Santa Rosa, CA
"This hotel rocks!!! There was a flat screen TV, well decorated (modern, yet comfy), and the bed was super comfy. I happened to hotwire…" read more »
Location: it's in Napa, which is not in the middle of all the wineries, but at one end. If you want to be in the midst of well known restaurants like Redd, Ad Hoc, Bistro Jeanty, ...then you need to stay in Yountville (and pay more). Here, the location is pretty quiet. Near Target and Starbucks. If you just need a clean room and be somewhat near the wineries, this is not bad.
Value: Decent. This place is less expensive than the other places in the heart of Wineries. You get:
- a decent room with bathroom
- Free Internet Access (both wireless (very weak signal), and via a LAN line (can't remember the technical term for the non-wireless internet connection).
-Microwave.
-Fridge (great for freezing your ice packs and keeping your purchases cool).
-pretty quiet as long as you don't have noisy neighbors or loud folks walking by your room late. I have stayed here on 2 occasions and have not had any noise issues (I get the 3rd floor rooms).
Cons:
-not a romantic getaway at all
-no view
-can't get Sun and Privacy at the same time. If you open the curtains, people walking by your room could see through the sheers into your room. If you close the curtain, it's dark.
-mediocre coffee in the room; the plastic bag doesn't have a perforated opening, you have to use your teeth.
-limited channels on the tv
-no hair conditioner, just shampoo!
BREAKFAST is so-so, but at least it's provided. The best things are the bacon or sausage, fresh fruits, oatmeal, and milk. There's cereal, bread, bagel, muffins, eggs (awful), potatos (mediocre), coffee, and juice. Atmosphere and decor is a bit on the depressing side.
I paid $179 for a Saturday night and $129 for a Sunday night. This place is affordable and clean. Located five minutes away from downtown Napa and shopping center. The inn is tucked away and kind of difficult to see. Adjacent to weird industrial place, so didn't have a good view, but that wasn't a problem since we had to keep the curtains shut whenever we were in. Lack of privacy because window is right next to walkway.
Interior was relatively new. Rooms were pretty big. Came with loveseat and coffee table, mini fridge, and bar sink. Shower heads were really strong!
Breakfast was good. Home fries were really tasty. Eggs tasted a little fake. There were also bacon, bagels, muffins, bread, fresh fruit, and cereal.
The Hawthorne Suites in Napa, California is the premiere destination when traveling to Northern California's beautiful wine country. It is located near the some of the nation's most historical wineries, so excitement is just a sip away. Next time I travel to wine country, I will stay at the Hawthorne Suites Napa Valley.
