Good food, good coffee, good atmosphere. We sat outside on a busy Sunday during the brunching hours. Servers were running around but never unpleasant. They only came to the table to take our order and bring our bill. No checking in otherwise. I'll forive them as it was so busy; that was the only knock on this place.

So, in sum:
Food: 4 stars
Coffee: 4 stars
Setting: 4 stars
Service: 3 stars

Harris café is a perfectly decent brunch option in Fairhaven.    Though very popular and busy on the weekends, service is efficient.  The wait for a table, or for your orders to arrive at the table, is fairly short.  Note: there is no bar seating.

The menu seems to be a paean to eggs.  Aside from the hamburger and other lunch-type options, all the menu items start out "Eggs.."

They did have a biscuits and gravy special.  We asked if the gravy included rosemary but our waitress assured us that if the gravy included rosemary the readerboard would have listed rosemary.  Still, we asked our waitress to check with the cooks anyway.  She came back to confirm that the gravy did contain rosemary.

That being the case, JP ordered an eggs-benedict style dish with salmon.  It was okay, but the chipotle sauce it had didn't contain much flavor.  I had the eggs with potatoes and "Black Forest Ham".  The ham was decent but it looked like a chunk of Spam.

The potatoes were interesting.  They were sliced and had a baked-potato (not fried) quality and were seasoned with chives but not anything else it seems, even salt.  The potatoes were original in style, but not what I would call stellar.

By the way, the Mimosas are served stiff as a board at Harris Cafe.   It's the first time I have ever had alcohol in the morning.  I guess I'm not gung-ho on the concept of daytime drinking because of the drowsiness it induces.

I remain of the school of thought that one waits until sundown to drink!

Agree with the general Yelp consensus - Harris Avenue Cafe is solid for breakfast. We ordered the vegetarian huevos rancheros (add a side of potatoes) and an omelette with tons of veggies and fresh basil. Both were great and served fast.

It is a small cafe so there could be a little bit of a wait, and despite the adjoining coffee shop, the drip was just average.

I've had their food before and it is great. This last time I went in, I asked to get a table where I could plug in my laptop. The waitress said, "He doesn't let people plug in." Now I'm at Skylarks and will be spending my dollars here. Five stars on food + one star on computer friendly = avg 3 stars.

Great food. Great coffee. Cool staff. This is my favourite laid back casual place to go for something eggy. I wish there was a place this good in my neighbourhood.

I really like this place. I was treated to breakfast here recently and was very enthralled with menu- Breakfast or Lunch- Breakfast or Lunch- It all looked so good. I settled on a lean breakfast of over-easy eggs, English muffin, and seasoned potatoes.

Too bad but- My eggs were undercooked and my seasoned potatoes were covered with fresh herbs- which I love!- but seemed to be lacking salt and pepper. My meal was only $5 though- which seemed amazing compared to Seattle prices. My dining companions meals looked and tasted much better than mine. A lunch of broccoli and cheddar soup, BLT, and yam clips was to die for. The other entree of a hash and eggs with chirizo was quite tasty. I had bits of the entrees and was impressed.

I think I was punished because I didn't splurge on my meal and get something with more calories. I also got the feeling that next time my exact meal would have been good. Maybe they were a little off today. I like that Harris Street has health conscious things on their menu and also the opposite. They are connected to Tony's Coffee which is great while you are waiting for a seat.

Delicious food and warm staff.

My wife and I (we're from Los Angeles) ducked into the Harris Avenue Cafe with my brother, his wife, and their new baby son (from Mount Vernon), and we enjoyed a great lunch.

The food was excellent -- I had the chicken salad sandwich and a cup of Thai curry soup.  My wife had the Gardenburger (actuallly a Boca Burger), which came with the BEST yam chips.  My brother the hamburger and his wife the grilled cheese.

The staff even brought out a small plate of diced fruit for my nephew, and he got his first taste of pear.

A great spot for a diner-ish feel, and really good food.

My wife and I went there recently as we were doing a road trip around the state.  Not only did I like my breakfast very much -- I was impressed by the achievement it represented.

I don't know about you, but one of the things I've noticed is that sometimes, an item on a menu will list its ingredients, which will *sound* very good, but when you get the dish it... disappoints, somehow.  Either the balance will be off, or the punch one hopes for from the ingredients simply isn't there.

I was very happily surprised by the Sitka Omelette at Harris Ave.  My memory of the main ingredients were smoked salmon, feta cheese, whole cloves of roasted garlic, and a pesto sauce.

It was superb.  Very ingredient distinct, yet flavorful in its own right.  Nothing lost in the background noise of the others, yet each complementing the others.

My wife had the french toast with blueberries, with a generous side helping of fresh fruit.  She was just as pleased.

I can hardly wait until our next visit to Fairhaven.

I enjoyed a warm breakfast here on a dreary day. It is small and cramped, but they have a wonderful breakfast menu with all the usual, omelets, potatoes, french toast, pancakes (cornmeal), Bacon, Oatmeal, etc. I can personally attest to the pancakes, they were very good and the cornmeal was interesting, but I was hoping the blueberries would be cooked inside, not just on top. All in all, a good experience, good coffee and refills. But I know it's not the best breakfast in town.

The Harris is kind of expensive, but you can substitute tofu for eggs.  Tony's coffee is a plus, and they are good about refilling your cup. The oatmeal is good too, and the fruit plates are colorful and delicious.

By far my favorite spot for brunch in Bellingham. The space is shared with Tony's Coffee House so not only is the coffee good but the the place smells like a real cafe. I almost always get the french toast with fruit but oatmeal is quite good as well.

Great Breakfast place with an interesting menu combinations of egg and potato based dishes (plus french toast and pancakes) you won't find anywhere else. Tried some of the potato based dishes and they were very good.  Went with my son and he loved his breakfast dish (can't remember the exact dish name but it had potatoes with eggs, cheese and Black Forest ham).  He was craving a decent breakfast especially after 2 months of dorm food.  Not inexpensive but it was definitely worth a return trip because of the food and service.  The place is not very big and is combined with Tony's coffee so you might have a wait on the weekends for breakfast.  Didn't try it for lunch but again the menu looked interesting and will merit a return visit.
