Get seated, order from one of the 10 or so items on the menu (Beef, Beef, Beef), and enjoy the people around you.

I had a 16 oz Ribeye and it was AMAZINGLY fall-apart-ish.  The mashed potatoes were good, but became great once I asked for brown gravy.  They gave me the gravy in a 16 oz soup bowl to go with about 6 oz of potatoes.  Awesome.

I experenced a poor meal.  The beef tips were so-so but the mashed patatoes terrible.  They were dry and tasteless.  The green beans were from a can.  My wife's salad was just head of green stuff with no additional vegetables.  What can I say except we will not return.

This place used to be good, but I'm losing my respect for the joint.

They have remodeled the place to the point where not only is the inside filthy, and a maze to find a table... the floors are completely uneven which is not good when you have a customer utilizing a walker or wheelchair.  Also, you have to walk straight thru the smoking section to get to the non-smoking.  WTF good does that do?  We were at our table a good 10 minutes before I could not longer smell the smoke.

We went here last night for my mom's birthday dinner.  It was my parents, my grandfather (in a walker), my aunt, uncle, youngest cousin and his girlfriend.

The first lady took our drink orders.  3 teas and 5 waters (all with extra lemon).  The second person brought our drinks.  3 slices of water in the teas, none in the waters.  We asked for lemons, again.. and then she kept pressing us for our order... I finally had to say, we will order once we have lemons.

There were two non-steak orders... my mom ordered chicken fried steak and my dad had fried shrimp.  The rest of us ordered steaks.. 1 chopped steak, 1 tbone, 1 rib-eye and 2 sirloins.  Out of the 5 steaks, 3 of them were severely over cooked.  Two were ordered Medium, the rest medium rare.  1 Sirloin and the Chopped Sirloin  arrived medium rare.  The T-bone showed up well done (aka burnt).  The RibEye was medium (ordered medium rare).  There was a huge temptation to send it all back, but it was late and we were all tired.

Many people like the salads here at Heitmiller, although it is nothing but shredded iceburg lettuce.  Its just the 1000Island and Ranch in squeeze bottles that sit on the table that make the salads edible.  I ate Club Crackers with 1000Island squeezed on them while everyone else ate salads.

Both my aunt and uncle, and my parents... stated that the past two times they have come to Heitmillers they have had to send their steaks back because they were overcooked..  If you can't cook a steak Medium Rare... get out of the damn business.

I met my family here for a birthday.  It's a good place because my sister is in Ft. Worth, and the rest of the famn damily is in Austin.  They cooked the steak right, medium rare, which I can't complain about.

Here's the catch, no flavuh.  I really don't like buying steaks out because, I do a much better job at home.  Just buy a Sirloin from either Sam's or Costco, season it how you want it, and grill it up.  I think this place can really benefit if they get a wood grill.

This is a warning: do NOT go and eat at the new Heitmiller's Steakhouse in Bellmead off I-35. This is the worst experience I have EVER had at a restaurant! We used to go to the old one in Elm Mott and usually had good service and tasty food--- NOT the case tonight.

We were having our Christmas party, a party of 13 people, and we'd made a reservation well ahead of time. When we got there our table wasn't ready so we lingered in the lobby for awhile and were finally shown to a table in the back room of the restaurant where the tables are so crammed together that your chair back is mashed against someone else's. The waitress couldn't even get between the tables to take our orders so we had to play 'telephone' down the table to get information to her and also had to distribute our own drinks and appetizers. The only drinks she kept refilled were the alcoholic ones, probably because they are so expensive (a Captain Morgan and Coke was $9 and mixed very weak); I asked for a root beer refill 3 different times before the waitress brought one back. She also dumped a bunch of half-watered down tea in people's glasses if they needed a tea refill.

When our food finally started arriving, EVERYTHING was wrong. Four steaks that were ordered bloody-rare came out well-done to the point that you couldn't even cut into them. Baked potatoes were rock hard and so cold the butter wouldn't even melt. People's plates all had the wrong sides, or the sides never showed up at all. We started sending our food back because it was too pricey to keep it. My filet ($22) was sent back and they were supposed to send out a rare one in its place. Instead they brought me a huge hunk of meat that was at least half fat and gristle, and had ropy strands of gristle hanging off the side connecting it. I refused to eat it and several other people had to send theirs back AGAIN because it still wasn't right. One of the members of our party had had entire plate dropped all over her; fried okra and chicken fried steak all in her lap, and the waitress apologized but kept dishing out food--- didn't even try to help clean her up or pick up the food all over the floor around her!

Finally I got up to get the manager and she came over to our table. She started handing out the food herself and got upset when she saw how much of it was wrong, so she disappeared into the kitchen (I assume to talk to the cookstaff). When she came back, the rest of our table got their food--- two hours after they placed their orders originally. We sat with them while they ate, and the manager came out to give us our bills. She made a big deal about how she was giving us 20% off our totals--- nevermind that most of us never touched our food and some of us only got partial orders. She tried to charge me $15 for the untouched filet on my plate even though she acknowledged that it was gross and unacceptable. My friend was charged for the food they dumped all over her!

After a lot of arguing and talking to the manager, some of us got our meals comped--- most of my party paid for the food that was cold, prepared wrong, and uneaten. We were ALL displeased and it really ruined our Christmas party; I told the manager that it felt like a hidden camera crew should pop out any time and inform us that it was all a joke.

I would NEVER eat there again, and don't recommend it to anyone else. This place is an overpriced joke and the entire experience was horrible for all involved. We arrived at 6:45 and we left the restaurant at 10:50; that ENTIRE time was spent trying to get a decent meal for our money.

Had a very disappointing experience here last weekend.  I've previously had very good meals here, but something has changed for the worse.  We arrived and found no one at the door.  After quite a few minutes, an older lady indicated that the hostess would be with us shortly.  Well, shortly can apparently mean many different things to different people.  When the hostess showed up, she said she wasn't ready to seat us and had us wait a bit longer.  Then when she came back to seat us, she said something to the effect that they didn't have enough wait staff tonight.

She turned out to be truthful, because we were seated in a room with four occupied tables.  Despite sitting with closed menus for ten minutes, three separate waitresses came and went and never said a word to us.  We finally left and no one said a word to us on the way out.  We ended up eating in Dallas instead.

Quite a shame to see a previously good restaurant fall on hard times.  Based on the other reviews posted here, it appears that our experience isn't an aberration.

Came here from Austin the July 4th weekend heading back to Dallas.  I was told by a friend that the food was good.  Traffic was terrible. The lady friend and I was starving.  Let's do it.

Came in around 3:30pm on Sun, essentially nobody in the restaurant except a small party in a  banquet room.  Looked at the menu... the lady friend decided on the kids portion of the chicken fried steak, I went for the 12oz rib eye.

I ordered french fries with cajun seasoning (a suggestion from the server) and fried okra as my two sides.  I won't lie, the fries and okra were actually cooked really well.  They weren't greasy at all... but I mean fried okra is fried okra.  Fries were tasty...both hot and right out of the fryer, the way it should be.

Like most of the other reviews I would probably have to agree, the steak was rather bland.  Quality of meat was average.  Her chicken fried steak was thick, nice crunchy crust, seasoned well, pretty bang'n.  Her mashed potatoes and cream gravy...buh-land.  I should have ordered 2 sides of flavor.

FYI: There is a menu item labeled "Calf fries"....yea, just to let ya know those are cow balls, aka rocky mountain oysters, aka chocolate salty balls.  A small portion can be seen in the picture on the plate to my right.  Yes, I tried it...

I was terribly annoyed by the flies landing in my hair.  Service was consistent and helpful.

Their chicken fried steak is awesome.  So are their mashed potatoes and fried okra. Since the other rewiews stated any steak was mediocre, we didn't try them.  This review is only on their service (which was fantastic) and the chicken fried steak.

The 1/2 order is enough, since the full order is 2 huge chix fried steaks.

I had an 8oz steak that looked like a 6oz. There wasn't any flavor to it. If I'm going to spend $18 on steak, I'll go somewhere I know is good. You'd think that it would be good, a steakhouse in the country (sorta) but I'd look somewhere else next time I want steak.

we stopped by on our way back from austin one weekend because my father-in-law raved about how excellent the chicken fried steak was. the place is just off of the service road, so when exiting off the highway and driving under the bridge, you have to make a right. you know those crazy two way service roads in the country.

there were probably only six other people in the restaurant while we had our early dinner. my hubby orders the full chicken fried steak, which we misunderstood as being a whole chicken fried steak versus the half order, which would be half the size of a normal size steak. we were surprised that the full order is actually two chicken fried steaks. whoa...that's a lot of food. with a side of green beans and french fries, i can see the look in my hubby's eyes that this was more than what he'd bargained for.

i order the 8oz ribeye. its a steak house and i love ribeye, so it has to be good right? nope, it wasn't. my steak was accompanied by a baked potato and fried okra. the sides were pretty good, but my main course was a sad disappointment. the steak was rubbery, hard to cut, and flavorless. it was not at all what i hoped for.

the upside of our experience was the chicken fried steak. it was excellent. it was a nice thick cut, and the crust was crispy. the french fries that came with my hubby's order was also pretty good. our service was consistent. the waitress brought by a pitcher of iced tea and water to our table, so there was no need for her to keep too close of an eye on us. the cfs is the only reason this place is getting two stars.
