The location is prime if you want to be close to Whiskey Row or Thumb Butte. The Inn is definately historic - rooms are small and if you are really tall your knees might hit the wall when you use the toilet. There is no frills with the hotel rooms - small tv's (but good range of stations) and small bathroom/showers. As soon as we walked into the hotel we were promptly greeted by a friendly bell hop and offered a ride in the historic elevator up to our room.

Overall: good location but definately a no frills Inn with coffee/tea in the morning (no cont  bkfst - but nice little restaurant attached - atleast good bkfst), simple workout room, no pool, free friday night music on the patio, historical feel.

Probably wouldn't recommend this place if you have kids and I got it through priceline so I feel that the price I paid was adequate for the Inn but would have been disappointed if I had paid full price.

I was told to give this a "2" on nostalgia alone.  Our experience was not good.  This was our second choice (apparently not learning from our first experience that we should not trust the 2009 Arizona Travel Guide).

The restaurant itself is quite historic and quaint.  We were excited to have a bit of a romantic dinner.  The fact that the place was empty should have been a red flag, but we thought it was simply the time of day (5 PM).

The service was terrible: courteous enough but not friendly and definitely not quick!!!  (Remember, there was only one other occupied table in the entire restaurant.)

My date had a Cajun pasta dish (which he said was barely average) and I had a fish dish (which was actually pretty good).  The food was very reasonably priced but apportioned smaller.

Unfortunately, the service was SO BAD, that we could not get past it to actually enjoy our meal.  We waited for everything, from bread, to water, to the main entree, and of course, to the check.  We could not get out of there fast enough.

We stayed here over 4th of July weekend. Was pleasantly surprised to be able to book a room at a discounted rate just a couple weeks out, as Prescott fills up fast on the holidays. As other reviewers have said, it it a quaint hotel with small rooms and an ancient elevator operated by the bellman. Friendly and helpful staff, for the most part, although no one seemed to be able to tell us where to pick up the shuttle that was available to the location where the fireworks display was going to occur. Seems to me, you need to know that kind of stuff for your visitors. Love the outdoor patio with a local jazz trio playing. Would have loved it more if the waitress had've been attentive at all - took forever to get drinks, refills, checks...
The best thing is that it is within walking distance to Whiskey Row and the rest of the square. Would stay here again if I can get the discount rate - sure beats driving to some of the other hotels in this town.

Adorable historic hotel with the cutest drive-through drop off loop I've seen in a long time.  Lobby is very charming, as is the narrow staircase up to your room (and historic elevator).

Rooms really are historic, but clean nonetheless.  Walls were somewhta thin too, but luckily we had a quiet corner room.

Complimentary breakfast was outstanding, especially the pancakes.  I would come here just for breakfast even if I wasn't staying in the hotel.

Parking isn't too bad across the street as long as you're in early.  Otherwise you may be stuck parking extremely close to another car and find an unwelcome dent in your door the next morning.

A little expensive for what you get.

This review is actually for the Peacock Room, the dining establishment inside the hotel - i did not stay here.

i had never been to this hotel, and the outside garden, sitting area was very nice - great rose bushes acted as backdrop for the obligatory father's day, post meal picture. dad, who's lived in prescott for over 20 years, told us that the lobby just had a million dollar renovation. it was nice, in the floral-y, antique-y grandma kind of way.

but...our dining experience was bad before we even got in the door - speakinf of the door, it was probably my favorite part of this expereince, and was very cool. it was all dark wood and glass, the original door from this 1920's hotel. etched into the glass was an image of a long, lanky (think Vogue fashion sketches from the flapper era) woman with a peacock head for a head. it's as bizarre and awesome as it sounds.

anyway, the hostess was pretty rude, even calling our party by the first and last name, only to question us when we showed up at her podium. she condedescendally (yeah, i made up a word) reminded us exactly which names she called, and we exasperatedly said, "yeah, that's us!" confused, she looked down and said, "oh, there's another party with the same first name." and then didn't meet our gaze again the rest of the time we waited, even when calling us for our table (for reals this time). i don't know why her not giving us eye contact after that bothered me so much. i guess rudeness, along with error, along with more rudeness and no apology for error in a relatively simple job really puts a bad taste in my mouth.

anyway, once we were seated i could see that this was probably considered fancy digs for prescott - which really isn't saying much, it can be pretty  trashy in theses parts despite all the recent growth and contemporary additions like...oh, you know del taco and real mall. anyway, the prices were fairly higher end, and you could tell they were trying real hard to be thought of as "fancy."

...but, the servers were frumpy (wrinkled, ill-fitting clothes), messy (makeup, hair) and not very professional. which makes me sound like a snob,  but it just bothered the already growing annoyance i had with this place seeming to want to appear a certain way, wanting to charge prices nice places warrant, but not really putting any effort toward *being* that nice place. and i was probably less tolerant than usual cuase i wanted my dad to have a nice meal.

they had been pretty busy when we first showed up, but by the time we ordered, about 1:30, the place had really cleared out. didn't seem to change the fact that it took nearly 45 minutes to get our food...which came out lukewarm (which is really impressive it lost all that heat despite coming out covered with one of those cheesy metal room serivice plate covers) and the hollaindaise sauce on my $10 eggs benedict was congealed - gross.

all in all, a very unprofessional, expensive and disappointing meal.
but,  that's ok, we made a family stop to the philipino willy wonka's candy and ice cream shop on whiskey row and it perked our spirits right up! as soon as i figure out the nameof the shop, i'll yelp review it up right for everyone...it's sooooo cool.

The Hassayampa Inn is very pretty.  The lobby, dining room, and bar are all just beautiful.

The rooms are a bit shabby and small, but nothing horrible.  There is no tub, just a shower, in the standard rooms.  This is understandable because when the hotel was built all the bathrooms were at the end of the hall.  They was are also a bit thin, which did not bother me but might bother a light sleeper.

I also note that the cable TV selection was quite good and that if you ask for the AAA rate you save about $10, but forgo the 'free' breakfast.

If you like charming, historic hotels with a resident ghost, Hassayampa Inn is for you.

Located on Gurley Street, the Hassayampa Inn has been around since 1927.  The rooms are nice, and the hotel itself is decorated with antique furniture.

The ghost story that goes along with this hotel is that a couple checked into one of their rooms way back in the day and the husband went out for cigarettes.  He never returned.

The wife waited for three days and never heard from him so she hung herself.  Now people report hearing crying and some have even said they've seen her holding flowers at the end of their bed.

If I saw something like that, I would probably have a heart attack and die.  And that's why I'm really glad nothing like that happened when I stayed there.  Although it didn't stop me from being kind of spooked the whole time.

If you are into ghost stories or just want to stay at a hotel with some Prescott history, check into the Hassayampa Inn.

Cheers to retirement, absent-mindedness and taking someone's sweet time... wait, i am only kidding...or am I?

For my boyfriend's birthday I opted for a romantic weekend away. I selected Hassayampa Inn because I needed a good out of town location to review, thus expanding my reviewed choices to other cities/towns.

I bought the romance package that included 2 nights stay, champagne (or other wineish beverage) chocolates, dinner in the Peacock Room for one night and complimentary breakfast in the Peacock Room each morning of our stay. This being said the entire trip was a bit expensive to say the least...anything for my boyfriend, right?

I booked my weekend 2 months in advance and I was told they had none of the suite rooms available for both nights, so we spilt our stay between two rooms, one jacuzzi suite on Friday and one 2 double bed suite on Saturday. The Jacuzzi was a cute blast from the past...i mean this was a real "Jacuzzi" brand whirlpool tub :)
The room was adorable and our first night was very nice.

The second night was a little disasterous. The front desk was late in delivering the wine and chocolates. When I booked my reservation I was given the option of having wine instead of champagne delivered to the room at a specified time (part of the romance package). I jumped on this because my boyfriend is allergic to champagne. I selected a Pinot Grigio (one of our favorites) as our wine. So the evening of the wine delivery we waited over an hour for our wine and chocolates to show up, feeling aggrevated I phoned the front desk assuming they thought we weren't in our room to receive the delivery. The front desk clerk admitted they were having troubles with their champagne and chocolates deliveries, she had no idea that we were waiting to receive ours. She wrote down what we wanted and said the bellman should be up in a few with the delivery. About 15- 20 minutes later there was a knock on the door, the bellman had our wine and chocolates. Alright, i think to myself, we've got our wine :-) I looked at the wine and noticed that it was a Pinot Noir so I flagged down the bellman before he left. I mentioned the type of wine was incorrect and he said, what? its still a Pinot..... too funny....(you could tell he was really stressed at the moment). At the end of this whole weird story we did receive our Pinot Grigio and we were satisfied, finally :)

I do have to remark that every time we had dealings with the people in the office, the bellman, the restuarant, and for that matter anyone associated with the hotel there were problems. They over billed me for the room, they almost gave our room away and the funny wine incident. Other than those select experiences we had a great time enjoying the old rustic hotel for its glory, coziness and holiday charm. Next time I will pack my patience and I will let someone else foot the bill! :-)

Lovely place, ok people. I held my wedding reception there in the Arizona Room, and it was perfect, no problems there. My husband and I stayed in the jacuzzi suite, which was very cool. They comped us part of the night's stay because we held our party there and it was part of the wedding package. But when I went to check out the next morning I was quoted full room price, so I had to take the time to get that fixed. My brother-in-law and his wife also stayed that night - in the so-called haunted patio room on the fourth floor. We were hoping something fun would happen to them but they reported nothing abnormal that night. If we weren't busy drinking beer in our jacuzzi we might have been tapping on their wall or making prank calls, lol.
