Mister picked this hotel because it was #2 on Travelocity. It's cute, small and the rooms are nice and clean + it's away from the touristy area of Charleston, so it's quiet. The hotel is also just off the tourist center, yet close enough to walk almost everywhere. And the hotel staff were so helpful with suggestions and directions.
Our room had a King Tempurpedic bed and though it was right in the Atrium, it was very quiet.  I recommmend the Harbourview Inn- when we come back to Charleston (soon I hope), we'll stay here again.

As Inn's go in Charleston, this is a very good place to stay since it is located in the center of the main part of town.  Close to restaurants, shops, art, and a quick drive to get over to Sullivan's Island for some beach time.

The staff is very professional and helpful.  Afternoon snacks and drinks are a nice touch and they valet your car.

Pricing is way under $300 per night and a value considering some of the pricing of other places in and around this establishment.

Great location.  Great views.  Great staff - very friendly.  Included in price: afternoon tea, breakfast in your room, wine and cheese, and cookies and milk.  Rooms are smaller than I would have expected for the price.

I'd consider myself a no-frills lodgings person- give me a coffee maker, give me a fridge, give me a room that doesn't have dirty touch marks on the doors and light fixtures (and properly working climate control) and I'll be happy.

So for me, the Harbourview Inn was a bit of a dissappointment.
(please note my stay was in July 2007, so things may have changed since.)

I do give it a reluctant 4 stars.  I stayed in one of the historic suites.  I liked the cookies, tea and coffee.  Nice touch.  I liked the rooftop deck and view of the harbor and adjacent park.  The valet service was very good- the valets at the time were polite and helpful.

Having a memory foam mattress was a nice plus.  The room safe was bulky and secure.

The window shades needed a lock to stay open, and in our case, I had to use a luggage case or magazines, otherwise it hung loose in the middle of the window.

Its in a great location, close to everything with a good rooftop view of the harbor, which is reflected in the price.  For what I paid, I thought I would be getting more for what I paid.  I was a bit underwhelmed.  To that extent, the next time I'm in Charleston, I'll probably end up trying another place.

Overall, though, you'll probably be satisfied with your stay.

While it's true the staff was very nice and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds, I'm not sure that is all I should get for $350/night.

The wine/cheese was laid out in a dark, crowded area of the hotel.  Why they are not playing up their strengths (the view) is beyond me.  Both mornings we went down for breakfast, there were 2 bran muffins in an otherwise empty plexiglass case.  Again, not what I'd expect for the price.  3 baskets of cookes on a cart by the front desk being picked over by kids isn't exactly appetizing either.

There is no fitness center, business center, bar, restaurant, or sundries shop.  Those were all major disappointments.

Also, we had a penthouse room that was MUCH smaller than we expected.  Maybe 200 sq. ft. not counting the bathroom.

My husband picked this place because he thought it was the best of the best, but after our trip we realized that there would have been many better options for us for about $150-$200 cheaper/night.

I say save the money and spend it on dining and shopping!

The Harbourview Inn is a lovely place to stay while in Charleston. The Inn location was great and close to riverfront and all the best restaurants in Charleston.

The staff was extremely attentive and quick. Our room was beautiful and extremely clean. We particurlarly liked the Tempurpedic Bed, a great little touch. We enjoyed our stay at the Harbourview Inn very much.

I was really pleased with this hotel, and it was a very reasonable price. Absolutely all the appointments were up to date in the rooms and the bathroom was especially well done. Staff were really friendly and the location was excellent - centrally located yet at the end of a nice quiet street. We had a room with beautiful exposed brick and amazingly high ceilings. The breakfast was more than generous and I love that they bring it to your room. Free wi-fi too. I love this hotel!

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. I stayed here for one night with my family and we were very impressed with the service and amenities. We loved all the extras included in our room rate - wine and cheese in the evening, milk and cookies at night, turndown service with chocolates, and breakfast! I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Charleston.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding back in 2008.  It was a fantastic hotel, located right in the center of everything.  We stayed in a historic wing room, and it was great.  The staff was fantastic, and even though it wasn't cheap, we were willing to splurge - it was our wedding weekend after all, and it was totally worth it.  I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
