18 reviews for Heavenly Dog
I went to Heavenly Dog after reading many reviews and then meeting Suzy at a dim sum UYE. I find it really hard to get down there from the way west end of the metro spectrum, with both dog and baby in tow, but you know what? It's so very worth it!
When your dog needs a touch up, this is the place to go. If your dog needs an overhaul, this is also the place to go. I generally don't write a review of a place after going just once, but here, I have to make an exception. While my dog is super low maintenance, and I usually am as well, when it comes to what I want to have my dog look and smell like, I turn into a crazed maniac of epic proportion. Use this kind of shampoo, this kind of rinse, this kind of shampoo on this part of her body, no kenneling...This list goes on and on. And, through all of my crazy ass requests, no one at Heavenly Dog flinched and Annika was beautiful and happy, hence I was happy.
Go, and your dog can be beautiful, too!
I have never met Suzy, the owner, and I owe her nothing when I write a review of her shop. That said, Heavenly Dog gets all five stars from me because of what I experienced when I went in this morning.
Suzy was not there, so I still have not met her. The guy that was there was really low-key and when I went in, he set me up with the shampoo and conditioner of my choice and an apron and I picked one of the three showers for Zeus. I took my sweet ass time wetting him down, then lathering him up, then hosing him down, than conditioning him up, then rinsing him down, then drying him off. I took a very long time because I wanted to make sure that he was totally clean. Not once did I ever feel rushed to hurry and finish. The shop is very clean. There were plenty of utensils for washing and drying him. The price was very reasonable.
I have taken dogs to other dog washes before, so I know good from mediocre, and I can say that Zeus will be coming to Heavenly Dog whenever he needs a cleaning.
Luka smells like Eucalyptus!
How great is this place??
You go in, pick the shampoo/conditioner you want, pick the shower, and wash your stinky dog!!
Luka hates baths. He doesn't get it, and he looks at me like I'm about to torture him.
Well, he didn't have too much of a better attitude at Heavenly Dog, BUT, I was able to get him in fairly easy, (sooo much easier than lifting him into the tub), the water pressure and the extra help from my bf had us in and out in no time. We've commited to going here at least a couple times month. We live in SE Aurora, but it's worth the drive.
Just a side note... I SWEAR Luka had a swagger that I've not seen before when we went for our walk at Wash Park. Bitches were wantin' his ass, but he wasn't payin' them no mind...
That eucalyptus works wonders...
Second Experience: I wrote a review a couple of weeks back and my experience can be seen below. My wife and I went back to give it a second shot. I must say that we happy we did. The establishment is very clean, and the attendant was extremely helpful. My 90 pound dog is a pain to wash at home and washing him at Heavenly Dog is a lot easier. We enjoyed washing him there so much we bought 4 washes to be used in the future. Again, we are happy that we gave Heavenly Dog a second chance.
First Experience:
I am a Wash Park resident and just got a 2nd dog that is 90 lbs. I have heard fabulous reviews about Heavenly Dog, and after spending a day in the muddy park with our 2 dogs decided we should give the big one a good cleaning. I walked in to Heavenly Dog, which looks like a very nice establishment, at 4PM, well aware that closing time was 4:30. The person working told me that the last washing started at 4pm. I was told that another patron was coming back to use the last tub and that the other tubs were cleaned so I could not clean my dog. The solution to the problem was to come back on Sunday morning at 10am. I was willing to pay good money to wash my dog at this establishment but I got turned away and ended up having to put my huge dog in the tub. I am willing to try this place again, but may try other local options prior to returning. Moral of the story, don't go any time close to closing time!
Love this place. Took my doggy here for a cleaning and for the first time ever he actually enjoyed his bath!!! They have all kinda of various shampoos and conditioners and the guy was really helpful. Would def trust them if I needed day care.
Bathing my dog Ginger at home is such a chore. First off I have to lift my 70 lbs dog into the bath tube due to the sliding glass doors. Then there is the mess of cleaning my tube before it is acceptable for humans to use. Using Heavenly Dog's facilities is so much better for both Ginger and I. No cleanup afterwards and they provide you with shampoo, conditioner, a towel, and hair dryer. Both Ginger and I look forward to bath time.
My dog hates baths. Hates them. Anytime he sees a hose or a shower nozzle he has a fit. In fact, some mornings, if I turn the shower on for me and open up the door to go grab something out of my bedroom, Zed will run and hide, assuming it's bath time.
I also have the hairiest effing terrier living on earth at this time. I try and keep away the clumps, but he hates being brushed and he hates it when I try and trim out the dreads.
So, grooming tends to play second fiddle to running around like crazy and chewing up stuff.
Finally, I had it the other day. Zed smelled bad. I had heard lots of great things about this place and I had a coupon (yeah money savings!), so in I marched or rather spazzily walked because Zed was having a fit that he was getting a walk in a new area.
I like that they have bath stalls at various heights because, well, I'm pretty freaking short. So I chose the shortest tub and the gentleman working there helped me get all set up.
FYI, Heavenly Dog provides you with shampoo, conditioner, a towel, an industrial waterproof apron, the giant air dryer and various brushes and combs. Oh, and water, duh. But if you are going to want to do some trimming and stuff beforehand, you've got to bring that stuff yourself.
It was really great that everything I could have needed was right at hand, so I could get this job done quickly. After I got Zed done hopped off the platform and was back to his usual, spazzy self.
It will be interesting to see how he reacts the second time we go there since he really didn't know what he was in for when we initially went there.
And yes, I will totally be going back there again.
Fast setup, easy cleaning and little mess (relatively speaking) what more could a dog owner want?
From the second I walked through the front door and was hit by the CLEAN smell, making me think I was a human spa instead of a dog wash, I knew I found the new dog wash for my best friend, Casey! Normally she hates bath time, but the staff of Heavenly Dog put her at ease with yummy treats while we waited. They took my coat, gave me a chair and a magazine, as well as a list of shampoos to choose from. I chose the light coat brigtening one, even though Casey is brindle, because it's made with lavendar and smells GREAT, along with the cherry conditioner. We had to wait a bit, but that's to be expected in such a cool place. When a tub freed up, they cleaned it very well, and then assisted me with my less than enthused victim. Being a boxer/Akita mix, Casey is big and threatening looking to some, but the helper (I never got her name), spoke dog, and wasn't afraid of my sweetie. Once up the sturdy ramp and into the tub, we found the water pressure and temperature to be spot on, the shampoo to be full of lather, but also easy to rinse out, and the conditioner to be awesome! So much hair came out in the tub!!! BUT WAIT! There's more! The chamois they have are incredible! I swear my dog was practically dry from these magic towels, even before we turned the blow dryer on. The blow dryer doesn't get hot, but it blows super hard, blowing all the loose hair out of the dog's coat and all over the shop. And I do mean ALL OVER the shop. I felt terrible but the worker just kept saying, "no, no, that's why you come here!". it takes a while to dry an Akita mix, but it was so worth it! Casey was so soft and fluffy and her coat was super duper shiny!! By the time I finished with the brushes (they have a slew of them at your disposal), the mess I made was all cleaned up by the girl working. She was smiling, talking, and giving out doggie treats the entire time she was sweeping the globs of hair flying off my dog. I never felt so good about making such a huge mess before in my life. This place is da bomb, baby! WOOF WOOF!
Woof woof!
This place is great for all dogs, especially super sensitive like my dog, Sullivan, I've taken him to Petsmart and he really hates it, so I've stopped taking him there.
Dogs can actually scent if a place is like a restaurant, shop, or a place just for animals. Sully really hates Petsmart, just by parking at Petsmart and walking towards the shop he shivers and freezes along the way. Not at Heavenly Dog, we walked in and he was normal, sniffing around, getting familiarized, and Suzy does such a great job with the dog that actually relaxes them.
Sully was so comfortable with the whole environment and I was able to bathe him; now he looks so white (Irish Jack Russell Terrier) and smell really great!
Heavenly Dog is great! Imagine not having to clean every accessory you'd used to bathe your dog, but besides that, sweeping the wet floor, and have to wash an extra towel smelling like a wet dog!
Next time I have to bathe Sully I won't think twice! Heavenly Dog it is!
I think the way a business is a great one starts with the owner(s) & at Heavenly Dog Suzy is the best of the best! She's got such a great heart & it shines through in her business. This place is clean, great people working there, products are fantastic & the prices are very reasonable. Dogs & owners can have a great experience & leave there feeling awesome!
She also has wonderful training available to the K9's who may need a little direction in there life! Nothing can compare to her techniques (not even Pets Mart)! You definitely get your money's worth & guarantee you'll go back for more!

I brought my dogs here today, and had a wonderful experience. Now I have a very hairy akita who sheds a blizzard a few times a year. Not only did Suzy not mind, she helped me get all the hair off my dog in the least messy way. Now there is no unmessy way to do this, but she was awesome. She also clipped my doggie's nails, something I have not done since we had the baby. Anyway, if you have a dog that needs washin' get in here. It's amazing, and I even got a few free dog training tips while I was in there! Wow! thanks again Suzy. I'll be driving across town to you from now on.

Since I first came here, I've gotten to know Suzy pretty well. Talk about dedicated and committed to her work, and more importantly dogs, this gal is in spades. And the shop is really cool too... well laid out and super owner and pet friendly. It feels good taking your pet somewhere that you know you're not the only one that loves them. If that's not five stars I don't know what is.
I had a stanky dog. I have friends who have stanky dogs too. I knew it was time for Ana, so why not have some company? UYE time! Thanks to Suzy S we had a great place to do it. Heavenly Dog is a really cool self wash! I have used several, and really like the set up here. Ana felt completely relaxed, which is a great sign to me. She will tell me whether she likes a place pretty quickly, and I trust her sense. We were given everything we would need for the bath, including brushes, scrubbers, soap and shampoo, plus great advise for making the bath better for everyone. Then I had Ana's nails clipped. This used to be a traumatic event for Ana, the only time she flips out. Suzy was able to make this a nonevent for her!!!! I am SO surprised that I will use this shop just for that reason alone! (OK, it still took both of us, but there was no panting or doggy panic attack involved! Amazing!)
If you have 1. a stanky dog 2. a dog with long nails 3. an obedience issue or any of the above, I suggest you get to Heavenly Dog, and leave feeling blessed!
while I am in Yelp mode I have to mention this awesome little place in Washington Park called Heavenly Dog with a cute motto, Scrub the Devil out of 'em! :o)
Back in Florida my Border Collie Shep was either scrubbed in the tub or hosed off out in the yard. I thought the only other option was to drop him off at the groomers, so what a nice surprise when I come to Denver and find out theres a self service doggy wash. Too cool! You get the choice of what Shampoo and Conditioner you would like for your pet, I think I chose oatmeal, they provide you with an apron to wear so you don't get wet and everything else you will need. Theres handy clips to keep your pooch leashed in the tub area and you even get a shammy to towel dry before you use the industrial quality hair blowers. I like coming here as I can go for a stroll around Wash park or hang at one of the many pet friendly business's around the corner on Gaylord afterwards with a clean and fluffy pooch! Oh and it don't break the bank at $15 a wash or save $10 and get a Frequent Washer card for $50.
Other services also offered are training, walking and grooming. Go check it out and your doggy will appreciate it :o)
So...the original store is a DIY Pet Wash. It's around the corner from Gaylord Street and all you have to do is bring your dog. The friendly cats will supply shampoos, conditioners, brushes, towels, an apron (for you), and even blow dryers to keep your sweet little furry-head of a boop comfortable after his/her foray into the clean. ($15 for one wash or $50 for 4.) It's great because you can have a blast with your little one and then leave the suckers at the store to clean up after you -- just like mom!
They do offer professional grooming services if you aren't the kind of owner that likes to get too intimate with their pet. It's okay. Wet fur freaks me out, too.
At that store, they offer a bunch of obedience classes -- you can definitely find one to suit what you're looking for with group and private classes.
Just around the corner, right on Gaylord Street, the owners have opened up a supply store for pets and it has all of the accoutrement's you'd expect to see including food, treats, toys, and collars. And they have a case of delectable edibles for your pet INCLUDING a black and white cookie. Um. It looked so good, I almost jumped on it.
This is an excellent spot for both do it yourself and professional grooming, and, as an extra plus, offers obedience classes and sells supplies, also. Grooming is midrange pricewise, but top in quality. The supplies sold at the store part of Heavenly Dog tend to be on the premium side- which is great!
There are always smiling faces, both human and canine, coming out of training class. I've chatted with an instructor, who seemed very knowledgeable. I always advise folks that the smaller the business training your dog, the better your chances of individual attention and an experienced instructor are, and Heavenly Dog definitely qualifies for this recommendation.
Great selection of shampoos for every need and in every scent. Dogs walking out look fabulous- ready for their closeup!
We have a smelly dog, the kind of dog that thinks goose poop is the best thing since bacon. She traipses through puddles with sheer abandonment, thinks that lake swimming is the equivalent to a bubble bath and drags her paws through the mud like it's chocolate. She also likes to sniff her butt. In other words, she has issues with hygiene, which is where Heavenly Dog comes into play. She, and we, love this place. The fact that it's two blocks from our house is an added bonus, but even if it weren't just a tug of a leash away, we'd still make the trip (and subsequently endure the farting that seems to always coincide with a car ride). The staff is incredibly friendly, they offer a slew of different (and natural) shampoos, brushes, towels and conditioners to make the do-it-yourself bathing process a breeze and they even have blow dryers. It sparkles like a diamond in terms of cleanliness and you can go on the fly, without making an appointment, which I appreciate. Most of all, I appreciate that my dog comes out smelling better than roses.
i had plans to bring my dog here one day...but it died. irony? later i went back with a new dog and it was indeed heavenly.
