Superfoods, juices, coffee, tea, snacks and light lunches.... I am SO psyched this place just opened. I live *really* nearby and it's fab to have this as a new option. Plus it just looks like a cool lounge space and gets amazing light -- it feels bright and lush and happy.

I can't believe it took me so long to stop in... I think it is because from the street Healeo looks so clinical inside and you don't see all the products and seating... Saved by twitter and being sick... My first visit here was because they tweeted they had homemade Potato Leek soup and I was feeling crappy and wanted a quick fix during the downpour of early October...

My order was a bowl of leek soup and hemp ice cream (which I purchased with a free coupon I picked up at my chiropractor). I could tell my order slightly confused the counter staff because she kept inquiring what order I wanted them in, and I stated soup first and that it all was to-go. I was sick and she had to deal with my randomness. I received a "superfood" topping with my hemp ice cream and choose strawberries.

The hemp ice cream had a nutty flavor to it- almost peanut like but not quite. The cup had a lot of ice cream and lasted the whole time I was frantically searching for parking- for what seemed liked forever- on First Hill. The soup had carrot slices and large pieces of greens floating in it. The soup base was finely pureed. The flavor was homey and excellent. The to-go bowl was a medium sized serving.

The space of Healeo is warm and bright white. They have WiFi, and they open early and close late. Lots of counter high chair style seating and many options for drinking and eating. The staff was knowledgeable, and helped me navigate their menu in a way that prepared me for my next visit and trying out their smoothies.

FYI's~
* Smoothies run about $5 and come in many alternate bases- almond milk- fruit based- hemp- etc
* There are smoothie specials on Sunday
* They offer a frequent visitor reward card that tallies money spent
* There is a few food bars to choose from in addition to a small to go section of raw food (desserts, mains, salads) and packaged nuts
* Lots of supplements and supplies for aiding health
* Higher up on the money scale but the ingredients- purchased items- and overall experience make you not think twice about it

What's not to love?

Opened by a fellow high school alum. Employs one of my favorite people. Serves all the crazy stuff I love (kale crackers, raw apple pie, yes please).

Yeah, it's a little pricey but the folks are super friendly and know their stuff. We're not in that hood all the time but we will be now!

Trendy. Vegan friendly. tea n' juice smoothies with fresh fruit! I think I found my inner dwelling in the form of this little spot. Lovely little place to sit and read while soaking up some of the healthful fresh smoothies. They also have a (vegan friendly) Hemp ice cream that is seriously worth every nickel, dime, and penny.
Staff is friendly and willing to customize your drink (i'm allergic to nuts) so I opted to have fresh fruit thrown in instead.
This place is not to missed by the vegan and non-veg!

Everyone gets treated like royalty in this place. As soon as we came in, two staffers were moving tables together for us so we could sit more "romantically" haha. Then they were on hands and knees adjusting the table so it didn't wobble. Then came our teas. We got earl grey cream and also carmelized pear. Awesome and of course bottomless. I thought the earl grey cream was just excellent especially if you're an earl grey drinker. You'll have to try this. Also got a shot of veggie/apple juice free. Today the soups were potato leek or corn soup. Both great though I preferred the corn one myself. These folks define customer service. Oh and the bathrooms -- spotless and beautifully decorated. Can't say enough about the people here.

Vegan hemp soft serve...with crazy toppings like kiwi berries? It makes me so happy to see little kids (who could go to junk Baskin Robins) ordering the dairy free hemp soft serve with healthy berries and freaking out, cause it's so good. I prefer the chocolate. The acai bowl is great and reminds me of this place I go to in Boulder CO which has no rival in Seattle at all. I haven't tried the other smoothies too much, but the almond one is so great.

They also have a small but really great selection of teas. I'm hooked on the Chocolate Monkey and the Carmaeled Pear (supposedly both are vegan. Yes!). This is a couple blocks away from work so it's a dangerous after work study spot :)

The staff here is amazing, though. The manager type guy (not sure, but he seems that way) is incredibly helpful, always coming by to help me with my first tea mishap and such. There's another really adorable guy with tatts that is just the sweetest soul ever.

One drawback is that it's not really the best place to study. They sometimes have the whole wall open and a ton of sun will stream in, or it will be too cold or too hot, and they only have tiny tables and chairs (a laptop and a dish with tea is too much). But I guess that goes with the whole trendy superfood health vibe...

I'll be moving in to eat and drink only fruits, vegetables, grains, and non-dairy millks. To peruse the wall of supplements, deciding whether a little valerian root, CQ-10, or MSM would be best today. To sip on luscious brightly-colored smoothies full of things like agave nectar, cacao nibs, kale, coconut milk, bananas or dates. (Not all in the same cup, though....) To eat a lunch of vegan soup, or drink cold tea in the afternoon, or hot tea in the afternoon, or coffee. It all depends....To sit in the sun, inside or out, and fully indulge my most decadent healthy soul. At night, to curl up in a little wheatgrass forest, rest my head on a pillowy bag of goji berries, and drift off to sleep....

Thank you.

I am absolutely in love with Healeo! Not only are the food and smoothies delicious, but the staff is extremely knowledgeable. They gave me some ideas about how I could tackle a long-time skin malady and now my skin is looking great!

Also, during the first days of summer, I was lamenting about the fact that there were no Vegan soft-serve shops in the city, and voila! We discovered Healeo and can't get enough.

I am in love...

This place has been open for such a short time but has already become one of my favorite spots on the hill!   Healeo fills a niche for people who are trying to eat organic, raw, and non-dairy for various reasons.  Unlike some places in this category, Healeo accomplishes the feat of providing treats that would appeal to almost anyone.  I lured my gastronomically unadventurous  co-worker here by saying "it's kind of like jamba juice!" and even he had to admit that Healeo's smoothies were far superior to the sugary alternative.

The hemp soft serve is unbelievably creamy and delicious, nothing like other non-dairy ice cream substitutes I've tried (and that's a good thing).  The smoothies are the star of the show as far as I'm concerned, though.  I crave the Coconut Almond on a daily basis.  It transports me to a tropical beach on first sip.  The cacao pow is richly chocolate flavored and satisfying.  The Heavenly Hemp is creamy and substantial, tasting of honey and banana.  The smoothies are in the 5-6 dollar range with "superfood extras" such as protein and goji berries that can be added for .50 each.

Healeo's owner, Justin, is passionate about his business and his customer service is stellar.  Even on the hottest day in Seattle EVER he was sweet and gracious.  As I set up shop with my smoothie and laptop, he came over with a sample of the pomegranite kefir- refreshingly tart and delicious!  Every staff person I've encountered has been genuinely friendly and conscientious.

The look of the cafe is light, open and modern.  They have free wifi, and as another reviewer pointed out, a beautiful, impeccably clean bathroom.  They also offer raw food snacks, soup, bars, Kombucha (with prices comparable to other purveyors) and supplements.

Being on a budget, I'll probably stick with Sundays to get the three dollar smoothie deal.  Given Healeo's proximity to my place of work, however, it will be difficult to avoid making a mid-week stop (or two).  Their prices are not unreasonable for the high quality that you receive, especially with the complimentary iced tea they offer to patrons sitting in the cafe.  I really want this business to succeed, which has been my excuse for coming back as often as I have!

I tried some crazy smoothie blend being tested before inclusion on the menu, made of stuff that sounds horrible.  It was wonderful.

This place probably deserves five stars, but I've only been the once.  Don't hate me; I promise to return next time I'm near the radio towers.

I feel like I should write two reviews for Healeo, because not only is it one of the best health food spots I've ever been to - the bathroom is, without question...

THE BEST PUBLIC RESTROOM I HAVE EVER USED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

But the food. The hemp soft serve is fantastic and on a hot day may actually be considerably more refreshing than real soft serve. I had the Goji superfood smoothie and it may have healed the scar that Jamba Juice left many years ago.

Everything is a bit pricey, but it's also insanely good for you and most of it is raw. The togo items from Chaco Canyon aren't as good as going to Chaco Canyon, but I also know of almost no other raw togo items.

I'll be going back many, many times in my life.

With all the dessert places popping up on Capitol Hill, Healeo is a welcome addition for healthy (super) food, drink and supplement options.  Superfoods are considered to have high nutritional value with major amounts of antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, and other healthy ingredients.  Be sure to check out the Healeo website for more information on superfoods, if you're interested.

After hearing the raves of other Yelpers, I decided to stop in for a smoothie. Ms. Valentina recommended the Coconut Almond Delight,  made with fresh coconut milk, almonds, dates and other delicious ingredients that escape me (guess I'll need to try a memory-enhancer next time). It was quite delightful, slightly sweet, and refreshing.

I enjoyed my visit so much that I returned the next day to sample the hemp seed tabouli, which had chunks of fresh veggies and parsley. This time I tried the ruby-red acai-oxidant smoothie, containing acai and pomegranate.  Another win, with the added bonus of berries at the bottom of the glass - sort of like a bubble tea, but healthier.

The Healeo store is a clean, airy space with plenty of room to browse and sit. A center island also has seats along one side, cleverly called the nutrition bar. You can sit and chat while you eat or sip. Free Wi-Fi also allows you to surf. The store has large walk-through windows that open onto 15th Avenue, where a couple of tables also allow for outdoor seating.  Colorful foods and supplements line its spacious shelves, and a small fridge island tempts you with fresh raw salads and snack items.

The service at Healeo is warm and welcoming. They even brought water outside to my dog while I ordered my smoothie. These folks are well-versed in their nutrient knowledge, and they like to offer suggestions if you have a particular nutritional concern. They also like to offer samples - the way to this girl's heart! On my first visit I tried a delicious smoothie made of hemp and just the right amount of banana. Yum! - I'll have to try that on a return visit. The next day I was offered a sample of the chocolate hemp ice cream which was creamy and delicious.  I have a new-found admiration for hemp and its many tasty uses, and I can't wait to return for a bowl help ice cream with some delicious toppings.

The prices at Healeo may seem slightly higher than other smoothie sellers, but trust me -- those guys are not even in the same league.  Given the quality of the ingredients and the added bonus that everything really tastes delicious, I'm confident that it's worth the investment. Follow Healeo on Twitter and you may even hear of specials and activities like massage and yoga. Healeo, you have a new fan!

Today I stopped by Healeo to sample their famous hemp ice cream and to get out of the ridiculous, blistering heat! I had to ask myself (and then Mike, one of the owners) how, exactly, one gets milk from hemp. (Jokingly? - I know zero about it).The answer is  one blends hemp seeds with water and creates hemp "milk." Huh. No matter the process, the result was an unexpectedly creamy chocolate soft serve that I quickly devoured. I topped it with some organic raspberries and coconut among a myriad of other choices including goji berries, cashews, and cacao nibs.

Healeo offers a mind-boggling assortment of teas and certified organic supplements that line the walls of the shop. You could probably spend hours smelling and sampling all the loose leaf teas they offer here. While you're at it, you might as well take advantage of the free wi-fi, too!

Noteworthy:

A lot of their smoothies and supplements contain bee pollen which is said to increase energy. Nice to see those damn bees are finally pulling their weight.

You can consume live algae here. In a shot. It's harvested from a lake in Oregon, frozen, and shipped straight to Healeo. I asked what it tasted like and was told, "lake water." Yum.

On Wednesdays at 7:15 am they offer a "stretch" class for $12. I'm guessing this is like beginner's yoga?

On saturdays between 2-6, they offer free chair massage. Go for the hemp, stay for the massage. That's something I can get behind.

My significant other and I have been looking for a local Capitol Hill alternative to schlepping out to Chaco Canyon in the U-District for our raw food fix. While Heleo may lack the full kitchen facilities of a place like Chaco, they prevail by whipping up the finest smoothies in the city (well, outside of our home kitchen) and by doing with a smile.

Invariably, the owner, Justin, is on site and never fails to greet us. He's hands-on and it shows!

If you would have told me that I'd be consuming goji berries and hemp ice cream during my adventures on the hill yesterday, I probably would have laughed in your face and said something to the effect of, "Cha... right?!"

Well folks... the joke's on me I guess, since this is exactly how it went down at Healeo yesterday afternoon. As i was leaving the hill, I remembered that there was a new hot spot on Madison that all the cool, vegan, heart healthy, raw friendly kids were raving about and I decided to check 'er out.

The space is very modern, yet welcoming and comfortable. The cool factor here is off the charts. I loved it already and I hadn't even ordered yet.

So... what to get? I asked for suggestions, and while they all looked good, I went with the Goji smoothie. Goji berries, strawberries, orange juice (I think) bananas... and lots of other things that were a.) delicious and b) very good for me. The smoothies here are appropriately priced at around $6, and while that might seem expensive, there's so much more that goes into these than at any other smoothie joint around town. You know who you are.

Kombucha, light snacks, vitamins, and hemp ice cream. Yes, ice cream made with Hemp. Mind boggling? Yes, but they serve it here. I have no idea how you milk hemp, but Healeo has managed to do so. I sampled the vanilla, and while it didn't rock my face off by itself, I can see how it'd be great with granola and/ or fruit.

The service: pleasant, efficient, and helpful.
The smoothies: delicious, fresh, and filling.
The verdict: Like Mickey D's, "Da da da da daaaaa. I'm Lovin' It!"

When I sometimes wonder, having explored a reasonable amount of the city and have amalgamated into the culture despite my address, if I might actually be cool and fitting in to Seattle, visits to cafes like the "superfood" champion Healeo bring me back.

Don't misunderstand - Healeo isn't cool like a trendy bar, or the latest Tom Douglas venture, or the only club in town, but they do what they do organic, vegan, natural, raw, etc. Case in point, I'm not connected or into the scene enough to have an overarching meta-adjective to use in the place of the previous ones.

With little to go on in this bright, colorful other world, I ended up with something somewhat familiar - the Cacao Pow ($5) smoothie with hemp seeds (+$0.50) It made for a light, lightly sweet, and deep flavored chocolate breakfast, and if I'd added any of the other mixers or proteins ($0.50 each) it might have sufficed for a small lunch.

Another nice touch, which might be due to their relative newness, but seemed to go along with the vibe, is that we were offered blueberry agave ice tea (gratis) while we sat and talked and took advantage of the free fi-wi for about 2 hours, otherwise undisturbed in a prime sunny window table. (I'm not sure how well this will translate into the rainy months, but I'm trying not to think about that until the dismal gray shadows arrive.)

Healeo does command a premium, but at least for now, not being overrun by hipsters either due to ignorance or recession, it seems worth it for the positive vibe, one that is strong enough that rather than being able to stereotype it into sour grapes, and I simply must admit that there is a health-focused world to visit to which I am mostly parallel.

I looooove this place! And it's a 5 minute walk from my apartment, praise the lord. If you purchase their "bottomless" organic tea, you can sit and use their internet for as long as you want, and they even take music requests (though I noticed that they play an awesome selection of music anyway)!!! I've been there twice in the 3 days I've lived here, sampling the coffee (mm), the vegan cream of broccoli soup (mmm), and the vegan soft serve with my choice of toppings (fresh raspberries and shredded coconut [mmmmmmmm])!!! The staff is so friendly and helpful and pleasant, and they have a wide selection of healthy juices, vitamins, teas, and smoothies. I plan on going there on a more-than-regular basis.

Healeo's customer service alone has me singing their praises to pretty much anyone I encounter. Since my initial visit I have been back twice.
I also follow them on Twitter, which I highly recommend as you get to hear about their specials (and boy they have some great ones).

I met a fellow yelper here on Saturday for a smoothie, I went back for the Heavenly Hemp because it is SO good, and very healthy to boot. I am particular about my smoothies, so I tend to ask a lot of questions and also substitute things (like dates instead of agave). I found out that they make all their milks there. The hemp and the coconut milk I have had are fresh and house made! Hooray!!

After my smoothie, I had a cup of coffee. I asked for coconut milk in it and they obliged, which was SUCH a treat as I much prefer it over soy. Now, I do believe that the fresh coconut milk probably isn't the best for coffee as it is very light, but still...I asked, they provided.

And here is the kicker. I didn't have any cash on hand, and the receipt didn't leave room for tip. I apologized and the guy who took my order said:
"No problem! We just hope you come back!"

You don't hear baristas say that.

Also, we had finished our drinks and were still sitting there chatting when he came by with free blueberry pomegranate iced tea. Quite refreshing!

I definitely will be back again and again. Can't wait for the $3 smoothie on Sunday.

I wanted to dislike this place because it's a big ugly condo business...
That's all changed now.
After visiting family in Chico California I found I had a new appreciation for healthy ethical diet options being so convenient... 1 block away in my case. This being the case I was easily swayed to check out this "slick" new Healeo. I was very pleased. They milk their own hemp seed, I don't know how they manage such itsy-tiny udders. The algae from Klamath lake has really gained my interest. It's priced reasonably and isn't gross. It just tastes "green". The vegan hemp soft-serve is tasty, a generous portion and it comes with your choice of a topping; coconut, fresh fruit, hemp seed etc... The  soft serve  doesn't seem as "melty" as the  more traditional concoctions. Many healthy option in a Star Trek'esque atmosphere. Healeo? Hell Ya!
Thanks Healeo!

I was literally on my way to Jamba Juice one day when I ran into a friend of mine on their way back from Healeo.  I opted for Healeo and I'll never go back to Jamba Juice again!

I've had a few of their smoothies, the vanilla and the chocolate ice cream, and their wheat grass shots.  Everything's organic, and when I talked to the guy behind the counter he mentioned that they were working on sourcing more of their ingredients locally.

I came back for breakfast to check out some of the rest of the menu. The acai granola is an enormous bowl and you can pick any toppings that you'd like from a bar which includes a variety of fruit (papaya, banana, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc), goji berries, a bunch of nuts, and cacao nibs. Mmm.

Their yerba matte latte includes peppermint oil. I was initially skeptical but it offsets the potentially-bitter yerba matte well.

They also have an espresso machine which I hadn't noticed on my initial visit.

This time I brought my laptop to work/study. I checked around for outlets and there are 8 of them. They're hidden behind the benches against the wall but if you look through the hole in the back of the benches you'll see them.

Holy healthy goodness!  The last thing my budget needed was an addiction to to $6 smoothies just around the corner from my house, but here I am completely hooked after just a couple visits.

It's such a relief to finally have a place that makes me a smoothie with real food, and not something starting from a sugary syrup.  They're so filling as a meal replacement, and I know I'm nourishing my body.

On my way to Madison Market the other week, I stumbled across what seemed to be an interesting new shop starting up below one of the 300+ condo developments in the Cap Hill region.  I had been waiting (impatiently) for it to open up, so I could get a better idea of what would be offered at a place that boasts "vegan, live, organic foods".  From my understanding, the only thing that comes close to offering a variety of those options on the hill is madison market's deli and raw food section.  I love spots like the chaco canyon in the university district, and there are few things better on a these warm, sunny days than a vegan, raw dish to keep you from passing out from metabolic standstill...

within seconds of my first visit, i am eagerly offered a sample of some vegan hemp milk ice cream.  soft serve.  deLICious!  I was too busy perusing around the shops supplements and packaged goods to notice the awesome smoothie options immediately... but now, it's the reason i keep coming back!  Personally, i'm mildly addicted to the acai-oxidant and pomegranate kefir smoothies.  There is also a goji berry smoothie with bananas and bee pollen that's blown not only my mind, but the minds of my fellow co-workers that dine on the smoothies with me as we're opening up our restaurant.

They have a bunch of fresh juice options, too... little concoctions that are meant to focus on enhancing particular functions of the body.  I haven't tried any of them, yet... i'm still too stuck on the smoothies. ha!  maybe in a week or two...

The owner is an incredibly sweet guy, too.  seems to love offering samples of the different ice cream toppings (golden berries, goji, cocao nibs-which is my FAVORITE, etc. etc).  I love supporting local businesses.  Particularly when they're just starting out, and they have such a likable person in charge.

and, p.s.- i eat the s*&t out of burgers and brie.  i am NO vegan.  and it's STILL an amazing place to snack...

I love Healeo. So far I've tried a few beverages and they've all been delicious. If you like ginger, be sure to try their Carrot juice drink - it has just the right amount. Hmmmm...

Three stars because its PRICEY. But, when things are all organic and fresh I guess that's what you pay for. I had a Goji Berry smoothie, very tasty and satisfying. Sampled the hemp ice cream, its actually good for ice cream without dairy. I dont know if Ill ever be gutsy enough to order it, but it was tasty.

Must have chocolate vegan soft serve now!  I wish it was open a tad bit later, but other than that, it's a great place to lounge around in as you eat your cone or dish.

I was so excited to find this place!  I live very very nearby and the opening of Healeo coincided with my not drinking coffee anymore so it's great to have a non-coffee, healthy place to go to!  Even though I own a juicer, it's nice to be able to get some crazy juice without having to stock up on 14 different kinds of fruits and veggies.  anyway, go there, it's good.

I've been planning to visit Healeo for some time and finally got to go there yesterday. Right when I walked in I was offered a sample of ice cream. It tasted pretty good. I ordered one of their smoothies. It was yummy. My only "suggestion for improvement" are prices: maybe I'm not keeping up with the inflation but $6 for a fairly small smoothie seems pretty expensive.

I'm usually not into soy ice cream and the like, but I love Healeo's hemp milk ice cream! It's more like soft serve actually. It's really yummy!

It's a great place to just chill or bring your laptop and get some work done. Like a coffee shop only better.

Walking into the place was like walking into a little oasis on Capitol Hill, cliched as it may sound. Everything was very sunny, clean, well-organized, and cheerful-looking, and the staff was eager to help. I think it'd be great if the seating area were a little larger, but it looks like it'll be a good place to sit and study on nice days.

I have to say that I haven't seen anything in their selection that really stands out over places like Madison Market and Remedy Tea, except maybe their selection of beverages- the vitamins seemed on par with what you can get at Costco, and so forth.

The black tea was amazing, and the Vitamin D/Calcium vitamins didn't seem anything out of the ordinary aside from that weird smell that blasted out at me as I opened the jar. I'll keep trying out this place and hope that they flesh out their personality a little more.

I went to Healeo tonight for the first time, and I guarantee you it will not be my last. The space is fantastic, the menu is incredible, the staff is friendly, and the owner is excited and takes pride in his store. From vegan ice cream to tea to vitamins, Healeo is a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood!
