The Henry Derby House is actually 2 houses side by side, centrally located and walkable to many sites in Salem.  The main house seems to be a tribute to Americana (country).  The annex house has only 2 guest rooms , a bathroom and dinning room, which are all elegantly and pleasantly, but not overwhelmingly decorated.  The rest of the annex house is occupied by the owners.  The pink room in the annex where I stayed is beautiful with perfectly made beds, always (so remember to leave a generous tip).  Everything is so clean and there is even a kitchenette with a dinning area.  I absolutely love the bathroom and especially the bathtub.

I even got a long-term stay and off-season discount rate (in December).

I deducted 1 star for lack of off-street parking.  My car got towed though I parked it right next to the house.    It was due to a snow emergency of which I had no clue.  I would have really appreciated the owners giving  me a heads up on what was going on.  It would have just been a simple knock or note on the door.  I supposed that it wasn't their job to save me the inconvenience or $160.   In an act of anger or may be defiance to a higher power or protest, I decided to walk to the marina in snow and freezing rain to retrieve my car.  Half way there, I waved down a random car and asked the driver who was a middle-aged white man to take me to the marina.  You shouldn't do that as that was a stupid thing to do.  I do stupid things sometimes, but finally, I did get my car back without incident.
