I decided to go into Happy Teriyaki on a whim. A great decision! Coming from Southern California I am lucky enough to have a large variety of food experiences. This place reminded me of my favorite mom and pop place along the cost.
The staff was friendly and kind. The food was quick, hot and delicious. I decided to get their pork, beef, and chicken plate. My eyes were bigger then my stomach.
I have since gone again and decided to the take-out way. Again, the food was delicious. She gave me so much that I had lunch for work the next day!!!
I will definitely be going again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2010
We used to order from Happy Teriyaki (#4, if you're keeping count) in Aurora at work all the time, and I still stop in on occasion to try some of the Japanese and Korean options on offer.
My favorites include the beef-vegetable-rice bowl called Bibimbap (don't forget to mix the heck out of it for best flavor!), the Bulgogi (savory BBQ'd beef), the Spicy Chicken (usually called Dak Gui in Korean), and the California Roll. Yes, I know that one probably threw you for something of a loop. But it is very comforting and tasty to me for some reason.
Their rice is always perfectly cooked, the stirfried veggies on the side are crisp and flavorful and the drinks are available in Huge and Yikes! sizes. Really, what more could you ask for?
How do I love Happy Teriyaki #4? Well, let me count the ways.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 30110974811Dec 5, 2013
Last minute change of mind lead me to get order to go from here.
Lots of choices to fill you up at great prices. Spicy chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki is excellent and my favorite.
12/31/13. Had take out for coworker who wanted hot sauce on the side. Got tiny container of it. So disappointing. Salmon was still good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dan N.Lone Tree, CO25729880Dec 31, 2008First to Review
Yes, I'm a fan for "cheap asian."
I've been frequenting this unassuming little shop in Aurora for many years. I only order a couple of items off the menu; usually the Wedneday lunch special, of spicy chicken with vegetables & rice. At $5.45, you get a decent portion of stir-fry mostly white meat chicken, sauteed with a bit of Sriracha chile sauce. This is accompanied by a molded portion of white rice and your choice of sauteed vegetables or salad.
Nothing fancy, but good tucker. I've had their gyoza, and the standard fare chicken teryiaki dish. There are a number of Korean dishes as well... Bulgogi, Kalbi, etc.
The place is mostly Japanese fare, served by a Korean and Hispanic staff.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Tyler S.Denver, CO190257113Mar 19, 2013
I recently popped into this local joint after discovering it on Yelp, and am happy to have done so once again. Locally run and reasonably priced, Happy Teriyaki is serving up some good quality food in a welcoming atmosphere.
I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and Gyoza plate, which was a perfect amount for around $8. The woman who took my order was extremely friendly and made me feel right at home, the moment I walked in the door. The food was cooked exactly how I have had good quality Teriyaki in the past and I really don't have any complaints to report.
All-in-all I will definitely be back. I love to support the locally owned shops and am happy to have found this place as it has now beaten the bar for Tokyo Joes in my book.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mikey P.Aurora, CO5114781Nov 2, 2011
My moms friend used to own it and I loved it... But when she sold it, I've been avoiding it, until today.. So you deff don't come for ambiance! But it's really clean... There are some minor differences between the two owners..
Portions
They were bigger when my moms friend owned it. Yes I got bigger portions, but when she owned it the specials were bigger for everyone. The new owners specials are nuff to fill you up.
Flavor
Based on the same meal I had from both owners, the hot and spicy they're pretty much equal! The new ownew cuts it a tad thicker so you can taste chicken and spice rather then just spice.
Price
I always got my meals for free when it was my moms friend.. Unless I was with friends, which makes sense.. I'd always get free extras like Cali rolls or sesame chicken.. The new owner hasn't changed prices! You can't gor wrong with hot and spicy, rice, and salad for $5.99!!
Overall both owners old and new win... I just can't wait to try the Cali rolls and sesame chicken now!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ashley T.Aurora, CO1144Jun 26, 2013
My Asian boyfriend is always teasing me for ordering Sesame Chicken when we go to Asian restaurants, because it's not "real". At Happy Teriyaki he eats off my plate (I do the same with his Spicy Chicken), it's just the best sesame chicken out there; it's crisp, not over sauced, sweet/salty...I could go on and on.
Like I said the spicy chicken is also worth stealing off your dinner partner's plate, and with the large portions no one feel slighted. The rice is always perfect (sticky just like it should be) and the grilled veggies and AMAZING (grilled cabbage as weird as it sounds is delicious). They also have some sushi rolls on the menu, worth giving a try in my opinion.
The service is always quick and friendly, the food is super tasty, and it's a great to for any day of the week.
NOTE: they're located in a funny little section of a strip mall and from the street might seem a little "dive" like...do NOT let that hinder your plans for happy teriyaki.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - King B.Aurora, CO2754Nov 12, 2015
I miss this place so much they were truly the best spot for authentic Japanese food... Just letting you know you are missed and for months and months I've yet to find a replacement as good as this one. PLEASE come back and open a new shop your food is a necessity!

I love this place! I have been coming here for years and the owner is so friendly! The lunch rush does get packed so come early if you're short on time. Their california rolls are some of the best around. I think I've tried everything on the menu and have only had 1 item that I did not care for which was the Udon. It's hard to find a place that serves good Udon in Denver.
For quick service and low cost, you won't find a greater place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Adam O.Denver, CO3541Dec 8, 2013
