I've been to Harding twice, once to play and the other to watch Tiger win a tournament. It is a great muni course, so great that the PGA has used it twice for tournaments in the last four years.

When I played here, I was shocked to see such a low course rating and slope. I played the tips to give myself a chance for a good differential, and that was a huge mistake. The trees absolutely feasted on my balls. I played poorly, the course ate me up, I got discouraged... I moved up to the white tees by about the 8th hole because I needed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. My game was dying.

A great place to play, totally disregard the CR and Slope because they are bogus. Don't get all macho and move to the blues. I've seen this place eat up the best of the best.

I have played Harding Park many times over the past 15 years.  Years ago it was a total dog track.  It was a great layout and everything it is today, except the city of San Francisco had no money to put towards it.  Hence, it was in terrible condition.

But in 1998 the US Open was played at The Olympic Club right across the lake.  And during The Open, they used Harding Park as a parking lot for spectators.  The USGA rented it out and in return gave a huge chunk of money to the course to renovate it.  They also did this with the idea of making it worthy of professional events.

Today it is completely renovated and hosts either a PGA, LPGA or Senior event every year.  They rotate between the three.  This year in October will be the Presidents Cup with the US team competing against an International team.

Here is the http://www.coursecam.c... satellite map of Harding Park

If you zoom out the map a few clicks you can see the Olympic Club and the San Francisco Golf Club.  Both of which are private and I've sadly never played.

If you're going to play Harding Park here are a few things to consider.  First, if you get a cart, its cart path only.  This pretty much defeats the purpose of having a cart in my book.  Second, they have really narrowed the fairways and started growing up the rough.  So although the fairways are wide between the trees, the actual mowed fairways are quite narrow.  Third, the course is lined with giant cypress trees.  Incidentally cypress trees are my favorite, the look like giant bonzi trees.  And finally, tee times are being limited as they get closer to the Presidents Cup.

Harding Park is also a little pricy and tee times can be difficult to get.  They offer San Francisco residents a residence card for $45 which you have to buy at city hall.  This cuts the rate to about $65 prime time.  They have a Bay Area rate of about $95 and finally a out of area rate of around $125.  Once you have a residence card you can then use the automated telephone system to get a tee time, but you'll need to book about two weeks out to secure a decent time.

Granted, there are some amazing private course nearby (Olympic Club, etc.) But this is THE San Francisco course for us regular folk. The resident's card is the only way to go, and the full boat price for non-locals more than a bit steep. But the course is beautiful, and has a the majestic feel of a serious, mature track. The Presidio is also majestic, but poorly maintained and full of flaws. Forget Lincoln. Forget Crystal Springs. Harding is a bona fide crusher. The back 9 are excellent, and the finishing hole is seriously prime time. Heard a story/rumor about Padraig Harrington, who when given the chance for a warm up round before a major tournament (I believe the British Open), chose Harding because of the weather and the muscular structure of the course. Rings true to me.

However, I've dinged them a star because the driving range is an absolute embarrassment!! Terrible astroturf situation where they have synthetic "long grass". There are no tees, and the surface is too hard to put in your own. A mess. Ugly. All but useless.

One more thing: if you aren't a 10 handicap, for the sake of the rest of us, stay off the blue tees! Because when the tees are back and the wind starts to blow, you and that slice-spewing driver of yours are no man for this outstanding course. Slows down play on what can be either a 4.5 hour or 5 hour round. (depending on the crowd).

Great golf course, challenging in every respect.  We played a few weeks after The Presidents Cup.  The greens were rolling well but not deadly fast.  The rough was grown out longer than it was in the Presidents Cup I am told.  The greens are small targets given the club you will have in your hand on your approach shot.  I shot 77 and had to chip out from the trees 3 or 4 times.  18 is an awesome hole (it was the 15th in the Presidents Cup to ensure it was played in most matches) and they still had the huge grandstand up.  I really love this golf course.  We teed off at 10:15am on a perfect day in San Francisco.  Pace of play was okay but not great.  It costs $150 for guests, $100 for NorCal residents, and $50 for SF residents if you have a playing card from city hall.  This is one of my favorite golf courses for sure.  It was a great experience.

Its a nice golf course.  I come here during the first day of the President Cup. I volunteer with one brick and help with the concession stand near the 13th  hole.  I got in for free but work selling food.  I didn't stay for the opening, i was too tired.  The food was expensive but it was free for for me. The manager closed the concession early but some of us volunteers left early an didn't stay.

We played the course the Thursday after the Presidents Cup and arrived around 7 am. It was busy in the club house and they had a sign posted that you had to check in 1/2 hour prior to tee time.....what a great concept. There were a bunch of guys there who were trying to get out and were on the waiting list, we had made our tee time a week prior with no problem. It was pitch black at 7, but they told the first group to head to the tee. Only problem was the grill didnt open until 8 am, and our tee time was 7:50.

There had been a terrible rain storm on Tuesday, and they told us they had lost a bunch of trees and there was debris on the course....it was true, but the course was in GREAT shape.....except for the long wet rough that I was in all day.

It was a strange day, sun, mist/rain, clouds........and very damp. Being off the fairway was brutal and my score showed it (92). I would give one piece of advice, I am a 12.2 handicap and I played the blues at 6500 yards and slope of 125---it plays much longer and much tougher!! It was really cool to get to play with all of the bleachers and corporate tents still in place!

As for the course itself it is solid, a very good muni track. On the front side there are 3 holes that run side by side like a traditional muni course, and balls were all over the fairways, but it was in great shape. 17 and 18 are great finishing holes.

Best part of all was the pace of play.....we walked and finished in just under 4 hours!!!! Never felt rushed and only waited a few times for the groups in front of us.

Oh, and the course hot dog at the turn was SPECTACULAR......a great roll and huge dog.....

At the price point however I would be tempted to play Presido instead.......

Total - $135.00

wow, harding park is muni golf the way it's *supposed* to be! fantastic course in beautiful condition. reasonably priced (for local residents, that is). nice clubhouse and driving range. PGA tour events are regularly played here, so it's neat to play the same course that the pros do!

i came for the presidents cup 2009 - my first tournament and it was surprisingly fun! i'm not usually into watching golf on tv like my husband but i figured how often do you get to see so many great golfers up close all at once? they really transformed the golf course for this event (huge tents everywhere and fleming the 9 hole course was temporarily replaced as the practice area). it got cold and foggy at times but it didn't matter.

There are few municipal courses that are as good as Harding Park. The course is just challenging enough to keep you interested, and just fair enough to keep you coming back again, and again (and again). Walk the course - DO NOT RIDE as it is cart path only. It is a very easy walk, and you can pick up a trolley at the pro shop. SF regulars (lets call us *members*) do not play the blues unless we regularly shoot below 80; You should make the same self assessment when you hit the first tee.
You are not gonna shoot 100 at Harding, and you prolly aren't going to shoot 72 - it's gonna be somewhere in between, and that usually means you had a pretty good time.

Upon moving back to SF after grad school one of the first items I tended to was getting my SF resident card to get the resident rate at Harding Park.  Yes, the rounds can be slow on the weekends, and yes they are maintaining the course in a different manner this summer due to the President's Cup in October.  But all in all, it's the best deal for golf in the Bay Area (with the resident card, that is).
Plus, I've had pretty good luck getting some $$ matches with the people that I'm paired up with... The back nine is also way better than the front nine as it plays around the perimeter on the course.

Its been four months since Jen L's review and they obviously havent looked into their staffers defiencies.  When she played, I guess they thought they were the best ticket in town, which they obviously aren't.  I played after the President's Cup.  And now, apparently, their sh!t doesn't stink.  The only, and I mean only polite person I met on their staff was the starter.  And he had no idea what he was doing because we finished the first hole and were ready to move to the second.  But the foursome ahead of us was waiting for the foursome ahead of them to TEE OFF.  You heard it right.  There were TWELVE people on the second tee box.

PRESIDENTS CUP was a joke!  Went Thursday, won't go back!  Can't bring in water, they want you to pay $3.50 a bottle (no drinking fountains either!).  The food was AWFUL!!!!  The breakfast sandwich was a microwaveable egg sandwich and served it to you still in the microwave wrapper!  The burger was a joke!  I don't mind spending money on food and drink at an event like this, but this was TERRIBLE!  Do yourself a favor, watch the Cup from home, at least you'll be able to see the players for more than one hole...Harding Park should be ashamed of theirselves, totally "for profit" not concerned at all with the servicing the patrons.  The only good part was the Stella Artois for $6.50 a pop, that's reasonable.

I don't know how good a deal it would be without my resident's card, in fact, I may be quite disappointed considering that the weather is nice so infrequently.  The place is well kept, the staff is friendly, and they keep groups moving along at a good pace.

For $45, it's a steal.  Thank you SF taxpayers for subsidizing Harding because I've hear that they lose a ton of money each year.

I consider myself to be a very experienced golfer and have played many golf courses in the Bay and around the world (used to play golf for Cal - go Bears!)  Very disappointed with the individuals running the Pro Shop @ Harding Park. I've tried to make tee times on several occasions and have never played because I am so turned off everytime I call them.

I am not an SF resident (maybe this makes a world of difference???), however, I am a strong believer in treating people kindly regardless.  If you cannot accommodate, no problem.  Just be polite about it - offer some alternative dates/times.  You were like any other public golf course before the PGA gave you such recognition and now you have this idea that you're in the same exclusive ranks as the Augusta Nationals and Cypress Points.  Please check yourself.  San Francisco is a classy city and golf is a classy sport.  Please Harding Park, replace the rude, unprofessional and classless individuals in the Pro Shop and find those who can properly represent this golf course and the city of San Francisco.  Just because you are a muni, doesn't mean you have to act like one...

I love being able to get my tee time a week in advance.  SF Resident Card kicks ass!

I love that my round plus cart was $54.  SF Resident Card kicks ass!

I love that the course was in great shape.

I loved playing with 2 affable VERY veteran Yahoo employees.  One of whom has a Ferrari.

I loved playing with good players, because I always play better around people who are good.  Competitive drive and all that.

I loved playing in a constantly changing whirl of fog, mist, lemon-yellow sunlight, light breezes, and patches of crystal blue sky.

I loved playing on a Thursday, while my boss was at work.

So, take all that, and add special ingredients, like:

+lots of pars
+couple birdies
+long & straight off the tee
+double Captain & Coke on the 5th hole, only $10
+putts LIKE A MAD MAN.  Can we say only 1 three-putt, children?  I knew you could!  Can we say 5 greens 1-putted?  Well done again!  Focus, thy name is B2P.

Short irons weren't as sticky as I would have liked, but I'll walk away with an 82 in my pocket, on my third round OF THE YEAR any day of the week.

It's an easy game folks.  You just hit the ball in the hole.  Now, I'm going to go find some bourbon, and then wrap myself around a wad of Tokyo Go-Go in about an hour.  It's a tough life, I admit, but some fabulous bastard has to live it.

UPDATE:  USING A CART WITH "CARTPATH ONLY" RULES ADDS 1/2 HOUR TO A ROUND OF GOLF.  IT'S A FACT.  FACTOR IN THE EXTRA TIME AS WELL FOR ALL THE VISITORS PLAYING THE COURSE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THE 1/2 HOUR STRETCHES EVEN LONGER!

What a great layout!  And you play the same grounds as golf's current greatest pro's play (Amex, Presidents Cup, etc).

With a residents card it's a steal  Without the card it's a "play it once in awhile when you can afford it".

Harding Park - can I suggest something?  I know the visitors pay a premium and a cart is included, but with the Cart Path Only rule in effect it's much better for them to take a Pull-Cart.  All too often I get paired up with visitors who take the cart only to wait forever for them to walk all the way across the fairway to only have to walk back because they have the wrong club.  It's a flat course and 99% of the visitors can handle the walk and everyone will have a much more enjoyable experience.

Fleming course: Not bad for beginners like me.

Definitely a good 9-hole test for anyone beginning the game to see how he/she will fare against a decent course.  From the men's tee, there are 3 par-4's ranged in the 260-425yds (two of them are difficult dogleg left), 3 long par-3's in the 190-235yds, and the rest are short par-3's 140-165yds that will test your ball placement skills (avoiding trees and greenside bunkers).  The place is well kept for a public course that sees a good amount of players.  Greens aren't bad either.  Be sure to look for the sprinkler head yardage markers or bring a Skycaddie.

Just like others have said, there is hardly a wait typically on the first tee, although play can get really slow (2+ hrs) when you catch up to the groups in front of you.  Went there on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30pm and had to wait for two foursomes off Hole 5 235yds par 3.

$30 green fee on weekends ($22 with SF resident card).  They have a nice range with about 25 stalls at $5 for 50 balls, but it can get really crowded especially during weekends.

Sigh -- so Harding used to be 'Chez Jay,' but I think it is finally time for an update.  Both courses are still some of the best around, but the range has officially become a complete bust.  They've recently replaced the faux-grass/mat-strip setup with some new-age range turf, and it is absolutely trash.  Good luck keeping your balance, because I'm always bouncing around on that stuff like a three dollar hooker.  Pretty sad, to be honest.  If it weren't for Fleming and the free short-game area, I would probably only see Harding when actually playing 18 holes.  Weak.  At least they got the President's Cup coming up... some other positive notes remain:

1) The 18-hole course is an absolute gem.  The quality of the layout and ridiculous conditions are unheard of for a muni.  Good luck getting a group tee time on the weekends, though.

2) The 9-hole Fleming course is a great alternative when short on time and/or when playing with higher handicappers. The layout is a great representation of the full HP course, except only a third the length.  The 425 yard 7th is probably the most difficult par 4 on the entire premises.  And there is hardly ever a wait to tee off.  My only gripe is the price... 22 for res card holders and 30 for everyone else on the weekend.  As much as I like this small track, $22 is a little steep for just over 2000 yards.  And 30 bucks for everyone else?  Yikes.  If you plan on playing relatively often, it would behoove you to get a resident card as quickly as possible.  Or you can just stick it to the man and just play two balls the whole time.  Which is nice.

3) SF resident card rates.  Learn it. Know it. Live it.

4) The short game practice area was just opened up for FREE use (used to be 8 bucks an hour).  Granted, they now maintain it a bit less than before, but you really cant complain about free short game practice including bunkers and areas for chipping/pitching.  Especially when most other ranges charge for the same service.

Best Public Course in The City hands down.

Only Glen Eagles is tougher. The conditions are always perfect. Oh yeah the PGA plays here too. Get a residents card or its $110+ to play with cart $92 to walk I think.

Some of the players and most of the staff here are pretentious as hell but at the price you gotta kind of expect it.

I'm a Hacker so maybe that's why they're on my ass but I paid too so F@*k You guys relax you'll live longer, Golf is still a game and meant to be fun. And thats why you dont get The big 5 stars.

Review moved over from "Harding Course" listing.

Original review written 8/8/06, updated 1/9/08:
There is usually almost no/little wait for the 9-hole Fleming course at Harding Park.  No reservations needed for Fleming, just walk on.  Nicely kept, especially for a muni course (thanks to the Harding side's PGA renovations).  $30 w/o a resident card, $22 with resident card on weekends.  It's such a pain in the ass to get an SF resident golf card (~$45) but I got one anyway.  You have to go to city hall in person during business hours and bring proper proof of residence.

The driving range is pleasant too.  It has enough available spaces and it's wide, open air, and long (unlike the one at Golden Gate Park).  $5 per bucket.  Bring $1 or $5 bills.  No change machine.

If you are looking for a 9 hole golf course that feels like simply 1/2 of an 18 hole course--this is not your course.  Go to Gleneagles and prepare to be frustrated because Gleneagles is just down right tricky.  Fleming is not that tricky.  But it is no walk in the park either--for that go to the park, literally, and check out Golden Gate park's 9 hole course.  Fleming is very well kept up, the holes are not too difficult and not too easy, and there are a few par 4's that are decently long and allow use of woods and long irons.  I played this morning for the first time and truly enjoyed myself.  The location in gorgeous as it is set in the middle of the 18 hole course at Harding park, right on lake merced.  Good golfing in the city.  Can't beat that.

****Update****
Have now become a somewhat-regular at Fleming.  I love it more every time I play.  The upkeep is killer and for a 9 holer it is hard to beat.  And there is hardly ever a wait.  Get the hint?  This is a great course, check it out.

I hate to be the one who "firsts" Fleming, given how many other people have reviewed it under Harding's banner, but Fleming deserves its own review. I got out and played Fleming for the first time today, and it is a wonderful 9-hole course for fine-tuning your game.

The course plays par 30 - so there are six par 3 holes and three par 4's. Think of it as a mini-Harding. Fleming plays on the interior of Harding's back 9 - and if you've ever played Harding you've at least seen some of the yellow flags marking Fleming's layout.

The holes vary in length from easy to reach par 3s of 130 yards to "hit & hope" 235 yard par 3's. The par 4 holes are fair tests of golf, varying from 400 to 450 yards from the white tees, when they are moved back.

I walked on at noon on a Wednesday. The pro shop staff were extremely courteous (I love those guys at Harding, really I do), got me processed and out the door in less than two minutes. The course itself was near-empty. I saw a few groups ahead of me, but never caught them. I had the green light to hit when ready for the entire round.

I played 9 holes in under 90 minutes. Alone. With a lot of the same views you get while playing Harding and (this is the important part) the same condition fairways & greens. The greens at Fleming are in great shape, better than Lincoln, GGP, Sharp or Glen Eagles. In fact, the only muni in town with greens close to or better than Fleming's are...Harding!

Fleming has all of the same amenities as Harding: clubhouse, range, practice greens, etc. It is the best "executive course" in the city, and my new found home for quick rounds.

Walk-Ability: 5 stars
Condition/maintenance: 5 stars

I want to give this course 5 stars but I can't because of the gun range across the lake.  Constant shots being fired during the entire round... I know its not Hardings fault, but definitely got annoying after a while.

Besides that, Harding is GREAT.  Easy to walk, course is well taken care of, and the club house is pretty nice too. Oh and the price with resident card is unbeatable.

I was lucky enough to sneak out here at Harding Park with not long ago, and enjoy a pleasant if chilly and socked-in summer morning round with an old friend and a couple of his unsuspecting colleagues.

In getting out early, the pace of play was good, unlike memories past of 5 and a half hour death marches here on weekend afternoons trying to race the sundown.

This course is a really enjoyable walking course with a challenging but fair layout.  We played from the blue tees at which the course plays over 6700 yards.  That means even good drives leave long irons to the greens, and if you are not striping it off the tee, expect a lot of hacking out of the rough.

If you're not a San Francisco resident card holder, find someone who is and have them call a week in advance to set you up with a tee time.

Harding Park is a fabulous SF golf course.. with a resident card, it's a great deal too...  I mean, $40 for a PGA quality course is hard to beat..  The Amex Championship will play here in October..

Since they lengthened it out a few years ago, the course is in great shape and now drains pretty well...

The course is challenging and really fun to play -- Not every hole warrants hitting driver off the tee, and some interesting doglegs make playing at Harding an enjoyable thinking game.  From the back 9 you can look across the lake and see the Olympic Club...

Also not to be missed is the 9 hole short course, Fleming...

If you play golf, live in the city, and have a few extra dollars...play this course at least a couple times. The fairways are great. The greens are pretty consistent, and the traps make this course very challenging.

Don't expect to play a low score, just enjoy the experience. I recommend walking if they won't allow the 90* rule when you go. Getting a cart that can only be driven on the path isn't very helpful. And check in with the starter 10 minutes before tee time.

I'm a huge fan of this course.  5 stars for that.  Nuff said.

Drawbacks...
(-1 star): some of the employees (esp. a couple of the starters) are just flat out weird/rude.  The marshals are jerks.  I won't even lie about that.  They'll drive/slam on the brakes/talk on the walkie-talkies during your backswing.  I've never liked them...probably never will.

The cart-path only rule (mind you, this is a 365 days-a-year rule) is just retarded.  Rather than changing the rule, my suggestion is to get rid of carts completely (except under medical circumstances).  I swear to god/God that the course would actually play under 5 hours consistently if it weren't for carts.  Word of wisdom to non-locals: DON'T GET A CART.  It's not that bad of a walk, and you'll spend more time running to and from your cart anyways.  Grab a pull cart if you need one and DON'T GET RIPPED OFF.

What a way to end the day after a golf game at Harding.  For one thing, it is hard to get tee time there and this is our first time back since renovation.  When we went to check in, we noticed the Happy Hour sign for the Clubhouse.  They had hamburger and fries for $5.00 and they had some alcohol beverages for $3.00, such a Margarita, Bloody Mary, and beer.  We decided to give it a try after our game.  We all ordered the hamburger and fries.  The hamburger was delicious.  It is simple, but delicious...a half pound patty, lettuce and tomato on a sesame bun.  The fries were the best to me...thin fries, really crispy, not burnt and not oily.  We all agreed that this was the best hamburger we have had in a long time.

As for the drinks, I wanted a blended Margarita, but they only had it on the rocks.  I passed on this but my friend ordered one.  I normally like my Margaritas blended, but upon taking a sip from my friend, it was quite delicious.  I had to order one for myself.

Not only is the food great, so is the atmosphere.  The clubhouse is surrounded by glass windows where one can sit by the window and look out at the 18th hole, at the lake or watch the sunset.  Or, if you are a sports enthusiast, there are two flat screen TVs with different games going on.

This place is great for families also.  When we were there, there was a family of 8 having a great time and enjoying their meals.

I would definitely go back.

Location: Really nice layout, weaving in and out of the trees my only thought is that too bad it couldn't be closer to the water.

Value: Residents card is a steal, my dad was an out of towner and honestly it is over priced (still a better deal than Presidio though!)

Course: Really nice solid course, in good shape with some nice layouts.  No boring holes.

Overall: Great golf experience, awesome deal with the residents card - without it I'd probably head out of the city to Cinnabar or something else.

This is a 4-star track and a 6-star value with a resident card.  Playing a course of even remotely equivalent quality during peak times for $60 is unheard of in the bay area.  Every once in a while some minor problem reminds you that it's a muni -- the sand has become pretty hardpacked and the rakes are terrible, for instance -- but at such a low cost it's easy to ignore.

And for AP, the 1-star whiner below--

Golf is NOT a 'game of privilege.'  Harding is a public course that has no income, race, gender, orientation, or skill requirements.  Instead of getting fucked up one of these coming Saturdays, go to bed, get up early on Sunday, buy a set of clubs for $20 at a yard sale, and play the Fleming course for another $20.  You'll have fun, meet new friends, enjoy the outdoors, be introduced to a challenging and rewarding pastime, and get some exercise for less than the cost of one night at a bar.

Get a resident's golf card.

Then go play one of the best municipal cources in the entire nation.

This place is fantastic.

Call ahead.  Tee times are hard to come by on the weekends.

Simply a treat to have such a treasure in our great city!  I'll never forget watching Daly hit a 377 yard drive and walking the course with Tiger.  What a day!  And to be able to walk up and play any day is certainly a SF treat!!

Meet ya at the 19th!

It's a wonderful course but, it would be nice to be able to get a tee time before noon. It seems like all the best tee times are given to "regulars". Even with my resident card green fees are still a bit pricey for my taste.

If you enjoy Harding then I suggest you try Blue Rock Springs(Vallejo). Just as beautiful and actually the East Course is a joy to play. Challenging, yet not too tough to the point where you get frustrated.

This is one of my favorite Bay Area golf courses. Since the redesign, it's gone from an OK public course to a world class gem. The views are outstanding,  and the course is well maintained.  This is a course to walk since it's relatively flat (don't bother with a  cart unless you need one, since carts generally are not allowed on the fairways - not even 90 degrees).

If you're a San Francisco resident with a Resident's Card, Harding Park is the best deal around ($48 dollars on the weekends compared to $138 for non-residents). If you're a San Francisco resident without a card, stop reading this review and go get one now! It's hard to get a good advanced tee time via the phone system one week ahead of time, but if you're willing to spend an extra $10 you can get a tee time a month in advance.  The renovated clubhouse has decent food and a killer view of the 18th hole.

The city spent a ton of money renovating this golf course, but you still have the same sh?%ty service, and conditions do suffer at times due to the volume of play, can't believe they're hosting a President's Cup here, but I'll bet I know how they got it.  There's so many other great courses in the area, here's a link to some of the best you can play, try around, put Harding down your list if you're in town to play: http://forelinksters.c...

One of the best 9 holes I've ever played.  The course is maintained well and you can actually hit your driver on a couple of these holes.   Its cheaper to play to two rounds here than to pay full price on the actual course.  For an easier 9 hole give golden gate park or mariners point a try.

SO rude! My sister previously wanted to play there and when she called she spoke with someone who was completely rude and would not help her at all. Granted, I called there today to try and set up a tee time for my Dad for Father's Day. I am a resident of San Francisco. In asking to set up a tee time, I let them know I was a resident and taking my Dad for Father's Day. In doing so, they proceeded to tell me that I only could receive the resident rate, my father would be charged the full rate because it is about where the "golfer" is a resident. I asked that even though I was taking my Dad and paying for him as a Father's Day gift wouldnt it then be applicable to pay a resident fee for both. In response I get a very rude, "irregardless of who is paying, the charge is for where the golfer resides". Is there a reason to be rude about it first of all? And secondly, irregardless of who is paying?? Isn't that where you are getting your money from Harding Park? From those who are paying? Pebble, Spanish Bay, and Spyglass all would either consider waiving the fee (I've had fees waived) or at least been tactful about it. Aren't companies supposed to be based on customer service? Irregardless of money or customer service, because I don't care how much it costs I just want to have a nice day with my Dad for Father's Day, I obviously won't be golfing here for Father's Day or really any other day. Doesn't customer service distinguish the mediocre from the exceptional?
