My girlfriends and I (10 in total) went to Hell's Kitchen a couple of Saturdays ago. The food, service and entertainment were good. The reason for the bad review is that someone (likely the waitress) added an extra $10 to one of my girlfriend's credit card receipts after it had already been signed. This, on top of the mandatory gratuity that was added for the large party. I waitressed and bartended for 9 years of my life and can tell you that this is one of the most unethical practices around -- only slightly less egregious than messing with people's food or beverages (if you know what I mean). Thank goodness my friend kept the receipt so she spoke to a manager, who credited her the $10 and apologized. It may be unfair to give an entire establishment a bad review for one bad apple but unfortunately there's no way to rate individuals.

Please continue to patron this establishment because it's a great neighborhood spot but keep your credit card receipts and check them when your bill comes in. This is advice for all bars/restaurants but an employee at this particular place got caught, unfortunately.

Pretty great for what I assumed it would be like. Friendly, neighborhoodish, and comfortable. Slightly hipster. Food was good. Have to do the donuts. Would go back, but not hang out all night.

      Raspberry donuts. Pretty awesome.

My husband and I went to this place on a date night last Saturday. This was our first time at this place, and thanks to the manager it will be the last.

When first walking in we thought it was divey, some simple updates would really help give it a fresh feel. The tables all worn, the stage looked like it was gonna fall apart, and needed at the very least, a fresh coat of paint.

We sat at a table and ordered edamame, plantains without the pork, 2 "seven minutes in heaven", "paradise Punch", and most importantly a "Crabbie's orange ginger beer."

Let me say up front, the waiter was really good and attentive, and we have no complaints about him.

The food was surprisingly good, and very fresh. The drinks were delicious. I am very fussy with cocktails, as most bartenders don't mix properly. These drinks were not too sweet, and had a good amount of alcohol.

The show started over an hour late, and was not all that great.

When we got the bill, we noticed we were charged $6.50 for ginger beer, but on the menu it says $5. We asked the waiter about the discrepancy and he explained how the price changed. So, the menu says $5, but they actually charge $6.50. My husband explained we were not paying more than what is on the menu. The waiter went to speak with the manager. He came back out and said the manager is taking $.50 off the bill. However, that still leave $1 more than what the menu states. The waiter went back to speak with the manager again, came out and relayed to us the manager said he "would take it off the bill this time, but not next time"

So let's review, you have a beer for $5 on the menu, but without letting the customer know, you charge them $6.50. Then, when they complain, you offer them $.50

We decided since the manager never came out to speak with us, we went to the bar and called him over ourselves. I asked him why he wouldn't just change the price on the menu and he said "The menu says prices are subject to change."

We asked why he wouldn't bother to change the price on the menu so customers don't get a surprise when they get the bill. He repeated, "Prices are subject to change" My husband said "so you can price something for $10 on the menu, but charge $20?'

He had a bad attitude, didn't smile and didn't seem to care one bit, he'd just lost 2 customers who would have returned with friends.

Note to manager: You can't charge more than what the menu says, that is not legal. Also, it doesn't benefit business long term to allow 2 customers to leave unhappy over $1.50. Do you expect customers to ask if any prices went up on the menu before they order?

I love Hell's Kitchen. The only reason I am reserving a star is that I know there is a very fun night life here (especially burlesque thursdays) and I have never been able to experience it. This is one of the place we go when someone is having a going away party and also for our work fantasy baseball end of season lunch...what better place to give away a big check than a place with great food and vintage pinup girls all over the place?

Now, the food...I have NEVER had a bad meal here. That's tough to do in Newark-everyone has a bad day, but they are very consistent here and the food is not only great, but affordable. The nachos, meatball sliders, wings, and Lord of the Fries appetizers are awesome! You like Hot Dogs??? Try the Devil Dog-wrapped in bacon, stuffed with cheese and jalepenos...WOO HOO!

Burgers here are great-whether you go with a traditional cheeseburger or one of their specialties (Guiness and Memphis Blue are two of my favorites), but if you want to try something funky, try the Brick City Burger- 1/2 pound burger with onions, chorizo, cheese onion rings and their 'special meat spackle'. Seriously, meat spackle.

Other than the kielbasa and the pierogies, I haven't tried any of the non-bar food entree's, but if they are like the rest of the food in this joint it's all gotta be great. Someday I will be here for the nightlife and I'm sure it will be a blast!

I love the atomosphere here, if you love...devils...pinup girls...darkness..art and just a chill spot to come to..this is it. They always have events happening on the weekends..usually Burlesque shows. You will be sure to see at least one girl dancing on one of the poles. This place always has a big amount of people here---along with a dj. In the past ive even been lucky enough to come to an art show here. The waitors are nice and if you sit at a little table on the side or in the main room they will actually serve you.

The downfall is the space, since it does tend to get packed..its hard to walk around and even grab a seat. However, Ive noticed they have food and i really gotta try the food.

Went to brunch with my wife and friends, I was mostly disappointed in my overall experience. The burgers were not cooked to order and the food was under seasoned. The biggest downside was that they didn't have any warm donuts when we ordered. The only reason given was they didn't make enough because they didn't plan correctly.

The only upside for me is that I love feeling about walking to wear down bar with wear downed tabletops and chairs.

      Worst experience ever!

Do your self a favor and don't go. Place is a disappointment. They cant handle being busy, I waited for my food for over 40 minutes and after watching every other table that came after me getting their food I had to walk out because the manager was not handling the situation well. Horrible place. Never again!

I discovered this place after friends of mine asked me to meet them here before a Devils hockey game. That's all it took to sell me on coming back. (Well that and the fact that they were holding a drawing for a private event to dine with some retired Devils players and my ticket was picked to attend, but that's beside the point).

The place has a sexy vibe to it. Their wings are crispy, not soggy, and they offer a handful of sauce flavors that range from spicy to not spicy so you are bound to find one you like. Barbeque and garlic get two thumbs up. But be forewarned, garlic comes with chunks of garlic on top. The chicken quesadillas are just chicken and cheese served with a red and green dipping sauce and a dollop of sour cream on top of each slice. I do wish they would add a little more guts to them as I find when bite into the outer rim, all I get is a mouthful of tortilla.

Beer-wise, you can't go wrong. They have your usual as well as craft beers and seasonal craft beers. If you come with a group, you can get a large pitcher with spout of beer to share with the table. Happy hour is M-F, 4-7pm and includes some food and drink. I just had a peak at the brunch menu and definitely want to check it out. So I'll be back!

Food and service are getting worse. neighborhood local who has been coming here for a while and the past few months the service and food has gradually gotten worse.
Used to be a convenience, with decent food and good service, now, I can only say that it will be my last time there. I have given it numerous occasions to get it together and each time have been disappointed.

Great if you want to have a beer on tap or in a bottle, unfortunately. Bar tenders aren't able to make basic bar drinks like a Cape Cod (Vodka and Cranberry...how can you mess it u? but they do) or Margaritas (a sweetened pre-mix). Other than the fries and the burgers, the food is mediocre. Be warned with the happy hour menu. For the tacos, you are charged extra for lettuce, tomato, cheese and guacamole (when the menu states that the fish taco comes with guac)...shameful.

As a local that lives in the neighborhood (less than a 5 min walk from the establishment), I will take the extra time to over to Ferry or Mulberry Streets to get a good tasting meal and better service.
