I was looking for just the right type of surprise to gift my older sister with upon her recent visit to Oakland. A facial with some 'extras' came to mind. Heather had been recommended by several clients over the past couple of years, so I thought I'd give her services a shot.
I arranged with Heather ahead about the idea of this being a surprise as well as the time frame that I was looking for. She was accommodating, explained clearly what she thought would work best (as far as which type of service she could provide), and she listened to my concerns that the treatment feel so good that it would really rock my sister's world! She also went into detail about the products she intended to use so that I would feel confident that I was really going to get the most for my money.
The result? My sister was SO "wowed" by Heather's facial that weeks later she's STILL talking about how amazing her skin feels! She's over 60 and spent many years slathered with baby oil on her light, freckled skin under the harsh rays of direct sunlight. She hasn't felt really great about the damage done for a long time now, but a treatment from Heather lifted her spirits - and her looks - that has lasted well beyond the gift I gave her.
Heather really treated my sister well and helped me to bring some big joy into her life that makes me definitely want to use and recommend her services to anyone.

Heather is very a skilled aesthetician. My skin is as good as it was in my '30s thanks to her. She keeps me aprised of new options so that I may have the most optimal customized experience. I have been seeing her for about a decade and never get a facial anywhere else. She doesn't pressure me to buy only her products. She will advise which is the best regimen.

Listen, I know a lot of you won't believe this, but in reality, I'm not all that hot. No, seriously. You guys! SERIOUSLY. I have a team of specialists whose job it is to create the paragon of uberhotness you're used to seeing, and one of them is Heather Johnson.
My tolerance for pretention and snatchism hovers between zero and .000002 (which is why your ex gives me painful rectal itch-- you know who you are), so imagine how awesome Heather must be for me to say that she is FULLY AWESOME. She knows her shit, she's open, honest, friendly, warm, and supercool. I've had both waxing and facials from her for years and she is truly the best. Her waxing is thorough, competent, and gentle (as gentle as it can be), and her facials are as pleasant, welcome, and relaxing as three shots of vodka served to me on a silver tray by a young and shirtless Paul Newman while I watch your ex drop into the rancor pit. Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Now THAT'S living.
You'll love Heather, and perhaps you will even emerge as hot as I am. I mean, not really, but I'm just trying to be nice. -

I would highly recommend Heather Johnson for all your waxing needs. I've been going to see her for almost a year and I don't plan on going anywhere else as long as I'm living in the East Bay.
Waxing will never be fun, but Heather's professionalism and gentleness make the experience as painless as possible. Her studio is spotlessly clean and smells nice and I love the location - right near the Rockridge BART - so you can check out all of the great College Ave boutiques when you're done! -

I went to see Heather in April 2011 before my wedding. I got a facial and added microdermabrasion. I am 39 and my face has never felt smoother and more hydrated. After those amazing results, I will continue to see Heather to keep my skin in great shape. The Valmont products are amazing. I no longer have dry flakes and patchy dry skin. If you are considering a facial, please visit Heather...although you may become addicted too!

Sadly I have not been able to see Heather for a long while now due to budget constraints. When I did first see Heather my skin was a mess. Her skilled hands and plethora of skincare weapons helped my face dramatically along with some lifestyle changes. I saw her bi-monthly for a year.
Facials are a luxury and they don't come cheap, if you're going to pay someone to mess with your window to the world they better know what they're doing, and that is definitely Heather.
She is informed, precise and very helpful. I loved some of the products she suggested to me and others not so much but she never pressured me into buying anything. Since I'm still not able to afford the luxury again I thought I'd yelp her up but it looks like I'm not the only one who loved Heather! -

Heather is amazing...I've been getting facials from her since 2005 and am convinced that I would not have nearly as lovely skin without her! She's really good at problem solving skin issues, offers great advice and can get her hands on some really fabulous skin products. Heather offers a wonderful relaxing experience. She focuses on the subtle things that all add up to nirvana! Warm towels scented with lavender, amazing neck and head massage, the MOST comfy robes and blankets. If you go see her once, you're going to be with her forever (or for as long as she's willing to do what she does). Three last words of advice: Valmont DNA Serum.

I've been seeing Heather for my eyebrows for about six years now and it's definitely worth the price. $25 a month for that kind of care is totally fine by me. She's really careful and pays attention to exactly what you want - not the kind of place that will take off your whole brow. And she puts some nice smelling oil on afterwards to help with the pain, which isn't very bad anyway. Heather is gentle and skilled. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Heather is the best.Not only is she a nice person and very down to earth,this girl knows her stuff.Heather gives a fantastic facial! Thorough, yet relaxing.Heather is also a wealth knowledge for direction and recommendation for skin care without being pushy.Heather is also a skilled waxer!Very gentle and she has a good eye for your arch.My arch is very important to me.:)Go see Heather but leave time to park,shop and eat.

i've gone to heather for years, since before she opened her own studio! she's awesome, i actually look forward to catching up with her every 5 weeks or so. she's the most knowledgable waxer i have ever been to, it's definitely raised my standards super high.
good luck getting an appt though, i schedule mine over a month in advance just to get in the calendar :) -

I found Heather on citysearch a long time ago. I am very picky about who I see for brow waxing (after a traumatic experience in my early days that left me looking like a bad drag queen) and Heather is the best. She is professional, kind and understands how to make you look good! I have also had a facial with her and it is heavenly. Enjoy!

Heather is magical. Really. She was highly recommended to me by my hairstylist (another amazing professional) and words really can't express how wonderful her treatments are.
As others have mentioned, Heather is professional, warm and friendly. The magic in her facials are her hands. She has studied accupressure so her facials are like massages for your face (I'm so spoiled by her treatments that I am STILL searching for a massage therapist who has that same touch she has). It's so amazing and peaceful spending time with her. I visited her regularly during my pregnancy and not only did she educate me on the changes in my skin, but also made sure that I was always comfortable- especially in my 3rd trimester. I really appreciate artisans who are excellent in their crafts and Heather is one of those people.
The products she offers are a wide range in prices and she NEVER pushes them on you. If asked she'll provide a good range of offerings.
Heather is truly wonderful person, I recommend her facials highly! -

I've seen Heather for eyebrow waxing. My brows were in rough shape when I met her. I tend to over-tweeze and tweeze asymmetrically, and being half-Portuguese my brows quickly can become overgrown, so previous aestheticians made my brows too thin. Once I found Heather, I haven't gone to anyone else since. I often get compliments on my brows, even from other beauty professionals like hairstylists. I asked Heather to shape my brows in a way that matched my bone structure. Some growing out time was required to fill-in part of my brow, but in each early visit, she whipped my brows back into shape. Now I go to her for maintenance. I can't keep my brows as well as she does. To top it off, Heather's got a great personality and a gentle touch. She makes each visit very comfortable. She's very popular and works partial weeks, so you will have to book any appointments in advance. Still I've been able to reschedule with good results. Some day I'll have to try one of her facials!
