I have a love-hate relationship with Heartbreak Hill. It's awesome cause it represents when the Boston Marathon course starts to get consistently pretty, but it sucks cause it comes at mile 21 when yr leg muscles are battered from all of the downhills and yr glycogen has run out.

According to Wikipedia, the nickname "Heartbreak Hill" originated with an event in the 1936 race. On this stretch, defending champion John A. Kelley caught race leader Ellison "Tarzan" Brown, giving Brown a consolatory pat on the shoulder as he passed. His competitive drive apparently stoked by this gesture, Tarzan Brown rallied, pulled away from Kelley, and went on to win--in the words of Boston Globe reporter Jerry Nason, "breaking Kelley's heart."

You think you're so tough, Heartbreak Hill.  Sure, you beat me down my first two years running the Boston Marathon, but the third time was the charm.  I kicked your ass. So there.
