I had a great experience here! My husband and I went in just hoping to test drive a BMW, and came back home with a great car! We were both dressed like slobs, but that didn't stop our wonderful sales agent Hadi Eslami from being nice. Hadi told us what cars he had available there, what was within our budget, the pros and cons of each model, and that we could test drive anything we wanted. There was absolutely no pressure, no hidden costs and fees, and none of the haggling BS. Hadi was upfront about every single detail.
My husband had some extensive research online on prices, but Herb Chambers' prices were better than the KBB value for our Certified Pre-Owned car. The financing options at BMW were much better than the rates at any of the online lenders. Azi Parvez walked us through the financing part, drew up our papers and explained all our options in detail. Hadi also talked to our insurance agent to give/get info about the car - we didn't have to do anything!
The only negative thing I have to say was that when we walked into the showroom, no one approached us. However, a lady who worked in the financing section saw our lost look and sent Hadi over.
All in all, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to buy a BMW!
I have no choice but to go here for my tune ups and oil changes since my car is still under warranty and those are free. A few months ago my passenger side mirror was knocked off and so I took it to this place.
The customer service was awful and the person taking down my information was as personable as a piece of gum stuck to the sidewalk. I asked for a loaner and there were none available, so I ended up sitting in the lounge for 5 hours.
My BMW dealership in Chicago had the best customer service, the most friendly workers AND....i always got a loaner for my car even if it was for an oil change!!!! Heck, I even got a brand new 2009 Audi A6 for a few days while my car was getting a tune up.
Herb Chambers blows goats and I will drive out of my way to another BMW dealership to get my oil change.
I don't know what it is, but every time I have to go here, I get the urge to flee the country. I hate calling, I hate going, I hate having to deal with their crap. First off, they won't give you a courtesy car unless you literally bought your BMW from their exact dealership.. in other words, not all BMW owners are equal.. despite us all paying the same damn PRICES... and FYI, BMW of North America Corporate is pretty clear that they aren't allowed to discriminate like this...
They can also be a pain in the a$$ if you need to not only be dropped off at work, but also picked up at the end of the day. Signing up for drop off is NOT the same as signing up for pick up, and they will glady tell you that pickup for that day is FULL, and you are S.O.L.
If I lived closer to any other dealership, I would seriously never go here again. CMON, HERB. Get it together!
I would never buy a car here. My husband and I went in on Sunday the 13th to literally buy an '08 X3. We went in, the receptionist did not even look at us. The X3 was the first car in the showroom. We had test-driven it previously at another dealership. We looked it over again. Sat in it, opened the hatch and inspected the cargo space. Opened and closed the doors. Not one single salesperson approached us. The receptionist continued to ignore us. We walked to the back of the showroom to find 5 sales guys watching the football game. We walked back to the receptionist to ask her to find someone for us. She rolled her eyes, got up, walked off and NEVER CAME BACK.
Obviously, this is indicative of how poorly we would be treated in the future if we HAD bought from them. I'll never go back there. We're buying from Tulley BMW in Nashua.
I certainly was stressed after years of wonderful care at BMW in St. Louis to start over with a new service team. My first few visits I was never super impressed with the customer service here, but the guys at the desks are pretty genuine and seem to make you feel they care about your car, even my 11 year old 318. I have had almost $4200 worth of service just this year and after my last service I noticed an oil leak. I had to wait an additional week after I called as soon as I saw a small puddle under the car. After explaining my frustration with this leak, all the money had spent and the fact that I really cannot put more money into a car this old. They admitted that a newer technician had tightened the oil pan screw in too tight and offered to repair their mistake. I was grateful for their honesty and glad they admitted their mistake. I will be back.
I bought two cars here within 5 months. The second car (Z3 2.8) was a lemon - flat out. Bought it with 5K miles and noticed after 2 weeks that the brand new rear tire was worn down due to a misaligned rear axle.
Service wanted to charge me $3500 to fix the problem - after owning the car for less than a month!! I went to the manager who pretended to take the issue seriously but then she dismissed me and never followed up or returned any of my calls.
I drove the car to the VW dealership that same day, sold it and guess what - they sold it back to Herb Chambers so they ended up with one less client and having to do the repair anyway.
Their sales people change more frequently than diapers on a baby and they are the least genuine and honest I have encountered. I now buy my cars from BMW of Peabody. It's far away, but the only BMW dealer in the great Boston area that is not Herb Chambers.
I agree with Brendan above! Chambers controls much if not all of the inventory flow of BMWs and half of the other car brands in Massachusetts. Ernie Boch Jr. controls the other half. They have near-monopoly power in the state and have are suspect of pushing the other car dealerships not owned by them to sell at their prices (or suffer not getting choice inventory from the car manufacturers). I've heard of stories where Ernie Boch Sr. years ago would literally get other dealers to jack up prices by threats of inventory control. This is illegal (collusion). By the way, both Boch and Chambers are listed as Billionaires in Boston Magazine! Yes, billionaire car dealers!
I had a very positive experience here. First off, they gave me more on trade for a junk Explorer than the Ford dealer would. I went after seeing an ad in the globe. Salesman was nice, test drive great. I never felt pressured or anything. The advertised deal was available, and there was no BS or hidden costs. I was really surprised. I had went in with low expectations having done some research online I knew what a good price was, and the ad deal was cheaper. I was prepared to walk out and buy a Honda at the first mention of hidden fees. Instead I drove off in a new 3-series!
