If your expecting Chinese delicacy, you should probably go to China.  BUT if you want good ole' trashy American Chinese this is your place!

This place serves typical dishes you can rely on. Sure the sauces might be a little heavy but they are tasty. I mean come on, you don't expect to get healthy nutrition out of a hot brownie? But you keep eating them. Do you get my logic?

Why this place is great:

1.) Clean!
2.) THEY DELIVER
3.) The staff speaks Engrish (no thats not a racist remark, it is a "I can say that cause I'm half Korean remark.)  They will serve you mushrooms instead of carrots if that is what you like.
4.) I've ordered from them at least 10 times and never been disappointed.

My fave dishes are: Mongolian Beef and Honey Walnut Prawns (if you order the HWP you should make sure to eat them while warm because it is not a good dish if it cools.

Check em out, they're worth it.

This is the best chinese food in the area.  Since moving here from NYC I've been searching for chinese food similar to what I grew up with - it's amazing how different it can be here in the Seattle area. Well, I finally found it!

The place is amazingly clean and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is wonderful.  I've eaten there three times now - twice for dinner and once for the lunch menu.  Today I tried the lunch special and was amazed at how much food it was:  entre, white or fried rice, soup and "appetizer of the day" (today it was a fried pork dumpling) for $6.  I've never had hot and sour soup I've liked before, anywhere, but for some reason I decided to order it here.  I was so savory and had such complexity of flavors - it was just wonderful!  I'll definitely order it again.

I love that the food is not swimming in grease and tastes fresh.  And rice comes with your meal, just like back in NY - it drives me crazy to pay extra for rice.

The egg foo yung had the most amazing brown sauce - not that congealed grayish whitish stuff that everyone else around here has.  And it was HUGE.

There are like 5 chinese restaurants here in West Seattle, but I'll still drive down to Burien for it.  It's THAT good!  And the funny thing is, I found it by accident - I saw a Happy Garden opened up downtown near my office and googled to see if it had a menu, and I found these reviews here on Yelp, and decided to go because it sounded good.  i think the one downtown is totally unrelated, and I haven't been there, but I'll definitely be going back to Burien!

Americanized Chinese food is so hit and miss. Happy Garden Chinese is always right on target. What started this love affair was their almond fried chicken.

I have now eaten there twice and ordered delivery once. Each time, I ordered the almond fried chicken. What normally is a greasy dish that later leaves me regretting my menu choice, this version is an actual chicken breast that is fried in a light and crispy panko breading on a bed of crisp cabbage -not the normal slimy lettuce. The sauce is not the neon yellow goo that I'm scared to eat (but usually still do), it is a perfectly seasoned brown kind of gravy. Accompanying this wonderful lunch is two scoops of slightly old rice (no big deal), a tasty and perfectly greasy eggroll, and the best hot and sour soup I have ever eaten. ALL FOR $5.45, which includes tax!! Best $5 meal I've ever had!

Here are the top 5 reasons that Happy Garden Chinese is my favorite Chinese place:
5. The Christmas decorations are still up.
4. They deliver for free.
3. Hot and sour soup.
2. This place is spotless. As a certified Germaphobe, not very many places get my stamp of approval. Please remember this when you read the last paragraph.
1. ALMOND FRIED CHICKEN!

Although the service is nothing to get excited about, I would definitely suggest you give it a try.

I've got to review this to get Happy Garden a little more respect! I'm not a big fan of americanized chinese food, and it takes something special to get me to come to one - this was christmas day, and no other restaurant was open, so my family went in!

I was pleasantly surprised by the clean and well-lit dining area, the staff was friendly and attentive. The menu choices are your basic chinese-american dishes with a smattering of more authentic fare. My daughter ordered lemon chicken, which indeed was covered in some extremely gooey sweet lemon sauce, not good. I had almond fried chicken, which I found to be moist and fresh, lightly fried and tasty. Hubby had chicken chow mein, which he spiced up to 5-stars and I didn't even try, but he was very pleased with. We also had an order of house special fried rice, which I thought was very good.

We've been back 3 times, and have tried other dishes and enjoyed all but the original lemon chicken. When we ordered sweet and sour pork, it didn't seem to have too much sauce on it. It might depend on the cook. I would ask for light sauce or on the side if you're worried about getting too much of the sweet stuff. The savory/spicy dishes never had a problem as far as I could see.

They also deliver all over burien, into seatac, and west seattle.

I'll continue to go back. I'm going to rate this on a scale of "affordable family-oriented americanized chinese restaurants". It's not anywhere near a true 4-star dining experience, but for what it is I think it's doing quite well.

Haven't been to the restaurant but as a newbie to the area tonight I phoned in a delivery order after seeing it on YELP.

Service was great.

Food D-LICIOUS!

Prices very LOW!

Will definitely be a steady, repeat customer.

Happy Garden is one of my favorite resturants.  The service is good and with a smile. People make you feel that it's not just about doing something for the money, it's because they are truly nice people.
The food tastes fresh and the way it suppose to taste. All delicate not too much or too less of spices.
You get lots of food and for the price you pay, in my opinion very affordable, you get a meal that gets you happy and satisfied.
They also do deliveries.

Lunch menu is a good value - large plate of food, egg roll and choice of soup.  The hot and sour soup was incredibly good.  I wish you got the crunchy noodles to dip the soup into, though.  Am I just imagining that Chinese places would also give fried strips of crispy goodness with your soup?

I ordered sweet and sour chicken because I hadn't had it in awhile and GROSS!  The chicken was literally smothered in sauce.  Who would eat that?  I mixed all of my rice into it, in the hopes of scraping off a lot of the sauce, with no luck.  Most of the meal was unsalvagable.  I normally ask for sauce on the side and this time I didn't, with dire results.  Definitely, definitely ask for sauce on the side.

Plain atmosphere, okay service.
