The Herfy's in Georgetown is the only one I'll patronize. ID & Fremont locations are really bad. Not all Herfy's are created equal.
Always quality perfectly charred burgers, good fries, shakes, and onion rings.
It's clean and they always have a newspaper or two to read.
Oh man, if you like your milkshakes to be runny and artificial... this is the place for you! Not only do they completely skip the slight solidification needed in the makings of a quality shake, but they do so with this sly little smile that says, "Hey buddy. I accidentally milked the 'other' udder on a bull to make this delicacy. So enjoy!" And I say that because the vanilla shake that I received just the udder day (Get it? I replaced other with udder to sound funny!) tasted a bit... off.
The crinkle fries are your basic freezer special and the meat on the hamburger looks like my Nana's varicose veins. I'm giving this location two stars because I loved my Nana and anytime that I'm reminded of her, I must give that place a +1.
** Pours out some milkshake. No... not for my homies, but just because it tastes funny. **
Herfy's has fantastic greasy burgers, fresh toppings, crispy crinkle fries, and delicious thick shakes. The only downside is the somewhat unfortunate name which reminds me of herfing, but I'm more than willing to let that slide for the hot and tasty burgers. I only discovered Herfy's a short while ago, but I'm already a well addicted fan getting a burger here at least once a week.
I like Herfy's.
I picked it because I knew it would be exactly what it is-- a no-frills burger joint.
The burger was good, the fries were yummy, and the milkshake was AWESOME.
The atmosphere was so no-frills it was almost depressing!
thanks, Herfy. I'll definitely go back for more.
Agree with the past Yelper - Georgetown Herfy's is the only one that's worth the time. I've gone to the Fremont, International District, and Bellevue locations and none of them even come close to the GT one.
Good burgers, good fish and chips, and great shakes.
You want a tasty cheeseburger, shake, and fries? Remember the name Herfy's and get acquainted with it real soon.
Herfy's has a great menu that serves everything from burgers, to seafood, to teriyaki. The burgers are huge but you can get a smaller size like the ranch burger. All the years I've been going to this place I've only had a milkshake once and it brings the boys to the yard tenfold. Very tasty. There are a TON of flavors to chose from. Herfy's serves my most favorite fries on the planet: crinkle fries. And they are always good. No matter when I get them they come fresh, hot, and in abundance. There was a few months there when they were serving breakfast but that came to an end.
They have a great "fry" sauce that I think is a mix of sauces with thousand island thrown in. Its a funky light orange color but its so good with the fabulous fries.
Herfy's is a bit small so depending on when you go it can get packed. Definitely avoid it during lunch hour unless you are smart and call in your order.
When I want a good, quick and heart-stoppingly good burger/fries/tartar sauce, I go to Herfy's. Their service is quick, portions plenty and food mighty tasty. I have yet to try their teriyaki and seafood dishes; so far only a burger (or two) and fries for me, but if those are any indicator of how tasty the rest of their menu is than I'm sure everything is excellent. No need to worry about how many fries you get, generally a huge bag of fries with a burger on top is what you end up with. Although if you're not a fan of the krinkle-cut french fry than maybe this won't be your thing.
Don't go in there expecting some gourmet burger, while they are great, I generally just go there as an alternative to Burger King (ew), McDonalds (ew x2) and Jack in the Box (*huarf!*). For a "real" burger I stave my appetite until I get back home and am able to hit up the Elliott Bay Brewery.
Also make sure you know where you're going on the way there, as Herfy's is set back a bit in a little "strip mall" and can be kinda hard to spot from the street.
The burger at this place tastes like it was char grilled. I like the thinner but wider patty configuration they have (similar to a Whopper). They have a variety of shakes, but lack crispy fries.
Good burgers, shakes and fries.
Lunch
Good burgers, decent fries, and great shakes.
This is a bit retro in name only. My family and I use to frequent this original local Seattle chain back in the 70's, does anyone remember their Wacky Pack? The original kid meal, back in the day....
These are popping up all over the greater Seattle area, I've visited the one in Lynnwood, WA about 3 times they have a ton of seating. The Georgetown location has a fair amount of seating and I have visited about 3-4 times. The GT one tends to be the better of the two locations I have been to. Mainly because they take care of their frying oil and do not mix frying the seafood in the same oil as the fries and onion rings. This is a big NO-NO!! Frying seafood in oil fryers flavors the oil and if you put french fries into that same oil, you get fishy flavored fries!! YUCK!!! Anyway, the Georgetown group either watches what oil fryer they are using for seafood or they change out their oil more frequently. Their fries are served up hot and fresh. I use their "secret" sauce to dip my fries, the sauce looks and tastes much like mayo and catchup.... YUMMY!
The menu is huge, well varied I should say, from Teriyaki to burgers, and fried seafood. Stick with the burgers, i.e. chicken or beef, the Teriyaki is sickeningly sweet and the sauce is dumped on the same grilled chicken they use in the chicken burger, hence the Teriyaki is just sauce tossed over grilled chicken, IMO, not the proper way to do Teriyaki. I will say this the portions are nice sized for this dish.
Order a burger combo meal, you get fries and a drink, better yet upgrade and order a milk shake!! The shakes are made with softserve ice cream and are to die for!! Plenty of milk shake choices, but I'll stick with the strawberry or chocolate, yummy!!!
One of my favorite places. The staff are all busy, but friendly and the milkshakes are the stuff of dreams. The burgers can be made to your liking and the fish and chips and clam strips are delicious!
Go in the evenings when the parking lot is emptied out. It is the perfect place to go for a tasty indulgence.
The best thing about this place is the shakes. If you are around 1st and Michigan, just head east a few blocks.
I/ve had the burgers (Great), the fish and chips (Great), and a number of the shakes(Wonderful).
The walls are lined with a number of interesting posters for different (Mostly theater) performances. The place is pretty clean (For a mom and pop shop) and the service has always been fast and friendly.
where's the beef? the patties on the burgers look like they've been flattened with a hammer. WAY overpriced! Fries very good, shakes very good, cooked fresh
It's been a long, long time since I ate at a Herfy's. As I recall, the original chain served low quality burgers and was in competition with Arctic Circle. A real dive of a burger chain. The new and small Herfy's in Georgetown is a far cry from what I remember.
They have a huge selection. Lots of burger and fish options. so many it is almost confusing. I opted for a 1/2 pound (2 patty) Bacon Cheeseburger. They retained the sauce I do remember from the fancier burgers that the old chain had. A thousand Island tasting sauce. The burger was juicy, but not so much that I couldn't eat it in the car. The bacon was well flavored and crisp.
I had planned to stop at Burger Express in Federal Way, but fell to my hunger when I stopped to pick up pizza crusts a few blocks from Herfy's. While not rating 5 stars, the burgers deserve a full 4 stars. Certainly much more than I would have given the original chain.
UPDATE: I finally tried the Fish and Chips, well OK I substituted the Onion Rings for the fries. The Onion rings were OK, but nothing special. The fish - Cod - were 3 large sized pieces, thick and still juicy. Spuds - you should stop here and learn how to do fish right!!!
This food is pretty good. It's a bit greasy (but I don't tend to eat a lot of fast food anymore). The milkshakes are *delicious* and I suggest you get one with whatever you get! I had a philly cheesesteak thing and really enjoyed it. Their onion rings were a bit ehhh, but the milkshake made up for it.
I really dig the GT location for this Burger Joint. The food is consistently good. I feel the meat is a tad small though, but I love their Fry Sauce! It's a classic. The fries are always hot n crispy. When I can't afford Red Mill but in the mood for a Burger Herfy's is my favorite choice. The milkshakes are super good! I can't say anything about the rest of the food because I only eat the Burgers.
As fast food burger joints go, Herfy's does a great job of delivering. The burgers excel past the typical fast food restaurant with an almost home cooked flair. This could be due to my fond memories of their food from my youth - or the fact that my homemade burgers always seem to be this greasy. Either way, I like the restaurant and the products they serve.
This is a tasty little hamburger and shakes joint right off of I-5 in the Georgetown/South Park environs. The staff are very friendly and service is quick. The food is hamburger/fish and chips fare, but they're happy to accomodate requests. Try a shake!
The hamburgers are way good. The fish and chips are always tasty, but don't get the catfish (it looks dirty). Definitely get a milkshake. Any kind will do. I like the pineapple. Don't come here during lunch hours unless you're walking cause the parking lot is a joke.
So completely and thoroughly poisonous you'd be better off with a santorum shake and human finger fries.
One of the best places in town to get a decently priced milkshake in TONS of flavors. Pineapple, blackberry and chocolate rock! My daughter, the vanilla afficionado, gives it a thumbs up. A quarter pound hamburger and small, crinkle cut fries is what I got and I couldn't finish everything. My teen son almost couldn't finish his half pound burger and large fries. Almost. At least he wasn't hungry half an hour later like he usually is. Most of my budget goes toward feeding him. My daughter got the Garden Burger and said it wasn't the best she'd ever had, but it wasn't terrible and she might or might not get it again. How's that for decisive? This place is a burger joint. It's not fancy, but it's not McD's and definitely not the home of that creepy King. I remember when this was a large chain, but I think it's better now that it's independent with only a few places. You can get fish & chips and burgers made of things other than cows, but whatever you do, GET A MILKSHAKE.
