If Don Draper came to San Jose he would spend his night drinking old fashions at the Hedley Club Lounge.
This is not the typical downtown San Jose drinking experience, you aren't going to find a DJ or douche bags handing out fliers for the "big event" they are promoting. Instead you'll find live jazz, quality cocktails, and comfortable seating in an upscale atmosphere.
If you're looking for a place to sit and have drinks with the boys from Sterling Cooper Draper Price this is definitely your spot. -

The Hedley Club Lounge harkens back to a different era and is swanky without being too pretentious. We came here for happy hour a few days before New Year's Eve and it was pretty quiet and we had our choice of seating. The happy hour deals are great with $7 cocktails and $4 small bites and make going out a little more affordable.
This place has a great vibe and our server provided some good drink suggestions. Parking was fairly easy, but I imagine that being within walking distance of the HP Pavilion makes this place a prime spot before any large events. Otherwise, great place to catch up and grab a drink with friends. -
Review from Jen C.
I came here on Wednesday night to enjoy live jazz and it was packed! Luckily, my husband and I found seats at the bar where we could watch the Sharks play. People were coming in and out so we found a spot on the couch. I felt sorry for those who stood all night, why couldn't the hotel bring in more chairs (like they do at Hotel St. Claire when there's live music)??? But I guess they didn't mind standing around because they stayed for a long time... drinking, talking, laughing, daydreaming, and/or just listening to music.
The happy hour drinks and appetizers were available all night so that was cool. I had wine, fries that were yummy, and bruschetta that I didn't care for much. The spread/sauce in the bruschetta was kind of bland and almost gross, the tomatoes made it edible. I'm not ordering that next time.
Nice lounge, great music, good happy hour drinks, yummy french fries. Yeah... I'll come back next time they have live music. -

The Hedley Lounge is exactly what I expected.
Unfortunately for my friends it wasn't.
I really enjoy live jazz music and I expected this place to have a very mellow vibe.
I think I spoke so highly of this place that they thought it was going to be packed with women.
It is definitely a much older crowd.
But the music and drinks are great.
If you like jazz/Live Music/Well Drinks. GO! -

The Hedley Club Lounge was a pleasant surprise. One of my friends and I were looking for something low-key to do last Friday, and so we decided to check it out. I generally avoid going to downtown San Jose unless I am going to a concert, or to a comedy show, but I decided to brave it, and I am glad that I did.
The Lounge is really nice. The seating is great. The ambience is great. The appetizers were good, and according to my friend, the drinks were good too. There was a really cool band playing that night. The music was really good, and some people got up to dance.
The crowd is a professional, mature one which is nice. The last thing you would want in a setting like that is some crazy youngsters interrupting the calm and relaxed vibe. All in all, I will definitely be back in the near future. -

Amidst all of the ghetto supastar (well, not really) activity in San Jo, lies this really awesome lounge with some super talented jazz artists. My friend took me here this past Saturday, and we had an awesome time listening to the jazzy jazz playing some Herbie, while sipping on some gingerale and Malbec. We also ordered some brocolli rabe to munch on, which was delish.
I really liked how the place wasn't super crowded and just really, really chill. We sat on a very comfy sofa which made it conducive to sipping on our drinks while making origami inspired jumping frogs. Good times. -

Ignore the ragged old hotel sign, ignore the 60s color scheme, ignore the tacky, but once cool, palm trees. Take a deep breathe, fight the feeling to run away and step into the classiest hotel and slickest bar scenes in San Jose
One of the few places you can be dressed to the 9's in SJ and have a drink and not feel out of place. You can still come in t-shirt and jeans and the staff will love you and pour you stiff ones all the same.
Pros:
~ Knowledgeable, friendly and local bar staff will chat with you about drinks, Sharks, Joey Chestnut or local eats whether you're from town or out a great staff to chat with.
~Well made tasty drinks at reasonable downtown SJ prices
~ Live Jazz music Thursdays - Sundays. Only at A Perfect Finish do you get the same vibe and feel.
~ Cozy furniture to sprawl and enjoy the music and your spirit of choice
Cons:
~ It's a bit of a walk from a public SJ parking lot
~ Definitely not the place to pick up ladies in the already vast wasteland that is Man Jose -

This is a nice spot for drinks, apps, and all that jazz... literally.
This place is old school but that's a welcomed change sometimes to the overly modern uber trendy scene.
I was here last Saturday for the SJ Jazz Fest Club Crawl and caught the second jazz band. They were awesome! Everyone was digging their infectious vibes and they even got some people up on their feet dancing. Good times!!! -

My friend was in town and they were staying at the hotel, I thought it was going to be a dive place but when we met them in the bar I was very surprise at the inside of this place. The nice couches and how clean this place was I was shock, we had a few drink and just kick back and had some great conversation. The bartender was very nice and the service was excellent. We found out later this evening there going to be some jazz band playing so we decided to come back later. We didn't make it back we were in the city all night that a another story.

Wonderful live music, comfortable atmosphere, attentive bartender...what more could you ask for? This place definitely seems to attract an older crowd, but everyone I've ever met here is very friendly and easy-going. Sometimes the regular bar scene can get tiring or I'm just not up for big crowds and loud music, I'm glad to know the Hedley lounge is an option. If you're looking for something different to do in dtsj on a friday night definitely give this place a shot.

Review from Cammy C.
Pretty small venue but it's nice and intimate. I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group unless you want to sit outside (where there are tables and chairs and an awning.) The servers were tentative and friendly, but the drinks were pretty awful. I would say, just stick to the drinks you know rather than trying the creations from their cocktail menu. And the music was much too loud, I was having to scream the entire night just to talk to the person next to me. Albeit, the jazz players were rather talented. I'd like to come back for their HAPPY HOUR (M-F 4-7pm) and try some of the other things on their kitchen menu. I love when places offer happy hour!

Review from Kim D.
I came here for a friends get together before she heads back to San Diego and it was very nice. It was a random Tuesday night so it was pretty empty besides a few other guests and our small party. She ordered a few of the house bottles of wine and some cheese plates and pizza. The pizza was pretty damn good and the cheese hit the spot as well. I did get a mai tai which was very yummy and the wines were pretty decent. Overall, the service and food was pretty good.
However, one thing was my friend did order the burger and it wasn't so great. I did share one of the desserts that sounds like a tiramisu which was awesome.
I'd come back again for a chill night w/ a few friends or a cute date perhaps. It's not a party-scene but more of a laid back feel where you can enjoy a good drink, a few appetizers, and a good conversation. -
Review from Steph V.
Finally got to check this place out. If you're a jazz fan, definitely come by here one night and check it out! I was here this past Thursday with a few buds and it was super chill. We arrived there around 9:30a and the band was finishing up one song. They stopped to break fro dinner but that gave me a chance to admire the beautiful majesty of the this place. Amazing architecture, I swear. This was my first time here and (I heard) Lady Gaga stayed here when her tour stopped by here. Rightly so! It makes San Jo look so classy!
The band was awesome and chill. They played off music sheets but free styled too. The seating was super comfy and there wasn't much of a crowd for a Thursday night, which was nice. The drink prices are reasonable, moderate for what we got in exchange. Good music, good company, good atmosphere.
I'll definitely be back for more. -
Review from Erica S.
Great place for drinks while listening to some live jazz. Came here on a Saturday night at 9:30 and it was pretty busy. Better arrive when they start the live music at 8:30 to get decent seats. The 4 of us had to squish ourselves on a small couch with our backs turning to the band and right next to the fireplace, which was making us overheat. Not the best seats. There were quite a bit of couples there too, but I think it's a great place to come with friends to lounge.
Loved the high ceilings, fireplace, wall art, and the plush furniture. Makes you feel like you're in another country. They have small plates that you can order until 10PM, probably from the Italian restaurant next door. Ordered a Moscow Mule to drink, but it was too gingery for me. Our server was terrible. She was unfriendly, didn't come to check up on us, and she took forever to clear our table of the dirty dishes.
The band that night took requests so I got to hear one of my favorite songs, "Fly Me to the Moon." Yay!! We stayed till the end, 12:30. An entertaining night it was! -

Decent jazz band, great cozy atmosphere and service. Drinks are tasty, not watered down like most places. The appetizers are decent but not great. If this is what your looking for then swing by and check it out. Great for meeting early 30's to late 50's crowd.

I have to say, I grew to LOVE Hedley Lounge! The vibe is different with a live jazz band, much of an older crowd, but their kick-back and cool, service is top-notch, and the happy hour? Yep, something you gotta try! Drink menu offers high-class spirits and a great selection of wines. Food is to drool over....LOVE the thin crust pizza for $8!! Come early to get better seating, because it does get crowded during the weekends! Just exactly how I remembered it the first time I came here, interior is gorgeous with high ceilings, low-lighting chandelier, and the rustic villa theme going on...perfect for an evening in SJ.

San Jose, CA
No place to sit on crowded nights like Fridays and Saturdays I'm assuming. We showed up to this spot since it had pretty decent reviews to try and impress our friend who was visiting and wanted to have drinks with us again. We were hoping this place would be a fun experience like singlebarrel down the street. BOY, were we WRONG-O!
Drinks here are pretty...nasty in my opinion. I ordered a drink that a fellow Yelper recommended, it had a unique name to it with a UNIQUE taste, unique meaning nastayyy. When we finally scored some seats at the bar I decided I should order a simple drink like a mai tai. Probably one of the grossest mai tai's I've ever had. Almost as gross as the tequila sunrise I had at this ghetto lookin nightclub down the street from this place.
The only upside to this place is that the couches are actually SUPER comfy. Fugly, but super comfy.
(Restrooms are located on the lower level of the hotel)
Beware of Pukey McPukerson older women there who can't handle their alcohol. My friend almost fell in the pukage at the top of the stairs that was drippin and leading down to the lower level into the restroom. ICK!
Also, the damn waitress tried to charge my bf twice for the crappy drinks we had at the bar. That is a NO-NO in my book. I'm already cheap as it is sometimes, don't be chargin me double hobag.
On a better note, there's a pretty Christmas tree out in the lobby of the hotel and you can take off the ornaments and play around with them and take funny asian pictures. Yeah, I said it...and we did it! Camera whores rule! :D -

My husband and I LOVE this place! It's the perfect venue for two or for a group of friends. The cocktails are wonderful...try the French 75, and the food is delicious. On cold nights, make sure to claim your spot in front of the wood burning fireplace on the super comfy couch.

Come a little early and you can avoid the seating problem on the weekend.
We headed here on a Friday evening around 8pm and were able to get seats facing the right direction (towards the music). Some unfortunate souls had to sit on the couch facing away from the music and towards the front door (good for people watching I guess). The venue is pretty small and probably has seating for 50 or less.
Unfortunately, we missed happy hour, but the prices are not bad (I still compare everything to downtown San Diego). Service was attentive, but there were only two servers covering the entire place, so it was a little slow... but, our drinks never really sat empty too long. The bar doesn't have draft beer, but they did have one of my favorite nut brown beers!
The music was excellent. Not sure who provided the speakers (hotel or band), but they should upgrade. The ambiance and decor made for a good date night.
The only annoying part? Sitting next to an Indian guy and an Asian lady that met online and were all over each other the entire evening - get a room already!! -

i love this place. I come here specifically for their Moscow Mule - which is amazing. They use a fresh ginger beer, and it is the most refreshing drink.
The menu is very good. I have tried:
-meatballs
-margherita pizza
-goat cheese/beet salad - delicious!! tons of creamy goat choose and hearty with beets
-cheese plate
-prosciutto
everything was very good. It is a little bit on the more expensive side, but it is good quality food with yummy flavors that you wont find elsewhere. (Paul and Nicole are excellent bartenders....) -

Hedley has live jazz on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Checked out the jazz trio BASSment at Hedley Lounge on Saturday ... and it ended up staying from 8 am til past midnight enjoying its amazing food, comfy lounge sofas, and chill atmosphere.
The wine selection is extensive - and the plates are innovative and fresh. The menu ranges from $5-$20. Favorites include:
- roasted brussels sprouts & pancetta
- ravioli with brown butter & sage
- carpaccio with arugula, Parmigiano-Reggiano, & crispy shallots
- pizza/sandwich with grilled fennel, goat cheese, & truffle oil
- pizza/sandwich with fontina, tomatoes, & arugula-Parmesan salad
Street parking can be difficult but the hotel has a valet. You can also pay for garage parking nearby. Of course, if you don't mind walking a few blocks, the Caltrain is accessible. -

San Jose, CA
The San Jose bar scene sucks. Thankfully, this place is nothing like other drinking holes in downtown SJ. This place is classy, less crowded, more quiet. Beers, cocktails, and what looks to be a decent selection of wine (but I'm not expert) all available. I've tried a couple of the small plates too, also good. All the drinks (I've had various beers, cocktails, and wines) I've had here have been stand up. You also don't have to fight anybody to get a drink, even if it is busy. Service is great.
Jazz on the weekends.
A super spacious outdoor but covered patio where you can smoke. Really nice in the winter when you don't want to freeze as you blacken your lungs.
One downside: the bathroom is all the way down a flight of stairs and around a corner -

LOVE the vibe at Hedley Club - even without the live jazz. Tons of cozy lounge chairs and sofas, which are perfect for kicking back with one of their signature cocktails. Plus their weekday happy hour from 4-7pm is awesome - most drinks are half price, as well as their pizzas.
If you're into elderflower liquor, Grey Goose pear vodka and grapefruit juice, then you must try the Diving Diva. So smooth and so tasty! And can I give a shout out to the fastest bartenders in the entire bay area? I swear they had the drinks just waiting for me behind the bar. One second I was ordering, and the next, I had a martini glass in my hand.
The art deco interior is gorgeous, and the high ceilings give it a glamorous feel. A perfect spot for some pre-partying, or a late night cap.Listed in: The Places I Go Out, Dining in Downtown San Jose

Review from Christine H.
San Jose, CA
Lately, life has been giving me a little beating making it necessary to schedule a little happy hour session with a friend .. and what better place to try out than Hedley Club Lounge in Hotel DeAnza in downtown San Jose.
It's such a beautiful, quiet little lounge that doesn't seem to get enough love. Yes, it's a jazz club/lounge.. but you don't need to be older to appreciate all genres of music. When we got to the place, we were the only ones there except for one gentleman at the bar. We were "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing at how cutesy it was, and the plus was there was a big outdoor patio as well!
I ordered a Mai Tai and my friend ordered a pink drink in a tall glass cup. It was a happy hour drink but the name has totally slipped my mind. For some reason I was under the impression that a Mai Tai was a girly, sweet drink.. but boyyyy was I wrong. One sip was all I needed to say, "Dayum, this is some strong sh~t but I ain't complaining!" Haha. I took another sip still in a confused state of mind and confirmed that, yes, it was nasty.. nasty in a good way lol. I felt the effects of the drink within the first few sips.
We ordered the Rustica pizza and shoe string fries. The fries came out and looked extremely disappointing, but I guess we were hungry and didn't think the shoe string fries would be really that stringy. They were sooooo stringy that what meat was on the fry got fried away :( All it was was simply a crunchtastic bundle of crunchiness... a little bit disappointing as I love, love, love fries. But, we still managed to clean the plate teehee! So, it's a-okay.
Anyways, the pizza came out and totally made up for it. Yes, it's a happy hour pizza, but it wasn't as small as I thought it would be since I was assuming from the looks of the shoestring fries :) Mmm, it was good.
My friend ordered another round of that pink drink and I opted for the Side Car.. a martini. Actually, I usually don't like/order martinis but was unaware it was a martini so I ordered it from the suggestion of the waitress. The drink came and I took a sip. Yet another sucker punch from left field.. that drink was dis-gus-ting! She was naaasty. Which equates to: it was strong! But all martinis are, I suppose! I manned it up and drank it all though!
By the time we were ready to leave.. we had only enjoyed about 5 minutes of the live jazz band that had came and set up. I believe live music starts at 8pm. The place got loud quickly so I would suggest turning down the volume a tad so that conversations can still be carried in the lounge. It IS a tiny place after all. Several others were in the lounge now and I'm sure more were on their way.
Summary: STRONG drinks (kudos to the bartender!!), lovely little posh lounge, live jazz music... perfect for a chill night drinking and talking! Oh, not to mention, good, attentive customer service :) -
Review from Dennis O.
I like this place. Nice cushioned couches, not too deep but just enough to be able to sit properly and enjoy the live Jazz music. Its a bit difficult to talk when they're playing but that's normal especially since I came here with a big group of Yelpers.
If I can lie down the couches and snuggle with my loved one while listening to the music, I'll be really happy forever.
Anyway lets get back to reviewing:
The servers are very fast and sharp. I ended up ordering a Shiraz and Pinot during the evening. The decor looks like the interior of an Arabic palace, must be why the tapestries ( are those huge paintings called Tapestries?) all show a well dressed bearded man that may or may not resemble Lawrence of Arabia all over the place. There's also an outside patio which is connected to the lounge (Must be part of the hotel) where you can smoke and listen to the music.
I'll be coming back to this place in the future.
Hopefully not alone. .. -
Review from Mikey U.
It was evident from the onset that I was not the typical constituent of Hedley's usual patronage; my attire more gruff and urban than polished and aristocratic, and my company... well... you know how we do.
But critical onlookers aside, the establishment has an air of class and refinement that is sure to leave an impression on whomsoever you might be entertaining for the evening, and the live jazz ensemble adds just the right amount of panache to deem an evening here an eventful affair in is own right.
The plush seating, vaulted ceiling, and a rich and timeless "art deco" influenced design amount to, in my wannabe-artist's opinion, one of the best designed rooms/venues in Downtown San Jose, bar none.
Though I intended to take it easy for the evening and stick to just wine (and the best laid plans oft go awry, yes?), the night started with a fine-though-potent $15 glass of Talisker Scotch; I wasn't impressed with the narrowness of their wine list, but some of their vintages are choice selections. Scotch just seemed right, under endorsement of Tetsu "SV Best Writer" N. Most excellent!
All in all, Hedley is a relatively underexposed gem, and I take it the rugulars like it that way.
For discreet solo outings (...hello, cougar!) to unabashed romantic trists (... whoa, couple making face!), Hedley is a striking backdrop. For an outing on the scale of an SBC UYE invasion, not so much.

Review from Aileen A.
I don't drink at all and I'm sick of having to go to all these nicely decored clubs with their super casually dressed patrons and their TERRIBLE music. My music preferences vary, and I love hip hop-but I am sick of the cycle of repetition of Empire State of Mind, Low ("Boot's with the furrrrr....the whole club was looking at hhhhhher!!!" Do I really have to down 8 shots of hen to be okay with their less than stellar music selection?
I thought I'd run out of options when it came to late night down town entertainment. Randomly, I wanted to go to a jazz bar and my best friend suggested this place. We hoped we weren't underdressed (I was wearing a sweater and jeans) and that parking (on a Saturday) wouldn't be an issue. We found parking pretty easily around the hotel, a block away.
We walked in and the bellboy called it: Hedley Club? Walk straight, turn left. Small place, maybe half the size of a ballroom or a little more? Low lights, with the musicians in the corner. Seats were all full, so we ordered some beverages at the bar and milled about. A couple left their seats, and I swooped that as fast as you would for a 50" LCD tv on sale on a Black Friday.
Really great crowd and awesome live jazz music. I think this is the only place in San Jose that I have been in that really understands the concept of LOUNGE. You know, comfortable seats?? Where you can really relax (i.e. lounge?) I had a cran juice and my bestfriend had water that sufficed us for the 3 1/2 hours we were there. We weren't hassled, and everybody behaved as adults do.
They serve food that we were unable to try because the kitchen was closed at 10pm, but the selections sounded yummy! I am definitely going back again.

Review from Walter P.
This was our official pre-game dinner spot before the Yelp Pley Elite event! It's been common practice now for the SBC* to have a dinner and cocktails before starting the event. It makes it easier to comfort the belly and our spirits. Hedley Lounge was a perfect call for this. It has a sophisticated (not swanky) atmosphere with their some upscale seats, living room manor décor, and elegant lounge area tables. The only gripe I have is their low ambient lighting that needs to go up a notch. It might help while meeting a blind date. Anyway, let me talk about two of their awesome pre-game dinner cuisines:
Rustica Pizza
This is screaming with fresh mushrooms. The cook did not leave any blank spaces. It was covered with so much goodness of mushrooms that I nearly finished the entire 14" pizza. Accompanied with Italian sausages, sweet onion, chopped fresh oregano, and Fontina, this was perfect for pre-game meal. Crust... crunchy bottom and chewy inside!
Lamb Chops
My friend, Sha B, ordered the lamb chops that arrived perfectly warm and sweating with all the natural juices dripping from the texture. I was able to sample one piece and let me tell you - the gamey taste of this lamb chop was very slight (the way it should be). Instead, the tender taste of lamb and this rich punch of herbs and wine sauce harmonized very very well. I felt like I was judging an Iron Chef battle because I was savoring this bad boy! If I didn't know any better, I would have ordered this dish along with my pizza. This definitely going to be my next dish here!
As for the cocktails and wines, I invite everyone to check their unique selection. http://www.hoteldeanza... I haven't spending too much time here yet, but rest assure I will be returning. Big note to all visitors: Hedley Lounge is located inside the Hotel De Anza. You won't see a sign for Hedley Lounge from the street. You must physically walk through the hotel lobby. Also, dress up. The place is sophisticated so no surf or casual wear.
Note to all newbie Yelpers: Make it a plan to have a light dinner before attending a Yelp Elite Event. You can't go wrong satisfying your appetite on a light note. Plus it will get your palettes ready for any samples at the event.

Went here for a UYE on Friday. This place is surprisingly nice. High vaulted ceilings and a classy feeling place with jazz. It's a pretty large venue with plenty of seating, from couches near the fireplace to chairs and ottomans to regular table seating in the middle and a bar at the end. Our large group sat near the band, and consequently it was so loud you could barely talk.
The group eventually went to the outdoor seating area which was just as large and totally empty. We circled around a table that sat 12 until we were ready to leave.
The drinks are decently priced but the service can be a little slow, but this place is for chilling so I'm not going to ding them on that.
I will drop a star for 1) the bathrooms being so hard to find (downstairs around many corners); and 2) the older couple sucking face in the corner not 10 feet away from us. It made me wish I was drunker. Ne'er were the words "Get a room!" so close to coming from my mouth. -

HAHAHAHAHA!
I do, I do like this place! I went back last week with the crew and low and behold - the food is good and the drinks are even better. It tastes so much better when I hear it's happy hour. Loved the meat and cheese plate... the shoe string fries... the calamari.. and the plate of tasty raviolis was only improved by the crisped herbs that it was topped with.

Nothing like drinking your wine/beer while listening to the jazz group performing. And then taking your drink and crew into the back. I can never get enough of the back patio. It's just nice.
Definitely going back again!

Review from Tetsu N.
Dublin, CA
Hedley's is a fairly typical bar and lounge in mid to upscale hotels.
The lounge is very distinct and separate from the rear courtyard area, but I'll review them as "main lounge" and "rear courtyard".
The main lounge area has a nice central area with deep leather and cushioned sets and large low rectangular glass coffee tables, and the edges consist of the bar (left wall from entry), live jazz corner (Far right corner from entry), a large fireplace (right wall from entry), and additional seating with small seats and small coffee tables.
The far wall is all glass windows and glass doors leading to a great courtyard that has openings to the outside but feels fully enclosed. The light colored stone floors and fountains and light airy feel are in stark contrast to the darker main lounge area. This large courtyard area, being technicall outdoors, has large ceiling corner heaters that run horizontally along the crown of the room, and since it's technically outdoors, has several ashtrays scattered around breakfast bar tables. there are larrger round tables set at dining height seating maybe 6 or 8 people.
Great effort has been made to make this area look classy, but the lounge looks more put together than designed. Between the bar, the fireplace, the large leather seats, the modern cushioned seats, the orange deep seats, mixed coffee table styles, small cushioned round stools, and the deep day-bed style sofas, there is very little consistency to the lounge.
That's okay....There are many lounges like this that mix things up with whatever furniture they have. As long as each individual piece or each set looks fairly good, most people don't care. Neither do I, really, just easily noticeable.
The jazz area was fine too. But considering the kind of place it was, I was surprised that the music was so unusually loud. I guess I'm used to more laid back places like the village vanguard in ny where the music volume is a lot lower and you can have some side conversations without screaming.
There did seem to be a few people who were there specifically for the band, and I feel a little sorry for them, as there was a large group of us talking and walking around, other couples and groups as well standing around and moving through the lounge, and kids playing solitaire. None of this fit with the jazz bar vibe.

UPDATE: 5/11/08- Some friends and I went here again last night to celebrate someone's birthday and Marissa was our server again! So... our server noted that she had read my positive review of her on yelp, and is a fellow yelper herself. What a sweetie, she hooked up a complimentary drink for my friend's b-day! (BTW, the Apple Martini is quite tasty and made with a unique sour apple concentrate, not a sour mix.) I am officially coining the term "6 Degrees of Yelperation" to relate this phenomenon of getting hooked up or noticed because of a review.

A great place to chill with friends or significant others for free (no cover) and order some excellent drinks, food and desserts. The chairs are ultra comfy and the ceilings have cool, rustic designs to stare up at. My bf has to go to a few jazz shows for a class he is taking and went last night because his professor was performing in a jazz band trio (standard lead guitar, bass, and drums). They were great and they even did jazz renditions of requests like Marvin Gaye's "What's going on", and my request of Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious".
The service was wonderful and our waitress, Marissa was very sweet and accommodated our needs to the fullest. I had to order a dish without pancetta, and she was able to have the cooks remove it from the grilled prawns we ordered. "MOST EXCELLENT", as Bill and Ted would say. Oh, and the cheese ravioli with browned butter and sage were excellent also.
Lastly, we had a great dessert made with a meringue cup, filled with cooked apple pieces and caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla bean gelato. My bf inhaled it, barely giving me a chance to enjoy it.
I must say, the last highlight of the night included a cute couple (in their late 60's/early 70's) sitting on a couch nearby enjoying their dinner and drinks. After the first hour we noticed that they gently went into slumber after finishing their food, drinks and dessert. We amusingly watched them for about 30 minutes before hotel staff eventually asked them to wake up. I'm sure they enjoyed their night! Talk about a chill and relaxing atmosphere!Listed in: Live and Breathe Bay Area…

The ladies - Anna, Kay, and I were back together for the Memorial Day weekend! Anna and I had a whole evening planned - dinner at the San Pedro Bistro and Wine Bar and then head over to the Hedley Club Lounge for some jazz and drinks. Unfortunately, our friend's plane arrived late and so we decided to nix the San Pedro Bistro and instead, we headed straight to the Hedley Lounge. Luckily, Anna being the planner that she is made Kay a gourmet sandwich and so she scarfed that down in the car, "hittin' the spot" as Kay said.
Just as we got seated, the kitchen had closed. It closes promptly at 10 p.m. They're known for their mixed cocktails so I ordered the Hedley "Amore-Hito", Anna got the Apple Martini, and Kay ordered a martini but the name of the drink escapes me. My drink aka mojito was not too strong, just light and refreshing. Both martinis were a bit strong but had a great flavor to it.
We just sat back in the cozy, comfy chairs and enjoyed the jazz music that was playing. The room has got great acoustic sound. Wonderful way to begin the 3-day weekend with my girlfriends. -

We were in need of a place that was laid back, offered good jazz, and didn't have the "bar scene" that Downtown San Jose is now filled with. Hedley Club Lounge was just that. As the last stop of our evening of de-stress, we couldn't have picked a more perfect place near home.
The lounge is really quite beautiful, though small. The décor has a Spanish Villa feel and gives the illusion that you're in an outdoor courtyard. How clever. Warm wood tones, fire place and large comfy chairs fill the center area.
It was a bit crowded when we arrived but there were plenty of stools open at the bar. The bf and I popped on over and was greeted by the bartender who turned out to be very hospitable and funny. Since we had just finished dinner, we didn't order any food but everything we saw sure looked and smelled tasty. The wine list was not vast but offered a few choices all with great prices. We settled on a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon at only $32 for the bottle. That's a deal.
The band that night was really talented and played songs that were all slightly reminiscent though we could not place the names. Despite other reviews (or maybe that night was an anomaly) we found the crowd to be quite diverse. Yay!
Overall, it was wonderful and I can't wait to be back.Listed in: Cheers, Salut, Prost, L'chaim,…

Went here on Friday and thought it was a great and different place in downtown to hang out. The NO COVER part was a huge plus!
I love the plush couches and the various types of seating available inside. Outside there is also a patio area where people can go and hang out if you don't want to be inside the actual lounge. At first we got one of the individual seats (not the best place to sit if you're with a loved one but good if you don't want to sit too close to the person you're with). The couches on the other hand are a different story (super comfy and a great place to sit and snuggle).
I came on a Friday and they had live jazz that night which was great. Apparently the act normally plays at Yoshi's in Oakland (another spot that I think is great). Lucky for us, no cover is charged at Hedley Club unlike at Yoshi's where I believe I played $20+.
We got the mojitos but unfortunately I didn't think they were that great. The mint tasted a little old and the drink wasn't mixed property. The specialty drinks such as the mojitos tend to run around $10. Beers, I believe, were around $5.
In terms food, if you're there past 10:30ish or so the kitchen is closed so no food. But if you get there earlier, they have a variety of appetizers such as pesto fried calamari and also a good selection of desserts.
There's metered parking out front but if you can't get that, they have a valet as well.
Also like many have mentioned, if you come when a sharks game has just got out, you will find a lot of sharks fans there as well.Listed in: Drinks...Drinks...Drinks. ..

Have you ever read "Franny and Zooey" by JD Salinger ? It's one of my all-time favourite books, and in it is a restaurant called Sickler's. It's where the steaks aren't that thick (thumb and forefinger held an inch apart), and it's snails. In the first section of this book, Franny and her lame boyfriend Lane go to Sickler's before the big game to order drinks and escargot. In my head, this place is sort of like Sicklers, but with jazz and no snails.
So sometimes I put on a dress that's too nice for Trials and come here. I can't order martinis like Franny did at Sickler's (I'm allergic to gin), but I can drink mojitos. They are excellent here. I wonder if they have a chicken sandwich, because I'm going to need one of those, and a maitre d' to rescue me when I pass out.
I love this place. When I'm here, it's 1955 and I'm not myself. But when I leave, I'm back in awful San Jose, and I've got a parking ticket. Shit.Listed in: Stalk me !

What a fabulous place!!!!
Located inside the gorgeous DeAnza Hotel, this lounge is just great. Strong drinks, well designed atmosphere, and a great semi-outdoor, covered section with heatlamps throughout, overhead. It actually feels like you're still inside the hotel, except that they allow smoking out there.
We headed here after dinner at Tobang (review below), and it was a perfect winding down spot. They have live jazz bands playing here at certain times of the evening, also.
Comfortable and warm seating inside with a huge fireplace as the centerpiece - Hedley Club has a cool staff, and interesting patrons - - some hotel guests, but also other locals who like the ambience here.
My night consisted of a Macallan 18, good conversation, and a French gentleman that I don't know giving me a kiss on the cheek. Why is a kiss always more genuine from a Frenchman?
Parking was easy on a Tuesday evening, but I'm told it gets packed here on Sharks' game evenings, and weekends.
Hedley Club is exactly the kind of place I love to make my own, if it weren't so damn FAR from me. -

Los Gatos, CA
My favorite lounge in San Jose. Fun & Unique, with a Early California meets the Arabian Knights vibe to the place.
I love the high ceilings and the great decor. You have a number of places to chose for seating - very comfy couches and lounge chairs. The place has an airy and will lit feel.
This is great stop before/after dinner or before/after a show/game.
Service is good and I like the choice of snacks you can order, particularly the olive dish.
A big highlight is the evening live music. I've seen a a mix of acts, from jazz, swing, early British rock. It's like you're at a private party in someones cool living room, where you can jump up and dance right in front of the band. -

Stopped by last night for dessert, drinks and jazz. Where to start? The drinks weren't bad, fairly standard. The decor reminded me of a villa in southern Spain.
The jazz was good, the Rick Vandivier Group was playing last night. Good instrumental jazz w/ guitar, bass and drums. I think I prefer my jazz with vocals, though. Guess that means I'll have to make a return trip on a Friday.
The desserts were just this side of heaven. Four of us shared the tiramisu and the dolce de meringia (sp?). The tiramisu came in a glass and very different from what we were expecting. Good, though. The dolce was the obvious winner, though, with strawberries mixed into cream with the taste of hazelnut sprinkled in. Definitely something to get again.
Overall, pricey but worth the occasional splurge. The only downside to last night was that there was a wedding party going on outside of the lounge, so we heard a lot of their DJ through the glass.Listed in: Dessert!
