I think they outsourced their call center to India.
We had to change some travel plans to reroute through SFO for a few days, to the tune of $350 change fee - each!

A travel agent booked our flights on Hawaiian. San Jose to Honolulu, and also Honolulu to Maui.
The SJ flight is a 767 that was packed to the brim with carry-on heavy passengers, especially on the voyage home.
The Honolulu-Maui flight , is a MD-80, I think....a bit cramped but all I was doing was looking out the window at the magnificent view, I love cruising over the mountaintops upon our descent to Maui.
I have to say the in flight service was great! It's fun sipping on Hawaiian Sun tropical fruit drinks and watching the promo. stuff on the LCD screens...just gets me in the mood for the islands.
The crew is efficient & friendly. All 4 flights we took took off promptly and were flown expertly.
Note: Our vacation was taken before some of the mergers/acquisitions that happened lately in the airline industry.
I think the price of oil was like $105 bucks too.

Terrible customer service...
We had issues with the whole Aloha / ATA BK filing. Originally we had our flights booked on Aloha, and then when they filed BK and went under we booked the flights from Cali to HI on ATA with interisland flights on Hawaiian. Did you know that you cannot cancel an interisland flight with Hawaiian and use the 'credit' towards a flight to a different destination? You can only use it for the same exact flight schedule it was originally booked for...Kona to Oahu to Kauai to Oahu. We will never use it, OHHH, and they are non transferable and non refundable.

Luckily I booked Hawaiian Air a week before Aloha and ATA went bankrupt. Whew! We got a deal to Hawaii at $145 OW!! Sign up for their rewards (it's free) and you save $10 on a roundtrip flight (hey, every penny counts with me!)
We were traveling with our 23 and 1/2 month old daughter who is just a week shy of her 2nd birthday so she was free!! YAY! The only problem was the ticket agent forgot to give me a lap child pass so we were stopped at security. WTF! We almost missed our flight because we had to run back to the fricken counter and get someone to give us the damn lap pass. Oh, they ran out of lap passes that day. SOOOO we had to drag one of the ticket agents to "vouch" and sign off that yes, we have a lap child.
The flight itself was nice. The flight attendants seem really genuine and show their aloha spirit. Oh, they also serve hot meals. No bag of snacks. Actual meals. Like we chose from spagetti, chicken enchiladas, or turkey sandwhiches. Pretty good!
You can also rent a DVD player filled with movies and shows for $15. We didn't do it cause we had a toddler with us. When do we get time to watch a movie?? Never. BUT I did see a lot of people getting one once they saw, and heard my daughter.
Wine, beer, spirits are $6 and the whole plane is cashless so it's credit card city up in the friendly skies! Once my daughter knocked out I was double fisting the wine bottles.

My manager booked a flight through Hawaiian and she lost her receipt. No problem, I call up Hawaiian trying to get a receipt faxed to us for her travel claim.
At first the clerk told me to get it online (tried that, didn't work cuz she booked it through a travel agent. Why do you think I'd endure a painful phone tree to talk to you if I could grab it online?!?!? I'm anti-social in terms of dealing w/ airlines. I do all my work online!).
Well, it appears they no longer give that out for free. You have to pay $15 for a copy!?!? Well, no thanks. I'm going to try another way to get it.
Nickel and dime-ing people don't win you points or customers!

We had reservations made through a travel agent for an Island hopping 3 wk. adventure... four Islands four different airlines. Hawaiian was my #1 favorite for every reason. This was the second time on Hawaiian, and a new reminder of what makes them special. The attendants are the most professional I have seen, everything is well orchestrated, you are treated like a guest, not an animal, not a dollar sign.
I was altogether extremely impressed with Hawaiian Airlines.
The reservation process was very painless. I knew I had miles on my AmEx to transfer to Hawaiian, so I called ahead and made sure that there were seats available in First Class before I made the reservation. Then I checked the price on the phone and cross-checked it with the price online (not that I am anal or anything) and made sure with the agent on the phone that I could buy online, call back and upgrade to First Class.
Which is what I did:
Buy tickets online - check
Transfer miles from Amex to Hawaiian - check
Call amex to rush the miles transfer - check
Call Hawaiian to get FF# - check
Transfer to agent and upgrade 2 flights to First Class - check
Mind you this was 3 months before I traveled. Did I mention that I'm anal?
As someone who has flown on first class many times, I have to say that I have become disenfranchised with the idea of "first class". All it gets you these days is a larger seat, free booze in an actual glass, below average food, and first on first off the plane.
Hawaiian Airlines had great service and great amenities. They offer you this little video thing for each seat that has multiple movies, TV Shows, Music, and Music Videos with Noise Canceling headphones available for each seat. It costs $15 in Coach which is well worth it, IMO.
The food was actually pretty good. They do "little plates" where you choose 2-3 items. I liked this because if you didn't like one and least there was more options to choose from.
The flight attendants were very friendly and smiley. They actually acted like good servers at a restaurant. Always asking if you needed anything else.
All in all a great flying experience. A few things to lose the star. Their fleet seemed really old IMO. Scratches, worn out upholstery, etc. And they lost our luggage between Honolulu and Kona. Luckily it came that night, as promised, but I still had to buy a new outfit for my function that evening. At least I got a new outfit out of it, but I am going to try and make a claim to get either Hawaiian or Amex to pay for the new outfit :-) One more thing, the inbound plane didn't have a footrest. RUDE.

Good onboard services but the reservations agents are the worst. Make sure they tell you exactly how much they're going to charge you before you agree. They ripped me off for $1,200 and did nothing to resolve the issue.
