After yesterday's apparent "hurricane" a bunch of oh so cool Houston yelpers and I visited the Harp for happy hour. It was a relatively cool night in Houston (and by cool I mean 90 degrees ;)) so we parked ourselves right on the patio..and besides all the bugs biting at my legs it was quite lovely. Note to self: carry a bottle of off in purse while visiting Houston.
We arrived at 6 and it was pretty empty with the exception of the entertaining guy slurring his words...I have a feeling he'd been drinking at Harp for about 3 days by the time we got there. However, by 8 PM this place was packed for trivia night. I went inside to grab another glass of wine and it looked like so much fun. Of course I didn't know any answers to the questions they were asking, but next time I'm in Houston I'll have to grab a trivia buff and play. Apparently the winners tab is taking care of at the end of the night...and for that I will brush up on my trivia skills!

As I sit inside a cozy little nook with my comp and a glass of Shiraz (so sorry to disappoint. Not drinking beer today), I have to gush about this place.
A pub is a pub is a pub ... or not?
Nice clean interior, huge deck patio--now with covered shade to protect those freckles from the evil sun--crack machines and more to keep you entertained, it's the service that made me want to Yelp the hell out of this place.
The bartender, John, kept me company as I awaited my gf. He also gave me a few bucks to load up the digital jukebox with some good jams. AND, to top it off, he made some chicks at the bar margaritas. First off, who orders margaritas at a pub (once again, please excuse my wine)? But he happily made these two ladies their drinks. Next to a mojito, margaritas can be time consuming. I'm liking it. Now that's good client service!

Nice little Irish bar! I love the different rooms and the outside patio tucked in a neighborhood. It's a great place to meet a group of people, play darts, video or board games.
I use to frequent this place alot when I was a resident of H-town. It's a must go to this place!.

The Harp is a great, relaxed neighborhood bar. Darts, tables, couches on the inside, benches on the patio outside. The staff is friendly, the people aren't obnoxious. Never a cover. One time during one of those typical Houston flooding rainstorms, my friend had to pull over on Richmond and ended up at this place with hanging out with other patrons waiting out the storm. The only drawback would be small parking lot.
If you want a drink and conversation without the ostentatiousness, this is a fave.

I went here a lot when I lived next door because it's a bar with a good mix of people, beers, and seating. The outdoor patio is a great place to experience St. Patrick's day. This is also where I learned to play (win) at darts, so it will forever hold a sharp but special place in my heart. The staff is very friendly, as are many of the regulars (and I read that this is a great place to pick up up-and-coming businessmen, though I haven't tried it myself). I have taken almost all of my visitng friends here on awkward I-am-out-of-things-to-show-you nights and enjoyed it every time.

Medium sized Irish bar, kind of an unofficial sister bar to McElroys. Definitely in spirit - everything I've said about McElroy's probably applies to here as well. Friendly staff, darts, and a decent sized patio out front. All sorts of clientelle, and they've got a jukebox with good songs on it.
They're very dog friendly. I had been by a few times and seen folks come in with their dogs. me and the lady t decided to bring our dog, jerry, up for an expedition. We sat outside for a bit, and one of the waitresses brought out a glass of water for jerry and petted and complimented him.
Parking lot is small, but I usually park next door.

A nice bar-- a bit like other Irish themed pubs. Sports on TV, nice staff, and Irish beer are plentiful. Not bad.
