Charming and creeps me out all in the same fell swoop.
Amazing venue for special occasions, and receptions. Why? Well, they have this outdoor area where you can set up several tables, chairs and a speaking lectern with a microphone.. and one end has the catering table, and the table at the far end is where the wine, water, lemonade and desserts. It's outdoors, and it's by an orchard, and you can see the back wall of the house, and you walk through this wooden archway, walk around by a gazebo, and the whole area looks like it would be beautiful with some soft lights.
So that is why it is charming.
Why is it creepy?
The house. Play the piano in one room, and you can almost sense the ceilings rise as if you were in the haunted mansion. There's a wreath made out of human hair in the same room with moths that remind me of Silence of the Lambs. The floors creak, and there is a spiral staircase in the center of the house that leads up to a bedroom and a classroom with wooden desks and a dunce cap in the corner. Before you get to the attic, you'll stop by the room with Victorian costumes, and you feel the stagnant air, which is both warm, and eerie, surround you.Listed in: OC/LA- Tourist Destinations or…

Review from Kevin P.
A lovely place for a wedding, this Southern Style home with accompanying orange orchard, creates that home comfort feel while still being somewhat in the city.
A good friend of mine got married here in April and it was really nice... but let me tell you why I gave this a 3 instead of a 4 or a 5 like the others....
Location wise it's in the middle of an industrial warehouse commune where if you make a wrong turn you might end up in an episode of Burn Notice, trying to drive away from gangster.... well minus the gangsters, but it does look like a great area to set up an ambush.
And after you finally find the venue you park next door at the elementary school (just a hop a away not far at all) but I will say waking over speed bumbs and over gravel at night with no lights on makes for a bumpy trip to the car (especially after you've had a few).
Where the wedding takes place is beautiful from first looks, but depending on what time your weddings at, your whole family and friends might be blind from staring at the sun all day.
The reception area isn't right for a party that's larger than 75 people, because where we were sitting was too far to see the bride and groom, plus we were in the sun away from the festivities... and there were some games going on there too! But alas the back 4 tables all were lost because we couldn't hear anything, all we saw was the wedding party running around frantically... we later found out it was musical treasure chairs... music plays, then it stops, you have to find a certain item, then make it back to a chair before everyone else. Looked like fun... I amused myself with walking through their rose garden, layered with different varieties of roses. It makes for a great photo area :D
Over all a nice place, but I think not meant for a people who want a 100 - 200 person wedding, it just can't hold it. But if you want that backyard feel of Florida, check it out.
Enjoy.
p.s. not a good place if you have allergies. -

Yeah definitely a secret spot in OC the museum hosts field trips for elementry schools but they recently did a lot of renovations and the grounds are beautiful for private parties and festivals. I went there with my girl friend and we felt like we were transported in time. awesome orange groves, and rose garden the houses and gazebo lawn is cool, and they added a gold mining stream and water tower in the back where you can pan for gold. they have a new website

What. A. Great. Venue. This musuem was AWESOME. It was huge and had everything one site, with lots of great photo opportunities. This place is worth hiring based on the atmosphere and the grounds alone, but here are some other positives and negatives. POSITIVES: $1500 of it is a tax deductible membership to the musuem so the rental fee is only $1500. The venue is pretty flexible regarding when you want to do your rehearsal, when you want to arrive and the vendors you use (aside from catering). There is no noise ordinance so you can be as loud as you want. Sundays are cheaper than NEGATIVES: you can only use Country Garden Catering (or something like that). The venue coordinator, Candace, doesn't help much when it comes to setting up or cleaning (the only thing she did for me was carry out some trash left in the house we got ready in and held my dress after my bridesmaids walked down the aisle). The only time I heard from Candace was when I owed money, I had to organize and plan everything else.
This place is amazingly gorgeous and so fun to get ready at and have our ceremony and reception because the grounds were so big. If you are an organized bride who will take care of almost everything I would highly recommend this venue. -

What a surprise! Who could expect a collection of Victorian houses, water tower, rose gardens, gazebos, trellised corridors, small orchards, and wet land marshes between a light undustrial area and a regional park! I've actually known this surprising splash of history for sometime, but whenever I show other people the area, I am still almost shocked to rediscover it! I thought I should share it! Now the museum seems to be on the move again with landscape improvements and new plans. I heard they're changing their name to the Heritage Museum of Orange County.
The grounds are impressive, the buidings proud, and the site perfect for a relaxing, educational visit to OC's historic past, a light hike along a natural trail with two wet land marshes, or a photogenic, romantic wedding, for those so inclined! There's even a working blacksmith on site!
The combination of historic houses and open, natural land, gives one a true sense of early 19th century life, and the interior of the Kellogg House is a unique experience with plenty of interest. The owner had a deep fascination for ships, and it shows! A central mast rises through the interior stairwell into a cupola, and adds charm without interfering with architectural integrity!
Worth a visit! A great site for weddings! (You'll know what I mean!) -

This review is for a wedding venue.
Great setting which looks amazing at night. You can use the Victorian for photos and getting dressed which is very convenient. Dance floor space is ample underneath the patio.
My only concern, for a wedding, would be whether or not they require you to go with Jays catering. They didnt when we had our wedding but they were considering it. Jays is horrible and I would not recommend them to anybody.
