I'm pretty ambivalent with this place at the moment because it was my first Asian massage (as apposed to European). I was mainly interested because there was a sign for a $16.99 1 hour massage in front of their center.
When I initially entered and inquired about the $16.99 massage, a lady told me that it was actually $19.99 and you need a coupon to get the $16.99 deal. I asked where you get the coupon and she said in the mail, so I walked out to go home and look for this coupon she mentioned. A man starts chasing me down as I am about to get into my car and says they'll give me the deal. I was thus suckered in.
The masseuses do not speak very much English, if any at all. I was assigned to a female masseuse. She started with a scalp massage, then worked on shoulders, chest and arms. I was then given a foot massage and it was pretty painful, but very necessary; I didn't realize there were so many knots on my soles! Next, she massaged the legs, then the backside. Not thorough enough for the amount of time she had, but pretty relaxing.
When she told me she was finished, I was perplexed because I was expecting her to wait for me to give her a tip, but she left to another room. I then got up and left. Once again someone was chasing me down to my car. I suppose I should have waited for her!? Maybe I will make them a sign to place in their massage area stating 'Please provide a tip at the end of your massage. Thank you.' in addition to the sign saying that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items. I definitely suggest giving them a 15%-20% tip for the price of the massage.
i seed a poster 1999 1 hour treatment when i went in the lady said we have 1 hour 40 bucks what a scam then she said you pay now
i said i pay when you are done ok she got mad started talking a differnt languge loud o shit shes mad then she said 20 minet wait i said ok so iwaited got in the room the lady that gave the treatment spoke english to me she kep asking you ok you ok i said please stop talking i am tryinr to relax she stoped talking to me she finihed the treatment i went to pay no there was a man there he said it will be 23 bucks i said no its 1999 ok he replyed the other 3 bucks is for the lady her tip i laughed at him .he said the lady was standing with us was waiting for her tip i said you dont ask for a tip ok dont you pay theses people he said yes but other people tip i explaned iwas not happy with the servise like he cared lololol so the lady from the get go said the massuse dont speak english i said yes she dose she spoke to me in the room ok if you want to tip her you can because i am not going to tip a person that sits and fallows me after the treatment

I've been wronged.
I'd like to say that I'm an understanding person. I understand that you get what you pay for. I understand that there is a language barrier. I understand that the professionalism of this place will be lacking. I understand that this "massage" will not be relaxing and will be rather painful. I understand that this is a business and they want to make money and they will try to get you any way they can.
My visit here last night was a disaster.
I had called a bunch of places earlier to check prices and went with Happy 8 since I knew where it was and it was close to where I was staying. I asked about rates and they said it was 19.99 an hour, and I asked if they did half an hour sessions. They said yes, and that it was 10.00. I make a reservation for 2 people at 8:30 and request for a 30 minute session. I make this reservation in English since the receptionist answered the phone in English and was speaking fluently enough for me to not switch into Mandarin, which I'm not fluent in.
So far so good.
I get there and the receptionist remembers me and we get started. They have a section in an open room with 2 chairs next to each other with a partition. Cute. The massage starts and I'm scared but it's not so bad. Yes the water is hot, and yes the "foot" massage is really a head to toe massage with maybe 10 minutes focused on the feet. Some of which is very relaxing, and some of which is quite painful...which I had expected.
They talk in Mandarin while they are working on us. I hear about one man's money grubbing wife. I am not reassured when they are having a conversation about the moves they are doing on me as they are talking about how it's all for show and doesn't do anything. Nice.
The ugly part is I'm keeping track of time and I notice that the massage is going on for far longer than scheduled. When they ask us to flip, I ask them if it's been 30 minutes yet because we had scheduled a 30 minute massage. Once again I ask in English since my Mandarin is bad. The masseuse says "30 minutes, yes" in response to my question. Okay...we have a 30 minute massage. I revel in this fact as they tear my butt hymen giving me the most painful butt massage that I'll likely ever experience.
I hear the guys talking about how we have 20 more minutes until our hour is up. I interject in mandarin and say that we made 30 minute appointments. They basically force us to lay there and continue massaging us saying that it's good to have an hour massage, that it's too late they've gone over 30 minutes, that an hour is therapeutic and the best, etc. I'm pissed because I know what the management is doing, which is screwing us by sneakily going over the time and hoping that we just pay and don't complain.
I continue to complain and tell them to get the manager, and he comes and talks to me in Chinese and plays dumb. First he refuses to understand what I'm saying in Mandarin and keeps on going "Oh, so you want 30 minutes more?" Then he switches to English and says the same thing. I correct him irately in Mandarin and then he tells me that it's not possible for us to have made an appointment for 30 minutes because they don't do that here. Then he changes his mind and says it's not possible because their 30 minute massages are 15 dollars and it's best to have an hour massage anyways.
The manager was the person I spoke to on the phone. He had the exact same voice and I recognized his melodic timbre. He was trying all of these popular Asian tactics to make it inconvenient for me to argue so he could screw me out of some money. I didn't grow up with a bunch of cheap Asian parents for nothing, and I don't take BS from a bunch of shady businessmen who think they can squeeze a few more dollars from some young Americans.
They end the massage a bit early since I'm irate and the guy who is massaging me is tired of pushing me back down into their chair and I go into the front room where 6 angry Asians stare me down while I argue with their manager. I had only brought enough cash for the massage that I had anticipated getting and they are cash only for foot massages.
The manager's solution to this was to charge us the supposed 15 dollars per half hour for our massage, but since we wanted to put it on a credit card, he'd have to charge us 16 per massage. We dig through our wallets and scrounge up enough cash to cover 32 bucks, and the manager is trying to take it from us. Hello, the extra 2 dollars was for the credit card fee...he's trying to pocket that too. How stingy. I point it out and he begrudgingly returns the 2 dollars. I hand over 3 dollars to my masseuse while I dig up more cash in my purse, and they have the audacity to tell me that their minimum tip is 5 dollars each. Fine. I scrounge up another 7 dollars and they get their measly 5 dollar tip per person and their miserly hearts swell up with joy since they have taken every single dollar off of my person.
My advice: Don't waste your money on this place.
Last week, I went there for the first time and I like it so much. I like the feeling and the environment. The masseuses there are perfect and they are trying their best to make me happy. Besides, the price is reasonable only $20. It is worth the money and the time you spend on it. Anyway, I would recommend you to try.
SMACK SMACK SMACK. YAP YAP YAP.
So I'm Chinese, I'm familiar with the whole loud Chinese speaking thing. I'm Chinese, I'm familiar with "DaLu" behavior. I'm Chinese, I understand that apparently your gum is super delicious...but dude, for an hour? Seriously?
Even after the constant chitchat, snorting, smacking, and so-so message from my guy, at 1 hour for $20, I would come back to this place, but not until I try a few other reflexology spots. These things are popping up like zits on a teenager's face in the south bay!
I think my guy's name was David but dammit, I can't remember. My friends got Rainy and Selena. They both loved their message. Maybe I just need to make sure to get someone else next time.
I have no idea what the hell is wrong with those people, experience was bad bad bad bad. I'm surprised I haven't even written a review about this place!
I called them and obviously there is a language barrier between us and I asked about pricing since one of my aunties said they did a pretty decent job for about $10-15 bucks and the receptionist answered my questions quickly and incomplete with short answers or with a yes or no.
I made 2 appointments, one for me and one for my friend and I asked if they take credit cards and they said they did.
My experience was extremely disappointing. Maybe half way through, my friend complained it was not relaxing and it was painful and that he wanted to just leave. I had no problem with that and decided that we should go since I wasn't enjoying mine either.
The guy at the desk was extremely rude and I wanted to punch him in the face pretty much.
I said I'd be paying with my credit card and then all of sudden they said there was a fee? Wtf?! I dont see any signs that say they will charge to use your credit card and they obviously didn't say anything on the phone.
I was extremely pissed and I said that my friend would stay here while I went to the ATM to get cash and they told me I couldn't because they thought I was trying to leave without paying? Um my friend is staying at your establishment dumbass so obviously, I can't just ditch and not pay.
I was upset to the point where I just get them my card and got out of there. You know they're cheap if they charge you to use your card because obviously, they probably pocket all the cash they get. And the manager had the nerve to say "it doesn't include tip". I dont have to tip asshole!
The manager needs to learn management skills, obviously he thinks tips are a necessity, and the employees need to be more professional.
Never again.
It's definitely cheap at 20 bucks. However, my loyalty remains with Green Foot across the street. I had requested female masseuses when I made an appointment earlier in the week. When I realized that our masseuses were males, my temper flared and I bitched. We ended up with one male and one female. I volunteered to get the male because the massage was a white jesus day present for my friend and ass-grabbing by a male probably wasn't her idea of a good time. At the rate my romantic life is going, eventually I will have to pay someone to grab me inappropriately anyway. I figured I'd get acclimated now.
My masseuse had super strong thumbs; at times I wondered if he was attempting to poke holes in my skull. When he got to the rest of my body, there was significantly less pressure. I was hoping that he would kick the shit out of neck and shoulder. Nope, didn't happen. My butt was only molested for a few seconds, which was fine with me. The massage was adequate but I liked Green Foot better.
As with at Green Foot, my friend's masseuse marveled at how young we looked. She said I looked twenty. I decided that this whole age thing must be a standard tip earning technique and fell for it willingly anyway -- $20 each. These people work really hard. When they didn't know I understood Chinese, they were talking about their other part time jobs. My masseuse was a mover and he was going to try another job taking care of an elderly man. Seriously, these people pretty much live off of tips, so tip well!
I've been here a few times, but service seems to go downhill each and every time. My last visit was with my mom, our masseuse were chatting loudly with each other. (Strike one). My male masseuse was getting too close to my ass. (Strike two). My mom's male masseuse unlocked the back of her bra without informing her while massaging her back (Strike three). Needless to say, 3 strikes your out. I won't be coming here again. Professionalism is lacking, but the massage was okay.
Yay! I'm a fan. For $20 foot massage you can't beat it, since they also do short massages all over your body. I dropped in on a Saturday at around 3PM and there wasn't a wait. I was brought back into the first room where I walked past a line of 5-6 chairs, then I was brought into a small cubicle of two chairs, which is nice if you are going as a couple, you can probably request this to sit together.
I got and hour for:
Scalp Massage
Short shoulder massage
Foot Reflexology massage
Short back massage
Things to take away from this post for 1st timers:
- $20 Cash Only
- They don't speak much English
- Reflexology Massage tends to use pressure points, so it's suppose to hurt a little, don't be afraid to express pain and they will ease up
- When they flip you around to face down, heads up there is a slight butt massage
With so many of these places popping up nowadays, I drove by this place the other night but needed to check Yelp first before trying!
This is a professional massage place run by mainland China, aka DaLu, people.
$20 for 1 hour foot massage in the lounge includes a partial body massage, according to the receptionist.
$48 for a 1 hour full body massage is in a private room with a choice of gender for your masseuse.
English is definitely not their strong point here. Thus, if you know Mandarin, that would be extremely helpful. My masseuse was an ex-swimmer from Beijing that came to the US 2 yrs ago.
Massage was good. Firm, per my request, and they did a great job using warm towels afterwards to remove the massage oils.
-1 star for more like a ~50 minute massage vs the 1 hr that I signed up for...
I had read alot about this place on Yelp so couple of day ago I decided to try it out with two other friends. Ok, as I had read from oher reviews the water bucket they dip your foot in was too hot, the masseuses talk alot and rob the place of any ambiance it would have had, and they take absolutely no directions as to what you would like them to do... but you know what? I LOVED IT! All I have to say is, its $20 people! Think what $20 gets you these days and I bet it wont stand up to a very good hour long massage. One tip I will pass on is to wear sweat pants and a tshirt. But make sure its not your favorite because you will get it a little oily.
My mom and I went to Kalesa and discoverd that this place was a couple of doors down. After a huge eating session of eating lots of fat at Kalesa, we decided for a wind down with a massage from Happy 8. Only $20 for a massage! Ahhhh. It started with a massage on the face and head, then evolved to a foot massage. After, the lady had me turn over. Heh, voila, there was a hole in the lounge chair where you could put your face. The massage itself wasn't deep enough, it was relaxing at points, until.she started whacking me. It was a cycle of good massage, then whacking, then good massage, then more whacking. She could do with more of a deep massage and no whacking. The whacking just startles me and makes me want to whack her right back.
Other than the whacking, and not so deep massage, any $20 massage is good.
Ask for a 1 hr foot massage for $25 at this joint, and you'll receive the whole shabang! This is my second time here, and the first time I tried this massage place out, I came in for the 1 hour full body massage in a private closed room for $48 bucks; which was by the way, awesome. You think females don't have strong hands, well your presumptions are wrong, for this place at least!
I came in for the second time to try out the 1 HOUR foot massage for ONLY $25!!! Boy I gotta tell ya, they don't just concentrate on your feet, they work your face, arms, hands, legs, down to your feet and then lastly when you turn around, they massage your back...all for $25. Every inch of every muscle squeeze was well worth the money spent =)
The room is divided into cubicles which are short. I favored this as it allows you to feel comfortable being that you're not taking any article of clothing off (only your shoes / socks of course) and maybe your jacket. The room is dim to allow peacefulness to the mind while being worked on.
The only things I found a bit odd but funny that I had to giggle to myself, was that the masseuse who was massaging the client next to me, took over my feet for about 10-15 secs to show my lady masseuse how to massage feet. I was like "iyeew after touching wet/ sweaty feet from the other person, you jump to mine for a couple of secs and back to the dude next to me again?" I found that kind of gross but funny because it reminded me of how 3rd world countries would run their business...with no shame! LOL Thankfully, I'm not that anal of a person to ask "Why in God's name are you doing swapping feet you feet swapper massager???"
Other than that...I would definitely go back for more! I've needed this massage badly! Thanks Happy 8!
I've never had a reflexology foot massage before. People describe it as "it hurts so good". More of the hurt than the good for me. However, the next day my feet did feel pretty awesome. I guess the massaging of my meridians put my chi, feng shui, and taekwondo all in line.
I'll probably give another reflexology spot a try. This place massaged my feet then took their oily hands to my clothes to massage my back. Nay I say to that.
Thank you, Tu D. Thank you for reviewing a place that made me relive some of the most painful experiences I have had when I was in Singapore: reflexology. This is the art of using the body's meridians, and pressing and/or massaging areas of the feet to improve health. I'm not sure of the benefits, but it does feel really good.
In the Bay Area, I've had some foot massages done in the Great Mall. But the ambiance of the place is lacking, especially with the number of screaming children that are running about the mall. Also, the last time I went the guy was talking on his cell phone which in all honesty, isn't that relaxing.
I headed over on a Saturday afternoon, and they were able to take me in as a walk-in. They bring you into this dimly lit room that are partitioned with two recliners in each of the areas. There's a large LCD TV mounted to the wall showing random Asian cities (I think I saw the Tokyo dome in one of them). I kept thinking .. where's the magic mic? This is EXACTLY the scenery that they show in magic mic videos. I digress.
The massage guy comes in with a bucket of hot water with something floating in it (I think it may have been a tea bag) for me to soak my feet in, and gave me a blanket to cover myself with. He started with doing some light facial stuff, and then my hands, and then went at it with my feet. Like I said, I haven't felt pain like that since I was in Singapore. But it's a good pain, it's hard to describe, but I knew that it was not for naught.
When he was done with the feet, he asked me to turn over, and then went at it with my back. Like Tu said, there's a hole in the back of the chair where you can put your face through. They are all sanitary and even have those paper towels with a hole in it. Kinda like the sanitary rings that they provide in bathrooms--but for your face.
Wow. This guy knew what was up. Although he only massaged my back (and my butt) for about 5 minutes, I felt great!
At the end of it, I went up to the front to pay. The price had gone up a little bit to $25. The owner (I think she was the owner) asked if I wanted to buy a membership. It was $125 for 5+1 free foot massage. Considering that the folks in the Great Mall charge $40 for 30 minutes, and this was an hour, I knew I had a deal in hand. I bought the membership, and can't wait until I can feel the pain again!
PS I woke up the next day and STILL could feel my feet tingling. It's an interesting feeling, but it feels great!
My sister and I came here yesterday. We called in advance and were able to make an appointment for 35 minutes later which was perfect considering it'd take us about 25-30 minutes to get there. On the phone, the lady asked us if we wanted a foot massage or fully body massage. My sister and I decided we'd treat ourselves and get the full body which is originally $48 but she said she give us a $5 dollar discount.
So we got there at 4:00 and the lady on the phone greeted us right away in a friendly matter and to sit down on the couches. Immediately, two people led us each to an individual room to get our Swedish massages. When I got in there the man directed me to get myself siuated on the table bed as he left the room. Then I, being a noob to massages, just stood there not sure of what to do and had to open the door and ask what I was supposed to do and turns out I was supposed to strip down and get under the blanket sheet (when I met up with my sister later, she told me she did the exact same thing hahah). Okay, so this was my first time getting this kind of massage so I felt kind of uncomfortable being nakie under the sheet, but they're professional and polite to make you comfortable and to protect your privacy.
On to the massage, there were some times when I felt like he was trying to rip out my scapulae and I got ticklish around my legs so I'd try to hold back my laughter or pain as best as I could, but overall it was pretty relaxing. They first start on your neck and back, then legs, then you turn over (under the sheet) and they massage your face, arms and the front-side of your legs. I think my favorite part was when they put the hot cloth on you as they take off the oil stuff, but warning to those who might not be able to take the heat. After the hour was done he said he was finished and left the room so I could get dressed.
My only suggestion is that it'd be nice if there was some music or something in there to listen to since there was no conversation going on since he didn't speak all that much English.
My sister and I went to go pay up front and tip our massagers but then I still kind of wanted that foot massage, which was my initial reason for coming here. So after some "hmmm should we get it??" we actually got the foot massage too haha (but after the guy in front said he'd give us a discount and charge us only $20 each instead of $25). The massage was like how the others described and in my opinion better than the full body, since you still do get somewhat of a full body massage. AND i liked being in my clothes. This felt verry nice and we liked it so much that we decided to get the package.
The package-buying was kind of complicated and confusing, but eventually we settled it out. We got the $240 6 body massage package (to share between the 2 of us or whoever we want to bring along), because he said 1 body massage in the package = 2 foot massages therefore 10 foot massages left after having used up two for that day. See where the complication may have occurred? Hah.
Anyhow, I'd really recommend the foot massage! But maybe not right before a hot date or something, because you might leave lookin' a little tow up.
My first foot ORGASM!!!!
Although I am a veteran at the traditional deep tissue massage, this was my first foot massage experience. And now I'm on a quest to find the best foot massage in the area.
This place just opened, so I was the only one there on a Thursday morning. The place is clean & well-ventilated. There are some partitions, so there is a little bit of privacy if it's not too crowded. The head guy is named Jimmy...if you speak Vietnamese or Chinese, then you should speak it to him. He speaks English too...but a little bit difficult to understand.
My female therapist (who spoke no English) brought me back to a comfy recliner & brought over a tub of warm water to soak my feet in. She rapped my feet up and started with a head & neck massage. I was skeptical at first because the pressure was a little light. But, things got much better!
When she unwrapped my feet and started on the pressure points....WOW! I could feel the rush of serotonin being released and flooding my synapses. You know the feeling when your head starts to tingle? Yeah, that's it....natural ecstasy. Did I just say that?
After 25 minutes on each foot, I thought we were done...but to my delight, she motioned for me to flip over. This comfy recliner goes back all the way to lay flat. And there is a hole in the headrest for your face! Cool! So, she did a full body massage for another 10 minutes. She even massaged my ass!
All in all...a great experience & only $20!!!!!!! This woman worked hard. So I gave her a $10 tip. Keep in mind that these therapists probably only get their tips...so don't be cheap!
Next time I'm only gonna wear shorts & a tank top. All the layers I was wearing today were just getting in the way. Or I'll just go naked....even better.
This is a an excellent professional establishment. As a lover of the full body massage, I had never really thought about a one hour concentrated on my feet. I did try the Great Mall and was "injured"; ripped off and disappointed. This however completely changed my view. Once you get through slight discomfort (but oh so good) you feel like you are ready to walk on air. The foot massage is not just a lot of "fancy footwork", but you get some time having your entire body massaged in a very comfortable chair.
Susan is great and firm; Rainy deliberate and delicate; Nancy a real pro. While there are others, I have personally worked with all three. The entire staff from "Head to Toe" get my vote. Great value-great service-friendly staff (even if they can't really speak too much English).
Went here with my cousin because my mother had extra gift certificates. The massage was relaxing BUT I did hear a lot of background noise from other therapists in the building. The room was obviously not sound proof. The hour long massage was well worth the price. No wait time. I would recommend to call ahead.
this place is very much like the foot massage parlors found all over china. in other words, this ain't no burke williams! the massage is painful. no pain, no gain. prob the best $20 i've spent in a long time for a one hour reflexology massage.
came here on a sat morning and i was the only one there. they soak your feet in a tub of warm/hot water. while your feet's soaking they'll massage your face, head, neck and yes even your earlobes. they'll do your arms and then your calves and then move on to your feet. the foot massage part hurts. i cringe and tense up and pray that it will be over soon. but it's all worth it because i always leave a massage like this walking on air.
then they flip you over and massage your back. THEY WILL ALSO MASSAGE YOUR BUTT!!! a little odd but i had no qualms with this. the best part tho was when they start to pound and slap your back. i had to try really hard to stifle my laugh. it's like an exorcism and he was trying to beat the devil out of me! so while my back got a good pounding my ass got a decent rub down.
i don't know maybe because i was the first customer of the day and my masseuse had a lot of energy to expend but i sure got my $20 worth (well $30 with the $10 tip)!
Wanted to try this place since it was close to my house. Would not go back because I requested for a male massage therapist and they gave me a female massage therapist. I felt like a meat tenderizer! SMACK SMACK SMACK and YAP YAP YAP just like the other reviewer. Sorry Happy 8...need more room for improvement =(
Been here four times. The first time was absolutely fantastic, but the last couple of times have been just OK. About 10 minutes of it was fantastic, the rest of the time was just ok. It's still a bargain considering that they're running a $20 special (cash only special). I'll make a note of whom I like so I could ask for the person I like again (have no idea if they work that way...but could try). They don't speak any English, so you have to tell the front desk and they'll translate for you. Depending on whom you get, the massage is different, even though they cover the whole body. I wish they would each focus on what they're good at, and spend more time on that, and spend less time on what they're not as good at. For example, I had someone who was very good on the neck and back, but just so-so on the foot and arm.

Went back a second time, and got a different guy. I forgot the name of the first guy I had, or I… Read more »
Awesome foot massage. Great for the price(just 25 $). I don't know why this is called a foot massage, this was almost a full body massage. I would suggest wearing shorts and a tank top for this.
I intend to try out the full body massage the next time. Its great to find a place where I can spoil myself without spending a lot. I think I'm going to be a regular here :).
Been here twice and have very mixed feelings about this place. The massage itself is great - one of the best I've had and I've tried a half dozen different places in the Bay Area. However, it's run in a low class manner. It's quite noisy with the masseuses chatting with each other and loud voices from the back. First time I was there, the manager kept asking if I'd rather have a full body massage instead of a foot massage. Second time, I was only asked once but then was asked to pay upfront which I did. When I left after the massage, another employee came out to the parking lot and asked if I paid yet. So I might go back because I really like the massage but I wouldn't bring any friends because the place is embarrassingly low class!
I went there a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and his dad. It was a pretty ok experience, people were somewhat friendly, clean place.
We decided to go back again. I just called to make reservation for 6 people tonight. I cancelled my reservation within 5 min of my first phone call with them.
First, the receptionist has total attitude on the phone, asking for my credit card number because they needed to reserve 6 spots for us. If we don't show up, then she'd charge me 10 dollars/person. I kind of understand she's just doing it for business but I was very uncomfortable with giving out credit card number. I gave it to her but she didn't ask me what type of credit card nor exp date, so obviously she did NOT need it!
Second, after I gave her my number, I had a few questions but she did not bother to wait, said bye and hung up. So I called back and asked her if 2 people want to have female masseurs and don't care about the rest, she did NOT even wait for me to finish, "NO!". Then I asked her another question about type of massage, again she did NOT wait for me to finish and gave me a short answer "YES!", "NO!". I said my thanks and she immediately hung up without saying bye or anything. That was very unprofessional, obviously she's not very patient with customers!
After she hung up, I did not think this place deserve my business. I called the 3rd time to cancel my appointment. This place need to have someone more professional or maybe just the receptionist need to learn to be more patient and polite, or else they will wonder why business is going down!
A one hour reflexology massage for $20! What's not to love. I left feeling like I was floating on air! Excellent!
yes, yes, the stories are true...a 1 hour 'foot' massage (they do your whole body from your head to your back to your feet) for only $20!!! even less if you buy a package deal...
so, why the 3 star rating you ask?! well, i personally prefer a nice relaxing massage instead of a how-would-i-put it? oh yeah...an hour of painful torture! don't get me wrong, i'm all for the deep tissue stuff but i absolutely cannot stand when someone mistakes an actual bone in my back for a hard knot.
let's see...have you ever done one of those cheap chair massages they have in malls? its like that. only longer. and a better value (by 'value' i am strictly referring to the dollar per minutes ratio).
anyways, my first visit was with my boyfriend and we were both seen immediately even though we had no appointment. they asked us to soak our feet in water while they began the massage, but my water was SCALDING hot! i love hot water but this was ridiculous. after hovering over the water for a while i told my masseuse that the water was too hot and he said, "no, just right" and plunged my feet into the water and physically held them down!! i was able to hold back a scream but still had to whimper in pain. okay, on to the massage. to be honest there were some pleasant points: my neck and shoulders massage was okay, and the legs and arms portion were bearable, and even my head was somewhat relaxing (except for dude sticking his oily fingers into my ears :P) but the feet and the back were PAIN - FULL!! yes, full of pain! most of the time i was inching away from the guy to prevent permanent damage to my toes. and at one point, when he was digging into my back (see my pet peeve from paragraph 2) i made a remark that he was hurting me and he told me to, "HUSH". i was freaking hushed!! end of story, i survived but i probably won't be back any time soon.
as a note, my boyfriend loves this place and has already been back for seconds...in fact, i'm sure he's secretly purchased himself a package deal. so, i readily admit that many others would probably give this joint 5 stars. as for me, i wouldn't want to buy so-so filet mignon no matter HOW cheap it is. i can wait for the real deal. thanks.
BOTTOM LINE: if your body is need of a cheap massage, then this place can't be beat.
