved out of the area for several years then came back 3 years ago. Now my daughter is a teenager but she still enjoys going there. My older son is four and he LOVES it there. He is fascinated by all the buildings, the boat, the slides, the ducks, etc. He also likes the playground that is not on the island...However, that one to me needs to be rehabbed.
On a weird note. I have seen some very strange looking ducks there over the years. I don't know if they were injured or inbred or what but there were some really jacked up looking ones...that is for sure. lol.

Not to brag or anything but my hometown of Cerritos really has the best of everything.  It's not enough for them that they have the first titanium building (our very awesome library), are home to the biggest auto square, and have managed to rid the town of purple houses (a big no-no) and drive-thru fast food joints (goes against the Cerritos philosophy that families should eat home cooked meals together for dinner).

Nope, this isnt enough for good ole Cerritos.  We have also built the best park a kid could ever play at, right across from Cerritos High School (which may be one of the few institutions Cerritos has to be ashamed of-----but I'll go into that another day).  The main playground takes place on an "island" that you can get to only by crossing a little red bridge.  (By the way I have seen many tears shed on that bridge, all by kids who were screaming that they didn't want to go home yet and their parents were pulling them by their legs, arms, any limb, or their hair if necessary)  The entire island is surrounded by a moat which is filled with dirty water and ducks.  Very cool.  As Mike stated there are a bunch of colonial club houses that kids can play in.  Most of them are multi-storied which makes it that much cooler.  The highlight for me used to be the "church" which was maybe 4 stories and you had to climb a series of ladders to get to the top.  Another cool thing was the "boat" which was docked in the moat and had fake cannons and such.

This was always my favorite park to visit when I was younger. I grew up in Buena Park but still had picnics, parties, and even a field trip or two here. I don't know of many other parks that had it's own buildings and structures, pirate ships and churches that were part of the playground.. this was amazing as a kid. It's been a couple years since I've lived in CA.. and I've yet to find a park that I like more.

The best playground I've seen. I love their treasure island theme, even big kids at hearts aka adults will enjoy the set up, that's of course if you can still fit in the slides and small stairs. haha I still can. There's even a section for a stage. I love the part where you can "launch" a faux cannonball into the water.
