This was the last leg of our honeymoon trip traveling through New England for the fall foliage. The Inn is old but very welcoming and cozy. Front desk staff were very kind and courteous, and offered great suggestions for things to do the next day. We stayed in the original main house, and our room was a king suite. Very large room with a comfy king bed, a real fireplace with ample wood, a large bathroom with oversized tub, and a huge cabinet that hid a minibar, sink and small fridge. Favorite part about the room was the fireplace, house keeping made sure the fire was pre-assembled each morning so we wouldn't have to struggle when we lit the fire. Upon arrival to our room, we had a large gift basket congratulating us on our wedding. Fruits, cheese, crackers, and chocolates. Another nice touch!
Our package included a free breakfast for each of us both mornings in the main dining room. The spread was awesome, we wish we weren't watching our weight! They offered afternoon tea, complete with cookies, sandwiches, fruit, cheese, etc. The room was packed both days with all the guests pretending to be English and proper.
The first night we ate at the Broad Arrow Tavern after reading great reviews on Yelp. We both ordered the Lobster Bake, which started with a cup of clam chowder (the best we've ever had), and finished with a large whole lobster on top of gigantic steamed clams. The lobster was delicious, so sweet and succulent, but the clams were a bit too organic for us. They still had a gross brown arm attached to them. They were under cooked a bit, reminded us of oysters (yuck). But otherwise, the meal was really good. Second night we ate at a sushi place up the street. Very good and fresh, but still couldn't beat our local hang out back home.
We got out of the cute outlet shopping town that is Freeport and took a short drive to Portland on our second day. Since it was the off-season, most excursions weren't running, but we managed to jump on a lighthouse cruise for an hour. That was very nice, we got to see 5 historical lighthouses and hear all about the harbor. Also had the best lobster roll at a small eatery right next to where we boarded for the cruise.
The Harraseeket Inn was a nice place to stay, definitely go so you can do some awesome outlet shopping, have a good dinner at the Broad Arrow Tavern and go back to your room to relax by the real fire! And make sure to check out Portland too, another fun little city.
Great hotel. Excellent value. Clean rooms. Very high quality bed linens. Nice indoor pool. The casual restaurant was very good. Great staff. Perfect location.
Stayed here for 3 weeks on an IT training gig my employer paid for. Classy, tons of New England charm, quiet and impeccably clean! I was very impressed with the breakfast buffet.Walking distance to 'downtown' Freeport, and very close to the Interstate.Only grip is that the snow blowers would frickin BURY my car in the morning! #$%@!
One of the best Inns I've stayed in.

Awesome typical New England atmosphere. In center of town. Amazing sea food. Their clam chowder is unlike anything I have tasted before. They had a very extensive buffet along with a great a la carte menu. I had their lobster sandwich. I don't think I have ever had such amazing lobster in my entire life. If you are driving through Maine or going to check out LL Bean and the outlets this is something you deffinately can not miss!!
I had the pleasure of staying here on business. What a lovely choice (thanks Boss!). We ate at the Broad Arrow Tavern each day, and the food was absolutely excellent and selection impressive. Each morning we had the breakfast buffet --yum. And the afternoon tea was perfect as well. Loved my room and the hotel facilities. Nice indoor pool to relax. Location is a short walk to shopping. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will be a repeat customer for sure!
If someone where to offer to take me to any restaurant in Maine where would I go?? Hands down it would be the Broad Arrow Tavern at the Harraseeket Inn! You will pay for this food but man it is so worth it! From beginning to end you will love your time in this one of a kind Tavern in Freeport Maine! All the food is from right here in Maine to! The staff is very helpful in telling you just what is on the menu and how it is cooked! And no rush you stay as long as you like! So give yourself a treat and check it out!!
Broad Arrow Tavern probably had an off day, judging from the previous reviews. I stopped in for lunch on my way to northern Maine. There were only a handful of tables occupied but it still took a ridiculously long time to seat me, and then get me a menu and some water. I ordered a diet Coke, clam chowder and crabcakes. After waiting 20 minutes, I received my soda and the clam chowder which was ladled out of a large pot (most soups are pre-made...how could it have taken so long?!?) It was salty and full of potatoes. After waiting another 10 minutes, I had to flag down the server and ask for my crabcakes wrapped to go as I needed to get moving. Not only was the server slow, she didn't even ask if everything was ok or bring me any takeout utensils when I asked. If she was even a little more attentive, it would have saved my meal experience, and this review. Eating the crabcakes later, my reaction was "eh". This place is nothing special, food was unimpressive and service was atrocious.

Oh lovely Maine. As a Californian, almost anything in Maine is romantic to me. Maine is everything you expect New England to be. The houses are adorable and the people are not first in line to have a Coach purse or plasitc surgery, truly refreshing and I am envious of their lack of the 'rat race'.
Ok, so the restaurant, the Broad Arrow at the Harraseeket Inn was very nice. Remember this isnt high class food, but it is very good. They had Chateau St. Jean Merlot on the menu which is always a plus for me.
There is always a wait, but have a drink and relax, enjoy your company. The couple in front of us was totally miffed by a 25 minute wait. I dont get it. Maybe they really dont want to hang out with one another.
We ordered the mussels and they were awesome. Smothered in butter and garlic. Very tender and the portion was voluminous.
We also orderd a salad each. I had the Caesar and hubby had the Spinach, Both were delicious, but the word of the day is voluminous....HUGE!
We thought about canceling our entree but since we were on vacation we decided against it. We went less sohpisticated and order the fish and chips and the white pizza. The fish and chips were awesome. hardly breaded and fell apart in your hands...perfect. The pizza was pizza, but very good.
The service was polite, sweet and on time.
All in all, we had a lovely time and would come back if we ever find ourselves as far from San Diego as you can get ever again. We do love Maine!
