A guy eats at a fancy restaurant with a beautiful woman...
The fancy restaurant is Hearthstone Restaurant, and the beautiful woman is my wife. We went on a trip for our 1 year wedding anniversary to beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado. We stayed at their #1 lodge (according to TripAdvisor), so it was only fitting that we eat at their #1 restaurant (according to TripAdvisor). Placing a reservation was easy, especially when using the Yelp app!
The restaurant is an old Victorian-style house, with an amazing view of the mountains. Climbing the stairs allows you to appreciate the history of this house. We decided to take a few pictures of us with the mountain view in the background. Such a beautiful view from the restaurant!
The hostess was very nice and remembered that we were the couple celebrating our anniversary. We were sat at one of the tables closest to the windows facing the same breath-taking mountain view. Our waitress introduced herself and was very knowledgable with the menu. She gave us all the time we needed, acknowledging our anniversary with two glasses of champagne on the house!
We started off with the crab cakes. A delicious combination of pan-seared blue crab, mixed greens, avocado and a ginger citrus vinaigrette. I've had crab cakes on the occassion at other restaurants, but these were very well cooked and the presentation on the plate was very appealling.
Our entrees were up next. My wife ordered the Colorado lamb, which was lamb medallions still on the bone. It was on a bed of spinach and a goat cheese cream with a cherry port wine sauce to top it all off. Very well presented on the plate and cooked to her liking. I ordered the center cut filet mignon, an eight ounce natural black angus tenderloin with a malbec demi glace. It was situated on top of yukon gold anna potatoes, braised balsamic shallots, crispy onions and sauteed garlic spinach.
We couldn't do desert (too much good food), but their desert menu did look very tempting, especially their "cake & shake" combo.
Overall, the service and the food were perfect. The views were amazing and the memories of eating at this restaurant will remain with us forever. A great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary! We will be back in Breckenridge next year and will definitely be looking to dine at Hearthstone again. -

*Warning: this review is for their customer service via the phone!*
My brother in law was going to visit Breckenridge with his girlfriend over the holidays, so the husband and I gave them a gift certificate for Hearthstone. I called and ordered the gift certificate, and the manager was very friendly. But I messed up and gave them an old address... in Hawaii. So it wasn't forwarded in time for their trip. I called back, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, telling me they'd noted the gift certificate on his reservation and would just give him the credit in person. But then BIL had to reschedule the reservation, so I had to call back again. And Hearthstone accommodated our mixup once again. That makes three obnoxious phones calls made by me, and three easy-going, helpful responses by Hearthstone. -

Dinner at renowned restaurant in an old Victorian house, in Breckenridge- check. I've got to say, the aura of the place is pretty cool. The foyer is pretty small and difficult to navigate when it's busy. Bonus points for the coat tree.
We had a res and were whisked away to our table in one of the downstairs dining rooms. Prompt service ensued with water glasses filled and wine recommendations made. Upon hearing the waiter explain the dinner special of lamb with a risotto cake, my mind was made up.
Some bread comes out w/ a tub of butter while waiting for the entrees. Yes, butter to bread ratio of 10:1. The lamb lollipops a perfect medium rare. This was a perfect plate of food, the risotto cake accompanies oh so perfectly. Also tried the hangar steak with roasted potatoes and would have been happy with it as well. I would pass on the creme brulee, strange flavor that we couldn't pinpoint and the temperature of it seemed off. I'm going with the bread pudding next time.
You should check out Hearthstone if you got an extra few hundred bucks- you'll leave happy. -

One of the better meals in recent memory. Probably the best out of our meals at Vail/Breck.
Starting bread was good - a tomato base. Delicious with the butter which thankfully spread (I dislike cold butter that won't spread... what a pain).
Appetizers:
Loved loved the crispy lobster. Had it the last time we came here and was one of the main reasons why we came back.
Ahi tuna - good, but we've had better. Flavor was interesting - different from your usual wasabi/soy sauce. Guess I'm a creature of habit because I did not like it that much. That being said, I can imagine someone really loving it.
Main:
Btw, all pieces of protein that I saw were HUGE. We're talking filet mignons the size of a large man's fist and salmon that was about 1 lb!!
What we actually ordered:
Elk - a great standby. I would have been happy with half the portion, but this just made me doubly happy. Breading is delicious. Loved the potatoes that came with it. Carrots were good too.
Lamb- a super-star. This dish took the cake. Perfectly Medium rare. 5 separate ribs attached to this sucker. Huckleberry sauce perfection! Goat cheese risotto was delicious. Great flavor. Slightly undercooked so it was a little crunchy, but I did not mind.
Dessert:
Creme Brulee - one of the finer versions. Perfect crust that took some effort to get through.
Would come here again and again. -

A fancy, classy and tasty restaurant in Breckenridge.
The presentation of the food is high-end, the taste of their dishes is everything but average homemade.
If you want to challenge your tastebuds with a combination of flavors, and the right amount of food serving on your plate, this is the place to go. You will feel like you are eating at a European restaurant in the middle of beautiful Rocky Mountains, and of course, the price of the meal will be high-end as well, but quite worth the splurge. -

This place is one of the classic joints of Breckenridge. Very romantic. We enjoyed a pre-Christmas dinner that well served by an attentive staff. There is a nice wine list that covers a good range of reds and whites at decent prices. This is a restaurant that should not be missed if you are into fine mountain dining.

This is a restaurant with a confused sense of identity. It is pricey but casual, serves fancy entrees like lamb and ginger seared scallops, but has weird 'presents' wrapped and hung on the walls. It kind of looks like a haunted mansion. It is located conveniently and had plenty of parking spots out front. Service was ok, very friendly but they didn't pour our wine after the first glass and the dishes came out a little too quickly. Crab cakes were good. Tuna special was very good, but the scallops were a little underwhelming. The ginger sauce was a nice combo with the scallop taste, but the basmati coconut rice was weird with the scallops and not great. The creme brulee was ok, the cream a little too dense and cold. Definitely not in the top 10 creme brulees we've tried. Wine selection was alright. I think this place has good food, cooked well, but tries a little too hard to be inventive. I love new combinations of flavors but they must be done right.
Oh and we paid $140. -

What a charming place. It is off the main street but well worth it. I had the Filet mignon with malbec reduction, simply wonderful. My wife had the organic planked salmon and she thought it was great. Small but decent wine selection, great ambience and service was very good. Will come again.

My Fiance and I went here while on a ski trip. Yes, it is more expensive than Mexican or burgers, but prices are clearly listed on their menu in the entry way. If you are looking for an excellent dining experience, friendly, professional staff, a quiet atmosphere (we were upstairs in the back, so we had a very quiet evening), and an overall great experience try the Hearthstone. The fish and prime rib were superb!

I went into Hearthstone on a Thursday night by myself to enjoy a great meal. The host asked me politely if I was ok with being seated at the bar and I gladly accepted as the restaurant was very busy. The restaurant is situated in an old Victorian house, which makes it very unique and gives it its own style.
I was greeted at the bar by Maia (?) who quickly attend to me and took me through the menu. They are currently running a 3 course special for $29 and I decided to go with that as they were some tasty selections to choose from. I started with a wild boar sausage with a glass of Pinot Noir followed by a cream of asparagus-lemon soup with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and finished with a Moroccan style braised lamb shank with fingerling potatoes in a cream sauce and fresh spinach along with another glass of Pinot Noir. I was reluctant on going with the 3 course deal, but the portion sizes were perfect and I did not have room for dessert, unfortunately.
The experience was great and just what I needed to get me through a very long and stressful week. Special thanks goes to the bartender who was great and took care of me. -

I gave this restaurant 3 stars based on my wife's dinner (trout stuffed with crab meat), which was excellent, and the location. When I asked her to rate this place she gave it four stars. The location is very nice, worthy of 5 stars: beautiful old Victorian house in downtown Breckenridge overlooking the mountains, very nice outdoor seating area. The staff was great too, probably 4 or 5 stars.
OK, now for the not-so-great. My wife had to add a little salt to her trout. We very rarely need to add salt to restaurant food but a pinch was all the trout needed. I had the elk: the portion was surprisingly larger than I expected. However, it lacked flavor. My wife agreed that the elk tasted more like pork. I've had elk many times before and it can be distinctly flavorful; this wasn't. The accompanying carrots lacked flavor as well; honestly, if I tasted them blindly I might not be able to tell you they were carrots (other than the size & texture).
This is summer in Breckenridge and today was warm. Our table was upstairs in the old house and it was pretty warm when we arrived around 6:30pm. No big deal, but that high room temperature made my red wine unacceptably warm. I asked to have my second glass chilled before pouring the wine and it was fine. Now some may say I am being finicky but red wine should not be served at 80+ degrees in a fine restaurant.
One last note about the ambiance: the upstairs dining room shares space with the bar. That's no big deal, but the music was like bar music and didn't suit the surroundings. I liked the music, it wasn't offensive at all; it just wasn't right for old the Victorian house.
Would I go back? Yeah, probably after I had tried all the other restaurants in Breckenridge first. Should you go? Definitely! It's good enough that you should experience it and decide for yourself. Should this place have the #1 Yelp rating of Breckenridge restaurants? Not IMHO. I enjoyed Modis better. -
Review from Wendy R.
The Hearthstone Restaurant is located just a block or two off Main Street and is set in a gorgeous 120 year-old Victorian house.
We started with the crab cakes, which were amazing and the beef wellington, which we glossed over has blue cheese in it - which we weren't thrilled with, but that was really our fault and not the restaurant's.
Myself and a friend ordered the Idaho trout stuffed with crab and it was delicious! Another had the Ginger Sea Scallops and they were also really good.
Great ambiance, attentive, but not hovering service and amazing food. Definitely want to go again! -

A group of us in town for an event went here for dinner. Beautiful old Victorian style house converted into a restaurant. Rumor has that it used to be a brothel.
Among us all we ordered a lot of different dishes, including elk, prime rib, fish. Everyone proclaimed it excellent. My elk was fantastic, tender and medium rare with a nice spiced crust. Along with great mashed potatoes and baby carrots. I also ordered a side of green beans that were crisp and fabulous.
The desserts were off the hook. We all shared. Creme Brûlée, berry tart, chocolate decadence cake, banana split. Yum. It is one of the most expensive places in town, but the food and service are top notch. -

Everything was excellent. We had one issue that I will list at the bottom, but it did not change my review. (The review is long but I'm covering everything. That's how strongly I feel.)
The restaurant is located in an old Victorian home and is beautifully renovated.
The menu is only 2 pages. Starters and entrees (desserts seperate). The menu is small and starters range 8-14 while entrees range 21-38.
Grapefruit juice was very good. We started with ceaser and spinach salads ($9, Great dressings). For dinner, we had the blackberry elk, ginger sea scallops, and filet with 4oz lobster. All items and their sides were made to perfection, med-rare elk and med-well filet (oy!), and the scallops were perfectly tender and flavorful. I would definately come back. Dinner will run you ~$50/person with a drink, entree, and tip (no booze).
The issue: We found a hair in one of our salads (it's a restaurant, it happens). We told our server, who immediately took it away, apologized, and got us a manager. The manager apologized and was very sincere and genuine with the numerous apologies he gave us. They comp'd the salad and offered us all dessert. By the time we finished entrees, we were full and I asked him if we could skip dessert and maybe comp another one of the $9 salads. He instead offered to comp the entree of the person who had the hair. A filet mignon + lobster that was +$40. This is how a good restaurant takes care of their guests and I will definately come back. -

Well, this is really not my review. It's based on my friend's recent visit, but since I am eager to try this place next time I visit Breck, I wanted to put it on my profile for future reference.
Anyways, my friend had a fantastic dinner with his wife. He said the steak and the service were outstanding. Give the place five stars he said. So here it is. -

We ate our wedding night dinner at Hearthstone- just the two of us. You can say my expectations were pretty high.
First our waiter- knowledgeable about the food, polite, and attentive. He really helped make our experience great.
We ordered an '08 bottle of Chilean cab, and thought it was very good. Somewhat full bodied for around $30, which is rare at such a high end restaurant. They had many options in the lower price end, $20 to $40, which is always nice to not be stuck with only three choices. Their wine list is extensive, so I'm glad we decided fairly quickly.
Our starter was the grilled cheese trio (tiny, about two bites worth per sandwich, but tasty) and tomato "soup." The waiter warned us that it wasn't really a soup, but rather a dipping sauce. I found the sauce to be a bit too sweet, but the grilled cheese were great. Bread and garlic crisps were also provided.
We then ordered the fillet Mignon in a malbec demi glace and Idaho trout with stuffed crab in a tarragon butter sauce. My mouth is watering still thinking about it. They graciously substituted the Yukon mashers with some fingerling potatoes that were simmered in a goat cheese sauce. YUM. The dinner was the most well prepared and presented that I had devoured in a long time.
Downside to the restaurant? I'm not a fan of Victorian decor. It's a classic Victorian home that the restaurant is situated in, so it fits, but I found the lace and trim a bit stuffy to the restaurants I usually frequent.
There were patrons in t-shirts, so it's nice to know they don't take their restaurant too seriously. -

I generally steer clear of crab cakes because I don't like deep fried dishes and most are so. These are seared blue crab. Tasty. Filet was excellent as were the sides (we subbed the sides from the prime rib (they had run out of prime rib)). I did not order desserts, but my fellow diners did. The chocolate desserts are very good. I'd skip the bread pudding.
Service was good. The setting itself is a bit odd - a house that could use some updating. But overall a great meal. -

The Hearthstone Restaurant is situated in an old Victorian home. It is a charming local with pretty views of the locale mountains from each table.
The American cuisine is delicious and offers something for everyone. I had the cedar grilled salmon filet which was grilled to perfection- moist and tasty. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect compliments to the salmon. Other members of the party ordered the filet- grilled as they desired, and the crab stuffed trout for a perfect taste of Colorado.
The Hearthstone Restaurant is great for comfort food after a day spent outdoors... -
Review from Drew Z.
Very dated interior but cool looking patio. Good service and above average food. We saw that this restuarnat was rated as one of the best in Breck. I think that might be overselling it a little but I do have to admit the service was some of the best we had while there. I wish we would have sat outside because the inside (at least where we were upstairs) felt like I was in someone's grandparents house.

Initially I would have given this restaurant three or four stars, but I was a little insulted when they cancelled my reservation on open table when we clearly did have dinner there.
We arrived early after snowboarding in breckenridge cause we were famished. I initially used open table earlier that day to book a reservation at 5pm. We arrived at 445pm. They sat us up at the bar with the happy hour menu and said we can order from the happy hour menu, thus we did. We had a couple of drinks and three of the items from the happy hour menu and a salad from the main menu.
Food was ok, nothing spectacular and service was good, however that changed when I received an email that stated that our reservation was cancelled. Was it because we didn't have the main entrees from the menu? We were full off the happy hour menu and didn't feel the need to order anymore food. I don't know. -

We went here again after being contacted by the manager about my review and it was major disappointment again!
The bread they brought us was cold, chewy, and the butter was unspreadable. The scallops were over cooked and rubbery. I found 2 pin bones in the first two bites of my salmon so I sent it back. Not to mention the food just looked sloped on my plate. You eat with your eyes first.
My husband got the elk with blackberry sauce and it was the only decent thing that we got all night, I ended up helping him with it. We ordered the lemon curd tart, another let down.
Our table had a beautiful view of the mountain and the service was way better this time!
I was really hoping to have a better review to write but the execution of the food was poor.
Again we ended up at Ember for another wonderful experience!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Our experience at Hearthstone was definitely memorable and I agree with other reviewers, it is one of the best dining options in Breckenridge. We started our night on the patio with their happy hour - the ginger mojito was addictive and the tomato soup/grilled cheese appetizer although it didn't entirely deliver on expectations was delightful and innovative.
Once we moved inside (it gets chilly at night in the summer!) the interior was a little more formal and didn't quite fit the feel of the restaurant or the menu but that was ok because the service and food were wonderful! After having appetizers, all I ordered was the Olathe sweet corn soup and I never knew something that simple, could taste that divine. My husband ordered the prairie raised chicken breast that was mouco camembert stuffed, smoked bing cherry demi, goat cheese with barley risotto and brussel sprouts and it was addictively good - we highly recommend it. -

Went here for our engagement dinner and everything was perfect from our scallops for our app to my elk ,my fiances prime rib and our wonderful dessert! All of this was topped off by the most amazing service by our waitress Noel! Usually food like
this comes with snooty atmosphere and stuffy service but none of that was found here! -

We went to the Hearthstone to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had always wanted to try this restaurant, but were waiting for a really special occasion since it's an upscale experience. When we arrived, we were seated upstairs in a cozy attic type area. The restaurant is in an old Victorian, and the ambience is really delightful. They promptly brought us complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary, which was a perfect touch. And, our waitress was very friendly and helpful.
That said, I will most likely never return to the Hearthstone, because the food is mediocre at best. Given that our meal was $115 for two, you would expect heaven on a plate. This was more like Country Buffet quality. The Caesar salad was limp and tasteless. I think I emptied out the salt shaker to get just a hint of some spice or flavor. I ordered the prime rib dinner, which is supposed to be their specialty. I asked for rare, but it came out barely pink. It comes with a couple of sides, potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach, which were just okay and about as devoid of flavor as the Caesar salad.
Our waitress returned about 10 minutes after the food arrived (apologizing for her delay in doing so) to ask how the temperature of the meat was. I said, "This isn't exactly rare." She said, "Yes, I know, we tried to get you as rare a piece as we could, but with a roast that's been on for a long time, it's usually cooked too much to get rare." Fair enough...but this is the Hearthstone, and presumably one of the finest restaurants in Breckenridge. You don't serve $30 prime rib without making sure the temperature is just right. If you are aware that you will not meet the customer's expectation of rare, you come out and say, "I'm sorry, we won't have rare prime rib for you tonight. Is medium okay? If not, could we serve you filet instead?" The prime rib was very tasteless, and I ended up taking half of it home for my dog.
Given that the best thing about this dinner was the bread basket, I'm pretty disappointed. I was hoping for a lot more. The two stars are based on essentially on the ambience...it is truly a darling location. For far superior food and much more reasonable prices, I will absolutely return to Modis for any future special occasion. -
Review from Rachel L.
What an incredible evening! I was recently invited to vacation in Breck with my mother. Having heard from yelpers and locals alike that this was a MUST try, I decided this would be the ultimate time to check this place off my list. Now that I've eaten here, I completely agree with the rave reviews. It was loved by the whole gang.
The ambiance is perfect for a romantic evening, a gathering of friends, or a family re-union. My mother "oo"-ed and "ah"-ed over the setting.
Topping the stunning Victorian house was the service. My server, Megan, was incredibly knowledgeable, and was eager to share her opinion. She was totally helpful and attentive.
For appetizers, we indulged in the chile relleno [best one I've EVER had] and the venision sausage, which was an evening special. I enjoyed both, although I preferred the former over the latter. [ I think if I hadn't recently eaten at Biker Jim's in Denver, I would have adored the sausage. But, I must say, Biker Jim really knows how to make a gourmet sausage.]
We then ordered the lamb special of the evening and the elk. The elk was out-of-this-world wonderful - so good it could make all the hairs on your body stand on edge!!! I felt, however, that the lamb lacked seasoning, and was a little on the fatty side. It was pretty disappointing, since I really love lamb.
For dessert, the creme brulee and the huckleberry bread pudding. These were both delectable.
Overall, a great meal in a resort town. I found the food to be inconsistent, but the new world wine, great service, and environment really made the evening fantastic. I would dine here again without question - although I'd be sure to be careful what I might order. -

My favorite Breckenridge restaurant without question...I wrote a review a while ago but apparently it is under the wrong listing. Anyway, to begin, I have never had a bad meal at Hearthstone so just go with your taste-buds and you will be happy. As appetizers, the fried lobster tail and the gnocchi are both heavenly and can easily be split (although you may regret that after a bite).
As far as entrees go, the ginger encrusted orange seared sea scallops are incredible and very rich. I seriously crave them and they are almost like dessert. My brother and Dad swear by the tuna with wasabi sauce but you really have to like wasabi. For dessert, they use to have a white chocolate raspberry bread pudding that was divine. Last time they were not making it so we had the walnut creme brulee and it was beautiful.
I dream of Hearthstone when I am stuck in the flatlands. The Victorian decor is more like a whore house, but hey, it is all part of the experience. Superb restaurant in a low key mountain town, so dressing up is not a requirement.Listed in: Best Dining Countrywide

This place is a Breckenridge institution that never disappoints. Set just a bock off of Main Street in an old Victorian House, Hearthstone is the perfect place for a date, dinner with friends apres ski or a hot after-dinner drink at the bar. A perfect blend of fireside comfort and casual elegance if that's even a real term. At first the place seemed a bit "dressy" for our crew who had just wrapped up a day on the slopes, but this is Colorado and they welcome anyone and everyone.
The staff is 5-star and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Executive Chef even took a minute out of a Friday night rush to say hello to our table (per a request from one of my friends). His passion for life was as enjoyable as his passion for the food that comes out of that little kitchen.
We started out with their Baked Brie, Chile Relleno(
colorado goat cheese; tomatillo-lime salsa; roasted serrano honey tomato sauce) & Prosciutto Wrapped Scallops and each one was better than the next. The Chile Relleno was out of this world with such a wonderful blend of smokeyness, goat cheese and pure yummyness.
Earlier in the day we were snowboarding and the guide said that Hearthstone's "signature dish" is their Blackberry Elk. I've never had Elk before in my life so I had to give it a try. This dish, was HANDS DOWN the best I've ever had out at a restaurant. The Elk was so incredibly tender and it was lightly crusted in a garlic granola that just added bliss to heaven! We also had the Crispy Polenta and the Buffalo Ravioli. The Polenta far exceeded our expectations with a moist texture accompanied with mushrooms and manchego cheese. The ravioli was probably a 5-star dish in any other restaurant but it was a clear #3 for all of us.
I would go back here again and again and again... if it was a little less expensive. It was a bit pricey but worth every single last penny so don't sleep!Listed in: In My Travels

I used to work at the Hearthstone when I lived in Breckenridge. I have tried almost everything there, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a single thing. It is heavenly and I dream about it regularly.
Things to try include the lobster tail appetizer, the brie en croute with huckleberry jelly and strawberries in balsamic vin., and if they're still making it (maybe in the fall?) butternut squash soup. Then, for dinner, the bestest bestest things ever are the wasabi tuna and the ginger orange sea scallops. Those top my list for the most delicious entrees I have ever eaten, anywhere. I am for real about that part, anywhere. If you have room after dinner for the bread pudding, it is amazing. And I know my bread pudding! If you go for happy hour with a group, try to sit in the big round table in the bar upstairs. You will be sitting in a wrap-around window with a head-on view of the ski slopes and the blue sky, and it will be wonderful. Happy Hearthstoning! -

I expected this to be a great restaurant. It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't a five star place like other people are saying.
The website makes the place, especially the presentation of the food, very elegant. The place itself, an old victorian home, is extravagantly decorated. We sat upstairs and it was nice but I wouldn't say it was "romantic".
The food, however, wasn't extravagantly presented in the least. It looked pretty ordinary. We started with the crispy lobster (really tasty) and had the special for the day - homemade sausage with carmelized onions (pretty good). For our entrees we had the the chicken stuffed with camembert, but when I cut it open this thin liquid poured out and then the chicken was empty. The sides were better than the chicken itself. MBH had the new york steak. It was flavorful but overcooked. Again the sides were better than the steak.
The menu on the web has different descriptions than I recall. I think every second dish was something-demi. Not sure if they were trying to impress us with their French but how hard is it to make a demi-glace? Gave me the impression that everything came from the same unexciting demi base.
I almost feel like giving it two stars but relatively it wasn't THAT bad. I'd check out other higher-end places in Breck before going back. -

We went here for our 5th wedding anniversary celebration and had a great time. My husband and I both have food restrictions (he has Celiac and is gluten-free and I am dairy free due to an allergy) and they were very accommodating. There were not a ton of options for myself but there rarely are at restaurants so I was not too upset about that. They did have a full gluten-free menu and options for my husband which was great. We started with the GF scallops wrapped in prosciutto for a starter and it was delicious. For entrees, he had the GF elk and I had the prime rib and both were awesome. He then had the GF Banana Split for dessert and he liked it. No dairy-free desserts for me but there rarely are at restaurants so no skin off my back. All in all it was worth the money ($122 for app, 2 entrees, drink and dessert for hubby) and we will be back for another special occasion.

i think this is the best dining option in Breckenridge! We tried a few other "fine" dining places and they were overpriced and the decor was horrible... i know the town is a laid back but still. Hearthstone is beautiful! i loved everything about it.
We had the lobster and scallops for apps... the lobster was good, maybe a better tempura batter it was a little too hard.
I tried the rack of lamb special and it was perfection! My mom had a filet and again... perfection! I highly recommend this establishment...you def get what you pay for~ -

Hearthstone was amazing! My first trip up to the mountains from San Francisco! It was my Boyfriend's birthday and I made last minute reservations through http://opentable.com. We had a great meal, he ordered ELK!! Best thing on the menu. I had the special Lamb Shank, not bad. We were the last one to be seated and they didn't rush us at all. We had the dinning room to ourselves and the service was super sweet. We had a little bet to see if people live here or commute to work from a small town. When we asked our server, Jamie, she said that she lives here in town. If you can make room for the pecan creme brulee. Perfect touch at the end of the night.
I'd go back, it's a very cute town and so romantic. The snow was falling and it just felt like Christmas in MARCH!
TRY the ELK! My next try when I'm back at Breckenridge will be Blue River Bistro. -

An absolutely enchanting evening! Highly recommended!!
We went here for our last dinner in Breckenridge and had a fantastic time. Our server (Rick) was very pleasant and funny without being overboard. We sat outside on one of the levels of the front patio and enjoyed the gorgeous panoramic views.
The menu was mouthwatering - I had a hard time committing to my choices as I really wanted to try just about everything! In the end, my friend and I ended up sharing two of the specials:
We started with the ahi tuna ceviche appetizer: ahi grade tuna ceviche served in a martini glass with fanned avocado slices and jicama chips. Beautiful and very tasty!
Then, we each had a side spinach salad which came with walnuts and the house tangerine-thyme vinaigrette - this was so simple yet amazing! I loved it...the dressing was superb.
Next, we split the venison special: two venison medallions cooked medium-rare, mashed sweet potatoes, sauteed snap peas and a ginger tomato coulis. It was simply delicious. The dish was served for us on two separate plates without any extra charges!!! The presentation was beautiful too...
Finally, the dessert menu rolled around and we ordered the triple chocolate decadence and creme brulee for sharing (I only had a bite of the chocolate decadence and it was amazing, but heard great things about the creme brulee). For my personal dessert I got a cappuccino with a shot of Baileys and it was perfect.
We all had several glasses of wine and many of them were recommendations we got from Rick, our waiter. I had the Shiraz and it was great!
I highly recommend Hearthstone as a nice (romantic) dinner...it was simply flawless! -

Very nice place that kinda of takes you back to the older days of Breckenridge. It's a tad on the expensive side but the food is very good.

Food was great. We have eaten out at several restaurants during our stay in breckenridge. I can say hands down that this one was the best. Service was amazing.

The grilled pizza is an excellent starter. Everything we had here was superb. We had a large party and pretty much covered the whole menu. I had a taste of everything and it was all great, but the lamb and elk dishes were mind-blowing.
