Don't expect this place to be like the ritz carlton ...
But it was clean, and wasn't as noisy as everyone said it was ...
The room was nice and clean, and the bathroom had good upgrades...
Its less than 10 minutes away from the Gas Lamp District.
If you are planning on getting LIT UP!
I would recommend walking from here to the gas lamp district (Sober)
around 10pm ish ... Then taking a CAB back to the hotel (Cost around 15 dollar or less) ...
Not much else to say ... But its a nice quiet little spot that doesn't have crack heads running around ...
I booked this spot on priceline ... gave me a sick deal ... less than 60 bucks ... FREE WIFI TOO!!! (Kind of slow, but good enough just to browse the web) -

More than you ever wanted to know about Harborview Inn & Suites:
We had a horrible experience here 4 years ago. I didn't really know about Yelp way back then, and I mostly forgot about the place. Recently, though, I started working downtown again, and I often drive by this place on the way home. Every time I do, I get really, really p*ssed off all over again. But I'm driving. So I can't really do anything about it. And Yelp won't let me post reviews from my phone. So it's taken me this long to actually get on a computer to write this. Here we go...
In October 2007, my husband and I were in Maui for my sister's wedding. While we were there, San Diego caught on fire (again). Our home in Del Mar Heights was evacuated, and it sounded like the place we had boarded our dog was going to be evacuated as well. We were anxious to get back to San Diego to reunite with our pooch and see if we could make a run for some of our belongings. We needed a place to stay that was not in "the danger zone," and that took pets. We surveyed the options from a small internet cafe in Pai'a, Maui. As the fire had already been burning for a couple of days, pickin's were slim. Harborview Inn & Suites made the short list. In the ten minutes since we'd been online, the price had already doubled from $60 a night to $120. Before we were able to complete our reservation, the price was up to $200 a night, an increase of over 300%! We kept watching the price tick up before our very eyes! I called the hotel to complain but the man at the front desk said that it was beyond his control. By this point, there were really no other options that would allow a dog, so we decided to keep our reservation. A girlfriend of mine called me later that evening, as she and her mother and their dog and two cats were being evacuated from North County. I told her that we had made reservations at the Harborview Inn & Suites, and that they took pets. She called to make a reservation, and they wanted to charge $259 (!!!) a night, plus a $100 fee for EACH pet! (I was not told there was a charge for my dog). This was only hours after I had booked! I called back and tried to reason with the man at the front desk, but to no avail. In any other situation you would have to pay ME to stay here, but we really had no other choice. It wasn't until we arrived that I truly realized just how mad I should really be. Did you ever see the movie BIG with Tom Hanks, where he spends the first night in some skeezy flea-bag motel? That is what this place was like! Now, let me just say, I have not set foot in this place in 4 years. Perhaps it has been cleaned/remodeled and/or is under new and improved ownership. I am just providing a very belated account of my experience here. It was awful. Dirty, scuzzy, and scary, with some of the doors boarded off, a broken window, and a carpet and linens I was afraid to touch with bare-anything. AND, on a normal night, I could have gotten a room at the W for about the same price! At $55 a night, maybe you're getting what you pay for, but at $200 (or $259!), it was absurd, and made 100 times more so by the fact that they were capitalizing on the misfortune of the residents in our beautiful community. As you can probably tell, to this day, I am incensed when I think about it. I actually wrote a letter to the Attorney General to report Harborview for their blatant and unrepentant price-gouging, but unfortunately, I don't think anything ever came of it. In my opinion, a business that would conduct themselves in this manner does not deserve our patronage. -

This place is HORRIBLE. If I could give less than 1 star, I would.
I booked a room at the Italian Bed & Breakfast 4 months in advance. I called 3 days before my stay to confirm my reservation. I showed up to check in and... no one is at the B&B to check me in. Instead there is a sign on the door telling me to go to the cheap hotel across the street (Harborview Inn) to check in.
I get there and the owner of the Harborview Inn, an Indian woman named Lila, tells me that the Italian B&B is overbooked and that I can stay in the Harborview Inn.
Well, I was expecting a charming, romantic B&B, and I was given a room in a cheap hotel of the same caliber as a Motel 6. Of course, I complained, but Lila maintained that she was not responsible, knew nothing about the overbooking, and barely knows the manager of the B&B. In fact, she told me she didn't even know the B&B's manager's last name, only that his first name is Jay. I later found out that she in fact OWNs both the Harborview Inn AND the B&B! And the manager Jay is her son!!!! What a LYING BITCH!!!
So I stayed in the crappy Harborview Inn. It's dirty. It smells like smoke. The bed is uncomfortable. It's loud. You can carry on a conversation through the walls without raising your voice. You hear the car traffic and airplanes at night. It doesn't feel secure. The door to hotel remains unlocked. There are security camera's in the lobby. And the neighboring buildings have bars on their windows. The breakfast at Harborview is horrible. It's frozen waffles, toast and orange juice from concentrate.
The only saving grace is the B&B's chef Ashley. She is wonderfully kind, friendly and an excellent chef. Her breakfast is absolutely delicious!!!
Moral of the story: DON'T STAY HERE!!!! They owner's are SNAKES and don't deserve your business. -

Version 1: If you are thinking of staying here...DON'T!!!! The money will be better spent somewhere else!
Version 2: (the full account of my travesty of a stay here)
The pictures you see are not accurate. There are no giant flat screens. I was there with several friends, in all the rooms we occupied we had older (90's model) tube TVs.
The beds were horrible, they squeaked and looked like they came from the mid 80's. There was no fitted sheet, or a mattress pad. In fact every night one of the people (or more) would end up sleeping directly on the mattress because the bottom sheet would come undone. The bathroom was poorly upgraded the towel bar which had no bar, just the 2 pieces to hold the bar up, and one of those was even hanging by only a screw. The paint job ATROCIOUS! It's called Painter's Tape...invest in some. The towels might as well have been made from sand paper. And the water pressure, or lack there of made for a really nasty shower. The only reason we stayed was there was we had booked this online through Priceline and weren't able to get a refund, otherwise we would have gladly gone elsewhere!
Now, for the worst of it all! On our second night we got back to the hotel only to find out we had misplaced our keys. We went into the office and were told that there was an "extra fee" because there were 4 of us in the room. Only problem there, we had booked the room for 4 people when we made the reservation online! A real rip off!
The customer service skills here are DESPICABLE! The woman at the front desk couldn't be bothered to help us when we walked in, instead she took a personal call and made us wait. She treated us like criminals even though we had all our paper work in order.
BTW - if you have a problem with small spaces the elevator could send you into a full blown panic attack! -

This is a nice place to stay when visiting San Diego. It is walking distance from the restaurants of Little Italy, and a five minute drive from the zoo. It is very inexpensive.
The room was clean, with a huge fancy tv, and even had a fridge/ microwave which was a nice surprise. It was all very clean and modern. The hotel had free wi-fi and parking. It seemed like they tried very hard to please. They allowed me to stay with a small dog for a $10 fee.
The room we had was not large, but who goes on vacation to sit in their room? Stay here, get a small room, and use the money you saved to go out and enjoy yourself. -

For over 100 dollars, I stayed in a room at this Harborview Inn. I counted 3 used q-tips on the carpet, a piece of dental floss, the sheets were dirty (as in stained AND crusty), the bathroom counter was dirty, the sink and the tub were gross. I should have slept in the car and kept my money.
I actually slept on top of the covers. It was that bad.
Additionally, no one was at the front desk at 11:30 when I went to ask whos q-tips were all over my floor. -

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE! It was so gross. When we checked in the manager had to scurry the people hanging out in the halls back into their rooms. As we were walking to our room there was piles of bed sheets in the hallways, like the manager was changing lots of sheets for hourly use customers. When we walked into the room it had clearly been used for more then just a nice overnight stay. My friends and I are all about supporting the small named hotels but this place I would never stay in again ever!
