Q:
Are reservations needed on a Saturday evening?
A:
I would say strongly recommended! I am sure they have walk-ins, but just like in many other similar places, a reservation will ensure you get seated close to the time you want, and not whenever a table is available.

Just here to add ANOTHER 5-star review because everything we ordered was delicious from start to finish. Menu is on the pricey side, but it's SO worth it.
Service is immaculate. We went around 4 p.m. when it was slower and saw all of the servers combing over every table again to make sure things were spotless.
Wonderful place for first-timers in NOLA who want to try something Southern that won't disappoint!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Minji L.Dublin, CA30163758Feb 17, 2024
Best flavored dishes? Home made spaghetti which was intense with flavor but not salty at all. And banana brown butter tart - not too sweet, just the right ending to a great meal.
"Jumbo" shrimp was not so jumbo, LOL. And my search for a great gumbo will still go on.
Services were attentive. Not 'you read my mind' absolutely fabulous, but really good when asked.
Ambiance was interesting. Boho bistro vibe. Tables were set very close to each other, like I could bump the back of my head into guest sat behind me if I laughed hard. :)
Oh, and the prices. About $5-6 higher than what you see on the online menus. Mardi Gras prices that have not adjusted back? One has to wonder.
Good to see what the rave is about in this town.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christie M.Santa Monica, CA2254Jan 11, 2024

Great service. We came on a Monday night for dinner. Initially was empty but quickly got busy. Highlights for me was the Muscovy Duck Leg Confit and brown butter banana tart. Highly recommend those two dishes. Everything else was ok. Had a nice fancy atmosphere.

Restaurant Herbsaint is one of the major reasons we fly over 6000 miles from Hawaii to Nola. It is as close to perfection as possible. As soon as you walk past the outside tables you realize that the restaurant is completely packed. Then the fun part begins. You are greeted with the warmest and true Aloha spirit. All seating is super comfortable. The entire waitstaff makes you feel as if you are home. Everything just works. Dinner was as usual amazing. We happened to have the same waitress, Bianca Encalade who is by far a jewel in both the culinary world but in life. Her knowledge of each and every dish on the menu was as if she actually worked on the line. Being Wine Educators and Consultants we really appreciated the well thought out wine list. We loved being able to start with two glasses of excellent "real" French Champagne. Now comes something totally unheard of and really appreciated. Since we ordered seafood and pasta we wanted wines that married our choices found below. On their wine list they had two of our favorite wines by the glass, a white rose' from Provence and a Chateaux Pradeaux, a red wine also from Provence. These are almost impossible to find by the glass. Our choices were:Crawfish Cakes,Fried Oysters, Hamachi Crudo,Housemade Spaghetti guanciale and fried-poached farm egg. What an awesome evening. But we've had plenty of these at Herbsaint over the past six years. October is just around the corner.

Service including the aloha greeting should be packaged and sold. As former Wine Educators from NYC for over 40 years we really appreciated the very well thought out, affordable and detailed wine list. But of course the food! Some of the most complex multi layered dishes we've ever had outside of Paris. They also keep to the Cajun Creole theme.

Cool ambiance, great food and attentive service. Came here with an early weeknight reservation for 5 people but we ended up needing a table for 6. They said we could have a table for 6 as long as we left in about two hours. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and a few small bites while they prepared our table. We were then able to sit at our table before our full party arrived. They kindly reminded us that they needed the table at 7 pm when we had already run over by 15 minutes. I appreciated the reminder delivered with tact.
The food was delicious. The drinks were also tasty. I ordered my one Sazerac for my NOLA visit. Strong but good, puts hair on your chest as they say. We started with a ceviche. Really yummy. The housemade spaghetti was a table favorite. It's really creamy and delicious, more like a carbonara. The short rib was also very good.
For my main, I shared the wagyu and jumbo shrimp. The wagyu was cooked a perfect medium rare and the shrimp was delicious.
Service was very attentive. I think we had 4 different staff attend to our table throughout the night.
Delicious, will add Herbsaint to my go to NOLA eats.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 6, 2023
We found this gem while visiting and wanted to try a new place. We made reservation over the phon,, which was easy, and the wait to be seated wasnt long; the host was very pleasant when we walked in into the restaurant , and we were shown to our seat in under 2 minutes. Our servicer was very knowledgeble on the menu and gave use recommendations overall staff was excellent. The food was delicious and flavorful, but we did arrive earlier in the evening. i't did get a little busier than whe we first arrived, and louder. The seats are close together not very intimate if you will be talking as not much privacy but, we wthe were okay with that. Would go back and try something off the menu

I've heard about the wonderful food from Herbsaint but every time we came to NOLA, we were not able to get a reservation. During our last visit in the middle of the heat of June, we were able to get in and now I understand the hype.
We ordered small plates to share among the two of us. We started with the Heirloom Tomatoes. I thought this would be similar to an Italian tomato appetizer dish with cut tomatoes but there were bits of tuna and leeks. I thought this was a fresh dish before the heavier dishes. Next up was the Louisiana Shrimp and Fish Ceviche. Whenever we see ceviche on the menu, we most likely will order it. I thought this would be like the traditional Mexican ceviche type with the avocados and lime juice but this had some seeds and cucumbers and a little more spice. Not bad but not what I pictured in my head.
For the small plates as our entrees, we got the Tortelloni (one of the specials that day), and the Housemade Spaghetti. The tortelloni was in a light but somehow rich broth and the wrappers were soft and inside was juicy.
The spaghetti was a small serving but very filling. I thought this breaded/fried lump on top was cheese until I cut it in half - it was an egg! It added a bit too much creaminess to the dish (I love eggs but it felt too heavy to eat with the spaghetti).
Overall, this is an excellent dining option in the city with so many delicious options. I would absolutely make reservations the same day we book our travel back to NOLA.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
