We were down in Wilmington today (grandma lives there) and got hungry. My mom suggested Hayden's Crossing. Wilmington isn't exactly known as a culinary destination, but Hayden's has started to change that.
It's decorated like an old barn, and is very rustic, but not the least bit "country or frilly". There is a wall running down the middle of the room, separating the bar from the restaurant area - something I wish more establishments would do. While we were in the restaurant area, I did peek into the bar area and it was really nice - flat screen tvs, nice atmosphere, and the entire place is completely spotless. I can't remember the last time I saw a resturant/bar so friggin clean! You'd think they just opened the doors for the first time this morning.
The service was amazing. A friendly young girl took our drink order less than 30 seconds after we sat down, and they were in hand not more than 30 seconds after that. The food was outstanding as well. We had the Pub Sticks for an appetizer. YUM!!! Think something like an egg roll stuffed with what we concluded was a mixture of spinach/artichoke dip and loads of mozzarella cheese, some garlic thrown in and served with grated parmesan on top. Hubby had the Black & Blue burger and he said it was awesome - ate every last bit of that 1/2 behemoth. I had the Pub Burger with White Cheddar which is just your standard burger with the usual toppings, but it was outstanding... juicy, cooked perfectly, and oh so yummy. My kid ordered a hot dog, and I believe it was served on garlic bread - or at least a french roll. Either way, he said it was great. The fries were awesome too. According to mom, their soups are also great, as are their salads - many of which we saw being served. On our way out we overheard another patron who was passing through town and stopped for a bit to eat, talking to the owner. The compliments on the food & service were nonstop, and I later agreed with him on everything he said. Too bad there isn't a place like this closer to Chicago!
Quick, friendly service and great food. We'll definitely be back! -

Great restaurant with very good food. Worth taking a trip out to or going to after going to a movie down the block or antique shopping in the area.

Hayden's Crossing is definitely my favorite place to eat and hang out at in Wilmington.
Their food is great. So far I've had their "Black 'n' Blue Burger", buffalo shrimp, and the BLT wedge salad. All were absolutely awesome, especially the buffalo shrimp.
Not to be outdone by their food, they also have a fairly wide array of beers on tap or available in bottle form, including my two favs, Smithwick and Guinness.
Also, the place is beautiful inside. From its stone brick walls to the "loft" area with a recreated barn, it is really cool.
Everyone who works there is very friendly to boot. -

Visited Hayden's again and had another great meal. I'd give 5 stars, but both times I've been there the service has been shotty. Friendly waitresses, but they like to forget about you. We sat for at least 15 minutes before they even took drink orders.

Good little local restaurant. Service and food was good. Some of the other reviews were dated, so I wanted to make sure everyone knew that this place is still good.

Haydens is a great place to eat for any occasion. It's decorated like an old barn with rustic wood floors, but doesn't take the 'country' appeal overboard. It has 3 sections: a dining room, a bar area, and a small room for private parties.
- Dining: Food is awesome, they just expanded their menu with a lot more selections! So if you haven't been there in the past couple months go check it out again!! PUB STICKS --- AMAZING, love them! And now they have Reuben sticks, which is like a Reuben sandwich turned into an egg roll (my husbands family loves them!). I've tried a few things: Alfredo, tortellini, wraps, burgers... all are awesome! My husband has gotten the salmon & tilapia and both were great too! Haven't tried anything I didn't like from here! The prices have increased since the new menu, but still aren't bad.
- Bar area: bartenders are fast, atmosphere is laid back, you can sit at a table or dance on the floor - the jukebox has any sorta music you'd like.
- Private party room: I had my rehearsal dinner here actually- close and convenient. We had a little under 40 people, did a buffet style (which came with awesome food!!), they let us bring in desserts, decorated with cute lights and table coverings, quiet - couldn't hear the bar or dining area ppl, plenty of room for everyone.
Great place to eat in a small town! -

Hayden's was good when it first opened but has slowly slid back to the rest of the pack and there are no good restaurants in the Wilmington/ Braidwood/ Coal City area.

If you haven't been to Hayden's yet...get there!! It is now even better than before...Chef Dean has revamped and expanded the menu. It is amazing and fabulous!! We love it. There's usually a little bit of a wait on the weekends, so get there early and enjoy a cocktail in the rustic looking bar while you wait.

Love this place either for a beverage or two or for the awesome food. The steak sandwich is my favoritebut the burgers are incredible and the soups are made from scratch every day. You never know what the soup will be because it depends on what they have fresh that day.
Great food, I'm glad we have a place like this in Wilmington. My only complaint is that they are closed on Mondays.
Love the photo, it is of an acutal photo of the place.
Highly recommended. -

I've been here three times...each time I've ordered a burger...something I normally wouldn't do...but theirs are soooo good. Most recently I had the black and blue...very good. Everything was perfect...the burger was juicy the toppings crisp...I didn't even put ketchup or anything else on the sandwich...that good! I can't wait for blueberry season...I'm going to take my friends there after we're done picking our blueberries...yeah!
