This review is for the hotel only.

The only reason I stay here as often as I do is because 1) I often travel on early morning flights and need a cheap place to stay the night before and 2) I signed up for their gambling card and get a lot of free nights or discounted stays.

If I have a business trip and need to stay downtown, I usually stay here because of the Harrah's card discounts and comps.  Just note that their airport shuttle to the hotel ENDS at 10 pm, so don't count on a free shuttle ride if you get in after the bewitching hour.  Not something you want to hear after 14 hours of plane travel.

The renovated rooms themselves are actually very, very nice.  Beautiful decorations and decent room sizes. Some of the bathrooms have been ignored in the renovations, though, so they're not quite as fancy.

And don't get me started on the choices of channels to watch on TV.  I could never quite figure out why they only gave you basic local channels plus a few Chinese / Japanese channels to cater to the Asian crowd until I learned that by limiting the free choices, they hope you'll splurge for a $10 movie pay per view.  Grrrr.

Other than that, the hotel staff are always friendly and nice.

I do wonder, though, if anyone's ever tried the $20 upgrade trick that works so well in Las Vegas works in Reno as well? (i.e. slip in a $20 bill to the front desk clerk and ask for a free upgrade to a suite).

I don't understand why anyone would want to come here unless you live around here OR you made a mistake just like I did.

After visiting Virginia City, my fiance and I decided to come to Reno.  I was curious since I had never been here.  The casino is quite a few miles from the freeway.  You have to drive through commercial area to get here stopping at traffic lights at every block.  God forbids that you're behind some dumba$$ who refuses to drive more than 15 mph!!!  And you can't get around him because you're stuck in city streets!

There are 2 casinos across from each other separated by a street.  I can tell you more about the casino, but I just don't feel like wasting my time.

Unless your hands are itching to touch some slot machines, otherwise, save enough money to go to Vegas.  You will have so much more fun there with much better scenery.

The missus and I visit Reno on a fairly regular basis due to a number of factors:

1. Cheap rooms (usually at Atlantis)
2. Nice drive over the mountains
3. Quieter movie audiences than here in Sacramento
4. Interesting food choices
5. Shopping at Sierra Trading Post

We booked a room at Harrah's for a Thursday night stay, since Orbitz was offering a sale ($40.00/night). It is also one of the few casino properties that doesn't charge a daily $10.00 "resort fee", whatever the hell that is (see below for my revelation).

Upon arrival, we were shocked to be charged $10.00 for self-parking, until informed that it would be refunded if we were staying in the hotel - OK, fine.  Staff at the desk were very friendly, but we were then informed that we had to present a "Total Rewards" card to get the rate we booked. OK, fine II. We got the card (I was still in the system from the card I got back in 1986 when I worked at Harrah's Tahoe). No problem really, but not the most customer-friendly set of policies - why do we have to do all the legwork with parking refunds and cards which were not mentioned at the time of booking? Whatever.

Off to the room in the East Tower.  What a depressing place. Not much activity on the casino floor (a problem all over Reno, really), shuttered shops and restaurants. Since I'm not much of a gamble, I don't really care all that much about the casino bit.

Get to the room and it's OK, fine III. Not that large, but fairly comfy and clean.  Subtract points for the mildewy/missing caulk in the shower and the fact that the damn toilet seat wouldn't stay up when I tried to take a leak in the normal standing position. So, now contortions involving the left knee are required, or sitting. Try installing the toilet tank correctly next time, eh?

Ate in the Carvings buffet - it's good for breakfast, but dinner is fairly meh except for the prime rib which was very good.

The pool is a bit sad also. 20'x 60', but looking a bit down at heel, with a very drab poolside area.  Pool use is free, but jacuzzi and/or health club use costs $10.00 a pop! Again, Atlantis has this beat all to hell.  I suppose that is the $10.00 resort fee Atlantis charges, eh?  This minus is really a plus, since if you don't use the facilities at Harrah's, it costs nothing, but Atlantis and Peppermill charge regardless.

Since we wanted to see a movie, it was nice to be able to walk to the Century Riverside cinema, despite having to avoid the clochards and other disrespectful unemployed persons scattered liberally throughout the downtown area. Not having to drive in Reno was a big plus. People seem to lose their heads while driving there for some reason. Too many $2.00 Silver Bullets, most likely.

My overall impression was very average. Our experiences at the Peppermill and Atlantis (or even Silver Legacy) have been far more positive. If it had not been for the ridiculously low room rate, and my distant memories of the quality that Harrah's used to represent, we wouldn't have bothered, and probably won't bother again in the future, regardless of the bargain. It's back to Atlantis the next time.

Stayed this past weekend at Harrah's and had a very enjoyable time, this being my first trip to Reno. I had a room in the East Wing and my buddy in the West ring, the west is newer and had a coffee machine, but both rooms were clean and it was very quiet the little time we spent in the rooms.  It did help that the trip was comped by Harrah's but even if I had to pay, I would have no complaints.

You do get a better rate or free room if you get a player's card and that's probably true for any of the casino's in Reno, and only takes a minute to sign-up. I'm sure I will be back next summer, especially to take in Lake Tahoe again.

The wife and I went back a couple of weekends ago so our daughter could visit the campus of UNR.  We would have stayed some where else but the wife called and we got our rooms free.

So you would think that I enjoyed it more this time.  Nope, it's got worse.  Last time we had the nice new rooms, this time they stuck us in the older rooms.  Has anyone heard of a hotel room with out a coffee maker?  Crazy.

The buffett was ok, but not the best.

I think we will stay at Harveys in Tahoe next time

The room I stayed in looked like it was remodeled. It had normal amenities you would find regularly in a hotel. I liked that the non-smoking rooms are on a separate floor.

What sucked was that they don't have their outdoor jacuzzi/hot tub open...The hot tubs (single person only) in the Fitness Center is available to the club patrons or you can pay $10 for a dip. I prefer the more expensive Harrah's near Lake Tahoe.

A couple of friends and I stayed one night before going skiing to Mont Rose.

One word: Gross

The customer service was inexistent, management incompetent and the food terrible.
Better to stay in a motel than at the Harrah's Reno.

Stayed here maybe 3-4 times. Always a good stay. Nothing fancy here. Your typical room after boarding. Nice place to relax, chill and get away from the cold.

The sports book here is small, but I like it. There are around 15+ screens, and some nice comfy seats to watch games.

Their poker room is right next door, so i liked that. Not a lot of action at the poker tables. Played their 10am tournament on Sunday. Less than 20 people and only top two places get paid.

Location is good, a small trek to the top 3 casinos like Silver Legacy. So far, I'm comped for rooms and I will always pick this place because of the value.

Stay away from roulette tables, looks like great odds, $1 will win you $37, but if you don't hit, you will lose your shirt off your back! I know, I know!

Harrah's. Sighs. Why.

This is what I always feel when I walk into a Harrah's. Honestly everything here is kind of meh. I think the reason for this is that this place just isn't the greatest and when you come here with a half-decent expectation you always leave disappointed in the end. The rooms are ok, but the showers / bathrooms could use some work and there's never really something spectacular that stands out to me about this hotel.

Their steakhouse was decent, but nothing really notable either. If you come here with no expectations on a GREAT deal, then you will probably have a good time. If you are paying normal prices for this hotel, I suggest a skip to go to one of the others: Peppermill or Atlantis. You will have a MUCH better experience there.

I had a really good experience Staying here. the room was kept clean, it was  spacious, and I really like its location. it has restaurants in the casino itself, obviously, and is close enough to other casinos where you can just walk down the street for more options. pricing on the room was reasonable as well. its also is right across the street from the aces stadium. so buy tickets!

I'd stay again.

I actually didn't stay in this hotel.  Calvin's friend's parents were able to get us into their pool/spa area.  The pool is really simple with a good sized pool and a lot of space for people to lay out.  I also noticed an outdoor bar but it was closed.  We did handstands, tried to drown each other and had a chicken fight, which left my shoulder sore for a couple days.  It was actually really windy and chilly that day, so it was quite cold at the pool.  I was mostly in the water but coming out of the water, Desiree noticed my trunks were completely see through.  I had worn them before and they are white but usually i wore underwear as well.  This time i skipped out on the undergarments and everyone got a show.  Luckily, no one else was out at the pool, but my group.  Lesson learned!

The casino is pretty easy to navigate which is fantastic because i get lost really easily.  We also had the opportunity to try the buffet there as well.  A free meal courtesy of those parents again.   I'd have to say that the food at this one isn't quite as good as the one at El Dorado but it has its moments with fresh made crepes and kobe beef ( i ate these separately of course).

Sadly, that's all i can base Harrah's on.  There seem to be a few good restaurants and bars but we didn't go into any of those.  After our buffet meal we were so full we had to take a nap to get out of our food coma.

Moral of this review:

-White trunks w/ underwear = mistake
-Go with Calvin because his friend's parents will hook you up!

I love the fact the BF was comped for two free nights. WHOOHOO.

5 stars:
1. Free rooms.
2. Their lunch buffet was really good -- beef noodles to die for.
3. West Tower rooms were really nice (new and remolded).
4. The gym/spa was really nice. I should have paid for a massage after boarding at Boreal.
5. The BF won 1st in a Holdem Tournament.

But i have to minus 1 star because i lost in Roulette. *shaking fist*

Stay away from this casino----

Why?? Let me tell you-- If you like BRUTAL table game payoffs like 6-5 blackjack, 2 and 12 pays double (12 SHOULD pay triple) on craps (field bets) and 3-card poker pairs plus paytable the WORST there is,then come play at Harrah's!!! Just because you're the biggest casino operator in the world doesn't mean you're the best.BOYCOTT all Harrah's properties.

I just experienced one of the most disappointing trips I have had at a Harrah's casino.  Our room supposed to have 2 double beds that seemed like single beds.   They were very uncomfortable and definitely not worth spending money on.   I thought the support staff was excellent across the board.  We ate at Andreotti's and we were treated to excellent food at a reasonable price.  The pianist/accordionist made the evening very enjoyable with the music he played.  The Casino was very disjointed and much smaller than I expected.  Overall, I would not go back when Tahoe is so close and has so much more to offer.

I hate to judge people by their appearance but in the hotel lobby I saw this one guy standing in line to check in who looked, to me, like a Republican. He wasn't wearing a red white and blue shirt or anything but something about him made me say to myself, "Damn, I should have brought my Obama/Biden pin." About two seconds later he turns around and I see he's wearing a McCain/Palin cap! I KNEW IT!

So at that moment, I wasn't sure how to feel. Happy because my intuition was correct, or mad because he brought his politics to a state Obama needs to win and I didn't bring my cool ass pin to cancel out his hat. The nice people at check-in got my mind off things so thanks to them and to room service for being so great to us. But I think we're going to stay at Atlantis or Eldorado next time for more action and less senior citizens.

My elderly mother and her elderly girlfriend stayed at Harrah's for an overnight of fun but instead my mother was treated like a criminal.  According to my mother she accompanied her girlfriend into Carvings Restaurant,  she had not intended to eat until her friend offered her food from her plate.  As my mother got up to leave the waitress demanded she pay for the food she ate but my mother told her she had only eaten some bacon from her friends plate.  Suddenly she was surrounded by three security guards....my mom is 78 and frail!   This establishment needs to give their employees some customer service training NOW!  I'm mad as hell that my dear old mom's experience scared her and now she says that she will never go back to Reno!

This will be a very technical review, based only on the casino part of Harrah's, because I ain't coming to the casino for outstanding food (ack,) I'm here to come up!

(Beginning balance: 1 star)
+1 star: It was fairly easy to find under the "Best Little City On Earth" sign (It's a Reno landmark, apparently.)
(Balance: 2 stars)
-1 star: The casino rewards program "isn't open" between the hours of Midnight and 8 am which, conveniently for the casino, makes it possible to earn rewards at 3 am but impossible to redeem them within five hours of 3 am.
(Balance: 1 star)
+1 star: 5 dollar minimums are available at the craps table on a Saturday night.
(Balance: 2 stars)
-1 star: 3x payouts for 2 or 12 on the field at the craps table aren't available at this casino. 2s and 12s pay 2 here, which is lame! I roll a lot of 2s and 12s for some reason, and the field is a kind of sucky bet without the 3x payout possibility every 20 rolls or so.
(Balance: 1 star)
+2 star: Very attentive drink service at the craps/21 tables.
(Balance: 3 stars)
-1 star: Very attentive drink service at the craps/21 tables.
(Balance: 2 stars)
+1 star: There was a really nice pit boss at the craps table, actually, the coolest pit boss ever! I don't remember why but I REALLY liked him, even when I was winning! The craps dealers were fun and fast! Scott and I liked Louie (Impressive that Scott liked one of the dealers!) I liked Sandy and Tom too. They were very attentive to my betting patterns and let me know when I was forgetting to bet from being inebriated.
(Balance: 3 stars)
-1 star: The pit boss at the 21 table felt the need to stand right next to me while I was playing even though I clearly wasn't a winner.
(Balance: 2 stars)
-1 star: I never lose at 21, EVER. I lost here. Don't play 21 here. There's something fishy going on.
(Balance: 1 star)
-1 star: The worst slot machines on the Earth! I couldn't find one where you could play nine lines per pull and/or bet over one credit per line played. This sucks when you're too drunk to continue standing at the Craps table.
(Balance: no stars)
-1 star: No Jameson?! WHAT THE FUCK. I almost forgot about that. I probably lost due to the shock this incurred on my system.
(Balance: -1 star)
neutral star: the cocktail waitress was very, very pregnant. They could at least get her a rascal or something.

Technically, this place really blows and you should never EVER come here on any condition.

I've experienced better, but I'd probably come back to Harrah's in Reno only to visit the craps table (and the pit boss!) with a very tight fist for a very brief amount of time.

I'll generously award Harrah's two stars.
But overall, I'm with Lorrie: Why. Sighs.

Never thought I would find myself writing a review for a casino...in Reno none the less.

Should I talk about the stereotypical stuff or highlight the "best of Harrah's"?

The moment you walk into this place you feel like you are in a retirement home full of cast aways who didn't make it on "Golden Girls".  It was quite comical to see these people sitting in front of slots almost appearing to be plugged into them like an electrical appliance.  The cord was holding their "Harrah's card" stretched from their belt to the slot machine keeping count of their every penny.  And in some instances I do mean pennies.  What is up with penny slots?  I think they are reserved for the people with true gambling problems.  Sort of like a heroin addict taking Methadone to help them come clean.   This place is a great site for the next episode of the show "Intervention" http://www.aetv.com/in....  It only makes sense since Reno 911 is getting kind of old.

The rooms are surprisingly comfortable.   Beds pretty good and all was clean.   Big bathroom.  And the best is it was quiet!

Carvings was the main buffet.  Not overly impressed but what do you expect when you have 60 choices for a price of $17.95 (with coupon).  Although the fresh fruit wasn't so fresh, then again I wasn't in California any more I was in the desert.

My favorite part of the experience was enjoying the combination aroma of Virgina Slim menthol's, Capri 100's and Winston gold pack wafting throughout the casino.  It was great!

In all seriousness it wasn't Vegas but what I expected for a Casino.

I was hoping to do some gambling, but one hand in Roulette indicates that I'm happily done.

I put two black chips (value: $100.00 each) on the middle-12 (13-24) and another two black chips on the side columns that increments and divisible by 3 (3, 6, 9, 12...)

Holding my breath and crossing my fingers and toes, I saw the little-white ball rolling along the big-wheel and the dealer waving his hand and announced, "No more bets, please!"

When the wheel stops and the little white ball landed on: 18.

My gutsy bets each pay 2 to 1. And on that hand or transaction, I left the roulette table and casino $800.00 richer. Whoo-hoo!

Harrah's was very impressive.  I normally stay at Silver Legacy or Atlantis when I go to Reno, but this time I went with a big group of friends and stayed in the suite at Harrah's.  My friend's mom had some major comps at this casino and we were all just pretty happy to have a free place to stay.  The service (maintenance and housekeeping) were very good whenever we needed anything.  They were up to our room in just a few minutes with towels, pillows, etc.  The suite was very nice and extremely clean.

The casino itself isn't too large when compared to some other casinos in the area, but it does the job.  I normally like to gamble on sports and they have a nice sportsbook and bar there.  The sportsbook does have an area called Zone 21 where at night the dealers, all female, wear tight clothing that is very revealing.  They play music videos on all the screens and blast music through that area of the casino.  They also have a huge bar to sit at and just drink with friends.  It's fun to see some of the dealers get up on a little stage to dance too.  Makes for a fun atmosphere in Harrah's.  They definitely don't have as big a nightlife scene as the other casinos, but they are making strides.

As for food, I've already done reviews for Cafe Napa and Carvings Buffet for Yelp.  They're both pretty good.  Carvings was very good and has a lot more potential.  I will definitely eat at both again.  They also have a Starbucks in the casino close to Cafe Napa.  They have a bunch of restaurants that seemed to have lines during peak hours, so I assume it will be pretty good and will need to try it out next time.

Overall, I really liked my stay at Harrah's.  I spent almost my entire trip in the casino or hotel room and had a great time.

The front desk staff got me sooooo P.O'd right at check in that the rest of my stay was tainted by that horrible experience.  No customer service skills whatsoever - even the front desk manager was a complete WITCH (beginning with a B).  After arguing with them for about an hour, regarding a reservation that I had made over three months in advance, I finally found one wonderfully competent person at reception who was able to figure things out after the "manager" couldn't!  Wonderful.

Another minus - there's a daily fee for the gym, which doesn't open until 6am - and as soon as it does open there is a line all the way to the elevators to pay and get in!

The non-smoking room I finally ended up in was nice after they tried to put me in a room so heavy with cigarette smoke odors that I almost passed out walking in (I had requested a non-smoking room when making my reservations, so why I got put in a smoking room is beyond reason).  Anyway.... I don't gamble so the casino didn't do a thing for me.  The steakhouse was Fabulous... but the first impression really ruined everything for you Harrahs.

Reno New Year's Eve 2007 is going to be a blast!!!

The familiarity of confrontation turns in the television for the model festival of Reno Eve.
Terri Hendry of new year fame will be there - approaching 2.5 years in Canaleta (8 KOLO).  Program costumes will return with the body cancer/gun - Boynton Monday (newscaster) is on at 8 for the cover of place.  (The night is connected in the end -  you can connect the city.)

"That it is, Wednesday, that is said precisely 'choque' only a time", commented an already festive Hendry. "I do not have enough cans - that is compensated...."

How many pleasures?

This should make precisely Pequeno-numerado!  And preparation has begun in order to 'xera'nej' the return of Hendry's commercial promotion.

The Duo will have slow-downs: The observation of main time.

How many for the Hendry when the midnight begins near, you make attempt against that Boynton for the cover of new year?

11 PM will answer that.

Hendry has meant that it does not possess the plant that turns in the air of that of complete employment. It is precisely marvellous "in order for me to give the occasion in this."

This is marvellous, precisely.

4 stars for the coupons for free rooms you guys keep sending us. And because we love Reno...we try to go at least once every other month. I haven't really had a bad experience yet *knocks on wood* with Harrah's (except for the stupid Quizno's that's in the Casino).  The table games and big wheel of fortune slot machine @ Harrah's was very nice to the hubby and i this weekend.  The rooms aren't bad considering that they're free--although it would be nice to NOT have a view of a back parking lot.  We've tried Ichiban--their japanese restaurant and that was a good experience...they also have this Zone 21 area where during Friday & Saturday nights they have about 10 table games where the dealers are supposed to be girls in skimpy outfits (although the selection of girls could be better... :T )

We will be back!

I always have a five star experience at this Harrah's!  The room is always comped, I never have to pay for drinks, I get pampered in the diamond lounge, I can eat at any of the hotel's dining establishments for free.  Prolly has something to do with my friend's girlfriend being a high roller and tagging along with them for the weekend.

The real reason for the 5 stars though is the restrooms down by the lobby.  The best public restrooms to use if you have to drop the kids off at the pool and you don't have time to go up to your room.  Hell, once when I knew it was going to be really bad, I took the elevator down to the lobby just so I wouldn't have to make my friends suffer through my poo.

Crappy casino.  Granted Vegas is MUCHHHHHHHHHH better than Reno, I was expecting at least a decent casino, but it was just filled with old cranky people and cigarette smoke.

I'm not giving it a great review because I won money (like some people).  Even if I won thousands of dollars, the highlight would be where I step outside of the hurrrrrrrrting casino.

Oh, and I did win money at the Casino and it still doesn't change my view of Reno.  Reno is a great small city (with all the new development around it), but the gambling is TRIFLING!

I hadn't been to Reno probably in the last 15 years... back when my parents would take my siblings and I on a trip to Circus Circus.

Ended up here, somehow... with my boyfriend. The Harrah's in Tahoe for some reason couldn't comp our hotel rooms so we went here. First of all, RENO SUCKS! There's nothing to do, its all flat land, buncha drunkards wandering the streets... and Old people... Old old old people= OLD STINKY UNCONTROLLABLE FARTS GALORE!

The casino is tiny compared to the one in Tahoe or any other ones I've been to for that matter. The floor supervisors were jipping us on our average bet, which was beyond $300 a motha-f-ing spin on the Roulette wheel. They were saying we were only laying out $100, wtf?!?

Customer service here leaves much to be desired... Sad to say, but me and my chronic gambler diamond cardholder boyfriend will no longer lose money at this establishment. We'll attempt to make it rain elsewhere.

I've gambled all my life.  I've been sneaking into casinos since I was old enough to get an allowance.  I am the degenerate gambler every casino loves to see.

And I hate Harrah's Reno.  Every other Harrah's is a fine gaming establishment, but Harrah's Reno brings Teh Suck like few other casinos can.

The security here is overbearing.  I took a hard fall snowboarding and was playing some slots at 4 am waiting for the ladies to return from the powder room.  Stupidly, I had my bum wing up on the chair next to me, with no one else at any of the 20 or so slots near the restrooms.  The Rent-a-Pork decides to harass me about this.  The place stinks like smoke to the point of an occasional smoker (like me) can't stand it.

The odds on the tables are bad.  Craps pays low and the single deck blackjack rules are overly restrictive.

The 2nd star comes from their fantastic sports book.  Other than that, this place sucks.

Pinball ALERT!!!   (second centurion too! =P )

1)  Pirates of the Caribbean (POTC).
2)  etc...

Cool arcade too.  Lots of old school titles like Dig Dug, Centipede, etc. all in great condition.

ROOMS:
=======
In October 2006, I stayed in a renovated West Tower room.  Of the 3 Harrah's branded properties I've stayed at (Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Reno), Reno has by far the nicest rooms available for the normal rooms.  At the Harrah's Reno, the room felt like a "W" room.  Modern. Trendy. Cool.

GAMING CHIPS:
=============
For those of you who play in the Casino, or in my case donate(!), the craps table doesn't use chips for the $1 units.  They actually use silver!  This is a little weird at first because I prefer the "feel" of 11.5 ounce clay chips at the table.  However, I've come to appreciate the heavier weight and the "sound" of silver at the tables...

- more laters + pix too...

but every year, we do it super vietnamese/chinese style and stay in a casino hotel !!

I'm always satisfied when I go to Harrah's whether it's at Vegas, Tahoe, or Reno! I give Harrah's A+ for everything.

Their Harrah's seem big to me. Theres like two buildings i think.
They have a nice computerized Sportsbook area which looks like a mini-vegas sportsbook. They just remodeled and moved their sportsbook to a different area so for you boys who want to watch sports in Reno, come here! None of the casinos that I know of have the computerized screens besides Grand Sierra Resort (the former Hilton)!

So basically, if you want to know what I think about Harrah's you could read my South Tahoe review.

Our comped room was beautiful.  I totally wasn't expecting it to be nice, but I was pleasantly surprised.

They had cookies waiting for us in the evening and set out a few nice pieces of chocolate.  The bathroom was nice and big and the water pressure STRONG!

Our drain in the bathtub was really slow, so I called housekeeping and they fixed it right away.

The casino is huge and, even on a busy weekend, there were plenty of tables open and slots to be had.

We stayed in two different rooms on two different days. First evening we stayed in the smoking room. The smoke was so strong that all the sheets and mattresses smelled like smoke!

The second day we stayed in the smoke-free room and on a much higher floor. Much better and were much more satisfied with the room.

Also went for a full body massage in an office-look-alike converted room with some basic curtains hanging around that made it look more like a  massage room. The 1 hour massage costs 100 dollars including taxes but the experience was only so so.

Harrah's in Reno is in every sense of the word, underrated.  There are so many fabulous places in Reno but this particular casino / hotel has them all beat.  Most Harrah's customers will tend to flock to the most extravagant Harrah's in Lake Tahoe, but for Reno standards, this is the best bang for your buck and the amenities for the hotel and casino are top notch.

The service here is wonderful from the cocktail waitresses, to the front desk folks, the VIP lounge people, and casino hosts.  Its a little more laid back here to where big acts probably won't be coming here as Vegas is only a mere 6 hours away on the road.  The market is smaller, so therefore the comps here are easier and plenty of folks from all points of the country will make it to their very decent sized casino.  The rooms are fun as well and this place is fabulous for housing during the great skiing season.

Went to Reno last week and stayed at the Harrah's Casino.

What bad things can I say about a hotel when the room was free? The rooms were very clean ,  the bed comfortable, the dcor modern, and the sofa chairs were awesome! I was mesmerized by the fuzzy lamp shade that was in the room, and so  was my friends brother who was staying in a suite. I don't know what the rooms go for, but I do know that if you become part of their rewards member you can get complimentary rooms in Reno and Las Vegas. The casino plan was very simple and easy to navigate, even when I was drunk. The slots took half my money, but I made it up in roulette ( lucky numbers 4, 2, 18, 26, and 29). The room service staff was also very courteous no matter what time we ordered for food. (The only bad part was the OJ story, read David P.'s review)

I would stay at the Harrah's again as an alternative to the Peppermill, and if I felt like being downtown.

Not a bad place, good service, VERY smoky and a *cough* older crowd.  Didn't even bother gambling here just went straight to the silver legacy.

I just took my first trip to Reno, and I was really surprised by how nice Harrah's is.  The people were friendly, the room was nice (no W in contrast to what others have said, but for $100 it was pretty darn nice), and the casino workers were all very friendly.

Huge upside for a casino - I never smelled smoke at the table games.  An indication of good air handlers, and if it were otherwise I'd have a hard time writing a good review.  Plus I won at craps right off the bat, so it's immediately better than Harrah's in South Lake.

I actually thought this hotel was awesome.  Wonderful service. I mean they go above and beyond to make sure there guests are happy.  I had a handful of requests when we checked in and I was surprised to find that Tyler ( the guy at the check in counter) fulfilled every single one! The reason I gave this place a 4 star and not a 5 is because there are a lot of old people at this casino therefor we had to gamble and party elsewhere. Other then that it's a nice place to stay!
