1 review for Hawthorn Suites
Definitely a two-star "Meh. I've experienced better." experience here.
The poor husband had been driving all week, and after we dropped the kid off in Maryland (not randomly, at her Aunt's house, sheesh!), he was exhausted. We made the very wise decision to pull over, stay at a nearby hotel, and get some sleep before heading back home. There are a few hotels in the same vicinity here (Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Motel 6), but after being told that Hampton Inn was sold out for the night *I'm still wondering how a hotel could be "sold out" in this area. Aside from the Waffle House, I didn't see much around. :0)*, we grabbed a room here.
The thing is, this hotel is fine for what we needed it for. But I feel it's a bit misleading for a Hyatt-brand hotel. And here goes my rant...
1. We got a "non-smoking" room. It absolutely reeked of stale smoke. Yuck. So much so that I was hoarse in the morning. That's just gross.
2. The room itself just didn't seem that "clean". Like there was some unidentified schmutz in the shower *oh good LAWD!*, and overall, the room just sort of seemed yucky. The stale smoky grossness might be clouding my judgment *hehe*, but I wasn't impressed.
3. The walls are CRAZY thin. It's not the hotel's fault, but there was a rowdy, obnoxious group of teenage girls in the room next to ours that we could hear ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Suffice it to say, not a terrific night's sleep.
I guess it could be summed up that if you're on the highway, absolutely exhausted, and must stop here for the night, go ahead. It's just a very no-frills, basic *smelly!* hotel. (They do offer a AAA discount, though!)
