14 reviews for Hard Rock Hotel
I'm typing this in the lobby of the hotel!
My family is asleep and I made myself an "awesome" cup of coffee and found a nice cozy spot on one of the sofas in the lobby. All while listening to The Stones, ELO, and other asst rock music.
Whenever we come to Universal, it just makes sense to stay at one of the universal hotels. You get front of line guest status, it just makes everything more enjoyable.
Now for the reviews:
Lobby - Fa-king awesome! You get to lounge like a rock star with free wi-fi and cool music.
Rooms- Nice clean rooms, they make the beds with some snap to them! Everything is nice and clean. Great free coffee selections. Don't drink the bottled water! Why do ask? Because the Big Fiji water cost $7 bucks!
Restaurants - Here is where I want to take off a few stars. very expensive. I'd rather eat at City Walk.
Pool- Again, I want to take off a star. Yeah, movie night is cool. But seriously, the deepest part is under 4 feet ? WTF People?
Dogs - Yes, you can bring your dog here! I am a dog nut and I would love to bring the poochies here but, I'm not sure they would travel well.
*Bonus - this hotel is so hip they give you free iTunes downloads. I had to fight to the death with my teenager for thoses mamasitas!
I want to take off a star but the hotel is so friggin cool that I give it 5 stars from me, NYBULLY seal of approval.
Rock on!
Cool rock and roll memorabilia everywhere in the lobby and the bar ("Velvet")...Elton John's glasses, Madonna's concert outfit, guitars, gold records, etc. Really friendly and helpful staff at the front staff, luggage services and at the business center. Cool musician quotes written everywhere too...on the walls, the napkins, the little notepads by the phone, etc.
The individual rooms are surprising beige for a rock and roll hotel. I thought there would at least be purple carpets or leopard armchairs or something...more like the lobby or bar area. Though the Beatles photos on the wall were great- I love the Beatles. But otherwise, the rooms are just like a really plain, low-grade Sheraton or Hilton.
Pounding music in the lobby is great when going to the bar at night but not at 8am when heading toward a meeting, or trying to fit in a conference call outside the meeting rooms. Also weird- huge U-shaped leopard patterned seating lounge area in the bathroom off the lobby...what could this be used for? I don't think I'm rock and roll enough to know.
The restaurant "The Kitchen" is awful...sooooo slow that I almost missed my meeting and I had to eventually take my food to go. I ordered a caesar salad...how long could that have taken? 40 minutes.
Really nice grounds and a very short stroll to Universal Studios and Citywalk. The room key card can be used as the front-of-line express lane for the rides. I was here for work and the resort arranged a fun corporate team scavenger hunt throughout the theme park. Meeting space and the lobby dining area was flawless and perfect for our use.
Other than the hiccup with The Kitchen restaurant, everything else went without a hitch. I prefer the Royal Pacific polynesian vibe more when I vacation so if I came back, I would go there instead.
Pros: The calamari at the hotel restuarant is outstanding, walking access into Universal Studios Parks, pool is top notch with "dive in movies" for the kids, very clean hotel with lots of staff that were helpful.
Cons: Very small rooms, pricey, parking lot always seemed full.
A great hotel that is a blast to hang in. Check out the costumes on the walls of real rock stars.
"You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave." Best hotel in Universal.
I recently stayed in this hotel to escape the cold of Chicago.
This is an amazing hotel from start to finish; definitely one of the best ones to stay in. We stayed on the club floor, which had its very own private lounge which served food all day long. It even distributed free alcohol during happy hour.
PROS:
-AMAZING housekeeping. Not only would they clean my room multiple times per day, but they also would add their own unique touch, such as organizing our toiletries and leaving my gfs stuffed animals at the head of the bed. She was so impressed.
-Incredible pool. It is very large and music plays underwater. It is surrounded by white sand on one side and even has a slide.
-Two hot tubs. One for everyone and a more private one just for adults.
-Variety of dining choices.
-PERFECTLY manicured plants and trees.
-Free boat service to other Universal hotels and CityWalk. This can be romantic in the evenings.
-Hotel key can be used as an express ticket at Universal theme parks to get to the front of lines. A++ idea.
Cons:
-We arrived in the early afternoon and our room wasn't ready. Although the staff said that they would place a rush on the room, it wasn't ready until the normal check-in time. Somewhat annoying.
-Lots of kids. Much more than I would expect for a hotel like this.
Overall, we were both extremely impressed with the place and I would definitely recommend staying there.
This is your hotel if you love music history and appreciate attentive staff. The rooms are modern and have cool pictures of famous musicians. The bathroom was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel was easy to get around in.
The water taxi makes it easy to get to Riverwalk, but the walk over is not long so do it at least once. Pool area is fun and they are always playing music.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
Solid Hotel, and clearly meant for families because its based in Orlando. Doesnt have the same edge as other Hard Rock Hotels in other cities but still a solid venue and good pools.
Overall a good experience, but I was there on business and the staff's attitude was a little too laid back for my liking.
The room was nice, but I was expecting a better decor. The stark white walls weren't very inviting. Great location!
I love staying at hotels.....and you know what I love most about this hotel? The fact you can hear music under the water while you swim.
Fun!!
Seriously I don't know why but this tickles me. :)
This place gets 5 stars, just for the staff alone! Incredibly friendly, attentive, and polite. The room was a decent size; plush, comfortable and with the hard rock memorabilia in each room. The pool is awesome too. They show movies poolside at least once a week. City walk is either a short walk, or a pleasant boat ride away. If you're being the tourist and going to the parks, I would definitely recommend this place to stay.
One really cool thing about this hotel: they play music under water. If you go there, just swim around under water in the pools- I remember hearing Love Shack! It was hilarious! Anyways, the rooms are really nice and spacious, plus it's a short walk to the parks. The hotel has a great location.
Great spot to stay while in Orlando. Rooms are a decent size, price was reasonable, pool area is fun. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is ok but a little on the pricey side as you might expect. There is a Palm restaurant onsite as well. The water shuttle to Universal is super convenient and a no stress way to get to the park. Really enjoyed my stay here.
I'm staying here on a business trip- so I can't comment on the price- but the rooms are really lush and comfy, the staff is friendly and nice and the overall experience a nice one. The only 4 stars is the BS of having to pay to use the gym- that really threw me for a loop and the overall higher price that you have to pay for a cup of yogurt. I guess that is just how it is in these kinds of areas. Overall though- I would def. recommend the hardrock- and it's a quick walk to the parks!
Just stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend and had a blast! The staff was great, rooms were nice (shower was unbelievable!), and the location can't be beat! The pool scene was awesome as well, although it was a little difficult find a good place to lay in the sun because of the abundance of palm trees shading the area. The only annoying thing was that there were high school cheerleaders & dancers EVERYWHERE (there for a competition at Universal), so be wary of this time of year if immature teenage girls aren't exactly who you like to be surrounded with. I felt bad for all the pool waitresses running back and forth for virgin daqari's all day long. Other than that, it was a delightful experience!
