**Disclaimer - I may have been a tad drunk when enjoying my Katsu Curry....***

Came in here after a long day of tailgating and assured this place was AMAZING. We were the only two in the restaurant and were greeted very warmly upon arrival.

I ordered the chicken katsu curry and my counterpart got the BBQ short ribs. My dish came with a large portion of chicken katsu, a big ole scoop of white rice and an even bigger bowl of curry. The curry was thick and delicious, almost like a gravy. It had pieces of carrot and potato in it - I was hooked. I put it all over everything - soaked the rice and dipped every piece of chicken that I had on my plate in it.

I had a bite of the ribs, and they were good also, but I liked the curry much better. I would be content even with a bowl of curry and rice! The dishes were priced very well, the ambiance was cliche but cute and the employees were very warm. I'd like to come back and give something else a shot!

I am a real fan of Hawaiian food and this place met my expectations. Not to mention we had an Entertainment Book coupon so we didn't mind paying the higher price.

I got the BBQ combo and it was killer. The mac salad was a must. My girlfriend got the mahi mahi and it was kinda of dryand  bland. But I would go back, if i had another coupon.

Three things I love about this place: 1) bbq chicken plate - not a fan of macaroni salad, so I've asked for a green salad instead (very good dressing); 2) spam musubi - what's not to love? It's quite substantial, and the rice is the perfect foil for the fatty, strangely decadent spam; and 3) the mint candies by the register - can I pls just dump the whole bowl into my purse?
I used to live in the Wallingford neighborhood, and Hawaiian Breeze was one of our favorite places to go for dinner on a weeknight. now that I live by Northgate, I haven't been back. Not that I don't think the drive is worth it, because it is. I'd climb a mountain for those candies :-)

I thought the food was good, and one of the best hawaiann places i've been to locally, the prices are a bit high but I had a entertainment coupon so it was reasonable.  I'm not sure if i would go for dinner without the coupon, but possible lunch.

I would have never thought I'd find incredible Hawaii-style food in Seattle of all places, but this was such an awesome find! Chicken katsu curry plate and a side of kimchi was a great dinner. Unfortunately they did not have haupia but they did have coconut cake and lemon custard cake. (I didn't actually order dessert, but it sounds like they have a good rotation of yummy sweets.) My friends got pork katsu and karaage. Everyone was happy with their choices. Next time I'll get the loco moco and maybe some pog juice to go with it!

How...interesting.  I've had a TON of Hawaiian food in my life but this is the first time I've ever had it served on actual glass dishes!   Despite my numerous trips to Hawaii I usually only eat at plate lunch places where the food comes on a paper plate or styrofoam box so imagine my surprise to get great Hawaiian food on nice white glass plates!

The only thing is that along with the nice glass plates comes a much higher price for the food than typical Hawaiian plate lunch prices. I got a loco moco for $10.50 (I've never paid that much for a loco-moco before). It was a large hand made patty with a nice, dark brown gravy, and two scoops of rice.  But what's with it only coming with one egg?  I like a lot of egg and would've ordered another one but I think it was around $3 (I may be off on that price but I knew I didn't want to pay for another egg considering the loco moco was already over 10 bucks)

Despite the price, I do think its worth it considering the quality of the food. One of my friends had the chicken karage (awesome), another had the chicken curry (pretty good), and yet another had the pork katsu (awesome).

Pretty good bbq-plates, I always order  the short ribs and  chicken and loved them everytime.  I would love to get another extra scoop of mac salad, its pretty darn good as it gets in Seattle.  The service is on island-time, a tad slow but not too slow (regardless if there's people in there with you or not). I haven't tried their other menu items as I love my shortribs very much, but the other food do look good when other people have ordered it.
Hooray for azuki beans in the shaved ice, how about some ice cream too yah?
I love this place and glad that it exists.  Mahalo

Ah.. nice easy-breezy of good food.  It's not WOW-breezy but it's not bad, especially with an Entertainment book coupon(Yeah, I'm a cheapass). Without a coupon, this place is a few bucks more than L&L but still worth it.

side note: Is it me or is Hawaiian food sort of like family style Japanese food/Teriyaki with some mac salad?

Yum yum in my tum tum. The bf got the seafood combo with short ribs while I got the mahi mahi (as usual). The short ribs were perfect as well as the mac salad. Place is a bit small inside and they showed tv screenings of images in Hawaii (man, I sure do miss Hawaii). But anyhoo, service was slow which is why I'm knocking it down 5 stars. Would def come here again.

So far service is slow & two people got their food 10 minutes before the last plate arrived to the table. They were out of macaroni salad, hello that's why I came here! Finally the food arrived. It was well worth the wait, yummy chicken and kalua pork. I'll be back & there better be macaroni salad! They need to clean up the hallway to the bathrooms. It looks liek they have a storage issue.

Well, you know, it's an average Hawaiian shack.  If you like that sort of thing, then you'll love it.  If you don't, then you won't.

It's clean. Nice service. Plenty of room to sit. It's like a cafe.

Their spam musubi has too much rice. I don't know why but there seems to be a trend to put more and more rice in musubi. I love rice, don't get me wrong. But their musubi is like a big rice ball with a trace of spam. (I'm sorry if you're wondering why in the world I would eat spam. I'm hapa. Cope with it.)

Finally!

I got here! One look at  the cake and ideas of cake filled my mind instead of eatign lunch. That's what I came in for. Ok. I am going to eat lunch.

I sat at a lovely window table. My menu included more things I want to try than one person can eat in a week.

I decided on the mahi-mahi and prawns with ribs accompanied by  macaroni salad and rice . And a lovely flower on my plate.

The prawns were cooked perfectly: breaded. The ribs.. umm terayaki! Thin an dnicely cooked and very juicy.. The Hawaiian macaroni salad was a reminder of my many days traveling to Hawaii.

Music in the background was sweet soothing Hawaiian.

Two women entered. They had the cake!! I finished my meal. Then they got plates which looked  o good I had to ask them what it was! Barbecue chicken salad. Nice looking salad with  dark green greens, carrots and othe rveggies and the chicken on top.

I will definitely be back.

Mahalo.

I wish this place was in my neighborhood.  Hawaiian Breeze offers friendly service and generous portions of well prepared Hawaiian style comfort foods.  The prices are friendly too.

Apparently this place in no secret for the Wallingfords residents, it seemed every other patron there was known by the staff.  I think we'll be back often in the future and may reach that status too.

The place is small they only have eight tables and 3 are stuck tot he wall.  A word of advice if you are sitting at one of the table walls be careful or you might bang you knee multiple times on the bracket holding it to the wall and it will leave a very un-sexy bruise on your thigh.

They tried on their decor and on the flat screen TV over the shaved ice machine they like to show a Hawaiian Lawrence Welk/Billy Graham type program it had a lot of lei's and ukulele playing and singing and hula dancing.  And they try to pull off an island vibe with the wooden wind chime at the door and the island pictures hanging up along with the fake bamboo wall help. The place wasn't dirty but wasn't spotless either a few tables had dirty dishes on them and the person working the counter was too busy eating their dinner to even bother clearing away the dirty dishes and for some reason it annoyed me a little, oh well the food was good and that's what matters.

My last meal there I went for the chicken kara-age plate, you know the drill two scoops of steamed rice and one scoop of mac salad. The chicken is fried nicely and not greasy at all and the ginger adds a nice kick to it, it is one of my favorite fried chickens around.  The food is always freshly cooked to order so be careful when taking your first bite into the chicken because if you're like me you'll probably burn your tongue. Bruised knee burnt tongue I wonder why I go here.  Their mac salad does not fall into the crackaroni salad category but it is tasty it's just missing something but I'm not sure what and their rice is your typical steamed white rice.

Why you're waiting for your food and you're sick of watching the hula dancing and ukulele playing they have all kinds of books on Hawaii so if you need to do some research on Hawaii you can do it here while you patiently wait for your dinner to arrive.

They have shave ice with the azuki beans and condensed milk!!! Well they were out of beans that day so I was bummed but the food was way better than I expected.

The boy ordered Kahlua pork. I never liked Kahlua pork so I cannot judge the dish. He loved it, so that is that!

I ordered the bento with shortribs and everything on it was amazing. Even the spam tasted better than usual. The rice was perfectly cooked and the short ribs...oh my! Best shortribs outside of my cooking. It was well marinated and moist- not dry and burnt like the other restaurants. The mac salad- theee best. OHHhhhh and their Fried Mahi Mahi.....perfectly crisp on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. I can't wait to go back!

If I could do 4.5 I would! I love their Karaage. That's how I make it at home. Really! But to tell you the truth, I've only eaten Karaage there so I don't know about other dishes.

I usually go there with my friends and they said their curry is good, also katsu, salad, and BBQ are also good. I should try them next time. But Karaage is the best, I think!

I like it-
Not a 5 star but a solid- "I will be back "4!

We got a happy greeting right when we walked in and were told to pick our seats. Hawaiian Breeze was clean, Hawaiian decor themed, and played an old school like show with hula dancers up on a giant TV by the cash register.

The food's good- my friend's ginger fried chicken (bone-less- called Kara-age) made her happy and my loco moco was tasty. Both our dishes came Hawaiian plate style with rice and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was a great cold side- tangy and light. My loco moco's gravy wasn't the best I have had- but it worked. My loco moco also came with 2x the amount of "hamburger patty" that I have receive before and the egg wasn't quite over easy.

Our meal was under $10 a dish and very filling. Locals and families came and went for take-out when we were there. The children that did stay received their food on Sanrio themed dish sets- which I thought was so cute. It is a good sign when the neighbors are always stopping in for food.

God, it hurts me to give a Hawaiian place just three stars...

Nice restaurant, with homey (for me) decor, and a killer soundtrack.  Unfortunately, the service was running on HST, or Hawaiian Standard Time, AKA "Hawaiian time" AKA slow as fucking molasses.
The BBQ chicken was really good - just like home - as was the macaroni salad.  I also liked the miso soup and SPAM (yesss!) served with my bento.  But come on!  The frozen SYSCO mahi-mahi and shrimp have GOT TO GO!

Overall, enjoyable but disappointing.  I really want to give them a second chance...

I liked this place a lot.

They have a better than average Hawaiian BBQ and some of the japanese home cookin' that I love.

I read recently that the most popular favorite dish in japan based on general survey of the public was curry by a large majority.  The curry here reminded me of the Curry House chain I used to go for lunch which was always packed with Japanese.  It was right near Honda and Toyota US HQs.  Go fig.

They had run out of pork when I ordered my pork katsu curry. This was a disappointment and made me sad.  Hawaiian Breeze had me all ready for pork katsu and then I had to settle for chicken.  Pork tease!

All is good here and strikingly different from the other close by Hawaiian place in Tangletown.  This place has a definite more Japanese feel compared to the more Polynesian vibe of the Luau Polynesian Lounge.

We stuck out again when we wanted to split the house specialty coconut cake for dessert, but they were out of that as well.  Some sumo team must have hit the place earlier that day.  We instead had a "mango pudding" which was really a custard.  I was thinking "are they British Japanese?  Are all desserts puddings?"  It was delicious as well.

The only complaint I would have is that the tea was pretty weak, highly priced, and not listed on the menu.  They did leave a pot of it on the table, but it wasn't appealing enough to have much of it.

I'll definitely be back.

The staff here is very friendly, the atmosphere clean and new yet cozy, and it's clearly a place for "regulars" as most everyone who walked in for dinner knew half the other people there. (This has not been my experience at other Wallingford restaurants, so I don't think it's a neighbor thing.)

There's a big flat-screen television that plays Hawaiian dance performances - I was a bit skeptical of this at first but it was actually pretty cool to watch a minute here and there as we ate and talked.

We ordered the coconut shrimp skewers as an appetizer, and then I had the tofu katsu. Attention vegetarians: YUM. There were 8 pieces of breaded tofu that was so delicate it was like halibut fish, plus two generous scoops of rice and a hearty helping of macaroni salad. (Everything was vegan except the macaroni salad.) This was extremely filling and I barely made it halfway through, but I am definitely coming back here soon for more!

Do you have an hankering for Fried Chicken, but you are stuck in Seattle?  Seattle sucks horribly for Fried Chicken.

On Yelp, we often lament the lack of Fried Chicken.

The Chicken Kara'age was excellent!  The breading has a nice amount of ginger.  It is ... in my opinion ... the best chicken in Seattle.  Period.

Is it 20 pounds of Fried Chicken in a huge bucket?  No.  Is it only $6, yes!

My wife had the Hawaiian BBQ Plate which was very very nicely prepared.

As Mr. Robot O says .. the service is slow.  But it is worth it.  It really really is.

To make sure people see it THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN SEATTLE!

Mebbe I'm spoiled cuz I had fantastic Hawaiian food in Hawaii very recently and then went to Hawaiian breeze cuz I was jonsin' for a big bowl of Saimin.  It was... disappointing. :(  Broth wasn't very flavorful and then ingredients weren't like the Saimin places in Kauai.  I dunno.  I guess I will just save up my $$ and go to Kauai instead.

The waitress was really sweet! Food came by pretty fast and was pretty damn good. I got the Katzu Tofu and it was mighty tasty! :)

Normally, when there is only you in a restaurant, it's a bad sign. However, I think this place is an undiscovered jewel ready to have people line up.

I still love the Hawaiian BBQ on the Ave, but this place is pretty good too! I also love the music, the decor and how we weren't rushed out of there.

I will definitely come back again!

Better by far than many other "Hawaiian" restarants I've tried so far (still looking for suggestions...) in town.  Sadly, they don't have poke.  Boo-hoo.  Got a chicken-shrimp bento with kimchee and a Spam musubi.  Excellent Teriyaki Chicken.  I'm not generally a Teriyaki fan, but theirs is cooked and seasoned perfectly: tasty and delicate, but not soggy or dry.  Three tasty fried shrimp and a piece of Mahi-Mahi were average, but seemingly less greasy.  The macaroni salad was the best part.  I HATE haole mac salad.  Keep your pickles and mustardy stuff outta my Mac! (Thank you.)  The Spam Musubi is HUGE.  A lot of rice and Nori, but not much SPAM.  It'd be better if they just gave you two normal Spam Musubis.  Filling!  I wanted to try their Coconut Cake and Shave Ice, but I was too stuffed.  Next time. MAHALO!

I really enjoy supporting the owners of this place, they are always so pleasent. One night my lady and I came in 5 minutes before close which I know how annoying that is so I said we'd come back another time but they insisted we come in and stay. They gave us great service, the  food was fresh, and they didn't rush our meal or start cleaning up around us.
I really like the kalua pork, which is shredded pork with cabbage bursting with flavor.  We also had the fried mahi mahi which tasted like it came from a frozen box, a bit of a let down...
the highlight of the meal is the dessert- I am a coconut freak and these guys make a homemade coconut cake to die for! My lady once bough a whole cake for my birthday and everyone couldn't get enough of it!

Bottom line- Okay food, great cake, awesome owners, and fair prices.

I only had one thing here, last summer, "shave ice". I could kick myself for saying it that way. It's shavED ice people. And in New Orleans, where I was born, it's called a snowball. Anyhow, it was the best icy concoction I've found it these parts. I had the coconut flavor. You must go here on one of those rare 80 degrees or hotter days (remember those?) and get one. The folks lined up at Molly Moon's ice cream looked at my cone longingly as I walked through them on my way back to my car.

Damnit. I want to be nice. I really do.
This review is brought to you by someone who cooks their own kalua pig in an imu with her father on an annual basis. If you've never had real kalua pig, don't take her seriously.
The lady that served us was very cordial and I'm sure the lone auntie in the back did her best. So I went here with my best friend and her boyfriend (from Honolulu and Kona, respectively) and ordered the kalua pig plate while they ordered kalua pig with cabbage and teriyaki chicken. I'm sure they enjoyed their meal.
However (and I may be a picky little bitch) my kalua pig was bland bland bland. I swear I could hear it repeating in my head! All right, if you label it as "roast pork" or even just "shredded pork" it would have made more sense. Kalua pig is supposed to have Hawaiian salt! I ended up dousing my plate with half the salt shaker.
My very vapid but lovable friend inquired (after all my mumbled bitching), "But wait, the kalua pig is made here after we order it, right?" After having a good laugh about it and discussing cooking times for "liquid smoke-y pork", I resumed my conquest of the mac salad. I am embarrassed to say that while paying the bill, the owner/server questioned me about my take on her kalua pig. Realizing that she may have overheard my mumbles or spotting me dousing the plate with salt, I politely asked her why there wasn't enough salt. She explained that many customers complained (or something) about the salt content, and that is why the pig is quite bland.
Seriously, previous customer-people? Hawaiian food is stuffed with sodium! I mean, if you're going to go to an eatery with "Hawaiian" in the name, you should expect quite a bit of salt and authenticity.
Wait.
Hmm. Maybe not.

We stumbled into this place one day when we were trying to find something to eat in Wallingford. I swear we walked up and down 45th a million times! Finally we stopped here. I am not sure what drew us in but I am glad it caught our eye! I haven't ever eaten such a flavorful teriyaki chicken sandwich until I ate at Hawaiian Breeze. The chicken was so tender and the sauce was absolutely amazing. The price was decent as well. I haven't been back since but my friend and I would like to visit soon.

Still great. I was reading over the other reviews and seems a lot of people agree. Some don't and that is fine. I think reviewer Ane P. is talking about a different restaurant though. Hawaiian Breeze is not anything like a full on Korean Restaurant. I think he went to Aloha Kitchen whitch is a mile or so East. That place is a full on Korean Restaurant. But I think it is also good Korean Restaurant. But in any case. My new favorite at Hawaiian Breeze is the grilled Mahi Mahi. It is always very savory.
