"This place is awesome! Don't let the haters discourage you from coming here; this place is the real deal. The fish is undoubtedly fresh…" read more »
Need I say more.. "Kids eat free" is advertised on their windows. All the reallllllllllllllllly good place advertise this.. OH WAIT.. no they don't. This place wasn't good. The pictures of the food actually gave me the creeps and seeing the famous sauce sold behind the counter gave me false hope that the food would be tasty. I was curious to try it and now that I have I don't have to ever go back there again! And I mean it.. no no no Happi House for me. Other than the food I thought the staff was friendly and the place was quiet so the service was fast. Cheers!

I can only think of two words - "yuck" and "bleh". My first and only trip here was several years ago - won't be coming back. Couple pieces of lettuce as salad, weird beef, and rice served from an ice cream scoop (it stays in that form too when it lands in the plate).... :(
If you like to eat mediocre food at a high price this place might be for you.
The Happi House has an unsettling environment. The number one reason being the scattered murals of deranged sickly looking fruit with faces found in the juice portion of the restaurant. They look as if they have an advanced form of bird flu, which subliminally made me feel as if I would contract something from eating here.
Most importantly their food does not come close to matching their price. Perhaps they should cut back their menu, lower their supplies to meet the demand and in turn lower their prices.
So long as you acknowledge this place for what it is--Japanese fast food, it's really not too bad. It actually tastes like something, unlike the Hibachi grill junk that fills mall courts.
The place tends to be fairly empty, although they have remained opened for several years now. I typically get their combo meal of a salad, beef, and rice. I think their secret is their sauce--which comes in regular and spicy. I even took a bottle (you can purchase them separately from the meal) with me to college, although I was too embarassed to break it out in the dining hall.
The staff tends to be fairly friendly, and I've never had any problems with them.
As plusses they have cherry coke from their soda fountain (almost everyone else is either regular Coke or Pepsi--nice to see something different) as well as selling rice candy and their sauces availible in bottles to be sold separately.
It's certainly not the best food in the area, but it's certainly not the worst can certainly serve as a late night snack or quick meal.
After driving around for 20 mins, we finally succumbed to yet another chain...out of desperation and fear of rage that ensues hypoglycemia. Three stars cause it was open late and by late I mean 9pm. Food was average, I had the chicken and some tempura. It was fine, nothing great, but c'mon...its Happi House. My first visit and it was something I would have loved if I was back in college and looking through the couch cushions for money so I could go out to eat. Oy, I miss SD.

it's always a struggle to find a place to eat for dinner after 9pm in fremont.
that's how we happened to end up at happi house.
the bland food makes me now wary of any place that advertises "kids eat free"

Its sad to think I am alone on this one, but I like the place and the people that work here are really sweet. It is a little over priced, but its fast and it fills ur belly...
