Came here on a Friday night at 6 or so for dinner with my mom, because she loves wings and beer. We were both satisfied with the place. Try the Holy Cow! chips, if you like hot sauce and blue cheese because they are amazing, but they do slather on the hot sauce (yum!). Our waitress was very nice and attentive, probably because it was rather dead that night, but at 6:00 what can you expect?

We were both a little disappointed that they actually do not have pitchers for beer, which we thought was really weird, but whatever. They have an okay selection of drafts, good for a Wrigley bar though, even though the Goose Island Seasonal was out, but what can you do, just pick another one.

I would probably not come here during baseball season cause it would probably get way over crowded, but off season, a nice place to sit and have a beer and some wings with you mom :)

Too expensive.
Too crowded.
Pretentious.
Overrated.
Why is it cheaper to buy a beer in the stadium? This is not a good place to hang before a game unless you want to fight for a table and be "bumped" into by old men. Frat boys, Cougars, Old men.... enjoy yourselves, it's all yours.

Ok..as  my thousands of fans know, I don't dig sports bar.

But, HC (that is short for Harry Carays) recently hosted a fund raiser for Chicago Canine Rescue.

Food was ok, staff was friendly.
They actually donated all the food and booze for the event.
Any place this generous to help a dog shelter gets my vote.
I would go back just because of that.
Oh, the drunk Lincoln Park chicks seem pretty easy also.
Enjoy!

I really liked this place. Granted I didn't go during a Cubs game when it's probably bananas but I did enjoy the short rib appetizer. And my friend enjoyed her food as well. I liked the multiple TV's and the service was decent. I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice sports bar to relax with friends.

Walking into this place is absolutely awesome - the pictures plastered each available piece of real estate demonstating his longevity among atheletes and stars.

The food was good - the mozz sticks were fresh and not frozen - however if he knows that the moon is made of cheese and he would slather it with BBQ sauce and wash it down with a cold Budweiser..

I love the chips that they bring out for you to snack on - midwest kettle chips speak to me like a devil woman temptress..

Overall, I will visit every time I come to Chicago.

It's like walking into your least favorite college bar, wherever that may have been.  The drinks are too expensive, it is waaaayy to crowded (I can forgive that somewhat since every time I've been is after a Cubs game, the staff is rude, & in general everyone is acting like as ass.  The old guys look out of place, the middle aged guys are trying too hard to fit in, & the frat boys are acting like asses.  The only positive was the appetizers.

Do yourself a favor & find another bar by walking north or west.  Most any you find will have a ton more character than Harry Carey's Tavern.

Long past its days as Hi-Tops, Harry Caray's now stands as one of Chicago's premier sports bars. The furniture is unscratched heavy wood, the TVs are large and in HD and Harray Caray's is a great spot to pre-game before the actual game. I rolled into Harry Caray's and shouldered my way past the pre-game crowd with a healthy dose of Brewers fans sprinkled in with the normal Cubby blue. I then slipped through the crowd and moved upstairs and grabbed an empty table overlooking Addison and Sheffield, with the bucket boys rattling off their beats in the distance, the PA system making an endless stream of commercial advertising, and a sea of moving blue caps and jersey shuffling into baseball's Mecca.

Out came my friend's girlfriend, who generously got four tickets in 200-level right into my hands. As a smile quickly ran across my face, I quickly enjoyed a Coor's Light to begin the pregame and helped myself to some Buffalo chicken tenders. Service at Harry Caray's was congenial and timely - when my other three friends hopped into the bar they were quickly greeted with a round of beers and the fries cooked in truffle oil brought french fries to new heights of greasy delight.

Harry Caray's is one of my favorite places to hang before or after a cubs game.  The bar has a nice feel to it, though it is alot smaller than some of the other places around like the Cubby Bear... little bit tamer crowd sometimes.

They have pretty good food too. I like the chopped salad and their other apps are also yummy.  The chips are not as good as the ones they serve at the taste unfortunately.... I crave those..

went to private party here, love the area, wouldn't recommend it for the price. food was served all at once at beginning of the party, was cold and hard after an hour. they really didn't have the staff to cover the amount of patrons all the drinks were watered down.... It would be a great place to take your out of town friends to, again, mostly because of the area...

As if it wasn't enough of a party at Wrigley already.

As soon as the last out was recorded, the thousands upon thousands of Cubs fans poured outside of the Friendly Confines and on to the Wrigleyville streets. Many of them made it into Harry Caray's Tavern, which was a sports bar unlike any other that I've ever been to. Despite the fact that it was a Wednesday afternoon and the Cubs lost to a team that they could care less about, if you had unknowingly wandered in here, you would have thought the Cubs had just knocked the Cards out of the playoffs or something. It was a fun place packed with what seemed like hundreds of Cubs fans.

The place was a bit loud and very crowded, but the food wasn't bad, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the DJ (yes, there was a DJ on a weekday afternoon) played the right stuff to get the crowd going. Apparently, I hear that this bar isn't even close to the best that Wrigleyville has to offer, which, I guess, shows how deprived we are here on the West Coast.

LOVE!

Perhaps it was the beer I had already consumed at Wrigley.
Perhaps it was the high from a Cardinals win.
Perhaps it was just that this place is awesome!

I admit I was skeptical - I mean, it IS Wrigleyville, after all.

But the line to get in moved quickly, and it was packed but not obnoxiously so.

Service was great.

Fellow patrons were fun.

Beers were cold.

Bathrooms were CLEAN.

Music and accompanying music videos on their 10,000 flat screen tv's was freaking fantastic and made me want to keep partying.

Great spot for some post-game partying that is douchebag free.  Didn't have the food, but observed it looking mighty good at other tables.

Yeah.  LOVE.

I love going to Cubs games and try to get to a few every summer. But so many of the bars surrounding the area are nothing but hipster hell holes.

I visited this place on May 5. Maybe it wouldn't have been so maddening if it wasn't Cinco De Mayo but I guess this day is just another excuse for maddening hipsters to flock to Wrigleyville bars. It was packed ass to butt and annoying music blaring so loud I couldn't think. Blah.

I've had 3 similar mediocre experiences at Harry Caray's.

The service has been spotty (if not rude) all three times, but I will probably keep coming back because a) they have a million TVs, and b) it is probably the cleanest bar in the area.

Just one question.  Why must all of your TVs be tuned to Georgia Bulldogs scrimmage, red vs. black?  It is APRIL, we do not need to be watching college football while there are baseball games going on!   Granted, the Cubs weren't playing at the time but there were other games going on around the league.

Did you hear that?  I think it was Harry rolling over in his grave.

Meh... I'm sorta unimpressed by the Club deal in Wrigleyville.  When I think of Harry Caray I don't think of a place like this.  I think more of a neighborhood bar thats not outrageously priced.  Believe me I know its wrigleyville, but this place is just blah-zay.

This place is good for the tv's, in my opinion it's the best place to go in Wrigley with so many tv's and view different sporting events-Yet I have noticed that a couple tv's were out-

Food is ok, this place would be a lot better if they had some of the items from the downtown location; their carving station and at least bring a pasta or steak item to the menu-The BBQ pizza and toasted ravioli's are pretty good, only thing I eat when I'm there-Their chips suck at this location, they are soggy and do not taste like the downtown version, we get them without the nasty toppings that this location does-

Service is ok, it seems they don't hire enough waitresses, they seem slammed most of the time-

After games and on the weekends they remove every table in the place, which sucks b/c sometimes you want to sit down and eat and you can't or they boot you out of your seat while you are eating-

The bathroom attendant are a joke....why on earth would you need a bathroom attendant in Wrigley? I think they are outdated anyway-

This place doesn't want to be like the typical bars in Wrigley so they charge more to keep it that way but if they are going to do that they should hire more waiters, better bartendars and add some of the menu  items they have at the downtown location-

I honestly should have known better.  Just going to a Cubs game would have been enough Wrigley..  This was the loudest place I've been that wasn't a rock show and wasn't a nightculb.  The place was near empty (game had started) but they had the TV broadcast turned up to 11. So loud.  Girl behind bar was a ditz.  Visible draft beers were insipid, I asked if there were bottles, she said "yes" and stood there.  I asked if I could maybe see a menu, she gave the impression that that would be really hard.  A bunch of swill on the menu.  How can you have 30 beers, all swill?  I opted for the least swilly, 312, which was out of stock.  2nd choice, Miller Lite. "5.25" she said. "4.25" I said, pointing to the menu, clearly stating 4.25.  "We raise the prices a dollar on game days."  There is a REVERSE HAPPY HOUR.

It's true, I have had waayyy better. However, I was surprised at how un-douchy this place was before a cubs game...and I am pretty judgemental (oopsies), so that is saying a lot;) Trouble is, Harry Caray's was serving $4 bottles of bud light, and $5 bottles of corona. Really? That is kind of a lot of money for some shit beer. I thought we could save some money by drinking here first, then going to the stadium - I guess we did save a bit (ahem, $6.50 Old Styles in Wrigley), but by that point I was just full of crap beer and kept it flowin'.  I bet this bar would be better on an off game night - but it isn't my type of place, so I guess I will never know...

Came here on a Friday night around 11ish...entrance was surrounded by smokers. Ick. At least there was no cover.

This was a typical bar scene with a tiny dance floor in the way back. I wasn't really that impressed. The music was all right, nothing super-special. At least there are plenty of tables and seats. I didn't find a coat check any where, but I guess I wasn't trying very hard to.

My friends had $25 all-you-can-drink bracelets, and I'm not sure any of the drinks they got had any alcohol in them. Really weaksauce watered down drinks. Yuck...

I didn't have much fun here - probably won't be back here any time soon.

It's a bar right across the street from Wrigley Field.  What do you want Foir Gras and vintage Champagne?

The beer was cold, the place was clean and the cocktail service was attractive.  We ate buffalo wings and sliders and - why not, buffalo-wing-sliders?

They passed out free cookies too, what's not to love?

The best part?  You can even hear the roar of the crowd 3 seconds before you watch the play on the HD TV.

DANCING?  YOU'RE KICKING US OUT FOR DANCING?

Ladies and gentleman, Harry (rest his soul) is turning over in his grave.  At this latest incarnation in the budding HCRG empire, my friends and I arrived to have a few beers, get some grub, and enjoy the game.  And we were having a good time until.....

Bitchy Server: "Ok, you guys need to move soon"
Us: "Why?"
Bitchy Server: "Because it's almost the 7th inning"
Us: "And why does that matter?"
Bitchy Server: "We close this area after the 7th inning and turn it into a dance floor"
Us: (Doing the are you f'ing kidding me stare): "Are you f'ing kidding us?"

So they booted us from our tables (we were eating, drinking, and having a vendor with a corporate card paying...bad move), converted the back area into a dance floor that nobody danced on, and when the game ended and the entire bar  was ready to sing 'Go Cubs Go', mouths open ready to sing "Baseball season is underway...", they cut the audio feed and start playing some pop/top-40 Madonna mega mix sh*t.

WHAT

FU*K

I had dinner with a couple of friends at Harry Caray's Tavern on a Thursday night and overall it was "OK."  We decided to sit outside and it was definitely a prime "people watching" spot.

This is quite a bit different than the original Harry Caray's - expect more "bar food" along with Harry's signature Chicken Vesuvio.

The one thing I really liked was the "build your own burger" option.  They had several options for meat (turkey, veggie, various "types" of beef), toppings, and buns (pretzel buns YUM).  The fries were nice and crispy as well and the pasta salad was quite good.

However, our server definitely was inattentive to our table.  We had a hard time getting our bill and getting refills.  That being said, this would have been a 4-star review if the service was better.

Expect the usual Wrigleyville crowd - my one friend at dinner with us made a statement that sums it up: "Is it a requirement to live in this neighborhood and don a Cubs shirt and cargo shorts?"  She was right because that was the "uniform" for a good majority of the tavern's patrons.  Typical Wrigleyville so just know to expect it.

Sooo pretty inside - a huge leap up from what was formerly Hi-Tops.  Beautiful wood a-plenty - didn't feel like typical Wrigleyville inebriation.  It was pretty classy.

Although there's a line immediately post-game, the line moves quickly, and after the initial rush, there's no line at all.  The dance area isn't quite Hi-Tops, no high stages and no girls taking off their tops and grinding on each other (hey if that's your thing, there are still plenty of those places).

Pre-game, it's pretty crowded as well, a place where many fans flock in jubilant anticipation.  I wouldn't mind catching a game here if I can't score tickets and having something to eat.  Post-game, we had pizza and wings, both were good.

Bar food is definitely a step above - it's not cheap, but doesn't taste cheap either.  There are still beer bottles floating in massive tubs, but nice taps and bars as well.  Upstairs - no batting cages but rather another good bar with additional bathrooms, always a plus.

The crowd was better than at maybe 75% of pre/post game hangouts - it's a welcome improvement from Hi-Tops.

I'm not a fan of this place.  The beer/food is overpriced (even for Wrigleyville!)  I've never been impressed by the service either.  This place lacks everything which makes its big brother in River North great (Free chips, Great steaks, Friendly service, and a bit of class)  Unless your stumbling back towards the Red Line after a Cubs game and happen to end up here I would say avoid this place.  There are PLENTY of better bars in the area.

My neighborhood is a tourist trap.  It's okay.  I'm over it and now thrive on it.  I love the buzz before and after a Cubs game!  Although I never went to HiTops (it looked a bit trashy) I couldn't wait to get into this place when it opened!

I came her for my birthday the first time.  Just drinks.  But yeah!!  Sam Adams AND Goose Island Summer Ales on tap?  This place has already won me over.  The bartender is so nice - Tori.  She's the one we watch for when we come back.  So friendly, remembers you and is very attentive.

Came back for lunch once playing hooky from work.  The GF had a pizza which was really good surprisingly!  I had a chicken panini that was pretty good and I love the option for the mayo-free pasta salad as opposed to fries.  Perfect for a hot summer day and trying to not eat too heavy.

The last time we came here we had a blast as usual.  Same bartender, Tori, who rocks.  Got the Sam Summers and watched the away game on the giant TV.  Talked it up with the bartenders a bit and got dragged on the dance floor by some straight chicks who kept hitting my ass...uh, no I will not be your funny lesbian experience when you wake up tomorrow.  Jeez.

I have to admit, I was kinda "huh" about the dance floor towards the end of the game but apparently it's known here.  The DJ was actually really good at mixing different things.  The only complaint I've had so far is the GF jokingly told another bartender that we would be more than happy to let him experiment with different shots if he felt like mixing something weird up.  What does he give us?  A lemon drop!?  I think I know what that is!  I almost wanted to tell him to take it off my tab but they're all so nice there I can argue!

I avoid this place during Cubs home games but every 3 or so away games you'll find us on barstools perched in front of Tori!  Come pull up a seat...it's a great place to watch the game.

This place was so fun! It was packed to the rim with Cubs fan and is the perfect place post game. Lucky for us, the night we went was Game 3 of the NBA Finals and the Lakers won. We (3 females) were Lakers fan in a sea of Celtic fans were heckled left and right, but still managed to have a good time in between the game and the good music (I'm talking Pharcyde and old school Michael Jackson).

Anyway, super crowded but still worth a trip!

Horrible service.  Went here for dinner last night.  I asked what they had on tap and she went to grab me a list because she obviously didn't know, and took off for 10 minutes before returning to ask what I wanted (I would have known within seconds of glancing at the list).  Then she brings me a water?  How does Blue Moon translate to 'water'?  I was also 100% sober, so it wasn't like she was trying to give me a hint of some sort.

So I order the Caprese Panini.  Everyone's food comes out and she hands me a chicken sandwich?  I nicely told her that it wasn't what I ordered.  She told me they were out of the Caprese Panini, so she ordered the Chicken Panini for me.  Of course!  Thanks for making that decision for me!

She brings me the menu and I ordered a burger instead.  Everyone else had finished their food by the time mine came out.   She brought me a beer  'on the house' to make up for it.  Gee, thanks.  I should have just had her wrap my burger to go.

Someone else in our group ordered a burger medium-well and the thing looked and tasted like cardboard.

I give them one star for the buffalo chips and 1 star for a parking space right out front.

The only time I'll ever find myself here again is if I am forced to stumble in after a Cubs game because the group I'm with just has to go.   But you can bet I'll try to convince them to go somewhere else first!

Three stars demoted to two.  Two stars only because our servers were cool as hell.

Went here after the marathon last Sunday night for a juicy & greasy burger and fries.  The place was not even close to busy.  It took almost a half hour to get our appetizer.  Calamari...30 minutes...really?  Thank god the waitress brought us some chips in the meantime on the house because I told her I was going to eat my shirt if I didn't see food soon.  I was THAT hungry.

Finally our burgers came with cold fries after about 40 minutes.  Both were overcooked to past well done.  I was so hungry I didn't care.  My girlfriend couldn't stand how dry it was so she sent it back.  A couple minutes later a newly overcooked burger appeared.  We gave up at that point and asked to have it taken off our bill.  The servers were great about it, but how do you mess up a burger twice in a row?  I quote our server "its hit or miss here" ugh.

Points for:
* Great staff
* Great atmosphere, very open
* Very clean (except right after Cubs games)

Points against:
* This used to be Hi-Tops, where all Cubs tourists and suburban Applebees-types went after Cubs games.  Now they are infiltrating other bars in the area.  Oh, the horror.

All in all, it is what you would expect.  Cubs games - packed.  Good food on a limited menu.  However, it is a bar first, so go somewhere else for food during a Cubs home game.

Well, I like this place. Until I was told I couldnt come back inside. Someone falls outside and all of a sudden they cant come back in. I could still walk. Sort of. They could have just propped me up in the corner and gave me a drink to nurse. Thats what most bars do. Im harmless. Im a lover. My knee was bleeding.
Ok seriously. I enjoyed a cubs game here one Friday and had a great time. The drinks were good for the wrigleyville hood, I mean the pours were very substantial.....which led to my demise. It gets crowded after games, but if you go just to watch, its pretty open, especially upstairs. I will be back, but I may have to go incognito so they will let me back in .

I went with a group of friends to Harry Caray's Tavern before a show that Metro - and it was AMAZING!!

I personally had a Turkey Burger from the burger bar - and while my friends laughed that I put everything but the kitchen sink on my sandwich - it was perfect and exactly how I wanted it. I am a strong believer that anything is better on a pretzel roll - so thanks to Harry's for offering them!!

Not only did I love MY dinner, I actually took home my friends carry-out bags of Chicken Vesuvio Pizza - even yummier the next day!!

I plan to go back before even more shows and games in the future. The place has a great location and even better atmosphere - an upscale place where I can get great food, great drinks, and still watch games - perfect in my book!

Went here with a large group of girls last Saturday night, literally around 11:00pm and this place was NOT our speed at all. I'm sure the food is good and it's probably an awesome place to watch a game, but I would not recommend it as a "going out" place. It was pretty low energy and there were too many turtlenecks for my taste. If it was a Tuesday night..I get it. But this was Saturday night.

I agree that it seems touristy as well. I suppose we'll have to wait until the summer to see if the Cubs breathe some life into this place.

This just a typical place to go to before or after a Cubs game. The place gets very crowded with rowdy Cubs fans so if you want a place to sit you better get there early. I have also been there to watch some football games when its not so crowded. The food is pretty good. The chicken tenders and Holy Cow chip with blue cheese and hot sauce hit the spot. The service is ok. With so may people shoved into this place it was hard to get our server to our table.

I'm going to give my preliminary review of this place before it opens up for real:

Sweetness:
-The layout for sports is awesome. They have a giant projection that looks as good as a 50 inch plasma. There must be 30 50 inchers in there. Even two 32 inch lcds above urinals! This is important.

-Menu looks awesome. Burger bar is ingenious. Quality of the material the menu comes on is UNPRECEDENTED in bar circles (think something you could take notes on). It's one slab, two sides. Genius.

-Lots of wood.

-The bathrooms have an external co-ed sink. Probably looking forward to baseball season.

-Staff were making sure to get to know the people coming to the bar

The Umms:
-Staff sort of screamed TOURIST BAR! to me. Just coming back from Vegas, it felt too similar.

-Too wide open for a weekend bar.

-The LCDs in the urinals seem to be there mostly for the guys in the back waiting in line rather than the guy unloading, as the viewing angles are not good. Should have went for the mini tvs.

Trying to decide what rating to give this place was rather tricky.

First, our soda.  I don't often drink soda, but when I decide to waste precious calories on it, I want it to be awesome.  It didn't matter how many times the waitress refilled our drinks, it always seemed watered down.  It was almost like they kept a stock of Coke with ice in the back and just brought it out when your drink was empty.

Second, our burgers.  Meh, they were okay.  They were huge, so I guess if you're starving and don't need quality, this will do you well.  I only ate half of mine, and that's more than I probably should have had.  If I want a burger I'll stick with White Castle, mmm!  At least the fries they served were awesome.  I ate all my fries and parts of the hubs' because they were soooo good!

Third, the service.  We went in the middle of the afternoon on a day the Cubs were not playing.  There were maybe 6 other tables with two people each.  It was very empty but by God where was our waitress!?  She'd appear out of nowhere and then disappear forever.  Speaking of waitresses, is there a box on the application that says must be blonde with the stink eye face non-stop?!  They all looked pissed off at the world and walked around like they were the shit.  Well, I'm here to tell you, you're not, mmmkthanx.

Lastly, I'm sure I'll be dragged back here, it's in the neighborhood and well the fries are awesome.  I won't go back for a burger though, no thanks.

Considering this place used to be Hi-Tops, I went in with pretty low expectations. But to my surprise, the inside is actually quite nice. The back of the bar has skylights, which adds the unusual presence of natural light in a sports bar.

If you've ever been to Harry Caray's restaurant, it follows the same dark-wood-and-brass decor - just executed as a bar. Keeping with the tradition of the Caray-themed eateries, a lot of attention is paid to the details. Allegedly, the bar is exactly 60 feet long, the same distance from home plate to the pitchers mound.

Was I wowed? No, not really. But it's a good place to watch the Cubs game and maybe grab some grub. And there's lots of memorabilia to keep you occupied during commercials.

Likes: Harry Caray reminiscing, buffalo wings, bartender from ISU who tried to serve me a non-alcoholic St. Pauli's, and for some reason I remember liking the bathrooms.

Dislikes: The rest of the food, when seating is packed and you have to sit in the front and the sun is beaming in, and the rest of the bartenders.

Ok, so there are those who may disagree with me, but I really liked Hi-Tops. I mean, where else did you get a sports bar in the front with a dance club (complete with raised dancing platforms) in the back? Hi-Tops was the greatest.

This is now sort of like a "yuppified" version of Hi-Tops, with WAY more TVs and WAY less dancing. It's weird. Verdict is out on if it'll grow on me...
