Alright, maybe I was wrong about you, Havana Miami. I came back with my family and girlfriend about a month ago. Had something different this time around, the masitas de puerco (pork chunks), and my girlfriend had the ropa vieja. I also had the sopa de plátano (plantain soup) this time.

It was all surprisingly flavorful. I was a little surprised -- pleasantly so, I might add. The décor and waiters' and waitresses' outfits still make me smirk with how silly they are, but I'm going to say that their food was definitely a lot better than last time I went.

I'll say this: things could use a LITTLE less salt. I think everything I ate required me to drink a few gallons of water afterwards to maintain my body's proper salinity. I think I was approaching seawater level there for a second. Jeez.

    Delicious!

I came to Miami on a work trip and a Cuban-American coworker brought me here, which he said is his favorite local restaurant for Cuban food.  My meal was super simple - grilled fish with rice - but it was so freaking delicious!!  I totally cleaned my plate.  I also remember they served some fantastic bread with the meal as well.

If I had an excuse to come back to Miami, I'd definitely hit this place up.

Chichi, get the moros y maduros!

With its neon strip lighting around the windows and synth-y music (at least when we walked in) and canvas entrance canopy Havana Miami reminds me of the Babylon Club in Scarface. Since that's my favorite movie, the memories are pleasant!

I stopped by last night with Megan M. After the Yelp Elite Event at Sunset Corners for some Cuban comfort food. As we walked up, I slowly introduced the Scarface scenery to her. I ordered my typical Pollo a la Parilla with moros y maduros. The chicken breast was nicely portioned (enough for lunch leftovers today), lean with plenty of onions and a basil sprinkling. Moros were crisp, not greasy and tasty. The maduros were sweet without being greasy. Bread service was prompt when we sat, but I actually passed on the bread.

Dessert (come on, you know meby now) was a very sweet creme brulee with the requisite hard crust. Awesome dinner!

I came in with Sergio F. after the Yelp Elite Event at Sunset Corners.

Walking up to the restaurant, he pointed out the pink neon lights. Took us back to scenes from Scarface. I love it. It felt like old Miami.

This was definitely Cuban comfort food (as Sergio mentioned in his review). I had a Cuban sandwich with sweet plantains. It was really good, and not greasy at all. The plantains were perfectly cooked, and the flavor was spot on.

There were way too many menu choices for me. As a gringa, I was a little overwhelmed with all of the different options! I went with the safe choice, but everything sounded really good. If I'm in the area again, I'd come back and be more adventurous when ordering next time.

Been here a few times, not by choice, it's just a convenient location. It's nothing to brag about. It's just OK Cuban food... The service was awful! We had to wave down the waiter for water! The food is mediocre.

There's just too many great Cuban restuarants in Miami and Havana Miami is not one of them!

I would not recommend this place to friends and family!

    Havana Miami Restaurant

Now here is a story with a woeful ending.
On this time, my assent I will not be sending.
Found myself near Miller Road and 88,
Ruminating pizza or "bistec" Sunday late.

I went for "bistec" and brought a companion.
"Good lord!" was the word, take me to "el baño."
Great was not the service, neither was the fare.
I waited for "papas" that never got there.

Now my dinner mate has a rash on her body,
Waiter never brought me "salsa de tomahte,"
A custard we ordered looked like pureed yams,
"Y esto es Candid Camera? O Silence of the Lambs?"

Drive on, I advise, if your tummy's barking,
Until finding somewhere with just as great parking.
Do look for an update on this fabled spot.
Everything is factual; but most, I forgot.

A distinctive Cuban restaurant in the Kendall neighborhood of Dade County.   "Typico" Cuban food at incredibly reasonable prices. I went with my kids and parents on a Saturday night (5 of us in total) and the total bill came out to $60 including tip. We didn't have drinks or desert. So much food desert is not necessary and no drinks primarily to set a good example for the kids. You know, "Don't drink and Drive".

THe "Baby Palomilla" with 3 sides of of plantains, rice and more plantains was deletable.  I have not had a problem with any of the dishs including "Baca Frita" and " Ropa Vieja".

If you are in the Miami area and want to sample what good Cuban food is like in an environment filled with Cubans, this is one of the places to go. Remember, at first the wait staff  will assume you speak spanish. That is standard Miami all around.

I went to Havana Miami with my Puerto Rican friend who insisted that the food was the "best" that Westchester had to offer.

    It was alright.

We went on a Monday evening and it wasn't very packed.  At his recommendation, my friend ordered the roast beef in wine sauce for me.  The dish came with black beans and rice and plantains.  The roast beef was served in the marinated sauce and was tasty but nothing extraordinary.  The black beans and rice were okay.  The plantains were okay.  Everything was okay.

It is a Cuban resturant, operated by Cubans.  We were immediately seated and given water and garlic bread.  However, it took a while for the waiter to ask us if we ready to order.

Overall, Havana Miami is an okay resturant.  The servings are well portioned and the prices are low ($6.25 to $8.00 for a plate).

This review is EXCLUSIVELY for one dish....the Ox Tail Stew.  Whenever I am in the Miami area I will drive, and drive far if necessary through the idiotic Miami traffic where people drive 40 MPH in the FAST lane and 90 MPH in the SLOW lane (can anyone say the average age in Miami is "near dead", give me a hell yeah).  Anyway,...I worship great Ox Tail stew.  I think when done correctly it is one of the best things in the world to eat.  Havana Miami Restaurant is one of those places that doesn't speak a word of English, and it shows in their wonderful Ox Tail stew.  I don't think one can speak fluent English and create this mouth watering orgasm of a dish. Drive far, do what you need to do to get there, make sure to order at least 2 dishes of the stuff and skip the rice....but remember...it is only served on TUESDAYS.  Tuesdays? Yes, Tuesdays .  MMMMM, Ox tail stew....HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I can't say there was anything really spectacular about this place.  It was just your run of the mill Latin food restaurant in Miami.   I think it has reasonable food at reasonable prices.  I haven't tried the lunch specials but the prices were actually very inexpensive.  If I worked around there I'd definitely go there for lunch based on the prices.

I love this place... Its a restaurant that you can tell its been there for a while because you have all your regulars, all the old cuban ladies & gentlemen. you also get a lot of large groups, like bussiness meetings & such. Oh & the dominoe's tournaments, cant forget those!!! it's decorated with beautiful oil paintings from local artist & also famous cuban painters, the paintings are available for purchase i beleive since they do have price tags on them. Ok now to the food... i find the food to be very good, the portions are pretty large for a cheap price. We normally go for lunch & always had left overs. My favorite is the vaca frita, its delicious! their flan is also really good & their cafe cubano of course is also  very good. that was my meal every time i went there. It does gets pretty packed, specially at lunch hour between working people going there for their lunch hour and the old cubans having their dinner @ 2pm it gets pretty packed but thankfully the restaurant is very large. they also have a bar area & an outside area which is where they play dominoes.
If you are ever in the area & you want some really good quality, low priced cuban food acompany with good service this is defenetly the place to go! between my husband and I we would spend $20 w/tip  & walk out of there stuffed having eat a 3 course meal...mariquitas, vaca frita, bistec de palomilla, 2 flan, 2 cuban coffee that was our order... ah cant wait to be near there again....

Good and reliable typical Cuban food at reasonable prices.  Nothing fancy here.  The service is good.  Never too packed, never a wait.  Good place to take the big family to. Huge parking lot righ in front of the restaurant and a nice old man watching the cars.  Go ahead give him a buck when you leave.  It's in my hood so when I want Cuban food, that's where I go.  Great "vaca frita"...
