We haven't been here for any other meal aside from breakfast. So I can only comment on what we did have. Normally we go to Heritage Sundays after church and order the Marathon. If you can finish this, which my bf does, you're pretty sick. LOL!
The Marathon comes with 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of french toast, 3 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, a piece of ham, a piece of sausage, and either home fried potatoes or hashed browns. It's only $10! I share with my 2-year-old and we can never ever finish. Their chocolate milk is great! They're like $2 for a large cup. The homemade bread is good. Coffee is made throughout the morning. The hot teas aren't so good. But their chocolate shakes however are bomb!

I started working at Heritage...because the food was so great! Even though my waitressing career came to a screeching halt, it didn't prevent me from going back. Yes, portions are gigantic which is great if you're feeding a large family because you can totally share with one another ( especially breakfast). They still have homemade bread, but I'm a little bummed that they changed their cinnamon roll recipe from homemade to store bought-ish( hence the 3 starts in stead of 4), other than that, I can't complain. Good food for your money.
Cheers!
PS) I don't know if the Veggie Delight is still on the menu, but even if it isn't, ask for it, it's soooo good! DId you know that they hand whip their butter and make the whipping cream from scratch. Yummy!!!

I wonder how people finish these plates.
Portions? Huge
Food? better than Denny's!
Price? average price of your fast food restaurant (but you get more!)
and for what? dine in, restaurant quality food.
I came here with a friend last night. We couldn't decide for the life of us where we wanted to eat and since we just came from the bike dealership down the street, she suggested this place.
We shared a HALF basket of Fried Zucchini Parmesan and the Bacon Western Cheeseburger. Freaking AMAZINGGG. (that, or i was just really hungry).
Although we split our food, we ended up not even touching half of it. yea...that's what i'm sayin'.
No wonder Americans are so obese. But hey, at least you get a lot for your money!

Wow, this place FILLS you up. Huge plates, with ginormous portions.
This is one of my first favorites since moving down to socal. The food is pretty good. Some of my favorites things/items: fried zucchini, biscuits and gravy. The food overall is good, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As everyone else has said: HUGE amounts of food!
I got the huevos rancheros and ate for 2 days!
There homemade wheat toast is really good too.
This place is like a triple threat.....
1. Food = Y.U.M.
2. Atmosphere = Cool
3. Service = Friendly
Plus, to top it off: they have a diner counter. How can you go wrong?
Having just moved from Texas last year, I was craving some greasy home style food. Another yelper referred to this restaraunt as "You know that food you eat at while you're on a roadtrip from that place to that other place?".... well I used to live in that town in-between towns, and it's called Lubbock, Texas. And Lubbock has some greasy down home diners that have been unparralled... until now.
There was a line when we arrived on Sunday, but the hostess offered us counter seats. We received service immediately, and the counter seats really add to the whole experience and atmosphere. You're kind of facing everything behind the scenes and watching all the action, and it's kind of fun. Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.
The main difference between this place and a greasy diner back home would be the ginormo portions at this restaraunt. In a REAL down home diner you would get half the food and it would be half the price. Like a realistic sized breakfast for $4.25. That being said, you have to understand that the portions here are a bit over the top. I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I got the bacon and eggs, which come with a bread and two sides. I HAD to try the cakes, so I got hash browns and pancakes. Literally, my husband and I could have split the amount of food that either one of us received, and we both would have been full. And we like to eat. His biscuits and gravy side came with three whole biscuits. Who can really eat that much? However, the food was perfect, and the best American style breakfast I've had in awhile.
One more note - the bread is AMAZING. The home made whole wheat is the best I've ever had in a restaurant, and almost as good as the stuff my sister makes.
This is the perfect weekend spot. It will definitely be on our list of favorites, for sure.

Everything is great and you can't ever seem to finish it. My favorite thing to get is the Tuna Melt on their home made white bread. It's fantastic. I love their beef and barley soup as well. this is one of my favorite places in the area. It's much better than Shorehouse Cafe, but isn't open that late. Service is ok.
A friend took us here before dropping us off at the airport. From the outside it looked like just a regular diner. I was expecting regular breakfast food. It was very crowded as well. The hostess said it would take 20 min to get a table and the person that took us there said it would be worth it. So we waited. Then 3 seats opened up at the counter and our friend asked us if we wanted to sit at the counter and we agreed. We were immediately tended to. It was awesome. Then people were walking by with the food and I was floored on the smell but more importantly the size of the portions. It was huge! I was very excited. So we ordered and our friend told us to get the home made wheat bread. Great choice!
Everything was fantastic. We had a great meal and were so full that we did not have to eat until dinner. It would have gotten five stars, but there is only one men's bathroom. The guy was taking a while and since it was taking so long I did not want to be the next guy in there. Great people and great food! When in that area would love to go back there!
My first time was a mostly positive experience....
Tonight I had the Tuesday special: Fried Chicken. I thought the waitress was extremely friendly and took very good care of us. My friend has some foreign object in his mashed potatoes that kinda grossed me out. They were happy to give him new potatoes.
Give it a try!

Great Diner Food.
Eat their homemade bread, it's fantastic. Gets a little busy in the mornings and then lets up. Dinner is good too and not crowded at all. It is much better these days as a previous yelper mentioned in another review about how the Right Wing once owned it. I'm much happier that it is now non-denominational. I ate at this place when it was The Acropolis years ago and this new one is better. I like it.
ok, so i've only eaten here about 3 times in years' span, and wow, the food is so delicious. i wasn't raised with melt in your mouth home cooking, so when i tried this place out, i can only imagine that this is what home cooking should taste like! i love their homestyle toast, soooooooooooooooooooo delicious; like melt in your mouth delicious. the staff feel like my neighbors. ha ha.
The food was so good and they give you so much! I had the french toast and almost passed out when I saw how much they gave me. The place was packed with people. Its sort of a dumpy looking place but if you are looking for a huge breakfast, this is the place to go.

Praise da Lawd!
The Heritage is generous and doth giveth huge portions to the people. These born-agains doth not skippeth out on providing for those in need of Him. We breaketh the fresh, home-made, thick-sliced bread in twain cuz it's just too much. We shareth our repast with those around us because He is generous. The Lord doth move in mysterious ways but He knoweth how to sate an appetite. The masses doth wait for a spot to open and partaketh of His goodness. Ye shall fear no evil with a belly full of goodness and joy. You cometh in hunger, you departeth fat.
And blessed be the fire-fighters, cops and military, for He doth a discount.
Amen!

When this place reopened a few years back (after sitting empty for awhile) it was pretty good ... and pretty heavily religious. Nothing personal, but I don't really care for Jesus thrown at me over my biscuits and gravy. So, I went once, and then said, "Oh, HERITAGE, God, right, I get it, food for Christians." In other words, not for me so much.
But then recently (2 years? Year and a half?) I heard the Jesus folks had sold and I had to go back as the Heritage is really good now.
I heard right.
The Heritage specializes in standard cafe fare, served fresh, quick and big. Really big. Like omelettes the size of your head big.
Some of the original googie touches can still be found in the decor, which I like. The service is friendly enough and usually very quick. It's popular, especially on Sundays, but the wait is generally pretty short.
A nice addition to the neighborhood.

I think I've made my point clear.

My husband and I have been eating breakfast/lunch at this restaurant on & off for over 2 years. The ownership has recently changed in Jan 08, but so far nothing else has changed including the menu, quality of food, and most of the staff. The restaurant is VERY generous with their food portions. They are HUGE! Two persons can easily share a meal. So far we haven't found anything that disappointed us. Their homemade bread, especially the raisin bread, is absolutely delicious. To name a few breakfast plates: corned beef harsh, 3 eggs with ham steak, french toast combo.... You'll get 1 or 2 side orders on some breakfast selections. Choices include hot cereal, harsh browns, grits, cottage cheese, tomato, fruit, pancakes, biscuits & gravy.....The sandwiches are gigantic. We like the California chicken sandwich and the chicken tortilla soup. This is the place you come to for great food and lots of it....
A great place for Sunday brunch. Excellent breakfast and sandwich options. Hugenormous fried zucchini, perfectly seasoned chili (topped with cheddar and onions, oh my.)
Everything is homemade!
And as everyone else has mentioned the portions are of global proportions.
American gluttony at its finest.
My friends love to come here, mostly my guy friends...one mention of "The Heritage" as they refer to it makes them salivate. Its just regular old diner food...but the portions are ENORMOUS.
Pancakes the size of hubcaps, sandwiches the size of 1975 Datsuns, chunks of cornbread with melted butter the size of a small child.
I'm only slightly exaggerating.
When I dine here I have to bring home about 3/4 of my meal and sometimes still can't finish it all. It really is a good deal beause the prices are very reasonable. Parking can be kind of tight on Sundays when its crowded, but there's plenty of street parking.
There is a big church-going crowd on Sundays, old folks, kids, families all in their Sunday church clothes. The restaurant is also owned by a bible-believing family. Take a visit to the ladies room and you'll discover a little inspirational ladies room complete with paper, a pencil and a little box to write down prayer requests.
I don't know who reads them and if someone prays for you, but I figure it couldn't hurt. Drop in a prayer for world peace while you're there.

Go hear for breakfast (but only if you are REALLY hungry).
The Heritage is a great family style, old-fashioned American diner whose portions are only rivaled by...by...well nothing. The meals are HUGE! I personally have only been there for breakfast so can't speak for lunch and dinner, but from what I hear they are just as large.
In my opinion, their breakfast menu is wonderfully set up. The most popular part of the menu with my crowd is the "Make Your Own Breakfast" section. How it works? OK. You start with choosing a base such as 3 eggs and bacon, or 2 eggs and sausage - whatever you like. You then choose 1 or 2 sides, which include pancakes, biscuits and gravy, french toast, oatmeal, potatoes, etc, etc, etc. All the breakfasts come with toast (which is standard), but I would recommend trying their homemade wheat toast - super tasty. Chances are you won't be able to finish your meal here, so just take it home with ya!
The service is great. Everyone is super kind and always on their toes, so the crowds don't really pose a problem.

The portions here are huge! Kinda scary, actually. Not the best customer service (my 21 year old friend didn't get his scoop of ice cream that comes with the kids meal because he wasn't a kid) but definitely a bang for your buck type of place.

A truck stop type diner.
It is very "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." The portions are large, the service is great.
The best part of this diner and what sets it apart from the others, is that they make their own bread. This makes for huge sandwichs. If your least favorite part of a sandwich is bread than this is no the place to dine.
A very small town atmosphere in a big city.

This is a very popular diner, especially on Sundays after Church.
I had the occasion to eat there only a couple times, even though I lived accross the street. From what I experienced the food is good, typical Amercan dining food and the service is good. For a more old-fashioned experience there is probably nothing better in the area. The windows are always decorated properly according to the season (i.e. Easter, Christmas, etc). The chances are you already know if this is the place for you. It is an old-fashioned American hideout in the middle of an "emerging community."

Here's the deal with Heritage. You know that food you eat at while you're on a roadtrip from that place to that other place? Well, they serve that food here. Large portions it. Biscuits & gravy. Waffles. Chicken this and that. Whatever. Simple food that tastes like it's been teleported in from a little diner out on the edge of the horizon somewhere. Nothing is perfect, but everything is really good. Just the way it should be.

Let me just start off by saying the this place serves some of the biggest portions of any place I've ever eaten. Every thing's big here: the burritos, the pancakes, the burgers are served on large slices of bread, the fried zucchini basket is huge, and so are many of its patrons. They aren't shy here either. The Christian owner sets a bible out for the taking in the bathroom, and if you're eating at the right time she'll come to your table to offer you some free treats. If you're coming for dinner make sure to ask for some free bread (otherwise they won't offer it to you at all). The dinner/ lunch menu is pretty diverse. If you're there on a Sunday or Thursday, I highly recommend the chicken noodle soup, it's really good! Anyways, this place's strong suit is its breakfast menu. If your heart can handle it I recommend the Cinnamon roll french toast. And the biscuits and gravy are the best. Period. One thing you might find strange about Heritage however, are the servers. I don't know what they're deal is but they always seem a little bit off. I could have sworn that I had a drag queen server one night (not that I have anything against drag queens). Really though they just add to the character of this place. With such reasonable prices this place is a must try.

Hands down the best family/diner restaurant in the greater Long Beach/Lakewood/Cerritos Area. The servings are ridiculously large, the prices are extremely affordable, and the staff just has that "welcome to our house" personality. When I first went here I instantly fell in love with the place. Some entrees I absolutely love is the Waffles with ice cream, biscuits and gravy, fried zucchini, and their skillet breakfasts (with spinach and tomatoes please!).
This place is kinda covered by the 7/11 when you are heading away from the airport on Carson, but be sure to turn into it right after yo upass the 7/11. Also it is across the street from the Denny's on Carson. Everytime I sit at a window, and I see a person walk into Denny's across the street, I think of what a poor fool he is for not trying out this amazingly awesome restaurant that is Heritage Family Pantry.
