Review Highlights
I love this frozen yogurt. I had black berry, with chocolate syrup and chips. It was delish--sweet and a little tart.
I liked the decor too--the green front of the store and yellow walls (which were a little dirty).
It's too bad I don't live near here anymore as it's definitely a place I would frequent.
Still the purest and natural tasting tart froyo anywhere... only gripe is that it's more expensive than the many other places, but you get what you pay for.
Bottom line: Still one of the best froyo places in SF Bay Area.

Harmony Frozen Yogurt. Where do I even start?
I guess I will start by saying that Harmony is by far the best frozen yogurt shop in the peninsula. The natural flavor is creamy, slightly tart, sweet, and delicious. Matched with fresh cut mango is my favorite. But I probably had close to every topping combination possible.
The fruit flavors are also great and made with organic fruit purees. I just always get the natural because I am a purest. Try Harmony. You will understand!
I liked this place. The yogurt had a very "natural" taste - sweet but not in an artificial way, a little tart, and creamy. It tasted a lot like real yogurt. They get their yogurt from the Strauss Creamery, which also makes some very good milk. The topping selection was a little smaller than Red Mango, but they had all the basics like mochi, pineapple, strawberry, kiwi, raspberries, fruit purees, etc. I ordered a medium-sized original tart yogurt with mochi, strawberries, and kiwi for $5.25. They also had two flavored yogurts, chocolate and blackberry. I don't normally order the flavored ones, but I tried a little bite of the blackberry and thought it was good too! The menu also included items like smoothies, hot chocolate, and tea. Overall, recommended!
Upon visiting again, i kind of liked the iciness of the froyo and the freshness of the mangos. It felt very light and refreshing. Sometimes I feel kind of heavy after eating at other froyo places.. not here though?

When a patron in these new-age froyo joints, I am loyal to original tart, no topping. Pretty boring, I know.
I finally found out why I love Harmony so much more than the plethora of other establishments I've tried- 1) Real yogurt (no powder like others) 2) STRAUSS! This is the yogurt I buy from the store, so it makes sense that I love this froyo.
Perfect balance of cream and tart, hint of sugar- soooo good!!! and good for you!!!
On our way back from an awesome day at the beach my friends and I had a sweet tooth. None of us had tried Harmony before so we gave it a whirl. Here's what I thought.
The Mango yogurt was refreshing yet too icy. I prefer a creamier consistency.
The only topping I had: blackberries. As they were scooping the berries I was shocked that they had placed ONLY 4 berries in the cup. Really, +$1 for 4 blackberries? Pretty sure they could afford to be a bit more generous.
Tip: When they ask you "for here or to go" go ahead and say "to go." Otherwise they'll charge you extra for tax. Since I was already paying $4.25 for a SMALL cup with 4 berries, I wasn't about to give them anymore $.
Unfortunately, this isn't a place I'll be frequenting. My review may have been kinder if they weren't so stingy. Not impressed.
I am making it my goal in life to be a Yogurt Connoisseur ... since the wine thing isn't workout out too well.
I have been to the Harmony in San Mateo but, wasn't sure if they would size up the same. And to my pleasant surprise they did! I just love their natural (tart) it is by far the best tasting out there.
Staff always knows their stuff and they all seem to really enjoy working there.
As far as yogurt goes - this place is a must!
Formula is off: icy and acidic, like bile. Stale chocolate chips. Overpriced.
Dead-on for fancy yogurt.
Came here after work today since it's close. I've been to the San Mateo location and loved the Mango froyo. Too bad they didn't have that this time!
Current flavors: Natural (original), Blueberry, and Blackberry.
While I do enjoy the Natural and Blueberry, I find the froyo to be a bit too icy for complete enjoyment. The flavor is nice and the topping selection is excellent, but I much prefer the thicker, creamier textures and more prominent tastes of Red Mango and Pinkberry. I also like that they have a child size and no age limit.
This store is also quite tiny, smaller than the San Mateo one but not by much. Seating for 6-7ish inside and a bench outside.
Definitely stop by if you're in San Carlos and want some tasty froyo. (Also, I heard Gracie's around the corner is a great sandwich place.)
I LOVE harmony and have tried a bunch of other natural yogurt places and keep coming back to them.
It's a great place for people who like the taste of yogurt - it's tart and not too sweet. If you don't like yogurt and you like things really sweet, this might not be the place for you - stick to ice cream.
I go to Harmony about 3 times a week and have it for dinner when my husband works late!
Some people are concerned about the pricing. I just got an email from Harmony that states,
" *We've increased the size of child yogurt 33%
*We've increased the size of a small size yogurt 20%
*We reduced the cost of a single topping by 33%
*We will also now pay all sales taxes, so please feel free to
enjoy your yogurt or smoothie at Harmony! "
This is a recent change I think it'll make lots of people much happier.
I stopped by Harmony after a Yelp Event at Red Mango and tried a blueberry fro yo. It had nice blueberry flavor. I liked it better than the blackberry or the original because it's less tart. The texture of Harmony's fro yo is a little too icy for my taste.
I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any blueberry topping for my blueberry fro yo. Were they just out or do they not carry blueberries?
I got there around 9:45pm -- 15 minutes before closing. No one was in front, but two workers came out quickly as we entered. I received efficient but not very friendly service. Perhaps it was too close to closing time?
I had a sample of the "natural" yogurt, and my friend was right, it doesn't taste like ass.
Let me explain.
My friend enjoys tart fruits and sour candies. So when her friends told her about Red Mango and asked her if she liked tart deserts, she gave an emphatic, "I love tart stuff!" Only she wasn't thinking about the sour taste of plain, unflavored yogurt.
"That," she explains, "tastes like ass."
I try to explain to her that it's an acquired taste, but it just doesn't come out right.
Harmony doesn't taste like other fro-yo joints. It has a more sweeter, more subtle taste. I went for the mango flavor, and I'm glad I did. I really enjoy the taste of mangos, and I have to say that Harmony's mango yogurt delivered an authentic mango frozen desert.
Texture-wise, it still had a slight hint of grittiness that other joints like Tuttimelon or Pinkberry have and that Red Mango does not.
But unlike Harmony's afore mentioned competition, it doesn't taste like ass.
Fro-yo girl here. On a recent visit to Harmony, I was surprised to see not one but TWO new fro-yo flavors, blackberry and blueberry. Not only that, they've added the flavor to the machines and menu board. And they weren't hanging out in the back of the store. Harmony listens...e.g., they also were responsive to mochi ball requests. I meant to stop by sooner but they close on the early side.
As for the new fro-yo flavors, yum. I chose blackberry because it's tarter than the blueberry. Like all their fro-yo flavors, the fro-yo has a pleasant, natural flavor but isn't that tart or tangy. Despite the low level of "tang", I still like their fro-yo because it feels and tastes healthy and pure. It's organic. Also, they don't have the same toppings as everyone else. They have several types of honey, agave nectar, fruit purees, dark chocolate sauce, etc. And they care about the environment (green business).
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

As I have mentioned, I am more of a fan of Fraiche, but I needed to try Harmony after a client of mine raved about it. She prefers the more "icy" texture and I prefer the "creamier" texture. Thus, I give only 4 stars. I do like the tartness of the original, but I am not so much of an icy fan.
One thing that chips my hide is how its WEIGHED! Oh, come on! Really? What would they have done if they accidentally over-poured the yogurt? There's something for you to think about...
A warm Saturday, I just dropped my daughter at one of her friends birthday party, had a few hours to spare, so I thought I'd give myself a treat.
Been about little over 10 months since my first visit, and thanks to Yelp, I've tried different tart fro-yo places since then. Ordered THE DEAL: Medium fro-yo with 3 toppings for $5. I ordered mine with kiwis, strawberries, and mangoes. I have to say, the taste of their original tart is has a very clean taste to complement the fruit.
Yes, this place is not along Laurel St., so it's not easy find, unless you know where you're going. If you're looking some good, clean-tasting yogurt, and an alternative to some of the larger fro-yo chains, check this place out.

For once, I actually feel like I'm doing my body good by eating froyo. Organic froyo from Harmony, that is.
The natural flavor is so refreshing. It's on the milkier side, and isn't like most tart froyo's out there. It literally tastes like organic yogurt that is...well, frozen. It's good and it's healthy for you. They have a nice selection of fresh fruit toppings and fruit sauces.
I think Lolia S. totally hits the nail on the head about what Harmony needs to improve on. Labeling the yogurt flavors would really save our time from wondering what flavors they have and would save their breaths from explaining what each one is. And the froyo machines are indeed very loud, I could barely hear what the guy who was serving me was saying!
Tried this place because a friend recommended it - the natural flavor is okay, the fruit flavored yogurts were okay on the first bit but not worth buying.
Fraiche is hands-down the best yogurt place in the bay area!
I really like this place. I love that it's owned by a local family and I love that the yogurt is organic and made with Strauss Farm products. The prices are reasonable and the staff is generally very friendly. The counter and the toppings bar is always neat and clean.
The original froyo is my favorite here- not too tart and goes well with fruit toppings. Decent selection of toppings- I like that they have different kinds of honey they have available and the fruit is always fresh (although the mango can be a little unripe and sour sometimes).
Prices are reasonable- especially if you consider that the yogurt is organic!
Love it! The chocolate with sauce is my current favorite. Family owned, clean, fast, friendly service.
Harmony is definitely my favorite frozen yogurt place in the Bay Area. To me, it is the perfect blend of creaminess, tartness, sweetness, and pure yogurt flavor. While I used to go for just honey as a topping (think Greek yogurt), I have recently opted just graham crackers over the natural yogurt. It's like a healthy, delicious cheesecake. Mmm! I am also a fan of their smoothies, which although pricey, make for a good sippable beverage to enjoy at the desk.
If given the choice between Red Mango (down the street) and Harmony, my vote goes to Harmony any day of the week. My only complaint is that it kind of smells like a dentist's office inside...I guess that means they're very meticulous about being clean, which at the end of the day, is better than the alternative!
harmony is very small shop. they have a green & yellow interior their building reminds one of a fruit stand one encounters in the farming areas.

Excellent frozen yogurt. Fresh fruit toppings.
Their yogurt is great as they use Straus Creamery yogurt. My issue with them is that they are extremely cheap on the yogurt and the toppings. For a while, we would just order the yogurt to go and top it with our own strawberries. You would figure that $1 would get you more than a tablespoon of chopped strawberries. You would figure that they are making enough money on a $5 frozen yogurt that they can at least appear to be generous. Both biggies PinkBerry & Red Mango can. Even a small shop like HoneyBerry in Santa Clara can... why does Harmony have to come off being so cheap?
Such short sightedness will lead to Red Mango (around the corner) taking a huge chunk of their customers away.
This place bases everything on it being organic. Isn't organic stuff suppose to taste better than non-organic stuff? That's what I always thought when I enter the produce section of the market. Anyway... this place may be organic but it sure didn't make it taste any better. So I got the natural with mochi and mango. I had a tiny scoop of mango and guess what happened with the mochi? It was a string of it - as if it wasn't cut all the way through. Yes... mochi is suppose to be little bit sized cubes but that was not what I got. It made it impossible to eat too! Not to mention the employee behind the counter looked extremely disgruntled. She even put the string of mochi into my cup. Who would do such a thing?
Anyway... bottom line = I would NEVER come back here. EVER.
Decided to try this place since a lot of people are raving about how great it is.
On one hand, I actually really like the froyo. I tried all 3 flavors they had on hand - the natural, blueberry and the blackberry. Since I like tartness in my froyo, I enjoyed the blackberry, but I also think that their natural yogurt has a very nice, sweet enjoyable flavor.
I also love the texture. I'm a big fan of the more "icy" texture and Harmony definitely churn their yogurt more to deliver on this.
Their pricing is also very reasonable for froyo, so why you ask did I only give them 3 stars?
Well - the froyo is wonderful, the froyo pricing is great but their topping prices are simply CRAZY!...
They charge $1 per topping and they serve you up about 1/3 to 1/2 of what other froyo places would serve as a full topping. To put this into perspective - if you order a single topping at say...Red Mango (which is just around the corner), you would get a full ring of your chosen topping. At Harmony, you barely get enough to go around 1/2 way. This is just ridiculous and really impedes what would otherwise be a great froyo experience.
Summary:
Great froyo, great texture and taste. Stay away from being ripped off from the cost of the toppings...they just aren't worth it.
Harmony's original store is really a bit hard to find as it is tucked away in San Carlos near a residential neighborhood. I found parking a bit trying. The store is small and cute, like it is at the beach....but no, it is in San Carlos.
They serve Natural, Blueberry and Blackberry and store marketing focuses on the organic Strauss ingredients. I like this. They come across as a green business and very strict. On the other hand, there is no where much to sit and they don't have trash cans visible when you finish. Not so green.
The flavor is nice, icy. A little runny. Personally I would give them another star if they had more stiffness or creamy-ness. But nice. Very nice. They are top tier.
I was disappointed to see that they charge $.50 more to get a flavored yogurt and if you go half and half they still charge for this. I think this is just being cheap.
I go here my good friend Amy who loves this place. I like the fact that it is on a side street, which seems to make the line smaller. The people are usually very nice if they are adults. Some of the teenagers that work there seem as if they are in space thinking about thier myspace page or something. You will usually get an adult, or mature person to help you and they work fast. They have a ton of toppings including reeses peaunut butter and chocolate, and then you can leave and walk around Laurel street with your cup.
The best part of this place is their Yelp picture they chose. It shoud say"The suburbs...where ridiculous SUVs live in Harmony among the Toyota Prius".
They have young ladies behind the counter with little customer service skills. I have been there twice where the counter ladies have gone to the back behind a wall - come back to the counter and waited on whoever was looking at the menu wall. There are customers who are new and are not aware there is a line from left to right, so the question "who's next? or who was here 1st?" must be asked but is it ever?
Go here and expect to have no apologies for having a counter gal allow someone to cut ahead of you.
Good yogurt. Kind of expensive. Small portions, they actually weigh it! Often out of fresh fruit toppings :(
I tried Harmony for the first time today. I guess I'm on a Yelp-inspired yogurt taste-test. Harmony did quite well.
Impressions:
- Tasty yogurt - tart, not too sweet, just right (and it's organic - very cool!)
- Nice mom-and-pop shop
- Good vibe, friendly service
- Paper containers (no styrofoam, yay!)
- They compost taste cups, recycle, etc.
There weren't any real minuses for me, except they didn't have a lot of flavors to choose from (only three). The flavors were raspberry, mango, and original. Being a chocolate freak, I was a little surprised they didn't have chocolate yogurt. They redeemed themselves by having a very high quality chocolate sauce, which had the superior ingredients you'd expect in an organic establishment (though their toppings are not organic)..
I don't think they'll get as much foot traffic because they're not on the main drag, Laurel Street. I hope they stay in business because they are superior to the Red Mango around the corner.
Out of all the fro-yo places that I've visited and ate at, they're located in the city's busiest part of the strip. Whenever I eat my treats on the streets, I get annoyed by other people spreading their germs on my treat and on me. Every now and then and depending on my mood, I would like to enjoy my frozen treat in a quiet surrounding and play the tunes of the likes of any West-Coast Rap, Van Halen or the Carpenters on my I-Pod. (Yes, I actually listen to those unusual combinations of music).
This little frozen yogurt place is located off the Laurel St. strip and located near the beginning of the city's residential area, which is truly mellow and relaxing. Unlike some of the other competitors, the dazzling shop uses organic ingredients to make the frozen treats. There were three different flavors upon my visit: the plain-tart, raspberry and mango. I had samples of all three available flavors and find them all really sweet and tasty (like me). Making a tough decision, I chose the plain tart in a $3.00 5oz. cup. And I chose the chewy mochi ball and chopped strawberries as my duo topping for an additional $1.25. I used my Master Card for this small purchase.
I really enjoyed my treat while sitting on the outside benches and watch the beautiful residential view of the city. And with the quiet location, I get to enjoy my treat without having passersby walking, staring at me and yell,
"Look at that Fat Tub of Lard eating a fancy bowl of fro-yo!"
We certainly don't want to hear that!
On a scorching hot day in San Carlos, there was nothing more refreshing than frozen yogurt. Harmony takes it an extra step and serves 100% Organic fro yo. Softened by the rays of the sun, the mochi topping contrasted the chilly yogurt. For further crunch, the vibrant mango topping did the trick.
Ambiance.
Unlike Pinkberry and Red Mango, the decor does not portray minimalist design but instead earth tone colors resembling Whole Foods.
Taste.
After tasting over five fro yo eateries around the Bay Area, not one taste similar to another. Distinctively, the clean after taste of Harmony's fro you is obvious. The texture is full bodied but less creamy than Quickly's frozen yogurt.
My plan was to hit up Pho Saigon in San Mateo for lunch, followed by fro-yo in San Carlos at Harmony at 11am (yes, I eat early lunches). You have NO idea how much self-restraint it took to forgo the nearby froyo options, all of their frozen tart goodness taunting me from behind their cute store windows. But for the love of Yelp and discovering new places, I was strong and made it all the way to San Carlos without another froyo pitstop in between.
The place was clean, but small, and there were no Asians in sight! What? A non-Asian owned froyo place? This is an interesting surprise. When the owner's 4 year old daughter greeted me with a, "We're not open yet!!" I almost had a heart attack, but alas the owner quickly came out and assured me they were indeed open at 11. Phew...
I'm not proud to admit this, but I didn't always used to be such an equal opportunity froyo consumer. I was very picky about icy-ness and tartness, but Harmony offered a more dense, homemade, milky froyo which is just slightly tart and yet still so delicious. Mochii's weren't overly sweet like some places, toppings were fresh, and chopped finely. They have an small, but adequate variety of fruit and non-fruit toppings. Also, I have forgiven them for not being self-serve because of their generous portions.
I got the Med: Original + Rasberry w/3 toppings for $5.25 ($5.50 for 1 flavor, $5.25 for 2 flavors - go figure). Harmony is unique because they offer a child size, and considering the frequency of my froyo outtings, I thought that would be a healthy choice. Surprise, surprise...I couldn't resist the special price for Med + 3 toppings, and as they say, it's "go hard or go home," when it comes to froyo right? Ok, maybe that's just me... Can't wait to come back!
P.S. Found a cupcake store around the corner called Vanilla Moon!!
Organic fro-yo = delicious!
OK no more fro-yo for a while again..... Fro-yo shops are everywhere and I can't seem to try all of it. Every time I think I have,I discover another one. Even though it's "non fat" "fat free" "healthy", I feel like I'm gaining so much weight from eating fro-yo all the time! It's like a drug addiction or something.. All I think about is fro-yo this, fro-yo that....
Driving far for fro-yo isn't a surprise to me and anybody else that knows me anymore.... Drove to San Carlos just to get fro-yo and decided to go check out Jersey Joe's too since it was right there.
I wish I lived in that neighborhood! Especially if Harmony Yogurt is right there. Place is cute and small.. Good for kids and adults. Sizes included Child (3oz), SM (5oz), MD (8oz), LG (12oz)... They have a deal where you get a MD with 3 toppings for $5. Otherwise. It's $0.95 per topping or $1.50 for three. Not only do they serve yogurt, but they also serve smoothies which looked refreshing while the girl behind the counter was making one.. Next time!
I ordered the MD with 3 toppings deal. Plain with Mango, pineapple, and MOCHii. Man, I wish I would stop being a pig and just get a SM since I never finish my fro-yo. Fro-yo was creamy, dense, had a yogurt taste to it if that makes any sense, instead of a tart taste, but it kinda looked grainy to me when I got to the middle, which I'm happy to report has NO holes! YAY! Definitely a unique taste compared to all the other ones I've tried. The fruits were fresh and sweet but I wish they would of gave more fruit for an 8oz fro-yo... But they did give plenty of MOCHii which was a plus.
I probably wouldn't drive all the way here just to get fro-yo since gas is super expensive, but I'll always think of it when eating others that are in SF.
I went back to Harmony within a week. I know I have an addiction problem with their frozen yogurt.
I ate too much. Usually I order a child or small. This time I got greedy and ordered medium with two toppings. I ate more than I usually do and got a huge stomachache after wards.

Since I logged in on yelp today, I have seen two Oxi-Clean commercials, a ShamWow commercial, and heard a Men's Warehouse ad on the radio.
I've been swept in the frenzy of extreme advertising and now I wish to try my hand at it.

FUCK YEAH, HARMONY FROZEN YOGURT!
3 1/2 stars.
Tasty, tart.
I'd come here again, but I can't say I was in love. Will try again.
After trying mochi ball froyo for the first time at Quickly, I had to try it again. I heard the organic stuff at Harmony is supposed to be really good. Given the gas prices it was hard for me to justify driving all the way down to San Carlos from San Mateo just for froyo. Heck, that's like driving halfway to China or something. So I had to plan. Yeah I'll go for a swim at the gym down in RWC, then while down there I'll have some froyo. Great plan.
Harmony has a medium with 3 toppings for five bucks deal. I tried the plain tart and the mango flavors with mochi balls, of course, and blueberries and strawberries. I'm converted, I love toppings on froyo. And I no longer blink when shelling out $5 for froyo. This ain't buck fifty Costco froyo that momma gets.
The place is kinda small and was crowded so I walked back to my truck, eating my froyo without the spoon. Yeah that's how I eat when nobody is looking. I kept losing blueberries since all the toppings were smashed to the side of the froyo... not much toppings can be crammed into that bitty bowl. The yogurt was nice and smooth, and perfectly tart.
Good stuff. Next time I'm going swimming or driving to China I'll be sure to stop by Harmony again for more medium 3 topping froyo deal.
==========================
Update 9/20/2008. After trying a gazillion other froyo places, I need to bump this place up to 5 stars (from 4). It is one of my top 3 places for froyo in the Bay Area thus far.
Harmony is good for a few reasons:
1. It's locally owned
2. It's organic
3. It's "real"
4. they don't give you a ton of yogurt, so if you're on a diet, you can keep the portion small.
Here are the negatives:
1. they're expensive (seriously, $2.50 for a teensy weensy cup? Rockets has better value)
2. The yogurt is "so-so"... yes, it's real, but still, I could mix sugar and plain Strauss' yogurt at home and get better flavor.
3. Staff has a 'tude, as if I did them a great big favor by coming in for a fro yo.
4. it's 25 calories per ounce, and they're not non-fat, nor are they sugar free. So, if you're on a diet and watching calories, fat, etc. Since they don't advertise they're ingredients or the nutritional values, be careful!
I think it's great they're local and organic and all natural (or are they?), but still, it's not fat free, they only have three flavors and they aren't upfront with what's in it.
Jury is still out on Harmony...
