"Discount for birthday dinners! Good food and great service! Very family friendly. We (group of 6) dined here last night and it was nice.…" read more »
I had lunch at Harry Caray's today. The service was really awful. I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before one of the servers (not the bartender) finally came over and asked if she could get me a drink. It wasn't particularly busy. There were maybe about 6 people total at the bar and the tables about 40% filled. I thought the lunch menu was way overpriced. I ordered the burger, which was huge - probably an inch and quarter thick. It showered my hand with grease every time I took a bite into it. The meat was perfectly cooked, but it was way too salty, as were the fries. The fries were nothing to speak of - kinda mushy and not very hot.
The bar had lots of flat screen TV's, although they had them hooked up to analog cable, so the pictures were not that clear.
I presume the "real" Harry Caray's in downtown Chicago is better! This suburban business park outlet attached to the Holiday Inn Select (tells you something!) is but a carbon copy, one hopes.
Still it is OK. I was here on business arriving late on a Friday and flying out on a Sunday. I had dinner at the bar on Friday night, and a drink on Saturday night...both times the service was not very attentive, though I did get an extra glass of wine from the server after I mentioned that the ahi appetizer was less than expected.
Note! I have had some stellar seafood in Chicago, but not here. (See some of my other reviews for awesome seafood and steak in Chicago!)
At this restaurant, the Ahi (or Yellowfin) appetizer seems like it has been sitting around pre-plated, plus the quality of the tuna is not prime and some of it has lots of connective tissue - had to cut some of it with a knife! The crab cake appetizer is fine....Overall - proabably better to go with red meat at this establishment. OK if you are staying at the Holiday Inn Select attached to this restaurant...but for a really good meal try the Rosewood nearby!
If you've never been to a Harry's, don't let the Holiday Inn and the other buildings crowding it in, nor the enormous bar area just inside, fool you into thinking this is just another TGIF or hyped up sports bar and grill. A bar is a bar, but once you are seated in the diningroom and see the menu and sample some of their best items, it quickly becomes apperant that this is going to be an experience notches above the other chains. Their wine list could use a shot in the arm, but what they have is good. Can't remember the name of the server, but she was sweet and gracious and charming. One of the highlights was the fig gelatto they have brought in every day. So good, I brought 2 containers home. Just one of the memorable flavors they feature. Nice place to have a relaxing dinner after a show at the Allstate Arena, which is just down Manheim.
BTW - There is also a Nick's Fish Market just a hop, skip and a jump away, so you have an alternative to steak. See my review for Nick's.

Service was good--when they bothered to check in on us. And the food was ok, although my steak was not as warm as it could have been.
Seating/tables were close together and I felt as if I was in the line of traffic all night. Acoustics not very good and, if you go with a large group, make sure you are sitting next to the three people you want to be able to have a conversation with--you won't be able to hear those at the other end of the table.
Maybe its because this restaurant is attached to a Holiday Inn, but the dress was way too casual--lots of t-shirts, high-tops and stone washed jeans. Might be ok for a work dinner, but depends on who are taking there. THis is not a place to go if you want to impress your clients.

The food here is pretty good , plenty of room , a good place to have some drinks and hit the menu.
It's surprising to find this restaurant inside the Marriott, or so it seems. You can't really go wrong with the food at Harry Caray's, but it's one hell of an expensive lunch... I came to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in a while. I ordered the scallop special and I can't remember what my friend had. He finished everything on my plate, and I was pretty stuffed. My scallops came on a bed of sweet potato and these thinly fried scallions. It was very tasty and flavorful. They have great service here. If I feel like splurging or I'm not paying, I'll come back again.
Stuck around O'Hare and have no clue where to go for some good food? Harry Caray's has some great entrees and sandwiches made fresh and hot to order. This place is perfect for business lunches - they move fast and the service is wonderful. (I've got to say this) HOLY COOOOW is their Chicken Vesuvio good! The prices on their lunch menu are very reasonable and their portions offer great value.
Seating is usually available without reservation (a big plus for that last minute lunch idea). If you don't mind sitting in the roomy bar area, feel free to nosh on their awesome homemade potato chips scattered in heaping helpings all around the bar. Lunch here is definitely a home run! *rimshot*

Actually, 3 1/2 Stars: Harry Caray's - adjacent to the Holiday Inn (not the Marriott) just one exit from O'Hare Airport on Higgins Road is one of three locations in the greater Chicagoland area. Typical pricing for this type of Chop House restaurant - pork chops start at $21.95 with steaks & Rib Eyes going up to $39.95+. Even though I have eaten here numerous times, I have never eaten in the restaurant - always in the bar. As a matter of fact, at the bar. There are multiple flat screen TV's at the bar and around the room - and yes, acoustics do not lend themselves to intimate conversations - reminds me of the "body-bars" in San Fransisco in the 90's. Last night I ordered a Knob Creek on the rocks (yes, they have a full bar) and the Veal Marsala ($22.95). As always - a basket of fresh, hot rolls was my appetizer (delicious) and my meal was brought within 10 minutes. Finished up with a steaming cup of fresh coffee and multiple conversations with both locals and other guests staying in the hotel. All in all, a great "hotel" restaurant. If Harry were still alive - he would still be saying, "Holy Cow"!.
Stopped in for dinner after an exciting day at the motorcycle show at the convention center. We got here right when the dining room opened and there was no wait. Good chips at the bar, yum. The service was on par and the food was delicious. My filet was a tad to close to medium for a medium rare, but it was forgivable. I think there are plenty of amazing steak restaurants in Chicago that overshadow this one...but if you are in the burbs, not a bad place to check out.

Been here once , the decor is really nice , the server was really nice. My kid was in a bad mood and she tried to be nice and cheer him up. The calamari was tasty , but it was very large calamari, like the size of onion rings ,which I found unsettling. The bread was really fresh and tasty. I got the Chicken Vesuvio , which was the best vesuvio I ever have eaten. The prices are really high , but I knew that getting into it. I could see myself going back there , but I haven't been yet.
I don't know, maybe it's me. They are a very nice restaurant and a sentimental fave with Chicagoans because of the late, great Harry Caray. But this place did not really stand out for me. The appetizers and most dinner items seemed overpriced, and the food was good, not great. However the ambience and the excellent staff are something to rave about.
